    Dog-friendly patio

If you're looking for a fun and funky spot with an Asian-inspired food menu as well as beer, wine, and cocktails, add Broad Leaf Westside to your list. They also have a great outdoor space for warmer weather. Located in the former Sovengard, I've been a few times and have always enjoyed the experience. The menu has changed a bit since they first opened but still has an Asian twist with items like bao buns, okonomiyaki, and chicken karaage. The $25 ramen seems to have disappeared from the menu, for better or worse. The food options here are a bit different than those at the Broad Leaf in Kentwood, so it's fun to visit both to try different things. On my most recent visit, I got the skull water cocktail, which was a fun green color. It's rum based with lime, coconut water, and soda, which made it super fizzy and very refreshing. I really liked it and commented on how good it was to the bartender, who told me they are hoping to can it soon. It came in a fun skull mug too! I also got the chicken karaage, which was a generous portion that could be split between two people for a snack. I ended up eating it all for my dinner and especially loved the soy and ginger pickled veggies that came on the plate. They were so good I'd honestly order the pickles on their own if it was an option! The chicken was tender and juicy and the dipping sauce was tasty. I think the chicken could've been a tiny bit crispier, but I would still order it again. The outdoor space is cool with plenty of shade and lots of seating, and it's dog-friendly. Service has always been good with one bartender in particular, have to learn their name next time. Definitely a unique spot that's a bit different than your typical brewery!

Wow. I can't wait to come back for more bao buns. We visited the patio area outside (seat yourself, order at bar). I believe it is dog friendly. We did the flights of flavor with the bao bun pairing. The drinks were all tasty and the bao buns were amazing. They had run out of bao buns, so we split the 4 between 2 people which was perfectly fine as we were appetizer crawling. We did get charged for 2 bao buns but didn't bother letting the staff know. I am sure they would've resolved it if we mentioned it though, the bartender was extremely kind. Note- they have water cups at the outdoor bar available for self service.

We've been big fans of Broad Leaf since they only had their Kentwood location, and of course we were so pumped to have the west side location open up! This spot is smaller, but the vibes are the same, right down to the art on the walls. Broad Leaf had an interesting flight for the flights of flavor campaign- both a bao board and draft cocktail flight! You can get either flights (or both!) and I was feeling a boozy slushy so I got just the bao! Derek, however, gets a beer flight every time we go, because they always have SO MUCH new to try! (And if I'm not drinking a boozy slushy, you'll catch me with a Sour Lake of some sort in my hand!) The bao was SO GOOD. It made me sad I missed this years bao down, because Broad Leaf always kills it with their bao! Always unique flavor profiles, and always delicious. Derek also got the ramen, which was heavenly. With the colder weather moving in, I'm gonna need more of that in my life. We didn't check out the biergarten, but I've heard that's also a lovely spot to hang out and have some drinks!

    Beer and Lavender French Soda

Stoked I was able to check this place out! Located below Fratelli's you'll seen a neon sign and cool art down the stairway. We were greeted by the host and seated right away. There was a fun vibe to this place and our host brought us some waters. Right away looking at the menu I was excited to see a lot of items I'm unfamiliar with but was curious to try. For drinks my bf really liked his beer snd I tried the Lavender French soda, which was so creamy with a floral hint to it. One of their weekend features was the Kimchi Arancini and it looked as good as it did on their Instagram and tasted awesome! It was made of kimchi infused sushi rice, gochujang, mozzarella, spicy Mayo, and furikake:) kinda had a lot more heat than I expected but nothing I couldn't handle. The mozzarella pull was fire! We also ordered the Scallion Pancake, which had kimchi braised greens, kewpie mayo, and a sweet soy glaze over top. This was a new kind of food we haven't experienced but we both liked it alot. After eating these two items, we decided on another appetizer instead of ramen since we were already getting full and went with the Steamed Buns. Which had pork belly and pickles in them. My bf wasn't a huge fan but I enjoyed it hehe :) We would love to come again and try their ramen next time and maybe more of the fun cocktails they have to offer! Really cool place and our server was so sweet and attentive! Check this place out if you're ever in the area!

I love the Broadleaf location off of 28th street so I was excited to try their new location! It's a little bit of a different vibe in that you wait to be seated and have a server but still super friendly and a great atmosphere. They have some arcade games in this location and an outdoor seating area (though I would imagine it's not open during the winter). They have a couple sours on their beer menu so I had the mango, dragonfruit, and strawberry option. Literally so good, I would get this again. DEFINITELY sour though haha. I split the steamed buns shared plate with my friends and we added an extra to make it 3 steamed buns. These were super tasty and the pork belly with soy caramel and spicy mayo was an awesome combination. For my entree, I got the tonkotsu ramen and I really enjoyed this as well. The soft boiled egg is always my favorite part of a ramen dish and the noodles were cooked al dente which is exactly how I like it. I parked in the dash lot about a block away for $2. It was a great evening!

Duck fat fries, mochi cake and apple with honey ice cream

Just wonderful. We're big fans of Broadleaf Kentwood and were super excited when they opened a location closer to home. Popping in for a late night dessert and snack our server was gracious and had great suggestions. We opted for 2 desserts and an order of duck fat fries to share. It was all wonderful! She clued us in on the spring/summer plans for the location including the return of the Beirgarden. Cant wait to see what they have next.

when i arrived i was the first guest but the restaurant filled up quickly throughout the night! i decided to sit at the bar while waiting for a friend (she went to the 28th st location - so make sure to communicate with your people which one LOL) the bartender was so friendly and allowed me to try a number of brews and draft cocktail. the free fall was DELICIOUS. such a chill vibe. the soup and boa were so tasty for a cold night, but i feel like i could've ate three whole entrees to myself. we had the chips and dip it is a must!!! so good!! will definitely be back and recommend

Great food. Better drinks. The best service. And the atmosphere is amazing. You need to check this place out.

so excited that broadleaf has a location on bridge st now! i got the umami caprese burger, which had a parmesan disc :O the burger all together was a bit disappointing, i think my bun just felt a little too dry. the fries were my favorite part but with the furikake ranch?! yes please. i also got the 5oz alcoholic watermelon slush that i can't recall the name of. it was refreshing! my bf got the fried chicken sandwich which he enjoyed for the most part but was a little disappointed in it too. i overheard they make their buns in house, which is cool. our waitress was super nice and attentive. we ate inside, but the outside area in the back of the restaurant looked awesome. i'll have to try it next time!

This place is a little hidden but was a great surprise! The drinks were good -- wide selection of beer and cocktails and the food was actually incredible! Very different than a normal breweries food. The menu has things like ramen, kimchi fried cheese balls (super good!) and fried chicken sandwiches. The fries were also one of the best in town! Next time I'm going to try the poutine! Only issue and keeping it from a 5 star was the service was very slow and the garden outside was not well kept--could be because it's freshly spring but it could use some spring cleaning!

    Mushroom Ramen
    Camille A.

Very nice ambiance, as I loved coming to the previous restaurant that used to be in this space. I thought the menu was extremely diverse. The service was great and very easy. This could be a dress-up occasion or an easy to grab place with friends. The food has deep and rich flavor. The owner explained to me that the vegan mushroom ramen broth, just the broth itself Is steeped for 32+ hours. I would recommend! Great to come with friends.

    Chicken egg rolls

We came for a quick drink before heading over to a reservation at Butcher's Union (previously our favorite restaurant), but we had to stay after getting incredible service and looking at the unique menu. This place was an incredible surprise. The food was some of the best I have had, the service was unmatched, and the drinks were great. We had the bao buns (my favorite), the ramen and the chicken egg rolls. All of it was great. We definitely have a new favorite restaurant. We will be recommending Broadleaf West Side to anyone who asks!

I was surprised at how long it took for the 2 hosts to greet us - as we were standing directly in front of them. They were talking to one another, and it was probably work related, but to just stand there staring at them for a couple minutes while they ignored us was awkward. When they finally talked to us they weren't very friendly. Anyway, we made our way to the bar and it was full except for 3 seats. I think the bartender waiting on us was new. He seemed like he was pretty overwhelmed/in the weeds. He greeted us quickly and brought us waters when he did, which I appreciated. I ordered a Blackeberry Bourbon Sour and my Mr had Paloma Nuestra. We both enjoyed our drinks they were refreshing and well crafted. For dinner I had a really hard time deciding! I wanted to try so many things! Our bartender said his favorite thing in the menu is the chicken and rice bowl. That was something I was considering and decided to go with that. Excellent recommendation! The chicken was flavorful and so tender. The hot peppers were a nice touch. There was a lot of food too! I couldn't finish it all. Mr had the hanger steak that was served with mushroom and asparagus risotto. He said the risotto was the best he's ever had, and I agree. The asparagus was perfectly cooked and so was the steak. The space is really nice, felt intimate without being overcrowded. We are looking forward to coming back!

In fact, my kids laughed at my wife when she got a salad and wasn't overly impressed "Mom, why would you get a salad at a place with great burgers?!?" My thoughts exactly. The service is decent, the space is comfortable for a downtown spot on Monroe Center. When I visit, I focus solely on the burgers and I've never been disappointed. The 'Meat Wagon', topped with ribeye, ham and bacon just wants to cuddle your belly from the inside. The 'Otto Von Burger' topped with a fried egg and bacon is one of the best examples of its kind. The 'Alabamer' is great when you're craving pulled pork and bacon on your burger. If you just want a traditional burger, you have that option and won't be disappointed.
