It's a really nice sized independent store that carries a great selection. The books are laid out in pleasant ways and you really enjoy browsing the shelves and exploring! They also have a really nice sized Children's Book Section and host Storytimes here as well. If you are a book lover, this place is worth a trip to Austin to check out, you will not be disappointed!

It is not super big but it makes great use of the space it has tons of pre loved books, stickers, various gifts, oracle and Tarot cards, witches candles and so much more. They do mystery sells and bundles where you get a vague description of a book that is covered up and you take a chance. It should go without saying but as you are supporting local businesses the prices are a little higher the HPB or Amazon but it means more here and you should buy local when you can. I will start with the "downsides" (as few as they are). This place is pretty small. Like smaller than I thought. Because of this, its not the greatest place for browsing. They had some "witch" stuff which was interesting, but I was looking for a book. Also, most of the books are used which isn't terrible, but not exactly clear. As for the positives, this place is a true small business so you really get the personal touch when it comes to service. I also picked this place because it did a "blind book" service where they will pick out a book or two for you based on your description. A bunch of bookstores do this, but the Book Burrow understood the assignment exactly. They got me THREE books and all of them were PERFECT. I was surprised how they found my vibe and found me unique books! They also wrapped it in a beautiful paper and addressed it to me! It was like a little birthday gift to myself! As you can tell, I was very floored by the selections. This is the small business of small businesses so I am so HAPPY that I was able to stop by! While the place is small and their selection is in flux, I really appreciated the personal touch from the staff at The Book Burrow.

I took my littles there today to spend some of their Christmas money. The moment we walked in we were greeted by the owner and her daughter; they asked what kind of books we were looking for, what we liked to read, and helped guide us to find some books. We picked up 5, all of which I was unfamiliar with prior to visiting. We read 4 of them at bedtime and my boys loved all of the selections! The bookshop also has a little kid sitting area, some GIGANTIC bean bags, and a little play corner where my youngest immediately started to play in the play kitchen. Please go check this place out- it's so rare to have a local children's bookstore these days!

It is super convenient for me to pop in especially since there are other big box stores (Sam's), a local barbecue spot next door (Moreno's Barbecue), and even the movie theater (Cinemark) I usually frequent. The selection here is robust and they have a ton of options for everyone including vinyl records, cassettes, VHS, DVDs, paperback and hard back books, a nice long clearance section, and like others have mentioned - nice spots to plop down and hang out/sit for a minute. I come here often to check and browse the vinyl selection. They have a nice set of records that rotate in and out each week. They even have a collectibles box/bin the record area for you to look at that include some super rare records. Their selection ranges from used/previously owned to brand new albums. I have seen some classic rock albums that are reasonably priced. In terms of selling your books or media, I have only been here one time to do so and I came during the week. I had no issues with the offer they gave me as it was fair and the wait for the offer was not long at all! I wasn't even done browsing the store before they had an offer ready for me. Each room has its own type of books, along with original artwork, so it feels fun just wandering from room to room. There are plenty of places to sit inside, plus outdoor seating on both floors. If you head upstairs, you'll find a great view of downtown while you sip a glass of wine and flip through your newest book. The staff really know their books and their wine, and I love that you can walk around the store with your glass in hand while you browse. My only suggestion would be to add a small collection of vintage magazines. I'd probably never leave.

The owner conveyed this a woman owned and woman led bookstore. She also said some of their key bookstore tenets was inclusion, intersectionality, and authenticity. A total of 5 authors shared their thoughts on becoming authors, challenges and opportunities. The authors discussed different genres of books - children books, sci-fi, romance, poems and biographies. One author shared some thought-provoking messages: "You don't what you think until you see what you say. Words were currency and powerful." She also said her mother never asked her how her day was but instead what questions did you ask in class. She indicated these questions provoked deeper conversations. This was a great event...

They have pretty much every bestseller; they do sell some new books too which tend to cost about as much as they would at any commercial bookstore but obvs buying a used copy can save you a bit. They do buy books and media materials but know you won't get much (around 50% of the book's selling price assuming it's in excellent condition seems to be the pattern I've noticed). The staff are always really helpful and knowledgeable. They have plenty of parking too. Will mention I have noticed the location on N Lamar tends to have more books in general (it's bigger!) but as a South Austin native I'm glad to have a location down here.
