I hired Wilber's to paint the exterior of my house. Christian, the estimator, matched the price of the lowest of the other three painting estimates that I got. He also met my need to get the work done as soon as possible. In fact, after telling me that there was a two-month waiting list, once I approved the estimate, they showed up to begin the job just two days later. Not sure how that happened, but I'm not complaining. Steven, the job foreman, was very professional and highly skilled, notwithstanding his youth. Why do people I meet keep getting younger? He is a perfectionist, a virtue which you rarely encounter with home contractors. He even helped guide me with the color selection. I threw him a few curve balls during the job, and he did everything I asked him to do with a smile. He and his crew were on time every day, and were all polite, neat, and hard-working. They are acrobats on high ladders, and barely dripped a drop of paint where it didn't belong. The finished job looks great, and exceeded my expectations. It is also worth mentioning that Wilber's guarantees the durability of the paint job for three years. All the others who bid offered a two year guarantee. I can't speak to their other services, but I would hire Wilber's again for a major painting project, and recommend them. read more

the most incompetent people. the work is low level and unskilled craftsmanship. damaged my kitchen tile floor, wallpaper, hardwood floors, countertop, and sloppy work ive encountered. the best was their employee wanting to recruit me as their own client and get my entire development as clients so he may start his own company. unprofessional contractor comes in with all their issues and dysfunction into my home. the manager was a mess estimate was out of order. the entire company a mess and out of order. their prices are absurd for the work they produce not in alignment. beware if youre looking for quality work. look elsewhere!!!! read more

I've been a customer of Wilber's for several years. Up till now I've always found them to be reasonable in price, professional, reliable and trustworthy. I don't know what's happened but, they are no longer the company they used to be. I recently hired Wilbers to repair a loose newel post at the bottom of my stairs. When Danny the estimator came he explained that it might be an easy fix or more involved if they needed to install a new 4X4 interior post. Though I requested that he provide estimates for both scenarios he only sent the estimate for the worst case scenario. I let that go because I trusted that they would do the right thing should it prove to be an easy fix. When they arrived it turned out that all that was needed was to replace the wooden board in the basement with a 2 ft. 2x4 and tighten the bolt that runs inside the post. The workers were here for 1 hour and for this Wilber's decided that a fair price was $820. It seemed absolutely outrageous to me that they would charge me $820 to tighten a bolt so I tried reaching out to Wilber 3 times and asked that he call me back to discuss. Well he never called me back. I can only assume that he knows full well that he did is wrong and is unable to justify his outrageous pricing. It's sad that Wilber thinks this is how you should treat a loyal customer and it's certainly disappointing to discover what an unprofessional and unethical person he is. I certainly will never utilize the services of Wilbers ever again and I would caution anyone thinking of hiring them to think twice. Wilber is a man that lacks integrity and therefore someone you cannot trust to do business with. read more

Awful company! Came around my house and wasted my time for about 2 hours measuring and calculating...said they would give me an estimate to paint the outside of my home. Never heard from them again. They are like a lot of contractors nowadays, they cherry pick their jobs. Which ever job is the easiest and they can make the most profit from is the one they'll choose. Fair enough, I get it, but call and say so. Don't duck peoples calls and have them waiting around for your estimate when you've already decided you're not going to do the job. I hired Wilbur's Painting to paint a bedroom in my house. I have been a repeat customer. They didn't put the washing machine hose back into the slop sink, and as a result the laundry room flooded. I spent several hours moping it up with an injured leg. It was a Sunday. The next day, I called them to report this and was totally ignored. I asked for a partial reimbursement. This was several weeks ago, and they are still ignoring me. I owned a business in Montclair for 36 years and I find their attitude to be very disrespectful. Wilber's is used extensively around town, but it was clear in our experience they are taking on more projects than they can responsibly take on. Our foreman dropped off two workers in the morning and never returned until the next day. He never walked around the property to inspect the work. When I asked why he showed me photos of a "big job" in Short Hills. I guess he was there all day? It was left to my wife and I to be the ones inspecting the work and advocating for ourselves. In the end, so many corners were constantly being cut that it became overwhelming having to oversee. Workers used our yard as a bathroom (never asking to use our bathroom despite us offering it multiple times), never completed the second coat which was contracted, did not clean up, did not cover windows or other areas of house properly, and damaged several areas of our property. Honestly, I feel bad for the workers as the higher ups are clearly the problem having them do jobs as quickly as possible to move onto the next. Will never use again and lost business from other homes on our street that saw first hand the lack of accountability. read more

I see that most of the reviews here are not for the actually painting! Anyway, that is what my review is about! We contacted Wilber's for a quote to paint some replacement shingles on our house and paint where we had replaced windows. It was easy to schedule a time for the estimate. They do like you to be there to walk through the project even if it's on the exterior, which can be hard for NYC commuters. It's worth it though. Victor came on time and we walked through what he would do and added a few smaller projects like our doorway molding and rails. He sent the proposal promptly which I value. I always have to follow up with contractors and it's sometimes hard to get a call back or reach a live person. Wilbers is a larger company and you can reach them with ease. The crew did a great job paint matching and the painting of the new shingles are seamless to the old paint on the house. The scraped and sanded our window frames and they look perfect too. I was unhappy with the filling of the holes around our doorway. No questions asked, and Victor came back to take a look. He agreed and his crew came back to fix it. And it looks great now. Sharing an update on the situation described above. Wilber, the owner, demonstrated a customer-first approach and offered solutions to ensure I would be happy with the result. The work is now complete and I will say it looks much better than it did initially. It was a journey to get here though, and what I expected to be a relatively quick project (one that I would have expected to take less than a week once scheduled) extended almost three months from my initial inquiry to when the work was completed in an acceptable manner. Along the way, I had to follow-up several times to understand progress and clarify what would needed from me to proceed. As a busy executive and parent (one who is not typically available to rearrange my schedule for repeated contractor meetings or to take phone calls throughout the business day while I'm in work meetings), this minor project took more of my time than I had ever envisioned and for that I can't say the experience was seamless. I'm just pleased it is complete and that I can move on with other priorities. read more

They were thorough, neat and they even vacuumed the floor and stairs when they completed the job! I wish I knew of this company in the spring when I had my house exterior painted. Wilber's repaired the custom mouldings and repainted our back foyer and powder room after we had a small flood. They were responsive, and Reiman did excellent prep work and painting. We hired Wilbers to do exterior repairs, interior painting and carpentry. We only had a month to make the necessary repairs before we had to move in. They did an amazing job painting the interior and especially repainting our kitchen and beautifully installed new kitchen floor tiles. They were also helpful in troubleshooting last minute surprises. The work was completed on time and our home was cleared of construction debris before move in. We will be hiring them again this spring to make more exterior repairs. read more

We used Wilber's to replace our roof, complete some exterior carpentry repairs, repaint our circa 1918 house, and then replace the gutters. The company was very easy to work with. I was really impressed with the communication between their office staff and their contractors to coordinate the 4 projects and manage the timing of each step so that everything got done with the minimum of disruption. Wilber's is excellent and went above and beyond what we contracted the company to do. Got three quotes from different vendors and Wilber's had the most competitive pricing. The job manager, Eric, was excellent at communicating about the work and steps needed to complete the job. Wilber's even helped to order the doors that they needed to install from a local vendor they recommended. You could not ask for more in terms of craftsmanship, communication, and consideration. For example, the workers even returned after the job to clean up an inconsiderate bird that treated my newly painted white house like a personal toilet. We partnered with Wilber's for external painting and repair. This included replacing wood with composite where necessary and removal of wood shutters and replacement with polypropylene ones. What distinguished this company from others was the following: Danny S. was the estimator and initially met with my husband. Just prior to the start of the project, Danny returned with the foreman Olger A. He went through the project again with us and talked to Olger about job specifics. Olger is an amazing foreman, on time, efficient, skilled, detailed and an excellent project manager. Danny returned mid project to discuss the work with us and review a repair with Olger. They also did extra work for us not covered with the additional estimate which was handled very efficiently. Additionally, they did some picky repairs, such as reattaching a leader to the house, which was appreciated. The result was a beautiful house with great curb appeal - the result of good teamwork. Just completed work with them. Pleasant, timely, clean and courteous. Part of the work was outdoors and we both were plagued with rain. Unlike other painters, they would not proceed until they were confident the previous coats had dried sufficiently. Every step along the way, the office staff was in touch. That's a service that I greatly appreciated. The price was very fair (the outdoor job was difficult) having to contend with terribly peeling Rustoleum "Deck Renew". Some additional work was added once they started. I got a call yesterday to say I had OVERPAID by $140.00 and they were mailing me a refund check. REALLY, WHO DOES THAT!? I'm a pretty precise painter myself, but this job was too much for me to tackle. The work was very well done and I would not hesitate to recommend them. read more
