This Barnes & Nobles is the closest one to me and one of my favorites. The staff are pretty friendly and very helpful and if you come in as much as I do, they'll know you by name and recommend books according to your taste. There's a great variety of books that I haven't seen at the location in the Arboritum- They even have a copy of the elusive book The GOD Game by Danny Tobey! The cafe area isn't the cleanest, even during slow periods, but the baristas are really good and friendly. read more

Well, I'm back at Barnes & Noble today looking for gifts when I don't know what I want to buy. I found a gift for everybody! I got Starbucks coffee beans for one person, I got somebody else a book, somebody else another book, I bought a toy, I bought some stocking stuffers, an atlas, a box of Xmas cards!. I bought some gourmet chocolate! The assortment of items at this store is amazing. There is definitely something for everyone here. They have a Starbucks inside with tables. The employees here are wonderful and helpful and kind. I bought a book that they are sending to incarcerated women so that they can read them on video and it can be sent to their child. That is so very kind. Being in this store makes me feel happy. I love the way it feels, I love the way it smells. I could stay here all day! read more

Mainly wanting to review the Starbucks here. I have been to this location before and truthfully the employees have never been as nice as most other Starbucks. Today was a whole different level though. We came around lunch time, ordered a quiche and a croissant. The quiche was served burnt. They didn't ask our name, so when they called out a croissant and we walked up to get it, another customer grabbed it instead. We had already been waiting for a while. I don't know if she was there before us or not, but since we had been waiting a while I got back in line to ask about our croissant thinking maybe they forgot it or maybe that lady took ours thinking it was hers no big deal, but when I asked they said that was the last one, and they have to make more, okay how long until those are ready? They replied it would be over 15 minutes, we had already been there for at least 15 minutes and needed to get a move on so I said, okay no problem, but we can't really wait that long, so they said we could pick something else, but my daughter didn't really want anything else so I asked can we please just have a refund? When I asked for a refund they acted like I had committed a huge faux pas, "I'm going to have to ask for a manager," she said, with big wide eyes, then she backed off and started whispering to a coworker, they acted like it would be an enormous inconvenience to give a refund and it got really awkward, which made me feel super weird so I said never mind, we will just take a different item, so we got it and left. All this could be avoided if they simply asked for names for the orders like most Starbucks do, and if it's a huge deal to give a refund, maybe keep better track of inventory so when they sell out of an item they can let people know it will be a long wait to receive it before they take payment for it. I wasn't being rude or demanding or raising my voice, I don't think it was appropriate to act like I'm the problem for asking for a refund for an item I paid for but didn't receive. read more

It's a Barnes & Noble, like any other. Same layout, same product offerings. The first time we walked here from the hotel, we didn't realize they had cut their hours back to closing at 530pm and came too late. The second time we went earlier. My mom found a book and purchased it; the cashier was friendly and gregarious, striking up a conversation with us during checkout. I appreciated the hand sanitizer front and center upon entering the establishment to encourage customers to sanitize prior to shopping, since book buying is a highly-tactile experience. read more

A pretty good Barnes and Noble location. My mother used to bring us here for children's storytime when we were still pretty young and still learning to read. Now, of course, I'm far to old to participate in storytimes, as evidenced by this Yelp review. Thankfully, this location has a myriad of selections for geezers of my age, a ripe old seventeen. Manager was extremely rude tonight. On three different occasions the woman came up to my partner and I and harassed us. It was 30 minutes before closing when we walked in the store, and she informed us that they were closing soon & to make our shopping trip quick. Next she came up to us at the register while we were feeling through Lego collectible minifigures, and was very rude to us. She then came up to us a second time at the counter and told us we were not allowed to feel through the bags, after another employee said it was just fine, and she had already approached us doing it the first time. Not to mention Lego employees themselves allow this practice of "feeling through" Lego collectable figures. All in all, she made our trip tonight to the store very unenjoyable. She was extremely hostile and made us feel unwelcome during clear hours the store was open an operating. She was so rude! I believe the woman's name was Sandra. Definitely watch out for this lady, don't let her push you around. read more

We love just coming here to relax. I like to buy a book and sit at Starbucks and read while my nieces and nephews demolish the store. Lol. No they take hours just looking at books. They get it from their auntie. The store is always clean and staff friendly. I wish they had a bigger language section. Not posting about the B&N, but the Starbucks. It's bad y'all. We placed an order, I went to the restroom, my husband called me quickly to ask what it was bc they forgot. No big deal. Then. They took a long time to make a fresh black coffee, also fine. When I got my drink it was a completely different beverage than the one we ordered, and then reordered. His coffee was not good. Also the strawberry birthday cake was def old. I have been here a few times and the service always leaves more to be desired. Everyone seems miserable. Sucks to pay $15 for two coffees and a stale old cake. Sad to say, we won't be back. read more

I called about trading cards, they said they would be unpacked that afternoon. I ask if they had an eta so I could know when to be there, they said they wouldn't provide that because they didn't know when they would be unpacking everything. No worries. The afternoon comes, I arrive, the person at the front tells me they don't have any of the cards I seek. "I called earlier, are they still not unboxed or did someone buy them?" They tell me the person who said they were not yet unboxed, shouldn't have told me that? Idk, it got weird. I smile, quietly acknowledging I am not frustrated with this person, but the fact that I'm not getting my cards and that's okay. I ask if they would know when they would be unboxed, and they had no clue. Fast-forward, next afternoon. I ask about the cards over the phone, they told me either somebody had bought them already or that the cards were never shipped to them in the first place. The bookstore that won't order a book. In an attempt to keep Amazon from shutting down every local bookstore, I went to B&N Round Rock to order a newish release. It's not a best seller, but shouldn't be an unknown based on these Amazon rankings: #688 in Books #1 in Public Health Administration #5 in Children's Health (Books) Not expecting it to be stocked I went to the help desk to place an order. The youngster at the desk said it was not available to order. I left surprised. After thinking further, I returned the next day and spoke with a more seasoned person. She had the same answer "not available for order", and I was shocked by her attitude that the book somehow wasn't fit to be handled by B&N and her guess that it probably was a vanity press book. Needless to say we had a very unpleasant conversation about her prospects for finding a new job when her book store goes out of business because it refuses to order books requested by their customers. read more

This is our local bookstore here in Round Rock and it's not too bad. I've been to a lot of Barnes and Nobles and while it's not the best it is also not the worst. This location has a nice selection of magazines and books, it does seem to be a bigger store than the one in Cedar Park. There is a cafe with a coffee shop and like all B&N locations it serves Starbucks Coffee but is not a Starbucks so your SB gift cards will not work here. There is a lot of seating in the cafe but there are only a couple power outlets. All of the baristas at the cafe are pretty friendly and the cookies here are really good. Make sure to buy a magazine, book or something from the cafe. The store needs to make money somehow and I've noticed a lot of free loaders come to B&N in general. Same thing with Borders which unfortunately is no longer around. read more

I get a certain sense of nostalgia walking into this place. It's hard to beat the feeling of hanging around a book store for a while. Good selection here and staff is helpful. This is a nice B&N in Round Rock. Easy to find, plenty of parking. I usually only go here if I'm already in the area, or if my usual B&N doesn't have something and this one does. It does feel a bit cramped. I do wish the building was bigger. I love bookstores, and would probably come to this location more frequently if they had more medical books (nursing). Things are a bit jumbled and hard to find. That makes it less appealing when I have to search and can't find anyone who is willing to help. Also.. there's no big comfy chairs. I want big comfy chairs! Sometimes I just want to grab a book that I am going to buy and start reading it right there, before I take it home. This B&N doesn't make you feel like that is appropriate. read more

Never a dull moment for me or my family when we come here... We started coming here as a "cheap date night" to see what books are on the shelf, have some coffee, and just spend time together; B&N never fails. Now I enjoy taking the kids here to discover new and old books.. and it seems we always walk out with more than we need. I appreciate that they carry a good variety of British Photo magazines... they are MUCH BETTER than the U.S. magazines. Over all, the service is always great, the book signings are fun (when they are there) and the staff is always helpful. read more

It's great to have a B&N up in Round Rock. I'm still a big supporter of bookstores because it's always great to browse and find new authors. This is a good sized store with a staff that's always been friendly to me. I listen to soundtracks and I like that they are one of the stores that still has a separate sections for CD genres instead of lumping them all in together. read more

Great place to relax, read a book, sip some good coffee and to make great businesses too! I absolutely like their concept, and this specific B&N has great employees, they are helpful when you have questions and the staff at the coffee shop really know what they are doing. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because the area for kids books seems to be smaller than other B&Ns I've visited, yes I have kids and they were the ones who noticed this...other than that, the place is great, I actually don't mind paying a few more bucks to buy a book here instead of Amazon.com. read more

This past Sunday afternoon I stopped by Barnes and Noble to buy some Nursing books. I asked the guy at the counter (mid-store area) if he could find a book for me and he looked at me like I was a huge bother. I didnt understand why because he helped the person in front of me with no issues. Hmm. oh well. He starts looking and the book I was looking for had a number in it. He asked if the number was spelled out, I said no the title has it numerical and he threw my sticky note back at me and said no we dont have it. I was shocked into silence he threw it at me with such disdain and I guess he noticed this and took it back and said well is it a text ? I said yes (figuring he meant is it a hard copy book, not audio, not kindle etc. and he THREW IT BACK AT ME AGAIN and said "oh we dont sell textbooks for school". Odd. since you sell every text book I was required to buy for school (nursing). So i finally just took that as God telling me to spend my hard earned dollars with Amazon instead of Barnes and Noble. . . I took my sticky note back and told him I would do so. So if you see a brown haired guy with disdain on his face, try looking for someone else to help you possibly or find it yourself. I've worked in customer service for 15 years and that's something I could never have done. It's just rude, especially since I hadn't been ugly to him?? Hope they learn the Borders lesson and take better care of the customers they have. I was about to spend a few hundred dollars . . till I spoke to that guy with a horrible attitude. They don't always have what I'm looking for, but they are more than happy to order it for you...which seems a bit pointless, since you can go online and order it yourself. I love books. Not Kindles. Real books. Barnes and Noble is pretty good, even though I usually never pay full price for books. I enjoy the variety of specialty books they have here, especially in the art books section. Need to know how to make Origami? Chain maille? Or how to knit clothing out of your cat's shed fur? Yep, actual titles they have here. Also, the discount racks in the middle of the store provide some random ideas for your brain to ponder. "Famous Axe Murderers of the North". (Who writes this stuff?) Friends and I get a cup o' joe sometimes at the Cafe while shopping. Good times. Once in while I splurge and pay full price for a title I can't pass up. read more

My bf & I LOVE B&N. It always has just the right ambiance to enlighten our curiosity and empty our wallets! I especially love sitting at starbucks with soup and chai latte. Its so peaceful, I always write in my journal here and talk about life. Definitely worth it to be club member. read more

This Barnes and Noble is a nice community hub. There are always a lot of people here. They have a huge children's section. The adult sections are adequate. They even have a few bookcases of only manga and another couple of bookcases for books in Spanish. The cashiers are friendly. The location is excellent--right next to SH45 near the I-35 intersection in La Frontera shopping center. The parking lot is huge and it's much easier to find a parking space here than in the Arboretum Barnes and Noble. I come here too often and took off a star because there are not enough places among the bookshelves to sit. The Starbucks inside has tons of seating, though--but I feel strange sitting around the coffeeshop when I haven't bought any coffee. read more

When I went to check out the gentleman behind the counter asked if I'd like to donate $1 towards a book for the children's book drive they are doing this year. He gave me my total and something seemed off, however I paid since I did also get a few books, thought they were just expensive. When I got to my car I looked at my receipt and realized he rang me up for $10!!! Now, I don't mind donating or anything but what I don't like is being lied to about it. The worst part is I can't go back and ask to return my donation. Very very irritated I was mislead. Hope the employee didn't pocket the remaining $9. read more

Let me start off by saying I have a membership here and spend a lot of money on books for my family. Today I went in to return two orders that were sent to me on accident as my friend purchased three sets instead of one. The delivery slip says for return bring to your local store. When I went in the lady at the register said she needed her manager. I told the manager I wanted these returned and the money to go back on my friends card, the one who purchased and shipped the gifts to me. The manager was very disrespectful and I could not understand why she needed to first off say why we didn't ship it back ourselves, but then didn't believe my friend sent three orders to me on accident. Clearly the three orders are the same books ordered on the same day. Accident or not a return is a return period. Long story short this is the reason people will shop on Amazon rather than being treated as such when making a return on unopened packages. read more

I have been to this store only once. I brought a bargain price book for my girl and was charged full price instead. I saw it on the receipt after i came home. It was mistake of the cashier. I stopped by at the store after couple of days, which is today morning to get the refund back on the xtra price charged. They did return me the remaining balance. But i had hoped for some off for inconvenience charged (maybe off on the book, which was just $6 ), but they gave me some $1 off on beverage.and when i said that this was not right for the bad customer service on the book, she asked if you want return the product. I said my daughter already removed some stickers. Then the cashier said we cant take that product. Are you kidding me? Obviously i know i cant return the product now that is used. but the point here was i had to drive 5 miles just for $4 overcharged to me, which was sheer inconvenience when I just moved to this state and am 5 month pregnant. I have lots more to do rather than sorting this. There was no apology, nothing given back for inconvenience caused and i was disappointed here with the customer service. read more

I worked at another Barnes for years, so after entering this one I have to say it's a good one. It's big enough that your not bumping into people. The cafe serves Starbucks ( it is not a Starbucks so you can't use your cards there, fyi) and has alot of space for sitting and reading with WIFI. The DVD's are in the back of the store which I have never seen before. The staff was helpful. I love that when searching for a book, they walk you to it and place it in your hand ( that is their policy). I normally check out half price books before buying new because it can be a bit costly to shop here. read more

If you plan on buying something whenever it is going to be released don't buy it from here. I tried to buy a cd that was released the day before and it even said on their website when it would be released and that they had it in their store. I asked the employee where it was located since I couldn't find it and they said it wouldn't be they would sell till it was released next week.
