Steve and his team were wonderful to work with, and they are masters of their craft. First, we contacted Exceptional Stone Products for a quote to replace our crumbling front steps outside of our house, but we were not ready to move forward. Six months later, we contacted them again, explaining we were ready to move forward, but that we didn't know what style we wanted. Steve said he'd been thinking about our home and had a unique idea in mind. We worked with him to design the concept, and Steve was wonderful the entire time. He took the time to explain to us how everything would come together, and to walk us through all of the material and design choices. He was also so friendly to all of us, including my mother in law and young children. He even had our little ones make hand prints and write their names with the date at the bottom as the final step! Steve of ESP was timely, attentive, knowledgeable and professional from the start(Great family owned business). He showed up within a day of my call for an estimate and provided me with a detailed written quote for exterior water proofing/drainage work at the back of our home. His crew showed up as scheduled and his team was kind, professional and clean throughout the 3 day job. Steve and his team executed a thorough plan ...from carefully excavating, sealing, waterproofing, regrading and more. It's still a bit early to say if we will never see water in our basement ever again, but I can say that it has rained once since the work was completed a few weeks ago and the basement has remained dry! I will update this review once we have a serious multi day rain storm for sure. Lastly, aside from all the positive comments above, Steve is a person that I feel can be trusted. We had a very minor issue during the project and Steve took accountability and ensured that the minor error was corrected asap no questions asked! Thank you Steve and ESP for a job well done! Underpromised and overperformed. Our backyard patio and enclosing fence were in pretty poor shape. I spoke to a couple of contractors who wavered in their commitments and assumed we would always want the cheapest option. Steve on the other hand talked to us at length and said ok, I'll do this, this and this. It will be expensive but you'll love it. He was right on both counts, but he went above and beyond. For example, the contract called for an existing wall to be touched up. In fact, Steve rebuilt some sections and re-pointed most of the rest. Finally I have to complement his team, from the guys who worked on the stone to the carpenter who built the fence and pergola. They were prompt, friendly and impressively neat. We're very happy with the work and would certainly hire him again. read more

We had a sudden deluge of water that got our sump pump running every 2 hours for like 72 hrs straight, couldn't figure out the cause. Asked a few folks. Then spoke to Steve and decided to hire him and his team to address the issue. They diagnosed several possible causes, figured out an initial plan that we later revised once we learned more about the likely causes, and got to work right away. There was lots of back and forth and adjustments as we figured out the best solution and then they got it done ASAP. The result is that the sump pump hasn't run since (the work was completed about two months ago) and we've had several significant rains in the interim. We started off with contractor PTSD from other companies, and I think Steve sensed our hesitation at first. We had water pouring into our basement in a newly constructed house and the builders were no help. We went with Steve because he's a local guy, good engineering background, and seemed to have incredible foresight in developing long term, durable solutions. The quality of his work was outstanding. He identified and fixed structural issues with the house and regraded the lawn. Water was gone from the basement within two weeks of the start of the project. He was very hands on (rolls up his sleeves with the rest of the crew), and his attention to detail was spot on. No corners cut, can tell he really takes pride in his work. Very receptive to feedback, was always quick to come over and go through questions, concerns. He knows his craft and the results speak for themselves. We recognized the quality of his work early on, and went on to having him build a stone patio, fire pit, and additional stone drainage systems that our lawn really needed. It's been raining a lot lately, the kind of heavy rains that for the past 2 years meant another dirty water basement floor cleanup that I came to dread. The name Steve Barckley came up in a casual conversation with friends as the best in his field when it comes to water issues. He's located in Livingston, NJ and I'm in Bethlehem, PA so I was hesitant to make the call but when someone is described as the best, you have to make the call! I was immediately impressed by Steve. He inspected my basement damages, detected where the water was coming from and then we walked outside to those areas where his skilled eyes zoomed in on erosion my unskilled eyes would never have noticed. I was really in awe! I had two other (more local) companies look at my basement who then focused on my gutters not only being the issue but also the first of many steps towards resolution and I was never satisfied with their visions or proposals - or costs. Steve described to me in full detail what was happening, how it was happening and confidently proposed a resolution that made sense which would fix the erosion effectively and permanently keep the water out of my basement. Steve and his crew drove the distance to Pennsylvania and worked at my house for 2 days. They found and fixed holes in my foundation; dug up, filled and angled the land around my basement; and created wells for the windows and vents for proper drainage. They worked diligently and respectfully and clearly showed their knowledge and skills. I'm still in awe and am grateful and elated when I hear a forecast for rainy weather knowing there will be no dirty water trails of water or cleanup in my basement ever again. Thank you Steve.
