Soapy soup

Nothing exciting here. Ok, passable and nothing awry. Well maybe not the hot and sour soup which had a linger aftertaste reminiscent of dish soap. Everything else was ok but not memorable.

Decided to stop inside Lin's today to place a to-go order. I was greeted by a nice lady upon walking in. I asked her a million questions about the menu and she was kind to answer them all. I decided on the Kung Pao Triple Delight. It took me about 20 mins to get home and was still hot and fresh when I arrived. My meal was very delicious!! I still have some left over. I am pleased with Lin's China Diner and will be back.

reheated food instead of fresh order

I come here often for the lunch specials and usually have a good experience, but today was disappointing. I ordered the sweet-and-sour chicken, got home, and realized there was no sweet-and-sour sauce in my bag. I called, and they told me to bring everything back so they could give me a fresh order. When I returned the food, I expected a new meal, but instead they just reheated my original order. You could clearly tell -- some of the pieces were burnt from being reheated, and the food definitely wasn't fresh. When I asked for a refund, I was told, "your food is ready," even though nothing had been remade. I'm really disappointed in the lack of care and honesty. If a mistake is made, the least a customer should get is what was promised -- a fresh, properly prepared replacement, not reheated leftovers. I hope they improve their customer service and quality control.

I ordered chicken chowmein. The chicken was so rubbery with no test. I wonder if it was even real chicken. It could not be cut with a fork. There were very few vegetables in this dish. The sauce was a gloppy mess with way too much cornstarch Flavorless - not even soy sauce could save it. I'm done with Lin's.

no bueno...

Waitress was very polite. But, personally I could not hack the food. The taste was a bit ‍ weird-- not like the Chinese food I'm used to eating. We didn't eat the food at all.

The second time I visited, I had the Hong Shao Rou with mushrooms (Braised Pork Belly) to-go, not a huge fan of takeout and this didn't disappoint and it was good. The takeout team member was pleasant enough. They feature an open kitchen with two tops closer to the wall/glass and larger tables more toward the middle of the restaurant. From the outside it features the traditional Chinese architecture with western building base. I look forward to yaksying the rest of the menu this year.

But the inconsistency has been an issue for me, and the flavors aren't as good as they once were. Dishes I regularly ordered like Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Japanese Egg Tofu, and Honey Walnut Shrimp haven't stood out as much as of lately. Dishes like Szechuan Spicy Chicken is still one of my favorite, and Garlic Snow Pea Leaves are delicious when in season. Bamboo House still holds its place as great spot for group dining. The portion is generous, prices are fair, and overall a solid restaurant that's still worth recommending.

I'm glad I did not read the reviews from my trusted sources and Yelp friends before I went,…read moreotherwise, I might not have gone. But for me, this was some of the better dim sum I've had recently. Yes, you're in a grocery store lobby, so to speak, and yes, there's not much atmosphere other than the people streaming by going into that grocery store, but the three items I ordered (black bean ribs, har gow, shu mai) were all solid. I'll be back.

There was a time that Joy Dim Sum was a go-to spot for the Sugar Land dim sum scene. What it lacked…read morefrom the larger, traditional banquet hall vibe, it made up for in lack of pretension and lots of focus on the quality of the food and service. Sadly, it seems like those days are long gone as the latter is on a downhill slope. Has ownership changed? (#1) I'm not sure, but so much else has. There's no tea offered, but bottled water. Service and the kitchen staff is a mess where it's most evident during their busiest hours. At one point, Cantonese was spoken but it also seems that's no longer the case. Previously the food was passable, but now it's near abysmal. Siu mai was hearty, but fairly bland. The same applies to their spare ribs (排骨), beef balls (牛肉球), and steamed glutinous rice in leaf (糯米雞). I felt their custard buns (奶黃包), fried stuffed crab claw (釀蟹鉗), fried glutinous dumpling (鹹水角) and the turnip cake (蘿蔔糕) were dried out. While the shrimp dumplings (蝦餃) and rice rolls (腸粉) mostly passed the test, it needed lots of soy sauce + condiments to be worth it. The only winner was their beef chow fun (乾炒牛河), where the beef and ho fun noodles were tender, while also being adequately greasy. The bonus bits of fried egg within were a nice surprise. While the prices range from $3.75-$9.70, a majority of it will average out to be $5-6 a dish. This isn't a terrible deal per se, especially during these times. However, it is a big price to pay for service issues and sub-par quality dim sum. While I'm hopeful that they'll rebound and I hope the Joy returns, but I don't think I will. __________ (#1) FZ / FJ peeps, where ya at?

We spent about $60, and unfortunately... this was one of the most disappointing meals we've had in a while. The food tasted old across the board. The egg rolls were burnt, the sweet and sour chicken was dry and flavorless, and the General Tso's chicken was soggy and overly sweet. The only things even remotely edible were the lo mein and fried rice. To make things worse, the service didn't match the price point. For a $60 order, we were given just four soy sauce packets, no plasticware, and no fortune cookies. When I asked for more soy sauce, sriracha, and duck sauce, I was initially given barely anything had to ask again and explain I had a full meal to feed. They eventually brought more, but still no fortune cookies. My husband and I eat out often because of our schedules, and we don't mind spending money on good food but this was not it. I had really high hopes because it's hard to find solid Chinese food in the Spring area, and I was hoping this could become a go-to spot. Unfortunately, it won't be. If I weren't so tired, I would've called back to complain but I just didn't have the energy. Chalking this one up as a loss and doing better next time. Would not return and I wouldn't trust the good reviews either. ‼‼

I have the pork with garlic sauce...it's very different than most restaurants in that it has huge chunks of fresh veggies and lots of garlic. I give the pork dish 5 stars! Huge portion for a great price. What I didn't care for were the egg roll and fried rice. The egg roll was just fried mush and the fried rice had a very strange flavor. But the main dish serving was so big it was all I needed. Hot and sour soup was ok. Service was great and on point. Over all I'd go back if in the area.

The food: Beef brisket noodle rolls- A must! The brisket is tender, and the rice rolls are a perfect texture. Popcorn chicken- Crispy and served piping hot! Spareribs w/black bean sauce- Average. I couldn't really taste the black bean flavor. Also served with rice, egg, and baby bok choy. If you are in the mood for Cantonese food, this is the place! Service is efficient and speedy. Prices are reasonable, and they are conveniently located in the Hmart shopping plaza on Bellaire Blvd. The vibe is casual, but not a place I would linger too long for conversation since it's somewhat loud when it's a full house.

It was cut up, black skin, and hard to eat as it had lots of bones. The soup was also too hot to eat. I really enjoyed the chicken wings. It had a nice flavor but again, SCORCHING HOT.
