I usually love fashion and sometimes art magazines and was looking forward to buying them to read poolside. . I thought their selection was sparse !! The café was very dark and when I ordered a double espresso the counter person made a face and acted like a robot !! The woman at the bookstore's register was cool tho !! We obsessed over Godiva chocolates together which I might be back for !!

Google maps show they open at 10 on Sunday but it's actually 11. Store is clean, employees are friendly and they have a good Manga collection, which my teenagers likes.

I went in here the other day because my boss every now and then likes to have our manager meetings outside of the office. This barnes and noble is close to work and she thought it would be a good place to hang out and have a meeting. Meeting was mid afternoon and when I walked in I headed over to the cafe. I immediately noticed that there was a lot of people. I was thinking ... not sure if this is going to work out well or not?... Anyway another co-worker and I did find 3 small tables and pushed them together and we set up shop. It actually was not as bad as I was expecting and I am sure we will do it again at some point. They have free internet here and I used it. I think due to the amount of other people on their devices other people were using the internet too as it was slow. Took me awhile to do anything. If I was actually working from here, I would not be able to do it because it is just too slow at that time of day. I did not realize that the cafe in barnes and noble is not actually a real starbucks - they just sell starbucks coffee. So if you have a starbucks giftcard they can not take it - FYI. I discovered this because another co-worker tried to use his giftcard. I ordered the chai tea latte. It tasted like pumpkin and was delicious! All in all the barnes and nobel was ok. I think they should make the cafe part bigger though.

I miss Borders. It felt cozy and the employees were so knowledgeable and helpful. This feels like a big box store.

Much easier to just slip over to 12th Street, do your shopping, and then reward yourself with a drink next door (as you should). Highly recommend for a relaxed, feel-good browse. Also, I've heard about their Pride Market in June ...definitely on my list to visit!

10 STARS ACROSS THE BOARD FOR THE LITTLE GAY SHOP!!!!…read more Anytime I'm traveling, I look for bookstores and libraries. Lucky me this time I paid a visit to The Little Gay Shop. As many times as I've been to Austin, this was my first visit here. We stopped in before getting on the road to head back to Houston. There's a large selection of apparel, socks, stickers, cards for many occasions, enamel pins, decor, art, and books. In my opinion they didn't have the largest selection of books but just enough. It's colorful, bright, and welcoming! Kirt was really friendly and provided us some history/details about the bookstore. We left with enamel pins, stickers, a card, and sweatshirts! The goods are highly worth the value (I mean it's books- duh) When I'm in Austin, I'll make a priority to stop by this bookstore. I looooooooved it! Oh the day we went there was a walk/run going on so streets were blocked and the general parking lot was not being used. All street parking was free and typically is. Their parking lot lies directly across from the bookstore. Enjoy! Check them out!

I don't fault Waterloo for that because they were asked to leave. The place is great and their collection is awesome just like the originally. I really think they just picked up their stock and moved it. It is in a great spot, they do great events with artists from in-store performances to listening parties, and I feel that they have so many great collections in genres that some record stores don't have like in electronic music and jazz. The genres represented at Waterloo are always eclectic and their stock is always pretty substantial. My wallet always hurts after visiting, but that's part of record collecting. RIYL: Record hunting

At first, I didn't want to bring it up, but the more I think about it the more annoyed I am, so I…read morereally hope the management/whoever was in charge of it sees and pays attention to the feedback. Last week, for 3/20, the store organized a listening party for BTS' new album "ARIRANG." The way it was presented on social media, it seemed like a fun event for the local ARMYs (fandom name) to attend and have fun together. This release is significant to us because it was the first comeback after a long hiatus. It was highly anticipated and people were genuinely stoked and excited. So when you see a local business organize an event, you want to be there and celebrate with people who share the love to this group. Calling it a listening party was an overstatement. You stand in line to register for a raffle. The girl who ran the raffle seemed like she didn't even want be there. She mentioned that people need to write names and last 4 digits of a phone number, which was odd (normally people ask for a full number or email) and she seemed irritated when I was confused about the last 4 digits. By the looks of it, it was under 100 people who were there specifically for the occasion (aside from just customers browsing), not a crazy crowd. So it shouldn't be that difficult to prepare for such a large business. Yet it felt not just underwhelming, but more like no effort was put into it at all. Most fan-organized events gather more people than that and they are in no way a well-known business with a budget and staff. The freebies ran out 10 minutes after stated start time, the CDs sold out even before that, no vinyl for this release was available, I was told they wouldn't get it. A raffle prize was a bootleg canvas print which the girl who ran the raffle announced as "official from the BTS label." Big Hit never released such item for this album merch lineup. Absoluetely nothing against fan-made merch, this community is super welcoming and encouraging to it. However, transparency matters. Overall, equally not a good look whether it was intentionally misrepresented as official item OR just ignorance about the matter. Nothing was done to create an exciting event and engage people who might have turned down other plans to attend this "listening party." Once dropped your name for the raffle, you just wait around and maybe flip through the records while the new album plays on the background (not even very loud). That's it. I can do that on any random Tuesday - come to the store and flip through records while listening to music on my headphones. If you don't know what to do but want to organize an event worth attending, connect with local fans! There's a whole community of enthusiasts in the city (and online) of people who regularly organize fan events locally and would be stoked to do this. It would've been less frustrating if Waterloo just ignored this release and did nothing. At the end of the day, kpop community wouldn't expect a business that doesn't specialize on kpop to participate in celebrating this new album. This "event" was a huge disappointment and a great example of what happens when non-enthusiasts try to capitalize on something they have no clue about.
