Update: owner Bruce Shabanowitz tried to report this review because he didn't like it...Be careful who you hire. I hired him through Home Depot's Pro Referral program and wasn't given a review link. I had to ask customer service to send me one on his behalf...this is just a glimpse at how crooked, unprofessional, and dishonest he is. Bruce is a nightmare to work with. He refuses to communicate with you unless it's to give him money, takes advantage of his customers, and is one of the most condescending people I've ever met...his favorite word is "courtesy." His actions and behavior are anything but courteous. Knowing him, Bruce will respond to my review with some nasty retort full of lies as he does with others. I won't be reading it. IMPORTANT: Bruce's "contract" does not mention any payment amounts or installment frequency. He makes up his terms as he goes. So make sure to save all your texts, emails, photos, videos, and RECORDING YOUR PHONE CALL WITH HIM...*NJ is a single-party consent state. You do not need his permissions for this.* I wish Home Depot vetted him further as he has multiple claims with the BBB and NJ Consumer Affairs, but somehow has all 5-star reviews on the site? That doesn't raise any eyebrows? When including my parents in both phone calls to ensure I had a witness and advice, Bruce repeatedly said, "you have to hold your parents' hand." How disgustingly ignorant is that? Please read on to learn about who you are potentially hiring: The job -- hired to do a tub to shower-kit install for a very small bathroom in my first home. Made it clear it was my only shower and only bathroom so I needed this completed in 3 days (5 days tops). I hired him because he said it wouldn't be a problem...BIG mistake. I purchased all the materials and ran my items by Bruce to ensure I had everything for the project. Bruce offered a discount if I scheduled my job within his window, I accepted. Bruce offered to pick up the bulky materials I ordered from Home Depot (the large shower pieces) with no extra fee, I accepted. These offers were much appreciated, but they shouldn't be used as collateral/an excuse to charge more like how Bruce did. If it's an issue, then don't offer the service. Problem 1: Three workers came on Day 1 and asked ME what job they were here to do. Problem 2: Workers were only here for one day; completing the demo of the shower area plus installation of the shower base; incorrectly. I was home the whole time and received no communication until Bruce texted EOD asking for a second payment plus hidden fee. Workers purchased a wider drain pipe without my knowledge and Bruce charged me $210 for part+labor claiming it as an "unforeseen issue" and "keeping the building up to code." I found out later that a shower install ALWAYS requires a wider drain pipe, which Bruce knew since he's a professional. This was clearly a way for him to charge hidden fees. We discussed this, I paid him the extra money so I can have my shower finished plus second installment. Problem 3: Supposedly one of the workers went no contact with him. He also told me over the phone not to listen to the workers about when they will continue the job since they are not the bosses (they were supposed to continue work in 1-2 days). This business operates 7 days a week. Problem 4: 7 days goes by and NO ONE CAME BACK TO FINISH THE WORK...100% one sided communication where I continuously asked Bruce when someone is coming to finish the job. Workers left the shower dripping the whole time, so I had to empty a bucket multiple times a day. Conclusion -- After 7 days of no-shows and HAVING NO SHOWER, Bruce was in breach of our contract since the job was to be completed in 3-5 days. I demanded my second installment of $860 back if no one showed up the following day since only 1 day of work was complete. Per Bruce, the first installment covered the deposit and one day's work. Bruce cannot answer a direct question and uses every excuse he can think of (ex: claims that I pushed the schedule when asking about the hidden fee, inferred that they can show up whenever they want to complete a job and not stick to the contract, said he doesn't know if he can come to finish the job because he doesn't feel welcome, mentioned made up "delays"). Give me a break. It was never his intention to finish the work after being called out about the hidden fee. I only received $410 back ($210 was non-negotiable) and Bruce unjustly kept the remaining $450 as he claimed he does not owe me. He has no clue how much work was actually performed as he incorrectly states that more than 1/2 the work was completed (wrong) and makes up details in his responses to the BBB and NJ Consumer Affairs. His story is always changing. Bruce threatened to counter sue for $4,500 if I took him to court for my remaining $450. Unfortunately, court costs/filing fees themselves are expensive and just not worth it. read more

I'm happy that I found Bruce through the Home Depot Pro Referral to install my gazebo. He returned my call right away. He was very responsive with any questions I had. He gave me great recommendations on the types of gazebo I should purchase. Once the gazebo parts arrived, he and his partner worked out the schedule and came over. He explained the steps and detail to me on how they installed it. They did a great job! I also learned that they could fix and renovate any type of jobs (big or small). If I need any repair or remodel my home, I will definitely contact Bruce. I like his honesty and his quote is very reasonable. Stay far away! We hired Bruce to lay a founation for a shed, put the shed together and replace the gutters on our house. this was suppose to take 7 working days. he received over half the cost for the project before it began. the project has been delayed multiple times due to receiving damaged gutters, wrong parts being sent, screws missing for the shed, the weather ect. The shed part of thr project took over 7 day alone and has a dent in it due to their craftsmenship. The gutters have been started and stoped also. He stopped work in the middle of it, left parts of the house with no gutters or drains and texted us at 9pm the he needs more money to move forward. With all the delays and excuses that was unacceptable. We even offered to pay half of the balance when he comes to continue the work again in good faith and the balance when completed. He refused said he would add on additional cost and a lien on our house. If the work is not completed. we will have to hire someone else and go on from there. Leaving part of the house without gtters or drains and demanding more money is a very shady move. Worst contractor i have ever hired. Bruce is basically a fraud. we hired him to install external awning (18ft). He visited out house to take a look and provided quote. Took an advance of $400. He came with couple of guys to install and attempted to install a 300+ pound 18ft. awning without bothering to find stud behind the siding to install. can anyone imagine someone installing this heavy awning without finding stud? when questioned, he became very defensive and blamed us and started yelling and cursing and ran away with his guys and doesn't even have professionalism to finish the project or return the money. my advise dont ever hire Limitless Home renovations and Bruce for any work.
