We came here for the first time eight years ago because it is right next to our favorite hotel in town, the Country Inn. It is such a good idea, and so convenient to have a good restaurant in the same parking lot as a hotel. The first time we came here it was after a long day at the gardens, and we wanted a quality place to eat in Beer City where we did not need to drive. We got a couple beer flights, and they were really good. We got all sorts of food as well. This time, we came from the Christmas market. Although we ordered several items we did not eat enough for a meal. We went back to the hotel for a swim and the family needed a late night dinner, since we basically had lunch at the market. This was a perfect place we could get to easily. We got the hot honey chicken pizza. It was delicious. The chicken was crispy. The honey had a little zing, but not too much for those in the family who do not like a lot of spice. We carried out this time and ate at the hotel. This is a perfect place to eat or carryout. I would come here again next time I stay at the hotel.

The Texas Twinkie pizza was full of cheese, which is good. The brisket was flavorful. Needed more jalapeños. But there was hardly any bacon? There was too much bbq sauce too. The beer menu is extensive. Enjoyed the Elvis juice. Overall, it was an ok pizza to share or take home for leftovers.

Met with some colleagues after work. We got drinks and food. This place is spacious and great for pretty much all types of occasions probably why it's typically busy, but another reason is the food. I think this was the first time getting there adult Mac and cheese but it was very well made and super delicious. I chowed it all down! Haven't found anything on the menu that I didn't love; highly recommend and service is still typically prompt even when busier

We came to continue our Espresso Martini quest we stayed for the French fries and Cajun Alfredo pasta it was delicious. We sat at the vbar and the severs were so fun and helpful letting us try draft beers and cocktails. It's a very laid back vibe, but classy. would make a cute date night. The cocktail flight is a great way to try a few before you decide on a new favorite

Good food and service. Dark atmosphere that's moody yet casual. Plenty of parking. Ordered the black and blue pizza which was incredible. Never would have thought fruit on a pizza would be so delicious! Brussel sprouts were very good too!

I end up here every year or so for happy hour or a holiday get-together. 3.5-4 stars. Great location right off the highway by the Park & Ride and down the street from Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. Met up with girlfriends for a holiday book exchange before heading to Enlighten at the gardens. I love all the fun names for the specialty cocktails. There are a few zero proof cocktail options. I had the Pear Pressure: pear nectar, lime, simple syrup, ginger beer, lime wedge. It wasn't memorable, didn't taste the pear (vs just ginger beer), but much better than only having soda, tea, lemonade, or sod water as options. The Loaded Tots were a hit at the table and looked fabulous! Coming off of Thanksgiving, I enjoyed them vicariously through my friends. I loved the Buddha Bowl! The blackened shrimp was cooked well and not overdone (different protein options for an additional price). The bowl was large so I took most of it home and it was as delicious the next day. Our server was friendly, attentive and let us enjoy our time catching up.

Came in for lunch on Sunday 10/27/24 around 2:30pm. It wasn't crowded, but the bar was full. We sat at a tall table behind the bar stools. Our server didn't provide her name and she wasn't wearing a name tag, but she was attentive and friendly! We decided to split the Smash Burger and the Taco Pizza. Our server asked if we wanted one of the entrees first - what a great question! We went with the burger first. The burger was on an onion roll which we both really liked. It was juicy and so tasty with the grilled onions! We both really liked it. The fries were HOT and had a crispy coating on them. That Taco Pizza though!! OMG, it was so dang good! We kept saying that over and over! It had a little kick of spiciness from the meat and the chorizo oiled crust. The combination of the light and crisp crust with the layer of refried beans and the spicy meat was absolute magic. Im going to be craving this one again for sure. It was the best taco pizza I've ever had - I liked that it didn't have lettuce on it. Mr says it's tied for first with a place that is no longer in business - so does it still count? Looking forward to going back!

I was surprised at how long it took for the 2 hosts to greet us - as we were standing directly in front of them. They were talking to one another, and it was probably work related, but to just stand there staring at them for a couple minutes while they ignored us was awkward. When they finally talked to us they weren't very friendly. Anyway, we made our way to the bar and it was full except for 3 seats. I think the bartender waiting on us was new. He seemed like he was pretty overwhelmed/in the weeds. He greeted us quickly and brought us waters when he did, which I appreciated. I ordered a Blackeberry Bourbon Sour and my Mr had Paloma Nuestra. We both enjoyed our drinks they were refreshing and well crafted. For dinner I had a really hard time deciding! I wanted to try so many things! Our bartender said his favorite thing in the menu is the chicken and rice bowl. That was something I was considering and decided to go with that. Excellent recommendation! The chicken was flavorful and so tender. The hot peppers were a nice touch. There was a lot of food too! I couldn't finish it all. Mr had the hanger steak that was served with mushroom and asparagus risotto. He said the risotto was the best he's ever had, and I agree. The asparagus was perfectly cooked and so was the steak. The space is really nice, felt intimate without being overcrowded. We are looking forward to coming back!

What a disappointment, but not nearly as much as our experience at 123 Tavern. We came in at 4:15PM before the Brandi Carlile show needing a table for a party of 8-10. The place was fully booked (but only half full at that time) except the bar (first-come, first-served). Fair enough -- but from the moment we walked up, the manager at the host stand couldn't have cared less. She quoted a two-hour wait, shut down my question about sitting outside with a flat no, and pointed us toward the bar. No sense of customer service at all. Like zero. The three of us who were there took the last open seats at the bar. Then came the real show: one bartender for the entire restaurant AND bar. He ignored us for ten minutes. My wife and friend got their beers quickly -- but my bourbon sat finished at the service station for another seven minutes while I watched the large ice cube melting as it marinated there. When I finally asked where my drink was, I got "I'm working on it." When he did finally bring it, he pushed it across the bar at me -- no apology, no eye contact, his attention on anything but me. I'll be honest about what I can't prove: I've worked in this industry a long time, and the whole thing read like my service got intentionally slow-walked. My drink held back while everyone around me was taken care of. Maybe the front manager said something after our rocky start at the host stand. Maybe they're just all bad at their jobs. I can't tell you which. I can only tell you how obvious it felt from the barstool. Everything after was the same; menus, ordering, closing out, all a slog. I had to hunt down that same manager for our check so we could get to the show, and she was all attitude, zero help. We only escaped because my wife flagged a server who found a another manager. His response to hearing all this? "I'm sorry." Nothing else. No attempt to make it right. For the first time in my life, I left $0 on a $100 tab. I'm a 25%+ tipper. That's how badly this went. Here's the thing, 123 Tavern: if you're going to bill yourself as a place to gather before events, staff the place and train your managers to act like they want customers there. Until then, I'll spend my money somewhere that values it.

We ordered arancini as a starter that came out tasting crisp like a tator tot, but the shape and taste actually reminded me more of a fried tteokbokki (Korean rice noodle) known for its deliciousness through its texture highlighting the spicy sauce. This would've been amazing had they had a nice gochujang mayo combo to dip this crispy treasure in, rather than ranch and pizza sauce. Next we tried the tikka masala pizza. Fun and inventive idea... much better than the naan pizza I had in Muskegon... however the sauce didn't taste as good as my homemade tikka masala base and though the pizza was tasty with varied texture, we found it somewhat lacked seasoning especially on the protein. If I were to construct it, instead of potato I would've had chicken, red pepper, cilantro, fresh avocado and pickled onion. Yum! Fryz'licious was slightly overpowering with the amount of beer cheese slopped on there, but a good bite with some hot sauce. Big fan of the beer cheese. Those Nantucket Backing pretzels are 10/10. Fish and chips weren't great. Not a lot of fish--two pieces with more batter than cod. Sort of disappointed with that. St. Patrick's Day specialty menu replaced their chicken pot pie with a sheperd's pie and a Bailey's cheesecake. Sheperd's pie was a good bite, exactly what I'd imagine lamb, mashed potatoes, and peas/carrots would taste like. Cheesecake was heavy handed on the booze, but a good palette cleanser after all the fried food.

Many brands were local that I'd never heard of before, and it was fun to experiment and try new things. Their food menu honestly shocked me with how tasty everything was. For a board game bar, I usually expect food to take a back seat or be phoned in, but everything was delicious! I had to try the elote deviled eggs, which was a combo I had never considered but I'm so glad someone did! I also got the truffle mac and cheese and a house salad. Both were excellent! The board game selection was extensive, with old favorites and hidden gems. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll be sure to stop in again!
