I'm very grateful to Dr. Chou and her team at the new Arcadia office. She delivered both of my babies by C-section, and I'm thankful that both deliveries went smoothly and resulted in two healthy boys. Dr. Chou is very professional and highly skilled. My recovery after both surgeries was smooth, and the incision scars are minimal. She also has excellent bedside manner and is very attentive to details, which made me feel comfortable and well cared for throughout the process. Her team at the office is also wonderful. Communication is clear, appointments run smoothly, and the staff is always helpful. The office may not be fancy or full of extra services, but they truly make you feel cared for and listened to. If I could give a negative review, I would. Whatever you do, stay away from this doctor. I saw her to ask about getting an IUD, and she literally said to me, "Why can't men just wear condoms?" I was in shock. She then proceeded to try to talk me out of getting an IUD, saying that because I've never had children, I don't know what pain is. She was incredibly insensitive, and I couldn't believe I was talking to a medical professional. Additionally, she didn't offer or recommend any other birth control options. If I can give negative star to this review, I'll give negative star for the person that I talked to, her name is Annette, later on I found out that's the manager, the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE in Dr Chou office or in medical field. I made my annual Pap check up with Dr Chou in 12/29/2026 half year ago, when I was there for my last appointment. Today she called me to reschedule because Dr Chou will be on her vacation during that time, and she gave me the appointment in January 2027, due to insurance policy, i only allow to do annual check up once a year, if Dr can't take me this year, i will loose my benefits of this year. So I asked her can her schedule with Dr before my original appointment, she said I can't because insurance won't cover. So I said it the office fault not the patient fault, then she started lecturing me that Dr deserves a break time, vacation with family blad blad... so I told her I never said Dr can't or not allow to take break or vacation. But also it not fair for the patient too. Then she said only a week different with my original appointment, and that my appointment Pap not important. HOW RUDE IS THAT, who is she thinking and deciding that my health appointment not " IMPORTANT ", if god forbid something happens to me, and the delay of the exam. WHO GONNA TAKE RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT. Beside that she had BAD ATTITUDE to talked back to the patient, she was talking same time as me, like try competing with the patient. When I want to talk to someone else, she refused and said no one can talk to me other than her. I met her at the office last year during the Dr visit at the office, she has the RUDE ATTITUDE with the patients and her colleagues too. Dr Chou really needs to talk to her about the way she handles and talks to patients. If she doesn't want to loose the patients. And plus I have been going to Dr Chou for 12 years, I had 2 kids were delivered by Dr Chou, she's excellent OBGYN DR. I'm extremely upset with the front desk staff. They first asked me for my expected delivery date and my insurance type, specifically confirming it was PPO. But once they learned my insurance was from Covered California, they suddenly rejected me by claiming the doctor was unavailable on my delivery date. Patients aren't stupid--we know exactly what's going on. You don't have to blatantly lie to our faces like this. read more

The front desk person is really rude! I have never spoken to an office receptionist that was so rude and condescending. I called to make an appointment and decided not to after how she treated me on the phone. Even if the doctor is great but if the front desk person gave horrible service and is at the front line before you can even get to the doctor then what is even the point? Not a good experience with her. Always a long wait and took forever for her to show up at the hospital.

I was pregnant with twins and experienced some bleeding. I did some research and found Dr. Chou and another OB as well to see if they can squeeze me in for an appointment. The other Dr.'s office refuse to provide me an earlier appointment. Luckily Dr. Chou's office was able to squeeze me in earlier even with her busy schedule, so that I can see her for a check up due to the bleeding. Dr. Chou is very soft spoken. She is very careful knowing that I would be high risk while carrying twins. She immediately referred me to a high risk Dr. and a thyroid Dr. to monitor my pregnancy progress as I was seeing her. She even put me on bedrest to ensure that babies will be staying in as long as they can. I had high blood pressure during pregnancy, so I had to do an emergency c-section. It was traumatizing because I was losing a lot of blood due to my uterus being too stretched bearing twins. Nonetheless, Dr Chou assured me that I would be taken care of. After careful treatment, I did not require additional surgeries and had a successful delivery. Thanks to Dr. Chou's, I was able to give birth to two healthy, beautiful twin girls. I can not thank her enough for everything that she has done for me and the twins. read more

Dr. Chou must be the most peaceful, professional, and calm person in her field! I was pregnant with my 2nd son and my original OB Gyn moved office so Dr. Chou was who my husband and I decided see for our most recent delivery. During my delivery, Dr. Chou checked up on my throughout the early morning, and by 5am she was on her way to see me while my contractions were building up. By 8am she was hands on, with all the nurses ready to deliver the baby. She knew exactly when to tell me to push, for how many seconds each time, when to breathe in, and out. She's delivered so many times in her lifetime, it really shows her experience by the way she delivered my son-- we were done pushing in 10 minutes! I highly recommend Dr. Chou. She's worth the wait: she's always taking care of her in-labor moms at the hospital, so sometimes I had to wait a bit longer for my checkups at her office-- but that just shows how much she cares and how professionally she handles everything when it comes to the hour that matters most to you and your family!! I highly recommend Dr. Chou to anyone who is looking to deliver their child in the area she serves! read more

I reviewed Dr. Chou during my pregnancy and I just wanted to come back after my labor and delivery. Wow, Dr. Chou and her entire team were there for me the entire time. I didn't have a complicated pregnancy, but I did have special considerations to monitor and Dr. Chou was on top of everything. People have commented on her personality - yes, I suppose she's a more soft-spoken person, but this has nothing to do with her expertise. I think she is very confident and weighs all possibilities mindfully. During my final week of pregnancy she guided me thoroughly. In between my induction and recovery, I saw her four times and really appreciated how she handled everything! Our delivery was such a success! read more

I am so lucky to have Doctor Chou as my OB doctor during my pregnancy and delivery. I am almost 40 years old when pregnant and I have some problems during my pregnancy. Doctor Chou is so professional and nice! She helped me to solve all my problems related to the pregnancy. Me and my baby are both very lucky to have Doctor Chou with us. My baby came 5 weeks earlier than the due day on last August. Doctor Chou came to me as soon as she knew I was in the hospital. She explained everything to me and made me calm. The C section was smooth and my baby born healthy. My baby stayed in the NICU for only a few days and everything was good then we went home very happy. Thank you Doctor Chou! I had the worst experience with this OBGYN office. I've been trying to see Dr. Chao since late April and now it's in the middle of August. I've had my appt rescheduled multiple times and the last time was an hr before my appt. The receptionist Annette had no empathy, she spoke over me several times and told me to look for a gyno instead of an OBGYN, um hello, all gynos are OBs, I have not found one that's just a gyno. She basically told me that other patients were more important than finding any life threading issues with me. All the other staff have been pleasant, but Annette, she's rude AF and gave bad advice. I'm not surprised with the ratings this office gets. The Doctors in that office location should think about why they're not seeing much clients. It's probably 75% due to the staff, they're referring potentially new and reoccurring patients away. read more

I've decided to write this review after seeing a new doctor, waiting a few weeks to write with a clear head and to give a bigger picture of the situation to make sure I wasn't going to write a one-star review out of anger. My overall experience with this office, both staff and doctor was not the quality that was reflected in the other reviews, and they are a great example of the issues in the healthcare system. I was referred to Cindy Chou through my physician in August of this year after I learned I was pregnant. Made an appointment 3 weeks out, but what my doctor neglected to tell me was the location. Her office is in Alhambra while I live in Burbank. Not an easy drive and I'm not holding the office accountable for that, but what follows, I will. Before my appointment arrived, I gave them my email, phone number, and information to call me if need be. They did not follow up to remind me of my appointment as most professional medical offices due. First red flag. I ended up trying to call the office three times the week I knew the appointment was and every single time it went to an operator at the hospital rather than an answering machine for them to return my call. The operator ended up routing me back to the office again, but then it sent me in a circle back to the operator. Needless to say, I called later and found my appointment time, and it was the next day. Very unprofessional and they didn't even say they were going to call me from the start. I arrived at the office with my husband because normally the husband is allowed during the first ultrasound. Walked into the office, they said he wasn't allowed anywhere near the office and had to wait outside. I understand it's a pandemic, but a little warning ahead of time would have made a big difference for him and me in the terms of convenience. I went into the appointment with Cindy Chou and she was nice, but when I told her my plan to give birth outside a Hosptial due to past experiences she gave me a disgusted almost horrified look like I was crazy. Not professional to judge a patient's wishes especially if this is their first time meeting them. Second red flag. She took the ultrasound and I told her about my pregnancy experience so far, but she didn't ask for any medical history before the pregnancy. Normally that's always the first question to ask a new patient and she seemed more preoccupied with just having me do tests than telling me what the tests were for. I was with her for less than twenty minutes and she did a pap smear, BEYOND PAINFUL TO THE POINT I WAS CRYING, then she left. At that point, I should have realized it wasn't going to work out but I moved forward. They scheduled bloodwork, genetic testing, and other tests I wasn't aware that I needed. But later on, when I attempted to schedule for genetic testing they said the office messed up the paperwork and had to send it all over again. I called the office to clear things up and no surprise, they sent me to the operator. It took me all day to figure things out and by the time I did get the appointment, I couldn't move forward after learning why they do the tests in the first place. I did the blood work as scheduled and from there my gut was telling me to find a new doctor after the issues I was facing. The second appointment came and the same issues of not calling to remind me of the appointment, the front desk disorganized, and just getting a hold of anyone was all the same. I explained I will be finding a new OBGYN and she was okay with that, but she also said I needed my 20-week anatomy ultrasound between 16-20 weeks, and the 20-week mark was the cut-off point. After I found a new doctor, who is much better and listens to me, they had to transfer my information over. I called on a Tuesday to ask to send the authorization forms. They didn't send them until I had to call back a week later to ask for them again and it was the day before the appointment because of the holidays. They even asked who I talked to and I mentioned I didn't know because the person didn't give me a name and the office was so disorganized I doubt that they would tell me. They sent the form that day, but they said it wasn't likely they could send my records by the appointment. After it was their fault they didn't send the form to me in the first place by the way. Thankfully my new OBGYN's office is professional and was able to get the records in time for the appointment after pushing this office to do their job. He also gave me new information about my pregnancy that Dr. Chou did not inform me of that would have been helpful from day one. It also turns out the twenty-week mark was not the cut-off point as they said and had put me and my baby through a lot of stress for no reason. If you had a better experience than myself, hats off to you and your health. But I will not be returning to this office and realize they were disorganized WAY before Covid hit so be aware of that prior to going in. read more

i started seeing dr chou later in my first trimester after a horrendous experience with my prior obgyn. dr chou is a very soft spoken, kind and professional individual that takes good care of her patients and makes sure they're comfortable throughout their whole pregnancy. to any first time mom, labor + delivery seems like such a scary, daunting procedure but dr chou definitely takes those worries away. because of her, i had a healthy pregnancy and smooth and fast labor. i've seen quite a few doctors in my lifetime and she's easily the most caring one - she's also very good at what she does and you can tell she genuinely cares for your well-being. her staff are equally just as great and i've never ran into a problem with any of them as they're super friendly and are always answering any questions i may have. wait times are slightly longer during busy/peak days but that's a given at any doctors office. not gonna lie, i was a bit sad once my pregnancy was over knowing i wouldn't be able to see her and her amazing staff again until my next pregnancy lol so you can say i'm most definitely keeping her as my obgyn. read more

Dr Chou delivered my last child. I was sent to her because I was "high risk" since my fourth child would be my fourth c-section. As far as OB she is an excellent doctor. Very attentive, makes you feel comfortable. Fast forward to me needing her as a GYN. Not the same doctor/experience. It seems that they are more interested in those that are with child. Any other problem is not of concern or priority. They don't return phone calls and they are never available for appointments other than OB. I have had to search for a different doctor since my problem is urgent for me but not for the doctor. read more

Dr Chou is amazing. I had a very smooth delivery experience throughout my pregnancy. Her staff Lonnie and Lina are very friendly and made me feel very comfortable. Every time when I visited Dr Chou for my routine checkups, she made me feel secured and in good hands. She is very professional and knowledgeable. I gave a birth through natural birth. Right before 40 weeks pregnancy, my baby was still not wanting to come out, so Dr Chou worked her magic hands with her unique skill to accelerate my speed of dilation, that worked extremely effective. In the evening, I was starting to feel contraction. Thank her so much that I didn't need to use pitocin and had a fast delivery. Now that my baby is 5 and half months old growing very healthy. Can't be more thankful to Dr Chou and I wish her all the bests. Go for her and you will never be upset. read more

Dr. Chou is great. This review is based upon her staff in the front. Specifically the middle aged asian women with glasses manning the receptionist desk. She is RUDE! Has poor client services. Does not do well at explaining. Gave us a condescending look and attitude while we were talking to her. In addition we waited over 80min past our appointment time before we even saw the dr. What is the point of an appointment if they cannot be on time. Poor office management is the problem. And the root cause is obviously that asian lady in her late 50s early 60s. I am so happy we had Dr. Chou as our OB! She was awesome. Not many OB's take on twins IVF's and we were lucky enough that she took us on. We wanted to deliver at Arcadia Methodist and that is the hospital she uses. She is very soft spoken and really friendly. Super knowledgeable and always answered all our questions. Never made us feel uncomfortable or gave us any signs to worry. If you watch Glee, she is EXACTLY like Ms. Pillsbury! Parking costs $1 but they always have street parking available. Rooms were really clean. She printed pictures for us whenever we wanted them. The staff were friendly and helpful. Scheduling appointments was easy. Wait time was hit or miss, sometimes less then 10 minutes, sometimes it was 15-30 minutes. It gets busy during certain times of the day. Late appointments were less crowded. We didn't want to know the gender until our reveal so she always made sure we didn't look at the screen when we hovered around the areas. She put the genders in an envelope for us when we had our party. We did C-Section and it went really well. My wife was not in much pain. She was up an about on day 2. The cut is healing really well and you can barely see it! Great work! Warning, your appointments might get canceled due to delivery. We had 3 appointments changed because she had to deliver. Thank you for delivering our healthy baby boy and girl. We are happy to have shared this journey with Dr. Chou!!! read more

I was waiting to deliver my baby to do a review, but now that i'm 9 months pregnant, i think i can give some honest feedback about my experiences with her so far. like the other reviews mentioned, yes she is very soft spoken and very gentle. at first it was a bit off-putting and i wasn't sure what to make of it, but now that i'm ready to deliver, there's nobody i trust more than her to keep me and my baby safe and happy. she spends a significant amount of time doing ultrasounds and showing me all the aspects of my growing baby's body. she doesn't rush the process and does a full body scan of my baby to confirm we are both healthy and on track. when i had issues or questions about my pregnant body, she checked them immediately or ran any tests to take all precaution. i never felt dismissed or judged by her and always felt secure that if anything went wrong, she'd know about it and we'd handle it. now that i'm due in four weeks, i went over my birth plan with her recently and she assured me everything will go as i planned unless an emergency arose. she acknowledged my desires and said she normally lets the parents have their way during the birth process which was such a relief to hear! she also mentioned that she hardly ever wants to resort to a c-section unless it's utterly mandatory and they've exhausted all of their resources to have a vaginal birth. ALL SO SO COMFORTING especially for a first time mom who has been nervous during this entire pregnancy! after making it this far with her, i feel safe and ready for my birth. i see her at the sierra madre location which is convenient to get to, has great parking, is clean and well kept, and the staff has been nothing but pleasant. i literally have nothing bad to say about her and i am so excited to meet my daughter really soon with the help of Dr. Chou!!l read more

Dr. Chou really knows what she is doing when it comes to having a baby. I went to her for my 3rd child and despite having delivered my first two 3 weeks early, I was able to go full term for my third and even had to be induced. I had a beautiful healthy baby girl and Dr. Chou handled the delivery with such professionalism and care. She made sure I was as comfortable as possible during the delivery and kept me up to date on how the baby was doing until she came out into the world. The only problem I had with her Santa Anita office while I was pregnant with my 3rd were the office staff (specifically the nurses) who either didn't know what they were doing or were just plain rude and unaccommodating. I had to call several times to complain and even write a complaint letter to get some feedback, but I think Dr. Chou has resolved the issue with her staff. Additionally, the wait time is over a half an hour so make sure to set your appointment early enough to accommodate a long wait time. But Dr. Chou is worth the wait because she has the experience and most importantly, she really cares for her patients and makes sure she is the one who delivers your baby. read more

Dr. Chou has been helping me throughout my pregnancy. Although the wait is a little long sometimes when you have a later appointment time, it's because she is thorough and answers any questions you have. I never feel rushed when talking to her, she makes me feel very comfortable and so does her staff. I really appreciate the staff keeping everyone safe and everything clean during the Covid-19 pandemic. I was a first time mom who had no experience with vaginal delivery. Dr. Chou was able to provide me with concise and clear instructions on which muscle groups to use when pushing. She gave me immediate feedback on what was done right and what could've been improved on. This sped up the delivery process tremendously. I delivered my baby in a bit over an hour after Dr. Chou arrived in my delivery room. Even though it was early morning, she was ready, prepared, and engaging. I recommend discussing all of your concerns with her. She always patiently answered my questions and concerns. read more

Went here for pap check ups and Dr Cindy Chou was not very personable, she would give me very vague information I had to practically pull teeth to get her to explain things to me. She did not make me feel like I fully understood what was going on with my body. I always felt very uneasy and confused when I would leave. Horrible experience. Truly horrendous. Just a quick backdrop. An innocent attempt to update records with my wife's HMO results in her getting kicked out of her group and reassigned to another doctor when she was 3-4 months pregnant. We took it as a sign, and since she didn't love her OB, to find one we liked. Dr. Chou came recommended by a couple of folks so we thought we'd try with her. I contacted her office and confirmed 1) the Groups they took (they took 2 different ones) and 2) that she was accepting new clients. I confirmed this twice. It took a whole lot of work and coordination to get the right group into place with my wife's HMO plan. It was a major pain in the rear, let me tell you. We finally got everything squared away and spoke with her office again. We told them our situation, and asked how we could facilitate a visit b/c my wife had already missed her first checkup with the OB during this time. My wife had to drop by their office, pick up a release of info slip, and fill it out. They told us they would get the info from her current OB and that's what we needed to do. Nothing happened. Followed up and they didn't send or receive the info. My wife then has to take time, call both offices, and coordinates the transfer of records. More time passes, and this being our first child, we were super nervous going for that long w/o a checkup. We finally coordinate everything and Dr. Chou's office (I believe it's Lonny?) tells us that Dr. Chou won't accept my wife as a new patient. Say What?! Actually, then her office told us that Dr. Chou would accept her if and only if we signed up with the other group. Um, wouldn't that info be pertinent when we began this process? Next two days, my wife (with help from her boss), calls HealthNet and coordinates the changes to the group and all that it entails. Note that she called Dr. Chou's office again just to confirm. Finally, all the pieces are in place and everything looks lined up and ready to roll... Except that Dr. Chou again refuses to take my wife as a client. Beyond furious is the word here. Caring about patients is apparently not what this doctor is about. And really, it would have just been courteous to let us know at the very beginning, or really along any step of the way, that they were not going to accept my wife as a patient. We would have been fine. Instead, to go through all the insurance hell and the hoops for nothing, is just an insult. read more

Dr. Chou is the "in" OBGYN to have for many in the SGV but I have to warn you away. From personal experience, Dr. Chou was totally non-responsive even when contacting her office with a medical emergency. I really wouldn't recommend you put your life, or your child's into this Dr's hands. I also heard several stories from other people which reflected extremely poorly on Dr. Chou but will not repeat here to protect their privacy. read more

My primary suggested Dr. Chou. I have been very disappointed in Dr. Chou's lack of knowledge or help me in regards to trying to conceive. She provided zero insight on things to work on while trying to conceive, next steps that would need to be taken, and demonstrated very little compassion. In addition, I have had to follow up multiple times on each test I requested: Blood work and ultrasound. I had to call again today to find out where my referral was so that I can go to a fertility specialist. The person I spoke to this morning said she would call me back in a few minutes. I never heard from anyone again. It has been over two weeks since Dr. Chou told me she would send me the referral. I finally called my HMO insurance and they told me I had to obtain the referral from Dr. Chou before I can move forward. This has been an incredibly frustrating journey and more so because Dr. Chou does not seem to really care. read more

Dr. Chou delivered my son in October and I have nothing but the highest compliments and respect for the job she did and the care, comfort, and peace-of-mind she provided my wife. It took me and my wife a couple visits to warm up to Dr. Chou, but in the end, I consider meeting her a blessing. At first we thought she seemed aloof or uncertain, which was a total misjudgment on my part. I realize now that I was judging her with the impatience and skepticism of a first time father. Looking back at the experience, I can see now that she has complete respect for the diversified beliefs of ALL her patients, hence the lack of conviction in telling you what's best for YOUR pregnancy. Not everyone wants / don't wants epidural / c-section / circumcision / etc / etc / etc as part of their birth plans. So she's not going to push you one way or another. Trust her, though. Have you ever completed a job, and when you get home, find yourself nodding to yourself and feeling awesome for doing such a fine job? I bet that's what Dr. Chou feels like when she gets home every day, cause she's frickin good at what she does. I've seen her in the delivery room and she is a rock star. Don't just take my word for it. Ask around. When we toured our delivery hospital, every staff member we spoke with had nothing but praises for her. (You can tell.. the conversations weren't just: "Oh cool, Dr. Chou". It was more like: "Excellent Doctor! You are in great hands.") And every nurse we worked with showed the utmost respect for her. ******* On a side note, Dr. Chou's San Gabriel office is super busy. Wait time's can be longer than comfortable for a pregnant woman, so you may want to bring a snack. I attribute it to the economy picking up and it being the year of the dragon. Hang in there. I don't understand all these negative reviews on Dr. Chou? She is so supportive and understanding. And I would never go to anyone else. I'm one of those crazed paranoid patients when pregnant and even when I act that way she still takes the time to listen to my concerns and helps reassure me. I owe Dr. Chou a deep debt of gratitude for helping me to deliver my babies safely into this world. It was through Dr. Chou's careful monitoring that I found out I have incompetency cervix and is considered a high risk pregnancy. Despite all my medical problems being pregnant I still delivered my babies at full term. Prior to meeting Dr. Chou I have had other OBGYN doctors and they were not nearly as concerned or caring. She is the only one I trust for great medical care and I would highly recommend her. read more

I have had the privilege of being Dr. Chou patient during my pregnancy with my first daughter. She is soft spoken, professional, attentive, and always listens to your concerns, and needs. I will forever be thankful she was my doctor during such a special time in my life. When I became pregnant with my 2nd child my job switched insurance and I had to change my OBGYN. What a difference! Dr. Cindy Chou is an EXCELLENT doctor. My wife needed an emergency c-section after we had just completed 37 weeks and Dr. Cindy Chou handled the whole situation with great composure and performed the c-section perfectly. We were scared the whole time, but Dr. Chou's voice and mannerism were very calming. Honestly, we were so lucky to have Dr. Chou as our obgyn as she turned a very scary moment of our life since it was an emergency c-section to a calming atmosphere and performed brilliantly in the surgery room as everything went so swift and fast. Also, regarding our experience with our check up visits with Dr. Chou, looking back she always would note to us all the important things we needed to know and do. Dr. Chou is gentle, extremely nice, patient, and although a bit soft spoken showed concern when needed. Be prepared with questions as she may not offer her take or advice on your pregnancy. read more

All I have to say is: she cares. She cares more than you think and she will protect you in ways that you dont even notice. For example, if you trust her and are open to a c-section if your baby is too big to deliver vaginally, she will warn you, but she will give you a chance to try vaginal. But if the circumstances change and, for instance, your water broke and you arent dilating for 30+ hours, chances are, you wont make it vaginally, and she will decide to do a c-section with your consent.
