She care all her patients even fall on weekends once she receives the report she would still contact me and let me know the results either normal or abnormal that really thoughtful coz that I won't be worry about the results for the whole weekend. First I'd like to say she's a very knowledgeable doctor who knows what shes doing. She doesn't sugar coat anything and is very straight forward. But with that said I didn't like the fact that she required any type of procedure being done to be paid in full in advance. I had full covered insurance, and still required me to pay for everything upfront, which for someone who doesn't have $2000 laying around to pay for a procedure up front but really needs it done, yeah I didn't think that was cool. I went to Dr Michelle Yu and she immediately understood my issue, after seeing my CT and MRI. She was understanding, compassionate and gave me her view. I was able to get scheduled quickly. I would say I wouldnt change my choice having her. She went so far as having an oncologist in the surgery and because of that, there was a decision made immediately. She did an excellent job and follow up was great. I am now mending and it wasn't cancer but had all the symptoms of being cancer. If you choose her, you'll feel the same a out her care. read more

Dr. Yu is a fantastic GYN. She is very educating and practical. She is straightforward about what she needs to do during the appointment and what you as a patient need to do going forward. Don't go to her Monterey park Clinic to do pep smear. The staffs are very dirty, they don't clean their hands and rub on the ultra sound metal stick and try put it into my vaginal to do ultra sound. It happened in around August 2021, the staff around 60, who use her hands to collect the money and then went into the exam room to get the ultra sound machine preparation. I saw she did not clean her hands and rub onto the metal bar that is going to stick into vaginal for ultra sound. Patients would get infection for sure. I think they want to get more business. They make patients to get infection and they need to go back to see the doctor. I heard the talking between that staff and the doctor. I think they are relatives. I don't recommend this dirty staffs and clinic. read more

If you want your OB to treat you like livestock from industrialized farming and milk you for all the insurance money like a cash cow, go ahead and give this place a shot! First things first for criteria - the criterion from which all other criteria falls of selecting any kind of doctor - is the degree of humane respect with which they view their patient's body. She/her receptionist tried to withhold test results which is a HIPAA violation (patient can get their results if they pay for it; there's even signage in their office that copies will cost $1-5). Upon obtaining the actual results, it revealed the lab itself noted in layman's terms (it wasn't one of those ambiguous tests where it's just acronyms and numbers with decimals and reliant on professional and possibly varying interpretation) that the accuracy of the test could not be determined because the sample was obscured in 75% blood. I have never experienced a doctor so forceful about how you should "just do" as she tells you. She did not initially want to turn over the results without another appointment ($$) to convince you. Instead of a retest, she uncompromisingly demanded a biopsy; not even a retest then a colposcopy but a biopsy because suddenly you're at a higher risk of cancer because of test results that were so unreliable they should've been thrown out. She is out for cervical flesh to bill. Over the phone her interpretation of the test (before it was produced to the patient) was that it was "93%" positively accurate. 93% is absolutely nowhere to be seen on the produced lab result! Indeed quite the opposite. Apparently, Dr. Yu "doesn't even science" middle school scientific method 101. Unreliable sample yields unreliable results that cannot be fully and reliably evaluated. From her rude demeanor and rough handling another appointment would not have convinced anyone that they shouldn't see another doctor and get their results which will show you exactly how much she plays into fear mongering tactics and manipulates the information she is supposed to honestly disseminate. I posted a photo of the results and what is not shown is what was above the section photographed in *bold and bullet-arrow point* "Unable to provide interpretation due to unsatisfactory specimen adequacy." The office receptionist is rude and incompetent and rude about her incompetence which is corroborated by the many other reviews. Really wish I would have read reviews about this doctor. She makes you wait for half an hour despite not having very many patients (one an hour average) and sees you for ten minutes and much of that time is spent with personal remarks about society such as how the younger generation is lazy, etc. so be prepared to go in for an objective exam and end up being a therapist for a greedy, psychopathic sadist who takes her frustrations out on you. What kind of seasoned OB takes a simple Pap smear which even nurse practitioners are trained to do well - and practically injures a patient so much that the specimen that went to the lab couldn't be accurately verified since it's obscured in 75% blood? Michelle takes the overflow from Deborah, her sister, who seems like the better doctor and is usually over booked. There are two types of seasoned physicians - one grows more caring and sagacious and the other grows more greedy (because they're well versed in insurance) and think they already know it all. Dr Michelle Yu and the staff is great! My first visit with the office a couple years ago was a positive experience and today reiterates why I like this office so much. When I scheduled my appointment, Dr Yu was available within the same week. I was given multiple options to fit my schedule and chose an 11am appointment. I called the day before to see if I could change the appointment time and the staff was more than accommodating. She let me know if I was to come in a little later it "would be packed" but if I came at 9am it's a little quieter. She set my expectations and I literally waited 2 minutes before I was called in to see the doctor. Dr Yu is extremely professional and explains everything in great detail. She speaks quickly but that means I get twice as much information in the time I get to see her. She is so knowledgeable, I feel like I am in the best care when I see her. She welcomes all questions and is really interested in why the patient is there to see her. Update.... 9/15 Dr. Lu called me today not once but twice. She's amazing! She called me after each of the lab results came in (morning/afternoon). I'm having a little iron deficiency due to my heavy bleeding. With both phone conversations Dr. Lu was extremely caring and helpful. Once again she took her time to go over treatment options and she answered every question thoroughly. We discussed the next steps to my treatment starting with taking an iron supplement. * One thing I'd like to point out is.... When I say Dr. Lu is very thorough. She covers all areas and explains everything. I have 3 children and I'll be honest. There were times I left other Doctors Office with so many questions. When I was younger, I visited Michelle's sister (?) Deborah Yu for menstrual irregularties. Years later, in my early 20s, I booked an appointment with Michelle Yu after a close friend of mine recommended her. PROS: -Her nurse is always really nice to me when she's taking her initial notes before actually seeing Dr. Yu. -Dr. Yu is extremely helpful with any questions you may have. She does tend to talk very fast, but is attentive when she's in her appointment with you. When giving you your PAP, she'll mention when there might be some discomfort, etc. I've honestly had great experiences WITH Dr. Yu, but.... CONS: -Getting an appointment can be tough. Last time I visited, I had to book almost a month in advance since she was now working more at the hospital than at her office. -She does NOT work with a lot of insurance companies. On my most recent visit, her receptionist said she is no longer accepting Obamacare patients so I would have to pay the office visit in CASH/CHECK (out of pocket). It's a bit ridiculous, considering that I pay as much as I do for my monthly insurance premium, and my "in-network" doctor can up and decide when they no longer want to accept my health plan? -I think it's safe to say that even with an appointment scheduled, you are guaranteed to STILL be waiting 30+ minutes to an hour before you physically see Dr. Yu. This started out pretty positive and we went to Dr Yu, based on very little reviews, but still somewhat positive. Outdated equipment, and feel very rushed during appts. We originally went to Dr Yu because we wanted to have our baby at a particular hospital, but as we got closer to due date Dr Yu kept trying to steer us away from our hospital and she kept recommending Garfield Hospital (which is horrible). I came once for an annual exam. The nurse ignored me several times when I tried to correct her in recording my family history. However, the doctor was fine. Definitely not the gentlest in her physical exam but it was just fine. She also answered all my questions professionally, which I liked. Fast forward one year later... The office called. I didn't answer because I was busy. What irks me is this - I am pretty sure that the receptionist violated HIPAA by leaving personal information over voicemail. After been to two other ob-gyn's, I can safely say that Dr. Michelle Yu is one of the best in the SGV. The front desk ladies and the nurses are friendly, knowledgeable and deliver quick service. My regular ob-gyn was scheduled for vacation and I had an emergency and needed to see a dr pronto and the person scheduling the calendar was nice enough to squeeze me in the next day to see Dr. Yu. When I went in, the nurse who asked me for my information was very nice. She was courteous and answered all my questions before seeing Dr. Yu. Dr. Yu answered all my questions and took the time to make sure I had all the information I needed. I like how her attitude is very matter of fact, sometimes you don't need small talk when it comes to your body! I had a follow-up question two months after seeing her and made a phone call to ask the question. The person helping me didn't require me to step into the office but answered it over the phone. Yesterday I had try to reach out to so many doctor due to I had a procedure done last week at an urgent care in la verne. An seeing another ob doctor in Sierra madre which was a Male doctor who didnt help me as much. I had called at the location in Arcadia to see if I can see any obgyn doctor. I was talking to the receptionist and then I end up talking to dr. somehow. I was such an emotional rock due to the pain I was going though. I am so bless that Dr. Yu calm me down and promise me everything was going to be okay and she was willing to help me out. She is very educated and walk me through how to take care of my situation I was going through. She told me before I was going to go see her that there will be a wait to see me because how busy she is and that if I didnt mind waiting for her she would take me. Dr. Yu gave me a history background about her and it was nice to know more about her and her family. Not to many doctor is willing to give you the time and day. She did talk really fast when it came about my procedure and made sure I understood everything. Reading all these Yelp review about how she talks fast and the wait is long is true. Luckly she let's you know a head of time. But she does take her time with you and explain thing very thurl about what is going on. As a busy doctor ,she is willing to help everyone out. Some doctors can just turn you down. The receptionist is nice and helpful towards everything. Actually sighed in annoyance as I asked questions during my appointment... she is almost impossible to get a hold of for any test results. and if your test results are not good, you'll get a lecture about how you've totally messed up, instead of showing you any kind of sympathy. and if you need to call back later to schedule your next appointment, she'll frantically try to keep you on the phone telling you something a long the lines of "a lot of young women, are lazy and or refuse to care for themselves, never schedule their next appointment, and end up getting worse." ... they're probably never calling back and finding a new doctor.. like I will be doing. absolutely horrid. Dr. Yu has truly been a life-saver to my aunt/godmother in her yearlong battle with an aggressive & extremely complex form of breast cancer. My aunt has been having Dr. Yu as her OB for years and she was just going to her regular annual check-up in Nov 2019. While she didn't have any symptoms/pain, Dr. Yu's "super sensitive clinical hands" discovered some abnormal dense mess around my aunt's breast. Unfortunately, my aunt happened to have a very aggressive form (Her2+)/more complex form of breast cancer and it would have been a disaster and an even more difficult treatment journey if we didn't discover it early. Despite the 10-month combo treatment (chemo+ targeted therapy+ surgery+ radiation) journey and fatigue/exhaustion that my aunt went thru' in the past 10 months, she is definitely working towards recovery & it wouldn't have been possible without Dr. Yu's SUPER SENSITIVE clinical hands in discovering and diagnosing her early during her regular check-up (and when she was still symptom-free)! I didn't had a good experience with Michelle and end up need to switch to another person. She is that kind of doctor made you wait outside the office for an hour even you had an appointment. Then, when I gain weight for my pregnancy, she was so rude and demand me to laid off the carb, while I feel like I didn't eat as much as she thought (turn out that I had a lot of water weight...cause I drop the weight right away after I delivered). then, when we were talking about the needle test for down syndrome thing, she make sure give us a "big" lecture to make sure we do it even we opted out not to......and the reason behind her attitude is kind of strange.....but I will give her her the benefit of doubt .....I also had a cyst the beginnning and she performed the surgery to take it out.....the overall experience is ok. I really think if she can be more gentle and caring and listens.....the whole experience can be better. I hesitate to write this review (my son is five now) cause I don't want to trash talk a business but I really think the other mom to be out there needs take these in consideration.....cause I wish I knew. This rating is for the office front desk lady in Monterey Park location. She is an older lady who always sit at the front desk. She is very rude. There was one time, She got so mad and purposely made me wait for one hour before I can see the doctor. I went to her and asked her why other people who came after me already went in. Dr Yu is a great doctor. Howevere, because of the older lady who sit at the front desk, that made the visits to the office is not happy. A little late in my review but never too late. I never realized the importance of choosing an good OBYN until I became pregnant. I had been seeing another OBGYn for the 1st 3mos until my worried mom suggested that I switch to Dr. Michelle Yu, whom my family/relatives have gone to in the past with either Michelle or her mother whom was also an OBGYn. I immediately noticed the difference on my 1st visit with Dr Yu. She was very welcoming and kept me informed every step of the way throughout my pregnancy. Dr Yu is highly knowledgable and experienced in this industry. The wait can be long some days especially Sat but its all worth it. Although I had hoped for an vaginal delivery, I end up having an scheduled csection because my daughter was breeched. Scared as I was leading through the entire process, I felt comfort that Dr Yu is going to get me through this safely. What I had found even more amazing is that Dr Michelle Yu and her sister Dr Deborah Yu work hand in hand helping each other out in the surgery room. I would highly recommended Dr Yu. I had Dr. Yu for my first pregnancy. She was really nice and always made me feel comfortable, especially with this being my first child. She always took the time to answer my questions and made sure I knew what to expect. I've changed insurance since then and am currently looking for a new doctor because she's not in my network. So, I live in Alhambra, but eventhough my mom and aunts all swear by Dr Yu, I always venture out to Pasadena for my body needs. Call me superficial - I tend towards nicer and shinier buildings and smooth talking English proficient staff. So when I had trouble getting pregnant for the last 2 years, I went througha difficult time questioning myself, hubby, etc and just couldn't get it to happen. My doctor told me to keep trying since I was youngand later told me it would take a lot longer than average due to irreg menses. I was given some medicine to regulate my menstrual but still ...sadly nothing. When my mom started nagging, I finally paid Dr Yu a visit. I didn't have great anticipation but just to appease my mother. But what I experienced was unexpected. Sure there are things not to love - the location, the crowds (omg, she is a busy lady), but Dr. Yu was thorough and sincere , took the time to go through my results and even took the time to get my old results and called me back one evening out of the blue to discuss them. At the end, I ask myself what is important in taking care of my health - and of course decided an honest and high quality doctor matters the most out of trivial front office matters. Together we decided on a plan. fast forward 2 mos later, with one try with the prescription she gave me, ta -dah, I am pregnant!! I am now 8.5 mos along and expecting my first child soon!! Dr. Yu is the best OB-GYN out there... for me at least. I saw Dr. Yu for general women's wellness stuff for a year or two before getting pregnant. As a non-pregnant patient, I noticed that appointment wait times were pretty lengthy so I was nervous since you have so many appointments when pregnant. But once I got pregnant, seeing Dr. Yu was a breeze. She has Saturday appointments which is AWESOME when you need to see her a LOT. Dr. Yu is a quick-talking no-nonsense but still incredibly warm person. I can see why some people would not connect with her emotionally but I loved her. She listened to all my worries, provided me with detailed answers, and always made me feel safe. During my labor, we experienced some complications and after 19 hours ended up with an emergency C-section. I never once felt worried in Dr. Yu's capable hands. She delivered my daughter like a pro. The best thing about her is that she actually CALLS her patients on the weekends or evenings to follow-up. Sad news is that my insurance has changed (she only accepts PPO or open access) and I can no longer afford to see her. read more

The reception definitely has an attitude problem. It's a already a discomfort visit to see a gyno, I don't deserve to take attitude from the reception too. As for the doctor, she has NO patient at all! She makes you wait in the room for 30min then only spend a few minutes with you. When you want to ask her questions, her facial expression started to change and criticize you on why you spend time reading article from the internet but instead should simply take her words. She talks quick, really quick and she always give you sense of rush. She even tell me in my face that she has other patients in other rooms waiting for her and she can't stay in the room for my questions. I think as a patient, I have the right to understand what she is performing, what is the side effects, what is the reason of it and even how is it being covered by insurance, etc. All she cares about is money! The more patient she sees, the more money she will make, so she doesn't want to spend too much time with you. I definitely DO NOT recommend this doctor to anyone. Where should I start?... Dr. Yu took care of me during my two pregnancies. I was a bit hesitated at the beginning because of the outdated equipments I saw at the office. However, Dr. Yu turned out to be the most caring and loving doctor I have met. The wait could be long but that's because Dr. takes her time to care for her patients. It might seem like she rushes during appointment but she just speaks fast. She will answer ANY and ALL the question you might have; she explained before giving treatments or sending me to testings. She is not one of those doctors who do not remember who you are as soon as you step out of the door. She used to remember exactly what we chatted about at the past appointments. My husband felt really comfortable having Dr. Yu take care of me and my sons at delivery. Of course, she worries about getting paid or not from the insurance companies. who does not like to be paid for the work they've done?! her staff asked for a deposit for a procedure Dr. Yu did for my son. Then I got refund when my insurance paid. Dr. Yu was straight forward and honest. She explained why she asked for deposit and we understood.
