It's not a five-star business... yet! But with as friendly and enthusiastic the fledgling shop owners are (and their keen grasp of social media), I'm certain they're off to a great start! It's their first week of operation. When I heard about it, I had to stop in because I'm a big tabletop gamer and all-around nerd. You'll find them just past Barton Middle School if you're heading south, sandwiches between a few other shops. The shop is small at the moment, consisting of two rooms of merchandise. One has a lot of in-the-box model sets like fighter planes, vintage automobiles, and the like, along with paints/primers/etc. needed for assembling them. The front room has a lot of fun board game titles such as Pandemic and SmallWorld, even classics like Cribbage and Dominos. They've just begun stocking Dungeons & Dragons stuff-- I couldn't resist... I bought another set of dice and some cool miniatures! Danielle and Rudy are vibrant and excited, willing to answer any questions, listen to feedback, or even just have a friendly chit-chat. The Hobby store for all your board/card gaming and model needs! The staff are delightful and extremely knowledgeable about the games and models they sell. There is a large variety of board games and models, and quite a few card games. They've done a great job maximizing the space they have and I hope they're able to some day move into a larger space! Would be great to have room to sit down and play games inside the shop. Would definitely recommend stopping buy and checking them out! read more

Coming from the San Francisco Bay Area, hobby stores have gone the way of the Dodo Bird. It is a treat to find actual brick and mortar stores to browse. I came upon LIONHEART two days ago, and went back yesterday. Contemplating going again today, since I fly back tomorrow. Unbelievable selection of paints, tools, materials, and of course, model kits. It's hard to find hobby shops as well stocked and welcoming as LionHeart. I live in the DFW area and any time I'm near the Austin area I make the drive over to LionHeart. During covid I took up my childhood hobby of scale modeling. Rudy was a huge help at his prior store. When I found out he and his partner opened Lionheart I immediately got on the phone and have already have ordered parts (service was excellent of course ) and been to the store. I was searching the web for a somewhat obscure scale modeling item, and LionHeart Hobby (who I'd never heard of) was the only USA retailer I could find claiming to have it in stock. Sometimes that just means the retailer's website isn't up to date, but I decided to try my luck and place the order. I very promptly received a message that my order had shipped, and a few days later it arrived in my mail nicely packaged. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again. We love supporting our community and this place has such a community feel! We were on the hunt for some games for our not-quite-yet-reading kiddos. I was surprised to find SO MANY options that fit the bill. We got a couple of card games, Spot It, Clackit, and a few snap-together model cars for the boys to do with their Pop on vacation over Thanksgiving. We also put a few items on our future wish list (Christmas). The biggest hit so far? Pokemon cards! And a huge die apparently for Magic the Gathering, but large enough that our 1 year old can't possibly choke on it. The kids loved it and I can't wait to play all the games! read more
