They hold a special place in my heart after helping me celebrate a solo birthday shortly after relocating to the city! Good people y'all! They told me about a new floral mimosa tower and of course we had to try it. It was made with beautiful fresh flowers; orchids maybe? Ten out of ten. The aesthetics? Ten out of ten. The inside is beautiful, wasn't greeted for a while, I sat at the bar for 5mins before anyone came out. There were 2 bartenders. The woman was having a bad day and everything was bothering her. My bartender was jay he was fun and cool and I enjoyed his company. My drinks were good and strong if I go back I will stop at 2 drinks. My food was good I really enjoyed it. I've had plenty of Jamaican curry chicken and they never have any heat. Well Bellos curry chicken does and it smells fresh, you can smell the green and orange peppers. It's a quality meal and the taste is superb. Next is the oxtails which, I've never had. Never had a desire to even try it but Bellos oxtail dish looked so good I had to try it. However, I just recently I stopped in on a Friday. Ooooooh I danced and I danced. I met fun people laughed and drank. We had a blast. But then I woke up to three additional tabs charged to my credit card .... It was clearly a bar staff member who performed the charges for her friends drinks.... (I offered to buy her a drink, she offered herself the MOST expensive drink ever made, and I said she was out of her mind..) So I guess the charges was revenge, for denying her luxurious choice ... that is just NOT acceptable. I spent 90 bucks, my card said I spent $216. And I tipped well. This place could be a unique cultural gem for the entire greater area. I pray the general manager cleans house in all staff, keeps the best teammates and finds the chinks in his armor. #RVA is now a national foodie town. Had a late dinner on a Saturday night upstairs. They were very accommodating to our large group although the service was a bit slow and a little weird like having our plastic silverware/not enough silverware for the whole table, no napkins, etc. The food was really good though. We shared all the appetizers. Favorites were the crab cakes, the coconut shrimp, and the calamari. For an entree I had the salad with jerk chicken and it was yummy. The dressing was a little strange but otherwise it was good. Other got the peri peri chicken and it's almost a whole chicken with rice and salad. The rice has some kick. The salmon was delicious too. I ordered wings and fries and I won't order them again!! They were so salty like over the top salty. I used the ranch to dilute the excess salt and that ain't help. The ambiance was really nice and the customer service was awesome. I did order drinks and they serve them in plastic cups. There's no cover charge to get into the lounge. The music was pretty good and the crowd was decent. I will Maybe go during the day to retry the food because maybe it was a diff chef. If you like Hookah you'll enjoy this spot. read more

Bellos lounge is the hidden Afro beats lounge that I have been looking for. Great atmosphere and the owners are very nice. My husband and I went to bellos lounge after a nice walk in the downtown area for date night. I was surprised that I heard Afro beats playing and to my surprise my experience at Bellos lounge was a pleasant one. The food is amazing! They do serve a variety of west African cuisine. My husband and I enjoyed the jollof rice! Very spicy and very good. They also have a great selection of drinks. The building is not very large and the seating is limited. My friends and I were in town from NY for a couple days for a conference and I saw Bello's was On the list of places that I wanted to try out while we were there. After trying out Bellos on the first night we were hooked and never strayed elsewhere to try anything else out. The staff were very welcoming/friendly and the owner so sweet. If the food doesn't get you the drinks will. The food was a tasty reminder of home and drinks understood the assignment. I went to this club to celebrate my 21ST birthday yesterday with one of my friends and I am new to this city. This place was recommended by a few people so I decided to give it a try. When I showed up I asked if we could order hookah and if we could sit anywhere just to make sure I wasn't in anybody's area. I sat down and order my drink and waited on the hookah. The drink took about 10 minutes and the hookah took about 30-35 minutes to get to us. While we were waiting for the hookah a man sat in a corner beside us. We finally realized that he had a party n pushing us gentle out of the way after an hour. We had no other places to sit and anybody that has tried hookah knows it takes about an hour or 2 for it to even be done with it. After an hour in a half of sitting n drinking, the people in the area asked us to move tables and one of the servers came n finally put reserved in front of us to get up. Honestly, the reason why I'm writing this is b/c I felt very embarrassed. I tried to not to ruin my night so Ofcrouse I relocated, but by that time I was already irritated b/c I asked before if any place was taken n one of the servers said no plus no signs were present to indicate it was a taken area. If it was taken once the man checked in for the party someone should've informed the PAYING customers in your club. I was planning on staying n ordering another drink as well and to tip since it was my big day but the Customer service was very bad, hookah and drinks were good, but I'll probably not recommend this place.
