I've had Dr Fong for 7ish years. She's the best there is! Kind, informative, knowledgeable, A plus OBGYN. The staff is nice too.

To be honest, I really don't understand all the positive reviews for her. I don't typically like to leave less than stellar reviews for a provider, but I think it's necessary to at least offer a different experience and perspective. I will caveat that perhaps your experience with this provider depends on the reason for your visit. For me, it was one and done with Dr. Fong, not in a good way. I met with Dr. Fong about 2 years ago for women's health as I was looking for a new gynecologist and also going through egg freezing at the time. I had been going to Fair Oaks Women's Health already and was switching providers because my previous provider left. I was older (around 40 years old) and had been diagnosed with low ovarian reserve (DOR). During my meeting with Dr. Fong, her comments made me feel like all of my fertility problems were due to my older age. I understand there is some truth to that, but she did not offer any other explanations. I came away feeling like "oh, what did you expect because you're old," and I felt shamed for being older. Granted, she never said that directly to me, but that was the tone. I felt dismissed during my appointment. She also made me feel like I should not expect to freeze too many eggs because of my DOR. While I understood it would be difficult and not to have high expectations, I was still hoping for ways to improve my egg freezing results. She gave me little to no hope. Well, I ended up going to acupuncture and taking herbs (which she did say could be helpful) and (after only freezing 5 eggs total across two rounds at age 39) froze 6 more eggs at age 41 in one cycle. Even worse, I got some bloodwork done, and it came back that my TSH was unusually low although my free T4 was fine. She offered no explanation and diagnosed me with sub clinical hyperthyroidism when I have no history of thyroid problems. In fact, I started seeing a Chinese medicine doctor for my fertility issues. I happened to mention my hyperthyroidism diagnosis, and he immediately asked me what supplements I was taking. It turns out that I was taking too many (didn't know that was possible!). He recommended supplements to cut out, and sure enough, my thyroid functioning returned to normal. I should mention that I specifically listed all of my supplements on my appointment form with Dr. Fong because I knew I was taking quite a few for fertility. It was particularly sad because I was excited to have a doctor with a similar ethnic background and came away very disappointed. I have fortunately since found another provider at FOWH, but I did not return for a while after such a negative experience. She seems to be good as an OB, but based on my experience, I would not recommend her to anyone no matter what the reason for their visit. read more

I do not often leave negative reviews, but after seeing my new Gyno, I felt it necessary to report on my experience with Dr. Fong. I saw Dr. Fong twice to help treat abnormal bleeding/PCOS. We waited over an hour for both appointments I had for and I saw her for maybe 15 minutes. Instead of taking time to explain options to me, she was more focused on telling me I needed to lose weight (without explanation as why fat cells affect PCOS) and even recommended going to a compound pharmacy for a GLP1 when my insurance wouldn't cover it. I did not feel heard or valued at this practice and after my follow up, I knew it was time to find a different Gyno. I go to Dr. Amanda Barnes now and feel heard, seen, and hopeful for future health. read more

I have never left a review, positive or negative, in my life. My experience with Dr Fong unfortunately compels me to do so for the first time. Dr Fong was not my OB, but she was on call when I went into labor. I checked in around 2AM and saw her for the first time at 11AM right after I got an epidural. She had the worst bed side manner I could POSSIBLY conceive of. She did not introduce herself and proceeded to perform a cervical check without asking for permission. After assessing that I was 3cm, she said, "10 hours and only 3 cm. Not much progress". In an accusatory tone? As if I had any control over how fast I dilated? And then said I needed to insert internal monitors to measure the strength of contractions. When asked if there were any other options, or what would happen if we delayed internal monitoring, she said "Hemorrhaging. C-section" in the most dead pan, condescending manner. My nurse apologized on her behalf once she left the room and said "Sorry, I know that was a lot, it's totally your decision and it's not necessary to do internal monitoring". Fast forward to midnight, I'm about 5CM. She calls me and says, in the most snide tone you can imagine - "So. Still no baby." And re-pressures me into a whole host of interventions I did not want. I felt totally berated. Thankfully I gave birth with my actual OB, Dr Mitri, the next morning. My doula believes my body refused to deliver my baby with her and that's why I stalled so hard lol. Dr Fong is my favorite, she is very knowledgeable and understanding! I started to book her even when I lived in Vegas.

Without fail, get prepared to wait over an hour to see Dr. Fong. There are times she spends more time with you than others. My last appointment she appeared rushed. She tried referring all my concerns to a GP. Why when I'm Sitting in front of her?! Annoying! The care is average to slightly above, maybe. It would be nice if she took her patients time into consideration. read more

I just had my first OBGYN appt. with Dr. Fong last week and I loved her and my experience at FOWH so far! I had to change insurance from Kaiser HMO to United PPO in the middle of my pregnancy. I didn't think finding a new OBGYN would be such a nightmare because the switch happened in my 13th week of pregnancy. I spent over a week on the phone for many hours a day calling so many places just to find someone who would take me and could get me in on time to keep on track with my appts. I had to submit records to FOWH then wait for a few weeks in hopes someone would take me. I actually had another appt. elsewhere scheduled the day before I ended up meeting Dr. Fong that I luckily got to cancel that when FOWH called the day before that appt. to schedule me with Dr. Fong. I was so grateful! FOWH is busy for a reason. So many women want to deliver at Huntington, this place is on campus by the hospital in a super nice area of Pasadena, and all the docs here are highly sought after. Thus, it's frustrating to see negative reviews on here related to how busy this office is. Don't choose such a popular place if you're not ready for this environment! My appt was at 8:30am. I arrived at 8am and text as I parked (the paid garage is right across from the door to FOWH building - they don't validate). I received the "come inside" text within a few minutes. The COVID questionnaire and temp check outside the door ran efficiently. I only had to wait 5 min. to get called back. After I weighed and gave my urine sample, I waited about 20 min. in the exam room for my doc to arrive, which gave me time to finish the paperwork. Dr. Fong communicates just like me, which I loved - very fast talker, but not because she was rushing at all. She spent a good 20 min. with me (I wasn't scheduled for an in depth ultrasound) and we covered so much ground in that amount of time. She's personable, funny, informative, and a straight shooter. I got great vibes from her. When she sent me to the lab, she made sure to note my insurance carrier because the in-house lab is NOT covered by many insurance providers. She said they're for-profit and just happen to rent a space next to FOWH. For United, she said Quest was where I needed to go, which was also basically on campus. I only had to walk a block outside to get to the lab. My pre-appt and appt experience was very efficient and stress-free. I'm so happy to be a FOWH mommy under Dr. Fong's care! read more

I found Dr Della Fong on the Huntington Hospital website and am I glad I did. I've never been to an office with a friendlier staff. I had some concerns initially with my pregnancy.. right when I called in the first time I felt like everyone wanted to help and didn't just brush my concern off. I had some question about a laser procedure I did before I knew I was pregnant and was really worried whether it was going to effect my baby or not. Anyway made my first appointment and met Dr Fong on my 2nd appointment. She was so caring and made sure she answered all my questions and concerns. Not one time did I feel rushed and I always left her office understanding what I went in for and knew what to expect for next visit. I highly recommend Dr Fong, I heard from some of my friends who also have her as their Dr that she's not always taking new patients so that made me feel even luckier to have found her at the right time! read more

Great doctor. UCLA med degree with over 20 years of experience. Knowledgeable, caring, and very upbeat. She is so cheerful despite no one ever really enjoys a pap smear. Staff is great, too. With every visit, staff was always responsive and kind. All things were managed with care. I also never waited very long to see her every visit which I think is an incredible feat, considering how busy the office is and how popular Dr. Fong is. I really appreciate that there's a lab in the same office so you can easily get blood drawn for tests and have ultrasounds done without having to leave the office. The lab and radiology are definite wins! But be aware, the office is extremely busy. While the office is brand new and well appointed, the waiting room is very packed with other patients. It can get a bit claustrophobic like a cattle call during prime time. There are also two offices which is very confusing. The main office is the on the corner nearest to the most northern elevators while the other office (not facing the corner) is almost always empty. I think that's where you can check in for ultrasounds. Parking is in a large building next door - $6 maximum a day which is incredibly cheap compared to other cities. If you frequently visit, you can park along on Bellefontaine Ave or Pasadena Ave for free. It's a hike over to the office though you'd save money for coffee and get some exercise in. If you're in a pinch for food, there's a 24-Hour Subway in the same plaza but the biggest secret is that you can visit the Huntington Memorial Cafeteria. I've had lunch there a few times. Check in at the front reception and walk right in. They have sandwiches, salads, and hot food which is fairly decent. Everything is so incredibly inexpensive. While the cafeteria is not gourmet, it boasts a wide variety of healthy food and is great alternative to Subway. read more

It seems that Dr. Fong is so blinded by her hubris that she feels that she is entitled to belittle and speak to patients in a condescending manner. She also seemed to think that her patients are interested in about what goes on in her personal life that she spent the majority of time talking about her sons allergies. I'm sure that Dr. Fong is a great doctor for someone, but I want to write this for folks who, like me, are looking for someone that they feel allows them to have all the information in a non-biased way and make their decisions. I will start by saying that I know that OB's overall are a very different form of provider from what my dream delivery of my child would be. That being said, I am very open to having all of the information and being sure to have a solid relationship with an obstetrician should things not go the way I hope (this is life, pregnancy is wild - it might happen). BUT - this is my first pregnancy and I've found that watching videos of delivery nurses on YouTube have been more informative than this office. I've generally accepted that they are very busy, that hasn't bugged me too much. My appointments with Dr. Fong have been a bit rushed, but she's kind enough. Today, that shifted in a huge way for me. Ideologically, she is clearly very anti-midwife and exploring home birth or birth centers. I get it, it's her job. But these decisions should be made from an informed position. My appointment today consisted of her asking me how my 20 week ultrasound went (admitting that she hadn't had time to look at my results), telling me that I should start to look at strollers, and then telling me just how unsafe midwife deliveries are and that all my friends (the many of them that have delivered in this way) are lucky that they had healthy, positive experiences. She talked about it as if they had been to battle that would surely end in death, and they had scraped by. Again, I'm not saying she has to be a supporter of this option, but the way she shared the information felt belittling to say the least. It made me feel as though she would be the type if something DOES go wrong to leave you with very few options or not give you all the information so that you can make an informed decision. Needless to say, after discussing with those who are truly deeply invested in both my safety and me having a joyous delivery experience, I will not be returning to this practice. I know for a fact there are OB's that believe in a holistic healthcare approach. Ones who are able to balance both the practicalities of preparing for the potential dangers of childbirth, while also trusting that some women will have the fortune to know the power of their bodies - that they were made for this. I'm not sure how good of a Doctor Dr.Fong is because I never got that far. I called as I just found out I'm expecting. I told the lady on the phone I was an out of pocket patient meaning $cash$ for them and that I was looking for a obgyn. I didn't even get though my sentence before the lady cut me off and put me on hold with no warning. As good of a Dr. she may be, she should use her intelligence to hire a better staff with proper telephone etiquette. I don't recommend to new moms unless you want to be treated like just another patient. read more

Dr Fong gave me the exact birth experience I wanted. Below I've outlined all the reasons I wholeheartedly recommend her as an OB, but this is the most important thing I will say about her: When I delivered my child, she spent 2 hours with me massaging my perineum with oil, and thanks to her I delivered an 8lb 10oz baby vaginally and I DID NOT TEAR! She took so much care with my body, it actually amazed me. She didn't care that it was 4am, and she had to work a full day after my delivery. She didn't intervene to make it go more quickly. She patiently waited for my child's head to mould and eased him out, in order to protect me from a difficult and painful recovery. This is not something you know in advance, but it's something you desperately need. You are at your OB's mercy in that moment. You need someone who is committed to taking care of you in that way, and not all OBs are. And for the rest: Throughout my pregnancy Dr Fong was knowledgeable, helpful, kind and compassionate. I met with several OBs and she was the only one to tell me in our first appointment that her goal was a healthy mom, healthy baby and a vaginal birth. No one else assured me they would do everything they could to help me deliver vaginally which was very important to me. As my pregnancy progressed I came to really like her and appreciate the way she cared about the full picture of my health as a new mom - talking with me about the profound effects having a child has on a marriage, and how to care for myself and connect with my partner. I always appreciated her practical approach. She is an OB after all. She's delivered thousands of babies, she knows what's a real problem and what's not. I had a bi-lobed placenta, which turned out not to be a big deal. She made sure I saw a specialist to monitor it, but she had no qualms about me delivering vaginally, and helped calm my fears about any potential issues. So, while Dr Fong was lovely, the staff are quite awful and unfortunately my first visit here will also be my last. I talked to them on the phone about doing blood work too and they said it was included in the visit. They call earlier in the week to confirm the appointment, all good. I go there, appointment at 3.30, I'm done at 4.02... At which point they tell me sorry, the blood guys close at 4pm. Seeing as it's 4.03 at this point I make a bit of a fuss, because hey - I had specifically asked! They relent, get me to the room... Only to tell me I should have been fasting and they can't do the blood work without that and I should come back. Well... Definitely not coming back there. Thanks dudes, for a f*cking wasted afternoon that I had to take off work. I kept switching between one and two stars, because Dr Fong was nice - but then I realised since I only got some of the services agreed upon, I decided to give them the exact same amount of stars I'd give someone who waxed only one leg and then told me to make another appointment for the other. read more

She is VERY cheerful and knowledgable, she provided advice not only on health but also on preparing for baby after delivery. Dr. Fong treated me through my miscarriage. She was kind and had good bedside manners throughout the terrible experience. She is probably a good doctor if you are pregnant, but not if you are struggling to conceive. That ordeal was terrible. She prescribed a medicine that left me with very adverse effects and then couldn't see me until almost 2 months later. Shocked and offended, I instead asked for my medical records so I could go elsewhere. My assumption is that they have too many patients. There were definitely other issues as well. I wasted a lot of time at that office, but at least I finally found an ob-gyn who listens to me, is accessible, and has a great office staff. read more

Dr. Della Fong at Fair Oaks Women's Health is my guide and Sherpa through my first pregnancy. She has an excellent bedside manner and a warm smile. She is a patient soul and answers all of my questions. Actually, she answers all of my questions before I even ask them! The facility is very nice and the staff has always been gracious and attentive. All your records are electronic, you receive text alerts for appointments and phone call updates after every blood test. I expect in a few months time Dr. Fong will be there and guide and this little guy through a successful delivery - when that day comes - I'll update on the total beginning to end experience with Dr. Fong! The past five months have been great and I have been very happy to have her as my doctor! Parking in the lot is max $6 and the wait time is pretty typical for an efficient doctors office. I have to say I chose my OB/GYN only based on yelp reviews. I don't have many female friends in Pasadena, it's my 1st pregnancy so everything is new. I am very satisfied with my choice. Dr. Fong is calm and understanding. At the same time she is very knowledgeable. She has 2 kids of her own and often shares her won experiences with me, that's a nice touch. Went to Della for my first birth and had an amazing experience. She gave me freedom to choose the natural birth plan I wanted with no pressure. She also always gave her sound Medi-cal opinion with care. I felt very comfortable knowing how excellent of a surgeon she is, if that was needed. I highly recommend Dr. Della fong. She's very nice and easy to talk to. She answers all your questions. She's very smart. I only come for my woman exams. I do have friends that had in vitro with her and are very satisfied with their results. The wait time is kinda long even with appointment, about an hour. You also have to pay for parking. Max is $6 per day. Rate is per hour. I am willing to drive out here and pay for parking just to see Dr. Della fong. It's hard to find a good doc specially when it comes to woman stuff. read more

Dr. Fong bed side manners are good, I would have given her 4 stars but she follows the office rules, she has to. The problem is the way this office runs. I have to give her 1 Star because in general they treat all pregnant women like cows. They move so fast from patient to patient that you barely see the doctor 4 minutes, they move all women here one after another so fast. Everything is done through their assistants, I don't need a assistant, I need an OB. The day I gave birth no one answered the phone, it was on Saturday at 8:30am. I was in so much pain and it was impossible to talk to someone in this office. It's terrible not to be able to get an answer. Do Not go to this office. I think that given birth is one of the most important moments of a women life. When I was giving birth, another doctor from a completely different office, that I never heard of, arrive and help me to deliver my baby. I asked where is Dr. Fong? Where are the other doctors from her office? This doctor whom I don't even know her name because she didn't introduce her self (my husband thought she was the nurse) said not body from their office is available today, and that's why I am here, I thought than where are all the lab exams results, these people in the hospital don't know my pregnancy history, nothing, no way to know, just what they asked me and what I said, what I could remember in a moment of pain. I was extremely disappointed, Dr. Fong said she was going to be there for me ( she should have explained that if it was a weekend or different hours some body that she probably doesn't know, from a different office will be there) and than it was my choice to decide whether I want whatever doctor or I rather have a doctor that I knew. I'm sure I'm not the first patient that has been in this situation, it was a bad experience. If you don't care which doctor will be at the moment you deliver your precious baby, than you go to this office where you are never treated in a personal manner and where all they care is about your money. Dr. Fong is one of the best doctors I have worked with! She is extremely knowledgeable, has great bedside manner and is very patient. During my first pregnancy, Dr Fong always took her time to answer all my questions and made me feel extremely comfortable - never made me feel rushed or stupid for asking any questions. Later in my pregnancy I was considered high-risk, and Dr Fong gave me sound medical advice. It's easy to tell that she truly enjoys what she does and cares about her patients. Earlier this year, I moved to the east coast and I miss her so much. She has definitely set a very high bar for the rest of the doctors I will be working with. read more

2 stars because Dr. Fong is ok, but the staff and the attitude in the office is poor 1 star, at best. Long story short, the staff was "not sure" on our lab results for a sperm count test (pretty important!!), made multiple billing code errors that they still refuse to correct or help us correct. I don't understand how anyone can have anything negative to say about Dr. Fong or the Fair Oaks Women's Health Center. I recently had a miscarriage (which was devastating to my family) but Dr. Fong and Rachel (the ultrasound specialist) made the whole process bearable. They scheduled me for ultrasounds every week so I could track the progress of the pregnancy and carefully explained exactly what was happening, being both honest while maintaining hopefulness throughout the process. I honestly couldn't have chosen a better OB for my pregnancy. I am now pregnant again and I couldn't imagine going to someone other than Dr. Della Fong. Her staff is so incredibly pleasant, good at calling me back, patient with my incessant calls and questions, and informative. They really understood why I was anxious and how I must be feeling with the impending miscarriage and really REALLY took care of me, scheduling me for an appointment any time I needed or wanted. I like working with intelligent people who treat me as an intelligent person and I've never experienced anyone with better bedside manners than Dr. Fong and her staff. I realized how lucky I was to have found Dr. Fong when I had a high fever one night during that pregnancy and I went to the emergency room closer to my home in Northridge. The ER doctor and the staff were terrible and couldn't tell me what was wrong with me. They did all kinds of blood work and their conclusion at the end in the paperwork they gavme stated, "Pregnancy" as the diagnosis - I thought DUH, I told you that already when I checked into the ER. Well I took the bloodwork from the ER to Dr. Fong during my next appointment and within 5 minutse of looking at the paperwork and asking me questions, she noticed there was something in the bloodwork that was higher than it should be and told me I likely just had an infection of some sort not related to the pregnancy. I can't believe she could tell me that from the bloodwork papers when several ER doctors could not tell me that after physically observing, poking, and prodding me for hours. I'll never go to any other doctor for OB related issues other than her. It's well worth the wait for an appointment with Dr. Fong and the FOWH center. They are professional and really REALLY good at what they do. I feel I'm in great hands. Thank you so much Dr. Fong for being so patient with me throughout this difficult process. read more

Dr Fong is undoubtedly one of the best Ob/Gyns in Pasadena. She is very knowledgeable and answers all your questions, (however stupid they may be) patiently. My baby was overdue and everyone around me was trying to convince me that I would be having this baby by C-section. I shared all my concerns with Dr Fong and even though my condition was not too great, I believe she waved her magic wand and everything went so smoothly. No C-section, No episiotomy, No unnecessary medication and I was holding my "overdue" baby in my hands, all thanks to Dr Fong. Love her and love the FOWH practice. Dr. Della Fong of Fair Oaks Womens Health was a godsend for me. I had a cervical cancer scare two years ago. I was scared by this diagnosis because I wanted to prevent cancer before it happened without hurting my chances of future fertility. The first OBGYN I went to made me feel stupid for asking questions, but Dr. Fong took her time to patiently answer each question I had. She came up with a solution that worked for me and has been watching over me for the past two years. I am now completely healthy. She has been such a blessing to me and I highly recommend her to all my female friends. read more

Dr. Fong has all the great qualities I look for in a doctor. She has excellent bed side manners. She really listens to you, addresses your concerns, and takes her time to explain things to you. She's attentive and caring and will order all the tests she thinks you need to diagnosis your condition without you asking her. She is one of the few doctors in the world that will personally respond to emails. She will respond to your emails when she is home and give you emergency appointment when the appointment desk tells you the next available appointment is 6 weeks later. She is the best obygn doctor I found. She has been my doctor since 2013 and I look forward to have her deliver my future babies. Her office staff is great too. I had a billing issue with the lab because the same tests was ordered twice. The lab had a false positive the first time. The second time the lab result was negative. My insurance will only pay for the test once. I explained to the lab that I shouldn't have to pay for the test because it was the lab's fault that the first test was a false positive. Lab said they should be paid twice because they perform the lab twice. I couldn't reason with the lab. In the end, Dr. Fong's two assistants resolved the issue for me with the lab. I am absolutely obsessed with her. My friend referred me and I was nervous because I'm a creature of habit, but my previous doctor wasn't available for my annual, and she is MAGICAL. She has such great energy and so much information for all my random questions. Best part?? No wait. My appointment was at 1115am, and I came 30 mins early to fill out paperwork. As soon as I was done with the paperwork, they led me right in and I waited MAYBE 3 minutes before she came. This has been a ridiculously awesome experience. SUCH a terrific doctor AS WELL AS office staff. I took like 6 business cards because I'd recommend her to everyone. read more

Dr. Fong was just amazing with my recent "surprise" pregnancy! I hadn't had a baby in 12-years and so much had changed that I think I had more questions than my first pregnancy but she walked me through everything so calmly and graciously. Dr. Fong was my OB for my recent pregnancy and I had a wonderful experience with her as my doctor! From the beginning she has been patient and informative whenever I had questions. Her demeanor towards me has always been happy and pleasant. I could tell that she always had my best interest in mind when it came to medical advice and decision making. She didn't push for me to be induced when I went past my due date, but checked the status of the baby via NST twice a week. When one of the NSTs was less than perfect, she gave me the option of induction without any pressure to do so. She has also been a great resource for breastfeeding tips and support. The office gets busy (they are high in demand) but she's worth the wait. I would definitely recommend Dr. Fong to any women requiring GYN/OB care. read more

Best Obgyn office and doctor in town!! i love Dr. Della Fong and everyone there. I've never been treated rudely by their staff as experienced by some other people. the front desk and all the nurses are super nice and helpful. I've never waited for more than 10 minutes for my appointments. Great doctor great staff. i will definitely recommend them to everyone i know!! read more
