Great first experience at this woman/LGBTQ+ owned independent bookstore! They're currently residing in a wine bar called Three Legged Goat. I'm usually reluctant to try the blind date with a book selections, as I don't want to end up with a book I already own/have read or a mainstream popular pick. But after perusing their shelves of mostly unique picks I knew this was The Place to finally try blind date with a book and I happily got one I haven't read and didn't own yet! They have a large selection of locally made stickers of all kinds of topics for $1-3. They also offer a section with "bargain books" that are only $5! Some of the sections that they currently have are various YA and younger children books, new fiction, sci-fi/fantasy, romance, booktok picks, nonfiction, political, graphic novels, true crime, identity/personal empowerment, mystery/thriller, and classics that I can remember so lots of topics covered! There is merch like shirts, tea towels, games, cards, writing utensils, coasters, candles, and much more. Yes, the prices are going to be more than getting a book on Amazon, but you're supporting your community and someone's dream! I'll happily pay more to be able to have an inclusive space to purchase books near me. Can't wait to go back soon!

Independent bookstore, with some amazing stickers and pins. It can't get any better than that.

It's tiny, but packs a lot of punch. Serious Austin vibes somehow made their way out to Pflugerville.

But unfortunately they had a very small selection of magazines and nothing that would fit what I was looking for anyway. I was also looking for a Stephan king movie that I heard about. And unfortunately I was out of luck with that too. I was helped by a nice gentleman that worked at the sell counter. And he offered to order the movie for me from another store, I think he said San Antonio, but I said, it wasn't necessary. The store was very neat and organized. Prices were fair for gentle used books.

So for my most recent visit here, I don't know if we just happened to come at a particularly slow time, but they priced a big box of books we brought in super fast. So if you're selling and are low on time maybe try this Half Price Books location? They had a few carts outside which helped us bring the box in so that's a plus. It is a nice spot with plenty of selection. It's all well kept as well. There's plenty of parking and everything is nice. I managed to snag a birthday gift for my hubs here on a visit, I managed to find a hardback book he had been looking for in pretty solid condition.

The decor in this store is fabulous! Books galore (obviously good for a book store). I want a room in my home to look like the Painted Porch! It's cozy and full of possibilities. We didn't purchase anything so I can't speak to service, but the books were normally priced for a bookstore that sells new books. Overall, a great store with a good selection!

The couple who reads voraciously, has exceptional taste, thinks critically about what they consume, and can explain exactly why each book matters. After years of friends asking for recommendations, they finally thought: why not open the collection to everyone? So they found a space, bought dozens of copies of their favorite books, and created something extraordinary. That's the Painted Porch. It's a jewel to anyone who reads. A gift to anyone who considers themselves a lifelong learner. The staff embodies this same spirit. Corey, Kim, and Peyton are all lovely souls and are an absolute pleasure to interact with. Kim's book recommendations alone are a testament to what happens when people genuinely love where they work and who they work with. Thank you, Ryan. And most especially, thank you, Sam.
