Nexplanon Implant
Jaylin T.

I am a recently new patient with Dr. Hong, a first good sign is that her office is always busy! When you step into her office it looks a little dated, but come to realize that it is constantly busy with patients and her staff are working hard continuously! I went to get my Nexplanon Implant (birth control) removed & replaced in the same visit and she was very knowledgeable and fast! The office also ordered my implant within two weeks! Which was quick! This is my third time getting it and she was quicker than the doctors at Kaiser to remove it and replace it! She is very experienced and even though she works fast she is thorough! This office also except military insurance, TRICARE! I would recommend this doctor to everybody!

OFFICE: -The office is located in what seems like a relatively new building. (Some of the other suites were still empty.) It's not old and dingy like some other offices I've been in. -The lobby area is spacious with plenty of seats. -The exam room was nice and tidy. A curtain separates the exam room and the actual door of the exam room so that it provides extra privacy and prevents accidental walk ins. FRONT DESK: The lady that took my call for my initial appointment was helpful. On the day of my appointment, the lady that worked the front desk was friendly as well. One thing I noticed (and like!) about this office is that there is diversity (Asian, Hispanic, African-American employees and patients). To see such diversity all in one place is rather rare here in SGV. Definitely refreshing :) WAIT TIME: The wait time was about 20 minutes. Not too bad considering the fact that I had to fill out paperwork. When I was brought into the exam room I would say I only had to wait about 5-10min before I saw the doctor. DOCTOR: Dr Hong was very polite. She was very informative. When she was in the exam room with me, she did not seem like she was in a rush to get me out of there. She answered all my questions. The exam went smoothly. I think I may have found my new doctor! YAY! CASH/CHECK ONLY

From the very first appointment, it was clear she was extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, thorough, and a wonderfully genuine person. The biggest thing my husband and I noticed off the bat was how she took the time to listen and provide creative and effective solutions to whatever particular symptom I was having. I felt empowered each trimester with the tools and education we were provided with during our appointments. We never felt rushed and always felt that we were in the best care possible. She gained our trust very quickly and being first-time parents, meant the world to us! Towards the end of my pregnancy, my blood pressure began to climb into the gestational hypertension range and it became clear that we would need to induce early. This was at the peak of the Omicron wave and despite the hospital being SUPER busy and understaffed, Dr. Barnes made sure we got in as quickly as possible. We created a plan together and felt like we were walking into my induction and delivery as a team. As fate would have it, I ended up developing pre-eclampsia. We felt so relieved that we had made the choice to deliver early. Her guidance made our situation a best-case scenario. In the hospital and during my postpartum recovery, she was consistently checking in, communicating with us, and providing me with the best possible solutions. She had our back every step of the way. My husband and I are SO grateful we found Dr. Barnes! We cannot rave about her enough and are pretty sure many of our friends will be heading her way in the coming years haha If you're looking for a doctor who is deeply passionate about her work and goes above and beyond for her patients, look no further. We cannot recommend her enough!

She listens to your concerns, is extremely knowledgeable and has amazing bedside manner. Let's face it, no one jumps for joy over the idea of getting a pap - and some of us have had downright traumatic experiences in the past - but with Dr. Chang you can rest assured that it will be a breeze! It was over before I even knew it and it didn't even feel the least bit uncomfortable. She will also perform an ultrasound to ensure that your ovaries and uterus are structurally sound and there's no underlying issues which is a nice touch, especially since you don't need to schedule another visit solely for this as it's done in office by Dr.Chang herself! I'm so glad to have found her - a good OBGYN that makes you feel safe and comfortable is so hard to find these days but Dr. Chang is proof that they still exist!

My family and I feel very grateful to have Dr. Chiang as my OB-GYN. When I was in the hospital, he came to check on me almost every day. He has a lot of experience, very strict but also very friendly, and if you follow his instructions carefully, you'll be fine. I also had a little trouble during my pregnancy and had to call his hotline at 5 a.m. Both times, the doctor answered quickly and gave advice right away. The staff are nice too. They do their jobs well and were very patient when working with our private health insurance. I am generally very shy and get nervous easily in many situations, but I had a great experience with the doctor and his staff. Being pregnant is not easy, but they made it better. He didn't show out his rudeness until it is too late for us to change the doctor! Don't go to him, he is going to ruin your pregnancy and delivery. He was very emotional and can't control his own emotion at all. I am not sure if he had bad experience with some other patients before, but this could not be the reason for him to be rude! He lost temper easily and yelled at the patient for no reason. He is also seeing too many patients at the same time, each time is in a rush, you don't feel that you were cared at all! Very bad experience with him! I regret having him as my ob, it has brought a lot of trouble and painful memories to me.

We raised these concerns during her prenatal care, but Dr. Rose attributed the changes to my wife's diet. At eight months pregnant, my wife's blood pressure suddenly skyrocketed. We went to the ER, where we were told she had preeclampsia and that our baby needed to be delivered that same day. Our son was born a month early by C-section. Thankfully, he is healthy and growing strong. Looking back, I strongly believe the warning signs should have been taken more seriously and investigated further rather than being attributed to diet. The experience left me feeling that my wife and son were put at unnecessary risk. Another major concern with this practice is the lack of continuity of care. My wife was not consistently seen by the same doctor throughout her pregnancy, which made the care feel fragmented and, in our experience, contributed to concerns being overlooked or not followed up on appropriately. This was one of the most frightening experiences our family has ever gone through. I would encourage any expecting mother experiencing sudden swelling, rapid weight gain, high blood pressure, or other concerning changes to advocate strongly for herself and seek immediate medical attention if she feels something is wrong.

Unfortunately, I have had some frustrating experiences with the front office. There have been times when I waited around 15 minutes or more without anyone coming out to answer the phone. I also experienced an appointment being changed without anyone asking me first. I was simply told that the appointment had been changed, even though the original appointment had been scheduled for over three weeks. When you are already dealing with a sensitive situation, this can be very stressful. I also had an opportunity to speak with Nancy regarding what happened. I explained the timeline of events and went through what happened and when. After I finished explaining everything, there was an extended pause, and the only response I received was, "Yes, April can call you." I left the conversation feeling like my concerns had not really been heard or addressed. I do want to recognize April for trying to be helpful and assist with the situation. I appreciate that she has made an effort to help. My biggest concern is the communication and how the situation was handled. I had an appointment scheduled, and weeks later I was still having to scramble to establish care and figure out what was happening. I feel that a simple misunderstanding could have been handled with better communication and understanding from the beginning. I am sharing this because I think patients should be aware of my experience. People are often coming to a medical office during stressful and vulnerable times, and clear communication, patience, and understanding can make a big difference. I hope the office takes this feedback seriously and works toward improving the patient experience.

She's extremely nice, never rushes you, and doesn't push you into a decision that you're not comfortable with. Also, she did a wonderful job with the incision (I had to get a c-section, although I was planning for a vaginal delivery; Dr Chang was very supportive along the way even though the vaginal delivery route didn't work out for me in the end) After the birth of my daughter, all the nurses who check on me at the hospital commented on how nice my incision line was. He…read moreperformed an extraperitoneal C-section, and I was especially impressed with his surgical skills. During my hospital stay, he came by several times to check on my recovery, which I truly appreciated. Dr. Foong also performed my newborn son's circumcision using the Mogen clamp technique, a method rooted in traditional Jewish circumcision that is known for being quick and requires considerable skill and experience. Dr. Foong learned this technique in Beverly Hills and brought that expertise from the Westside to the San Gabriel Valley. My baby cried very loudly during the procedure--I could hear him from outside the room--but the procedure itself was very quick. Once home, he was comfortable and only fussed a little during diaper changes when the area was touched. His recovery was much easier than I expected. One thing to know: Dr. Foong is extremely busy. The wait can be long, while appointments themselves are often quite quick and may feel rushed. He is very straightforward, doesn't spend much time on small talk, and tells you exactly what he thinks and gets straight to the point. This style may not be for everyone, but I came to appreciate it. For me, his surgical skill and experience mattered most. I would highly recommend Dr. Foong, especially to patients who value an experienced, skilled, and straightforward OB-GYN.

I was in the very early stage of pregnancy when I first went to see him. Since I did not know my…read morecycle well, he told me I seemed to be about 2 to 3 weeks pregnant. From what I understood, at that stage it is usually too early to see anything through an abdominal ultrasound, and a cervical ultrasound would normally be needed. However, he examined me through my stomach and even said he could see a tiny dot that was supposed to be the gestational sac. I felt suspicious, but because he was the doctor and it was my first pregnancy, I let it go. I had a short flight planned for a vacation, so I specifically asked him whether it was safe for me to travel, and he said it was fine. During the trip, I started having severe bleeding. I was in another state, panicking, and could not just walk into his office. I called him and the nurse, since they had my chart and should have known my situation and how far along I was. I even checked the office hours before calling to make sure they were still open. The only answer I got was, "The office is closed. Call back on Monday." It was Saturday, and according to their posted hours, the office was supposed to still be open. I was not expecting anyone to magically stop the bleeding over the phone. I simply wanted basic guidance about whether this was an emergency and what I should do next. I was terrified and almost fainted from panic. Eventually, I went to a nearby urgent care, where I found out it was a chemical pregnancy and that I had miscarried. I was furious at how both the doctor and the nurses handled everything. I still cannot understand how a doctor could respond to a desperate patient like that. What made it even worse was what happened afterward. When I called later to cancel my next appointment because of the miscarriage, I was hoping for at least a little compassion, maybe something like, "I'm sorry to hear that. Please take care." Instead, the nurse simply said, "You want to cancel? Okay, bye." Please do not go here. This place is the worst. I still do not understand how he has such high reviews. My experience was horrible.
