Called for a cab to the train station. An UNMARKED Mercedes SUV showed up in front of my building, honking for 10 minutes outside. Two people are in the car; they clearly see me sitting in my lobby, but as I am expecting a car with some kind of identification telling me it is Beech St taxi, I didn't know that that was my ride. They never come to the door to ask if I am their pickup. I finally go outside and open the rear door to enter; the front passenger side has the seat reclined all the way back so I can barely get in, and the car REEKS of weed. They start screaming at me when I question why they are in an unmarked vehicle, and then the racial slurs start. Needless to say, I got out and called a different company. I see now they have terrible reviews, and erratic driver and service complaints. Called to complain and got screamed at again. Never again. read more

I have used this car service before without any issues so i tried again . I ordered a car for an airport drop off. I always ask the prices before so there are no surprises. I was told the service will be $66 ( including the $3) toll. Since the cc machine was not working in the car my driver called It in I then verified $66 yes? i was told Yes. well landed from my flight and checked it was68.64$ ( i know not a lot ) i called the office and was told there is cc service charge. I also mentioned that the toll when using the local card is actually $1.50 each way not $3. well i was also told that i was supposed to pay for the toll both ways$6 for the driver. Ordered a cab from Shines to Das Biergarten for a group of five. The trip is .08 miles away. They charged us $34 and we had to wait 15 minutes for the cab. In order to simplify ordering a taxi to the airport i wrote down on a piece of paper all my details including name, address, time of pick up , destination , phone number etc. And instead of phoning in the reservation I went to the office. The woman on duty was sitting at her desk about 10 feet in from a barrier. She finished her phone call and I said that I needed to reserve a taxi to the airport and would prepay. She began to ask the details and I held up the paper and said its all on here. She indicated she would continue to ask me questions and I reiterated that I had everything on the note pad. She said that she didnt want to get up and get it from me so I said I could walk to her desk and hand it to her. At that point she said no and said she would continue to get the details from me by asking questions. At that point I told her she was being ridiculous and I would go elsewhere which I did and the gentleman there thanked me for the paper. I have used this taxi company in the past because they are the lesser of two taxi companies in Long Beach and I thought it would be good to help them out. I know this all sounds petty and stupid but thats the last time I will use this taxi company. And a few years back I had a similar situation with a woman there over the phone and wrote it off to her having a bad day, which we all do from time to time. Better than any uber i have ever used! Uber was picking me up from beginnings and cancelled, then came out again and charged me full price even though i had already left. It took 45 minutes on the phone to get them to finally reverse the charges. I learned the hard way that staying local is most certainly the way to go. Tonight we had one of the most shockingly inappropriate experiences while using Beech St. Taxi. Upon getting into our cab the driver, named Victor, told my fiancée and her friends that they smelled like "ill nani." When asked what he meant by ill nani he proceeded to describe the smell of bad fish. He then changed the term and started using the word "Punani." Upon approaching our destination Victor started to pitch us on some gum he was selling on the side. We got out of the cab ASAP and decided to not leave a tip because we were so offended and disturbed by Victor. He proceeded to tell us we should treat him like we would a bartender and give him a tip. I cannot ever remember a bartender telling a woman she smells like a dirty vagina and expect a tip!!! At Beech St Taxi, this rude guy told me my address wasn't real, and didn't call me a taxi. I had to walk home. Never going back again.

I had a terrible experience with them yesterday. Was told I had a 10-15 minute wait going to Island Park Animal Hospital. After 25 minutes, called back and told I had an additional 15 minute wait due to people at the train station "jumping into cars." Meanwhile, 5 minutes later a Beech Stteet car came down my street with a driver who knows me. He called to see if he could take me. DISPACHER SAID NO, ANOTHER CAR COMING FOR ME. I called back 10 minu8tes later, was told my car wnas 1 minute away. I waited another 2minutes . NO CAE EVER SHOWED UP. Had to cancel my dr. appointment. All this standing in the rain for a full hour. Absolutely outrageous. If I can make a formal complaint, I will. read more

Beech Street Taxi has 2 stars for good reason. Our driver was great but the dispatcher is a real piece of work. On 4th of July, we got in the taxi as the dispatcher called our driver to tell him to pick up another person that was coming from the opposite direction (since the Loop parkway was closed, this would take quite some time) When we called to say this was unacceptable; he hung up the phone on us. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I called them tonight to get a cab to go a mile away. They said the cab would be there in 2 minutes. I waited 20 minutes. I politely called again and they said they sent someone over so I continued to wait. I stared out my window for 45 minutes for a 2 minute ETA, so they said. Finally, I called again and the woman on the line said "walk to our stand because I can't keep sending cabs to you" and then hung up on me. I gave them 15 min on a NOT busy Sunday night, and I mentioned I was going to the train. I was told it would be 2 minutes. Approximately 7 min went by and I called back, to be told that it was on its way. A few more minutes went by, and I finally got the car, with only a couple minutes to spare (the train station is less than a 5 min drive away, mind you) The driver was very nice and extremely apologetic, saying that the dispatcher should not have told me I would make me train if they knew I wouldn't. Of course, I didn't make my train (meaning another hour wait), and all the dispatcher could do was berate me and tell me how I should have called them sooner. The driver told me I didn't need to pay him, but I did, because all I can hope is that the money will go to him and not the company. Long story short, it didn't, and by the time they reached the station the train was closing its doors, and the driver told my 50-year old girlfriend to "get out and run." With luggage. And a cat. Operating policy here between the two cab companies in town is that if they can't get you to the train on time, they'll drive you to Island Park, the next stop. Not this time. I use a cab 2-3 times a week and go out of my way to support Beech Street because they're the smaller of the two and -- especially in the off season when the day trippers go home -- they depend on local business to stay afloat. It's sad to say this, but if there's a lesson, it's to go with the company that does what they say they're going to do, not the one you're more emotionally attached to. Maybe next time they'll do better, but the next time I'm calling Long Beach Taxi. read more

This is a response to the derogatory reviews that I read about Beech Street Taxi Svc. My experience w/ Beech street was the opposite. Lets start with following Sandy. LB taxi raised there prices that to me was uncalled for!!!! At the time they needed the help the most. I felt they took advantage of the people here. I found LB drivers to be rude and their cars to be filthy. During the our recent snow storms..LB taxi closed down...where Beech taxi were available and their drivers were courteous and not mention patient . The cars were clean and did not smell of smoke unlike LB taxi. The driver even waited for me @ CVS while I shopped and filled my prescription. And guess what....no extra charge. I am pleased and trilled to have another taxi service here in Long Beach. This for me gives me the option who to choose.......Chris read more
