Soft seating and warm but dark and intimate, perfect for date night or a bar crawl with friends. The menu is expansive with something for everyone's taste. Very strong without overpowering. My husband got the root beer float option and it was a fun whimsical interactive option that he enjoyed, it was stronger with more of a strong alcohol taste but still enjoyable. Definitely a great option for folks in Grand Rapids and we will be back for more!

And based on the aesthetic I know the owner could find some classic glassware. We need more places like this in GR, and I need more POH in my LIFE.

The pistachio syrup was legit - there were actual pistachio chunks and no fake pistachio extract flavor. i definitely would have preferred my drink sweeter though. i was also impressed by the drink to ice ratio. so many iced drinks are mostly ice but this matcha was FULL and not overly diluted with milk. i really enjoyed the flavor of the matcha itself as well. my partner said he'd give his latte a 9.1 out of 10. unfortunately there do not seem to be any vegan food options so it will be drinks only for us.

Between the beautiful outdoor seating, incredible service, and amazing food, Gin Gin's is easily one of the restaurants I'll be visiting again whenever I'm in Grand Rapids.

Although it is small with limited seating, I think it makes it difficult for reservations as they cannot always clear the table at your reservation time. But in their defense, I can see how you would want to spend more time at your table catching up with friends or a loved one with how intimate this restaurant is. However, I thought the food was excellent. It was all perfectly cooked and displayed eloquently. The handmade pasta most certainly did not disappoint. The ingredients tasted fresh. I personally enjoy when the plates are smaller, it's always fun to share with others. Though it would be worth mentioning that each plate is quite pricey but I thought it was worth the cost.

The polpo had amazing, spicy sauce and would've been outstanding except the octopus was quite chewy. The vongole was good except, for me, the homemade pasta was under cooked. The star was the tagliatelle which was phenomenal. I don't like mushrooms because of the rubbery texture but these chanterelles were perfect as was the sauce and pasta. They gave us a little complementary bit of cake which was a nice way to end the meal.

Nate and I recently stopped in to try some of their new food menu and seasonal drinks. The new drink menu is Japanese themed, so we were excited since we went to Japan earlier this year. I got the alpenglow and Nate got the spicy margarita. Both were delicious and beautiful. We also got some happy hour snacks - the dijon sesame salad and the savory cream cheese wontons. Their happy hour is a great deal and I'd love to come back soon for that again. The salad was fresh and a big portion to share. The raw diced onion wasn't my favorite addition to the salad, but I did love the overall flavors. The savory cream cheese wontons were absolutely delicious - definitely very savory and crispy. I'd get these every time! The vibe inside at happy hour was pretty quiet but it can get packed as it's not a huge space.
