This station offers numerous amenities. Here are a few: 1. Beach Passes: You can purchase beach passes here on weekends only. Much as changed on the beach; money is no longer accepted to buy $15 day pass. L.I.R.R. stopped offering Beach Getaway passes. You can download Yodel app that accepts Mastercard or Visa for payment. Or.. you can buy them here. 2. There is a taxi service conveniently located outside station. 3. Eating: There are a wealth of restaurants near the station. A few faves are ROC and Olive, Cha Ba, Brands deli ( great eggs) and Corazon de Cuba. The Starbucks here is one of their top locations IMO. 4. Beach Access: The station is @8 minute walk to the beach. There are numerous access points. I enter beach via Edwards Boulevard. This entrance is near Rip Tide cafe if you want to eat on the beach. 5. Transportation: There are numerous NICE buses that can take you around Long Island, especially if you want to go to the Roosevelt Field mall. Public transportation is highly recommended because finding a parking spot is difficult. 7. Lodging: There are numerous hotels to stay within walking distance. There are Air BNBs you can also rent but do it before summer season starts. 8. Shopping: East and West Park Avenue have some nice shops. 9. Waiting Area: you can purchase L.I.R.R. tickets here. There are restrooms, a small snack bar but no live agent to speak to. 10. JFK airport: it's @20 minute ride from Long Beach to JFK Airtrain which is very convenient and less expensive than taxi. It's within walking distance of a very nice beach, isn't a pedestrian nightmare to get to or from and definitely nicer than many of the LIRR stations. I wasn't here very long but it's easy enough to find the train you need and you won't find yourself in a suburban wasteland with nobody to be found, at least if you're traveling here on a Sunday during the summer on a sunny day. read more

I didnt use the full capacity of the facilities so I cannot comment on the restrooms or on the service provided by the train station staff. Truth be told everything was marked and the flow of information so readily available that I didnt need ask any questions. The ride from Penn station seems like a breeze. All screens and electric signs were functional and notified us with useful information well prior to boarding time. About 6 station staff members were on the platform for each departing/arriving train. If only Penn station could function this efficiently! There are plenty of cabs and taxis right at the station trying to Drive crowds to the beach but, unless you are traveling with small children, skip them and get a view of the town instead. There are no beers--or really anything-- for sale at the actual station. If you'd like to have a bite or sip on the train ride make sure to stop at the Walbaums at the plaza next to the station beforehand. It was a nice touch that for arriving trains the station has crossing guards set up to ensure the safety of en masse street crossing. read more

One of the nicer LIRR platforms out there for a few reasons: * No escalators (that are always broken) * Trains are usually waiting on the track 10 min early * As Lauren S said, take a nap! It's the last stop, so you won't wake up in Ronkonkoma * Station house with bathroom (!) * 2 automated machines * Plenty of taxi's waiting * Lot's of food and drink around if you're waiting The only knock would be that it takes FOREVER to get to Penn. 50-55min. Stops 10-13 times. But, being the first crew on the train, you'll have a seat :) read more

What can you say about the LIRR .... Really?! They are too expensive, the tracks always have problems, the signals always have problems, the trains always have problems and even though the trains are running late they are always reported as "close or on schedule" NEVER ACCURATE! But the train staff is friendly and kind as well as the station house crew even though the station house isn't open very long/ not convenient for the customers one bit! It closes by 2p?!? The train service itself is great, but the station needs major improvement. Bathroom is always a mess and many times unusable. Also major bike theft, even if the bike is locked up - the lock will get cut. There was police presence for a short period of time but that has since stopped. You would think a beach town would care more about the commuters (especially the bikers) but it seems to go unnoticed. As a resident, it is very disappointing and gives LIRR as well as the town a bad taste. read more

The station, its pretty much clean, there's a coffee spot in case you forget yours in the AM and bagels- $5 min on your credit card or bank card, which is kind of annoying because a bagel and coffee are not $5. There are like four tracks and theres usually only 1 or 2 trains there at a time. Train to Penn sucks its usually over an hour, but there's a shuttle to and from the station if you're a local so that's convenient. Shuttle is 2.25 one way or $30 on your LIRR pass. If there were an EXPRESS LONG BEACH train Lb to Jamaica to Penn I would even pay extra for it! The overall vibe of LB LIRR Station is a little sketchy, but the police station is across the street and there's always workers around the area. NOW MY TWO STARS: I have damn near had enough of the woman who punches the tickets on the 7:23a to Penn station. Without fully bashing this woman let me just say, she is extremely unpleasant! Borderline very rude. To get on a train with a woman who never says good morning, have a nice day or even a THANK YOU! A woman who rolls her eyes at people. Ive even watched others riders give her the wtf face. She's been getting more and more rude as the months pass, i though at some point she was having a bad day, but clearly she is miserable with her job. Maybe she should get some customer service training OR work a later shift as she's obviously not a nice person in the morning. Also, please note: There is a gentleman who stands outside the train in the morning, I believe he is the conductor ? He is so kind and inviting he says good morning to everyone! read more

I've been going out to LB from Penn Station for years. This train has never been late for me, ever. Its clean, and quiet on weeknights. It gets a little rowdy during the weekends in the summer, but it gets you to the beach and back in a timely manner. There's a train every hour to Penn, and always stopping at Jamaica for of us who don't live in the concrete jungle. The station itself is small with a few benches and a snack counter. The bathrooms are either disgusting or locked, but its a train station bathroom and to be expected. read more

No complaints. There's always parking (you do have to pay for parking, about 5$ for a full weekday). Easy to get to platforms. Can use your phone for tickets as with all LIRR stations. Always have cabs waiting. Starbucks and Dunkin' nearby. read more

It is most certainly a better train station then most. You know exactly what platform to goto when you walk up. Th me bathrooms are filthy as you would figure they would. One huge plus the taxi stand almost always has cars waiting so the wait is usually not that long and he taxi is cheap. read more

Maybe I'm byast because I come here every day, but I like this train station. And I've been to my fair share of train stations, cause I hate to drive. the ladies room smells like that gross disinfectent they use - but at least they clean it. The inside is nice and clean, and the little man that runs the coffee shop is just the cutest thing ever. There's a parking garage, bike racks, and the bus terminal is right next to the station (1.50 for the long beach bus in either direction, during rush hour the buses wait for you - and there are MTA buses if you want to go to where ever the hell those things take you), taxis are all over. HINT: if you take the taxi on a semi-regular basis, or if you live in Long Beach and sometimes wind up taking a taxi (like I do if I've been boozing, or i'm home too late for the bus, or forgot my car somewhere), they have commuter passes you can buy. Taxis are usually 5.50 wherever you go in Long Beach, but the commuter ones are 3.75. Whatever, not a huge savings, but money is money, bitches. And, if you get a ride from Jerry, he's so funny. Right across you have a 5 Guys, pizza place, ice cream place, various restaurants and a starbucks. I do warn you, its like, on the border of the hood in long beach, so if you make a left and go down by where RiteAid is, you better be ready to see some crackheads. Just go straight, and you'll see the beach. Straight, not left. Straight, not left. Luckily, the LBPD is right next to the train station, so those little fellas are always milling about. The train moves slow as hell across the bridge during rush hour - but take a pill, look out the window and anticipate your lovely weekend planned in MY town. read more

What happened to the police presence that was there for a week. They made a big show of it with a big photo-op then nothing. I was buying my ticket yesterday and a junkie asked me for money. Just gross. Come on along Beach we can do better right? read more

I don't know if there's a lot to say about a small station like this one. I only come here on weekends when trains depart to the city every hour. The men's restroom is a bit nasty as you can expect at a train station and every time I've been here there's some kids mom banging on the men's restroom door yelling at her kids to hurry up and finish peeing already!!! Because the train is leaving without us if you don't hurry up!!! You guys wanna walk back to Queens or what!!! read more
