14 years after the fact, and I am back at liquor lounge this last weekend with a good friend to ideally try to catch the rest of the Miami Dolphins win. Her and I post up at the bar near the end of the 4th quarter and that's when the "questionable" calls start against our Phins. To our surprise, most of the bar crowd including the manger start cheering agianst our fish. So yes, this is NOT a Miami Dolphins bar! My friend and I drowned the results of the game in a couple of rounds of her Pinot Grigio (I sipped and found it classically dry) and my tart but well blended mojito. The mixology was great as it had a nice amount of mint. It was almost enough to overlook the fact that the Cheatriots (with the help of the officials, and yes some of our own play calling) caused the Dolphins to lose. The space itself is pretty big. We didn't try anything from the food menu since her and I were going elsewhere. Also, there's a sign for 9pm karaoke which may be worth checking out. read more

This looks like a beachy local bar. The street view calls your attention. We stopped by to catch the ending of the Dolphin game. The spot has a huge TV screen that of course was playing the Dolphin game. It had several tables and a bar. The bar had like 6-8 tv"s - 2 of them were playing the Miami game . The other TV had other games/sports going on. We decided to sit at the bar since we just wanted to catch the end of the game and get a drink. ( game stress ended up with 2 drinks each) Of course I had my Pinot Grigio wine and friend had a Mojito which was well made. The pricing was average I guess for the beach. For 2 drinks it was $31.00 so I guess $15 a drink. They do offer food but we didn't take a look at the food menu since we had other plans. I saw other guest having bucket of beers so maybe they had a special going on with beers. Funny the place had ballon's cheering on the Miami's team colors but it appeared all the local guest including the owner or manager were cheering against our home team. So that felt a little awkward! ( especially as a Miami fan) They have nightly karaoke so that's cool. I also heard them saying they are open till 5am!!! Miami night life! So I would say this is a beach local stop! read more

Do yourself a favor and walk right past this place. I only stopped in because of their Happy Hour sign advertising $10 cocktails, and I deeply regret it. Ordered a 'Sex on the Beach' and got what I can only describe as a glass full of ice with maybe two sips of actual drink at the top. I'm not exaggerating - the straw could barely reach any liquid. It's the oldest trick in the book and they're not even subtle about it. Then comes the bill: the cocktail rang up at $10.35, which fine, whatever. But they automatically added 20% gratuity, bringing my total to about $14 for essentially a cup of ice cubes. No warning, no mention, just slapped on there. The audacity to charge an automatic tip for this kind of service is wild. This is clearly a spot banking on tourists who won't notice or won't complain. South Beach has so many better bars - literally pick any other one. This place is an absolute rip-off and the worst bar experience I've had in Miami. read more

The bartenders were very friendly, but I had a terrible experience with security at this bar. A guy was harassing me and my friends. He was clearly very drunk and making lewd comments about all of my friends--he even grabbed one of them by the face. I spoke to him and told him to calm down and stop the behavior, but he just kept asking why I cared. He then followed me into the bathroom, and at that point I'd had enough. I told security that this guy was acting up and harassing us. The security guard sat the guy down--but then turned around and kicked me and my friends out instead. The one and only "karaoke spot" in South Beach, where the so-called "DJ" seems to double as janitor and part-time handyman, while doing karaoke "duties" like it's a court sentence. Someone dares to ask, "No karaoke tonight?"--and the bartender echoes the question, only to get Mr. Dishwasher himself snapping back with all the charm of a clogged drain: "We have to wait until more people come." Oh really? Maybe that's why no one shows up during the week. Honestly, they should just rip out the sad little podium he hides behind when he's not busy cleaning the bathroom. I left money on the bar after ordering and went to the bathroom and bartender actually stole some of my money? I didn't want to be accusatory so I ordered another beer and said to take it out of my money on the bar, she grabbed everything, like $19 (beers were $6). I was in Miami Beach and wanted a drink to be able to cool off a bit. I decided to stop at Liquor Lounge for a quick sip. The guy behind the counter took my order and I opted for a Miami Vice. He carded me, which is understandable in Utah but ironically was the one and only time I was carded in the Sunshine State. The drink was honestly pretty bland, it tasted more like ice than it did like rum/strawberry/pineapple/coconut. With how hot it was, it was still a nice treat to sip on and the place was nicely air conditioned. My total was almost $20; it was like $17 something, which was definitely a bit crazy for a single drink, even if it does have alcohol in it but I digress...it was still a great way to cool down. I have one word to describe this place. Petty. I joined my friends who had been drinking enough for multiple people already. This guy walked around with a QR code telling people to tip the karaoke person. He looked at my phone and said, "You have a phone don't you?" He forced me to scan the QR code. This was after my friends had already tipped enough for the table. This was before I sang or got a drink or even decided if I was going to stay. I scanned then cleared my screen. I'm a very good tipper but I will not be bullied into it when no service was provided. Then when I tried to put in a song to sing the person tells me only people who order a drink can sing. My friends had already been drinking for an hour before I arrived and they had just tipped the karaoke person AGAIN. I personally don't drink but I would've been fine ordering a water or something if I was enjoying the place and wanted to stay. But after being forced to tip for no service, forced to order a drink before even enjoying the place I decided this place was a hell no for me. This would be like if Mila forced you to buy a drink before you could watch their fire show and be seated at your table. Oh and also tip your server before the service was provided lol On top of it they were trying to charge $15+ for cocktails. It should've been $10 max there. We came here for some cocktails and walk in and what seemed to be a very miserable employee came over and I saw remnants of food (including lettuce) on the bar and asked him to just clean the bar and it seemed to be a bit of a problem for him and he felt compelled to tell us he wipes everything down but it was clear the bar was totally dirty. The phone rings and he stays on the phone for what seems like an eternity knowing we're standing waiting and he knew it. Finally, at the end of his cordless telephone call he comes over to clean the filthy bar. He knew what he was doing. I go to the restroom which was disgusting. No napkins to dry my hands which we told him and he didn't care. The floor in the restaurant has NEVER been cleaned ever. Meanwhile he just sits there. He was one of the worst experiences I've experienced. Clearly he hates his job. He's miserable. Guess that's what happens when you get a tip automatically. They INSTANTLY told us no. Instead of even trying to take our order, they TRIED US.... We had a "we love liquor bag." And that's automatically where the judgement came. Having a military background where lots of traveling is required, I take yelp very seriously and will always be upfront and honest with all of my opinions. In an effort to hit up all the local spots surrounding our hotel, we came to the Liquor Lounge to sip Mojitos at Happy Hour prices. This fun little sports bar is conveniently located on the main strip and played Baseball, Football and Soccer games. We were very thirsty after a long day at the pool and ordered the Mango Mojitos which were sweet and tasty. I think I forgot they had alcohol in them, because I forgot how many I had. Maybe 2. ;) We ordered the chicken nachos and chicken wings, but I only had the nachos. I think I could be the only person on the face of this earth who doesn't really like wings. I've said it before: I appreciate things that are aptly named. It eliminates confusion. We wanted some booze, and unless I missed my guess, a place called Liquor Lounge almost certainly sold booze. While it might not be the most creative name around, it conveys the necessary message, especially to potential customers who aren't the sharpest crayons in the box. Liquor Lounge turned out to be an average sports bar. Nothing to set it apart, but still a good place to hang out for a couple hours; the kind of place that is as fun as you make it. The majority of my companions ordered fruity frozen drinks (which were surprisingly tasty, but still not my bag) and posted up on the outdoor tables. I got myself a Newcastle, and was perfectly content to play a few games of pool and watch SportsCenter on the nearby TVs. At least until my British friend reported that in London they refer to Newcastle as "Brown Poo Water." I love the nut brown ale, but it didn't taste as delicious after that. read more

This bar is located on the corner of 16th and Collins in a rather distinctive looking storefront, as the entrance and outside seating area for this place is rounded off, just like the sidewalk in front. It's usually not too crowded, they have a few screens for watching sports or other programming, plenty of seating both inside and out on the sidewalk in front and decent music, either courtesy of a live DJ or during the day, Pandora. On my most recent visit, 2 of us stopped here on a Saturday at around 5 p.m. We were on our way back from the beach to our car, both had to pee, this place had a sign out front saying that the restrooms were for patrons only, so we decided to belly up to the bar, grab a beer and use the facilities. Pints of Bud Light were $5, Shock Top were $7 each, with auto gratuity included in the final bill. The bartender was friendly and quick. read more

This was the closest place to my hotel, and I was hungry. Hungry enough in fact that I chose to eat here, even knowing that the name 'Liquor Lounge' would end up on my expense report, and I'd no doubt have to explain it. So, like many spots in southern Florida, this place allows smoking. Yik. Still, there is plenty of air moving through the place, as the windows all open up to the street. I tried one of the burgers, and my only complaint was that I ordered it rare, and it came out darn near mid-well. Still, the flavor was really pretty good, so no need to send it back. I arrived early to South Beach for the Wine & Food Festival event I'd be attending, and so I thought I'd try a couple dive bars before the chi-chi event. LL was the closest to the event, and I was drawn into this dive by the sandwich board outside proclaiming "2 Long Island Iced Teas, $20" Well, ok that sounds reasonable. The bartender was very detached and seemed like she didn't want to be there. This is probably because she got an 18% auto-gratuity. She brought the drinks, then retreated out from the bar and commenced to talking on her phone. We noticed, there were no straws for the drinks. I'm not sure what the Miami Beach Straw Ordinance entails, but I think they can be provided on demand. My wife hunted down the bartender to request straws. With an eye roll, she grudgingly provided one swizzle stick with a diameter of, like, one micrometer! Also, the LIT's themselves were extremely watered down... Ugh! I'm giving one star up only because of the outside patio facing Collins, which provided a prime platform for people watching. If you do go, I'd probably just stick with beer and hang out on the front patio. read more

If your looking for a nice bar with a better than normal liquor selection, this is the place to be. They gave a limited food selection. Small and friendly. As a rum drinker I was able to find new rums to taste. There not much to say in that it is not fancy, had some good tunes playing and the view was good of the Miami beach crowd. Nice place to just get out of the tourist crowd and taste a new liquor. Use Uber to get around the area. Parking at s premium and expensive if you find it. read more

I used to come here frequently as it is across the street from my office. You couldn't beat the cheap beer and the dive-y vibe! The day after Christmas, our network at work went down and it was pouring, so we all decided to just bail and go drink. Due to the weather, we hit up Liquor Lounge and wow! It had a total makeover! It went from dive bar to actual, real lounge! Clubby, comfortable chairs, fabric on the wall, dim lighting! Fortunately, the drinks are still cheap as hell! I think the beers were $3 or something ridiculous. And well drinks were $4, maybe? The one thing that didn't get upgraded is that stale beer smell! read more

I have been using Yelp for 14 years and this is the first review I have ever left. Please do not ever go to this establishment. I truly have never met a more dishonest and rip-off place. And I have been to more than 100 countries in the world. First, I ordered the "queso and chips" which stated on the menu "homemade cheese sauce". After I tasted it and it was horrible, the server admitted it comes out of a can. Yet she stated I still had to pay for it because I ate some of the chips. Seriously ??? I also asked for a cup of water with my beer. She stated "when there are football games on, we can only sell you bottled water. No "free" cups or glasses of water. Really? It was a 50 cent small bottle of Zephrhills that I was charged $4 for. I asked the server why they don't offer tap water for no charge but only $4 for cheap small plastic and he response was "all of South Beach does this". I have been coming to SoBe for 25 years once a month. Sorry, this is not the case. Please please go anywhere else. Lost Weekend is two blocks away. And many other places.
