Receipt for 4 adults, in which 3 were seniors, refused senior discount, forced to pay full price

Unfortunately, my experience at this buffet was extremely disappointing, particularly when it came to customer service and the way my party and I were treated. My party and I are seniors, and when we asked about the senior discount, we were told that the staff could not refund the difference or apply the discount to our purchase. What was especially frustrating was that the staff could clearly see that we qualified as seniors, even though we had not initially identified ourselves as such. I understand that businesses have policies regarding discounts, but the way this situation was handled felt very unprofessional and lacked basic consideration for the customer. The manager on duty at approximately 1:00 PM was also the same manager we encountered approximately five or six weeks ago during a previous visit. During that visit, we felt uncomfortable because of what appeared to be excessive staring and attention directed toward us. On this occasion, we experienced similar behavior, which made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. At one point, while we were eating, the manager walked past our table with a broom and began sweeping nearby, creating dust in the dining area while customers were eating. I found this to be inappropriate and unsanitary, particularly while people were actively dining. The service from our waitress was also disappointing. Dirty plates were left on our table for an extended period, even after we had finished eating and returned to the buffet. Although she was attending to several other tables, we felt that our table was being overlooked. Most concerning, however, was our perception that there was a noticeable difference in how Black and white customers were being treated. I cannot speak to the intentions of the staff, but based on what we personally experienced and observed, we felt that we were treated differently. That left us feeling uncomfortable, disrespected, and unwelcome. A restaurant should make every customer feel respected, valued, and comfortable regardless of age or race. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. Based on the overall customer service, management, cleanliness, and treatment we received, I would rate this establishment -0 stars if that were an option. My family will seek another establishment to din at on Sunday's after church services as it is not an option to din here anymore I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously and investigates these concerns. Customers deserve to be treated with professionalism, dignity, and fairness every time they visit.

Nov, 2025. My husband really likes the variety of foods on buffets so, when we passed by Lin's Grand Buffet during a recent trip to Phoenix, I knew that we would be going there for lunch. (Looking on-line, Lin's Grand Buffet appears have multiple restaurants in the Phoenix area; we visited the location on E Baseline Rd). This is a gigantic buffet, both in terms of the quantity and variety of food. In addition to rows and rows of entrees, noodles/rice, soups, salads, desserts, etc., there's also a Mongolian BBQ station and a counter with sushi. There was even a tray with enchiladas! My husband and I agreed that Lin's had some of the best tasting Chinese buffet food that we've ever had. Plus, given the large number of patrons, the food was hot and trays were replenished regularly. I particularly liked the pork dumplings (with a hint of fresh ginger), pepper shrimp, and breaded and fried zucchini (just like mom used to make!). My husband's favorites were beef and broccoli, cream cheese rangoons, and apple pie topped with vanilla ice cream. Unfortunately, the Mongolian BBQ was a fail for me. I filled my plate with a great variety of vegetables (bean sprouts, zucchini, cabbage, peppers, onions, garlic, etc.), noodles, and some chicken and beef, and then turned it over to the chef at the grill. When I picked it up a few minutes later, my fresh stir-fry was close to black in color because the chef had added a huge amount of soya sauce during the grilling process. I've been to other Mongolian BBQ restaurants that allow you to add your own sauces to your bowl before giving it to the grill chef; that would've been preferable in this case. I don't believe in wasting food -- but the only way that I was able to eat this was by adding more noodles to lessen the per-bite overbearing salty taste. Service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive, even refilling our ice waters before we asked, and efficiently taking away used plates. The restaurant was tastefully decorated and clean. The parking was free and plentiful. The value of the lunch buffet is excellent -- $14.99/adult before taxes and tip. Seniors aged 62 and above also get a 10% discount.

Went to lunch at Lin's Grand Buffet South Mountain, a buffet chain with over 15 locations across Arizona, Texas, and California. It is known for its wide variety of food options, including a sushi bar, a Mongolian grill, and classic Chinese dishes. I really go to Chinese buffets for the seafood, and Lin's has a very nice selection and a great sushi station. I found everything to be super fresh and appealing. They also have a shrimp boil available, which I really enjoy, as well as many of the classic Chinese dishes most people look for. We usually go to the Metro Center location and the Baseline location is also very good.Lunch price is $14.99 with 10% off for seniors. Dinner is $17.99. Carryout is $8.29 per pound.

Although it looks like a cake, I don't really know what it is. Next is some shrimp or prawns & I don't know what the other two are

It was really amazing. Beautifully decorated very helpful where the staff. The salmon was out of this world. I also had some of the bake seafood casserole. That was very delicious. I had some of the mushrooms and the fried shrimp that was very good. one of the ladies got some kind of chicken or something and she said it was really spicy but she ate it. She said it tasted so good. We really enjoyed ourselves. The ice cream machine was broke. All you could get was chocolate that it was delicious. I also got a cream puff. I don't know if anyone else in the group got dessert.

Food was good like usual today, but the service was sorely lacking. Half way through my meal before I got my soda and never got a refill. Hoping this was a one off, not a new standard!

Me, I do not have a photo of this restaurant in my phone.

The food is great, service is quick, and ambiance is nice. I have only done takeout! Please search this restaurant and if ever near by know dining in or taking out, I personally like the food.

    So cool at night!

Only downside is that…read morefor some reason Apple maps was not accurate to finding the location and parking was a challenge as it is right on Roosevelt Row. However as soon as I found it and immediately after entering Pretty Penny I was transformed to the cutest little restaurant. I was greeted immediately and had made a reservation so even though my friend hadn't arrived yet, they sat me down. They instantly offered water and menus (food and cocktail). I noticed that the menu seemed very small and the dishes were shareable -- I don't eat meat so I was hoping my friend wouldn't mind sticking with fish and seafood (which she didn't). As soon as I got to my table there was the cutest sign that said welcome to Sarah Sherman and guest -- it was such an adorable and personal touch, I loved that! As soon as my friend got there we immediately both ordered the cold brew old fashioned -- we thought about the espresso martini but this just sounded too good to pass up -- and we were not disappointed! This drink was so tasty and strong. We immediately ordered the bread (sourdough boule) to soak up some of the alcohol as well as some oysters and the salsa. The oysters were so well spiced and were absolutely delicious. But the bread, the bread, the bread -- the server mentioned that it took almost 9 months to develop the bread recipe and it served. It was the best bread and butter that I think I have ever had! The salsa was good but probably was my least favorite of everything and it was still super yummy. We then moved on to the octopus tostadas. Sometimes octopus is not my fav -- it can be too chewy but this was so amazing and incredibly flavorful. It was starting to be my favorite dish until we ordered the Hamachi -- OMG!! Talk about a mouth orgasm-- both my friend and I were yummming it up -- but seriously this bite was so complex with different flavors coming up with every chew -- it has coriander candied peanuts, fermented pineapple, avocado, pickled fresno, toasted coconut and aji amarillo yogurt -- The server mentioned that this was the chef's least favorite dish which I totally do not understand because this was off the charts in my book. We also tried the earl gray whiskey sour, which was light and delicious, and ended with the shrimp toast and the espresso martini. By the way the toast on the shrimp toast was like a little fried dough triangle -- sooooo gooood! The martini was good but the cold brew old fashioned really stole the spotlight for me. Other details I loved that just elevated the experience: Purse hook (very important to me), the little trays for your utensils, metal coasters, incredibly attentive servers, fantastic music, great ambiance and the cutest was the penny they put on top of your check. So cute -- was not expecting such an enjoyable all around experience!! Will be back 1000%!!!

So we headed to Kracy Cajun Seafood and Hibachi in Tempe, chasing a little seafood satisfaction in the middle of the desert. The first thing that grabs you is the full-wall screen: sea turtles and beautiful fish drifting across it, turning dinner into something resembling a seat inside an aquarium. It's cool. The atmosphere is mellow, laid-back, and welcoming. We were seated almost immediately, and our server got the drink order going without wasting time. So far, so good. The menu was easy to navigate. I built my own boil: one pound of headless shrimp, sausage, two potatoes, one corn, and a $2 hard-boiled egg. I went with the "all flavor" seasoning, hot, and an unsweetened iced tea. Now, two dollars for a boiled egg deserves a moment of silence. I've seen cartons of 18 eggs for under five bucks at Costco or Sam's Club. I understand restaurant markup, but apparently this egg had aspirations. We also ordered Cajun fries. Small basket, good execution: crispy, seasoned just right, and worth reaching across the table for another one. Then came the bag. I gave it a proper shake, worked that sauce around, and emptied the whole glorious mess into my bowl. This is food that asks you to get your hands dirty, and I'm perfectly fine with that. The shrimp were a decent size and cooked just right. The sausage--about eight coin-sized slices--tasted good. The corn was ordinary but enjoyable. My premium-priced egg seemed to have spent a little too much time in boiling water. And the two potatoes? Missing in action. When the server came around, I mentioned the disappearance. He gave me a look that seemed slightly doubtful but said he'd get them right away. "Right away" turned into about five to ten minutes. They eventually arrived. At the table, you can get that fixed. With takeout, you might already be home before realizing your seventy-five-cent potatoes--or that two-dollar egg--never made the trip. But let's give the kitchen its due: the sauce was excellent. Big flavor, satisfying heat, and enough restraint with the salt to let the shrimp actually taste like shrimp. It coated everything beautifully. This was a pretty good meal, and I enjoyed eating it. Then came the math: $48, including tip, for one person. At that price, I start paying closer attention to every missing potato. I also visited the restroom. Luis came with me and handed it an F on the Luis Scale. It was filthy. A restaurant can put sea turtles on the wall and serve a delicious seafood boil, but the bathroom needs some attention, too. That kind of neglect leaves an impression the sauce can't wash away. Would I recommend it? If you want a flavorful seafood boil and the price doesn't bother you, yes. There's good food here. For me, though, the cost, missing potatoes, and restroom made this a one-time visit. On to the next. And don't forget to tip your servers.
