I ordered the wing & shrimp platter with double collards. I know the collards were canned soon as i looked but they was bomb & the shrimp & wings were good as well! Upon arrival at the restaurant I was greeted by a great hostess. She was very hospitable and I enjoyed her vibe. She showed me the menu and I told her that I wanted to do hookah as well so she said I can order my food here and go upstairs and wait for the hookah. She took my order and sent me along my way up the stairs and waited for a good 20 minutes so that the hookah girl could come upstairs and take my order. The young lady took my hookah order and that took another 30 minutes for it to come. My food order came and I was highly disappointed $22 for six wings some mushy cabbage the yams were okay. Ordered for the second time via door dash. I think this will be my last time. I ordered wedges but they sent fries. The fries were cold because the door washer completed another order before it reached me. The fries tasted good but you would think you would get more for $4. Also I ordered some tinting different, a dessert. It was documented as a brownie. When I got the dessert it was a few brownie pieces in chocolate pudding. Coming from a city like Miami, and visiting Richmond for the first time I didn't know what to expect with late night options to eat. My niece suggested Liquid Cafe. Everyone who knows me knows I really like nice places, so all she kept saying was I promise this will be the best fried chicken you've had in your life. Okay, the ambiance is nothing to write about especially since we sat upstairs, but if you like to smoke hookah while enjoying your meal they have that to offer. I start every business at 3 stars and they were down to 2 stars, the waitress was really sweet, back up to 3 stars. It took 45 minutes to get our food, back down to 2 stars , one of us got the wrong order, down to 1 star, and then it happen. I tasted the chicken and shrimp, and I just looked at my niece and said "This is freaking delicious" it was like an explosion of fried chicken flavor in my mouth. Back up to 4 stars. I took them back up to 4 stars, because they advertise themselves for the amazing flavor of their food, not the ambiance or being quick, and they didn't lie, their food is amazing. My suggestion is call in your order, get it to go, or come with friends ready to sit a while and laugh while you wait for the most amazing Fried Chicken you've ever had. Went here Yesterday for the second time & it was pretty cool. The last time i went i believe it was like a Tuesday night and it was JUMPIN, my friends and I couldn't find anywhere to sit and ended up goin to Bellos Lounge up the street. But we tried again yesterday around 7 there wasnt a DJ and whoever was on the music was trying to Megan the Stallion us to death but they changed it and started playin some bangers. Our waitress was nice I cant remember her name but she helped us with everything & got our hookah started. I ordered the Bologna Sandwich w/ grilled onions & cheese and wedges that thing was SLAMMIN (way better than I expected) I would definitely go again at a time where it isn't crowded. Its very small inside and can become overwhelming if you go during peak hours. This place was a normal routine for my friends and I but not anymore. Last night, (March 24,2017) My boyfriend and I stopped by this spot after the Migos Concert in hopes to get good food and vibes but our waitress (female with a big blonde curly wig) allowed us to order our food without disclosing the details of the order. The "late night menu" does not disclose a price increase after twelve so this girl tried to lie her way into making us pay more for our food. Basically trying to take advantage of us. When he appeared to be upset, she didn't even apologize and was dismissive. She said he was a "whole man" and that she was "good off him." She probably does this a lot so in my opinion she's bad for your business and needs to be fired. If you have to manipulate people to get money (4 more dollars) you have deeper issues and need professional help. THIS IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH BLACK BUSINESSES. Customer Service should be your top concern and should be taken very seriously because without customers you have no business. Do better. read more

WORST PLACE TO EXPERIENCE RVA NIGHT LIFE I will NEVER BE RETURNING!!!!!! & if I could give negative stars I would!!!!! I went for the trap and paint night on Thursday Jan28 . -Firstly, the waitress (the only white girl working there) was drunk and didn't talk with her mask on so we could smell her breath reeked of alcohol! -We ordered 5 strawberry margaritas and she came back 20 minutes later with 4 regular margaritas and 1 strawberry margarita (IT WAS NOT BUSY WE WERE THE FIRST TO ARRIVE) -she tells us she will just bring the strawberry mix to our table -after 30 MINUTES of waiting with WATERED DOWN margaritas I had to go downstairs to the bar only to find her laughing around with the staff...... while the the strawberry mix is readily waiting behind her - you can't start a tab there so they charge your card every time you want to order something -when she charged $39 ($25 for sip and paint plus $14 for 2 margaritas) to my card she initiated an 18% "service charge" and said it "helps the staff keep running" which brought me to $50 dollars and then she ASKED FOR A TIP. Not to mention she did NOT charge my friends %18 -they only had 2 black markers for everyone to share.... and did not care to disinfect the markers after each use GROSS - the waitress told my friend we are to keep all the materials they provided for us - when it was time for me to go I packed my paintbrushes and easel to go and she snatches them from me saying we can only keep the canvas... WHAT DID I PAY $25 for??????? NOT TO MENTION MY FRIEND LEFT EARLY WITH THE EASEL AND REST OF THE SUPPLIES -The DJ left before the event was even over so it was silent for a while! -The restaurant is SMALL so they cram 50 people into 1 SPACE -The food is salty and OVERPRICED -customer service absolutely terrible - the bathrooms are absolutely grimey and smelled worst then anything!!! read more

A nice quiet dining experience for lunch. I ordered the crab cake sandwich with a side salad. It was very good and just enough to satisfy my hunger. The restaurant is nice and clean making the eating experience even better! Would recommend to others looking for a unique local spot to dine. A little hard to locate as the title blends into the window but don't give up...it's there and it's open waiting to serve you. I did not get to try the homemade cupcakes as they were sold out, but hopefully next time as I have a serious sweet tooth and love to try sweet treats at new spots. read more

This place is hard to find but located in Shockoe Bottom. We found this restaurant through restaurant.com so we weren't sure what to expect. There was only 1 waitress for a fairly packed restaurant. We think there may have been an upstairs but the waitress didn't get a chance to tell us about it. Since the place was so busy we asked to order our food to go and they were happy to obliged. We had to spend $50 to use our $25 coupon so we ordered the chicken wings, 2 fish sandwiches, liquid burger, shrimp platter (which included 2 sided I choose mozzarella sticks and house salad) The food was good except the shrimp was a little salty. And as of right as you could imagine I have yet to finish all of this food. But I wanted to write this review before I forgot. Very very poor service. She got our bill mixed up with another person and couldn't fix it. They ran out of corona after only having one a piece. Rice was not good. Very slow service. Only plus was that I used a groupon and because no one knew how to put a refund on my card because of the mix up with the other customer plus she didn't take the $20 bucks off the final tab, after talking to her manager over the phone, she was able to give me $20 in cash. So I ordered to go and I got the crab cake sandwich, the crab and shrimp quesadilla and the Whiting fish dinner. First lets start off with what they did right, the crab cake sandwich was a good size and was all meat no filler, the Whiting was seasoned well, and the quesadilla had plenty of cheese and shrimp. But I will have to admit this will probably be my last time ordering from them. The bread from the sandwich was so hard I ended up just eating the crab meat with a fork, I also had three different sides the mac n cheese, the cabbage, and the yams. The mac and cheese was literally some of the worst I've ever tasted, the noodles were over cooked and there was only about a sprinkle of actual cheese in it, the yams were just pieces of sweet potato with cinnamon dumped on top and the cabbage was cooked with an unidentified component. The mac n cheese remained in the to go container, the quesadilla and Whiting and crab meat were the only things that were really edible. I would love to have been able to continue to support but unfortunately I can't justify spending $60 bucks on food that was low key nasty. read more

Don't waste your time or money. The food is gross and the service is even worse. The server totally screwed up our bill and told us we would have to come back tomorrow to get it fixed. When we told her that was unacceptable, she called someone for help. Apparently they couldn't fix it either. Instead of voiding the transaction on the credit card and charging us correctly, she handed us cash.....but that still didn't completely correct her mistakes.
