    Disconnected sump pump line
    Matt R.

Do not use this company. They never connected the discharge pipe so the sump pump was just pouring water behind my wall causing mold (see photos). They drilled through absestos tile and mastic, requiring me to go through thousands of dollars of asbestos abatement and risking harm to me and my family. On top of this they have made little effort to resolve anything. The project manager, Victor, will not return any phone calls. It's borderline comical how I will be assured that victor will call me back and he never does. Over the past three weeks I've called Vulcan over ten times and each time an exasperated person on the phone will assure me that they relayed an urgent message to Victor and Terry again, and that they will call me by end of day, but they never do. The asbestos issue is crazy because they had their employees jackhammering through a material that is know to cause cancer, endangering their employees and my family, and yet they still have zero interest in answering a phone call. Don't make the mistake I made, steer clear of this company. And if someone at Vulcan is reading this, I'm happy to change this review if you guys actually give me a call back to fix the system you installed.

Vulcan installed this stone work a little less than 2 years ago and this is the result. We are so disappointed because it was part of huge cosmetic overhaul of the whole store and now has become an eyesore. Our brand new tenant is likely not pleased with it either as they previewed the space when the stonework was first completed and looked nice. We have been trying to call for MONTHS to no avail. This is the first impression customers get when they walk into our store and we could not be more unhappy.

Job done 2 years ago. $15,000.00 emailing sending pics calling for months to no avail. They suck.

From the sales team to the installation, and customer service, everyone was helpful and responsive. The installation crew and foremen were knowledgeable and kept the team on schedule working into darkness. Clean up was amazing. No debris was left overnight or the next day. Nails were vacuumed, even attic spaces were vacuumed. I can not say enough about Minn!!!! When customer service is no longer valued, she exemplifies what it means to put the customer first. She answered all my questions (no matter how trivial) with respect and kindness. She was extremely responsive dispatching a team (prior to the installation) when I had a ice damming leak She kept us inform throughout the installation process. If I could give them 10 stars I would. GREAT JOB!!

Their pricing was similar to the competitors, but what set them apart was that they offered unlimited pier depth per section. Other companies had limits--for example, up to 20 feet, then an additional charge per foot after that. I'm glad I went with Groundworks because several of my piers ended up going 90 feet deep across 16 sections. With another company, that could have cost me significantly more. I also had their gutter guard system installed (similar to a French drain, though they claim it's better), along with a vapor barrier and mold treatment. I will say, if you have a serious mold issue, I'd recommend hiring a dedicated mold remediation company instead. I did have an issue with the mold spray, but after calling a couple of times, I was able to speak with a manager who surprisingly took my concerns seriously and resolved the issue. The salesman who came to my house, Randy S., was excellent--very thorough and knowledgeable. He always answered my calls and would text be back in a reasonable timeframe. One thing I didn't like was the same-day discount tactic. They present you with a price, then offer 10% off (or whatever discount they choose) if you sign that day. It puts pressure on you to make a major decision on the spot, which is difficult when you're spending over $50,000. There is a three-day cancellation window, but some people may see the discount as more of a sales tactic than a real benefit. I also want to mention the foreman on the job, Jose G. He was great--he answered all of my questions and even let me watch and learn a little while they were working. Overall, I was very pleased with the experience. Their warranty is transferable, which is a nice bonus, and hopefully I won't have any more issues going forward.

We had a French drain installed and never another issue with water. Now mom's house is getting ready to be sold but she's had years of water issues. We couldn't ignore it any longer so I called them again and in 2 days the main part of the job is done. They will be installing a sump pump for mom and again they hung plastic to keep the dust down they move items out of the way and day one the basement was trenched. Tomorrow the outside work begins and the drains will be laid out. After inspection they will be back to put the cement down clean up and done. I will always recommend Lou and American A1 Waterproofing. P.S. Lou's prices are still amazing after all these years between our job 13 years ago and today's.

They were meticulous and timely in their work. Recently we had an issue with our sump pump, we could smell sewer water and had a lot of drain flies coming. Lou, came right away, and helped us get to the cause. It was the main sewer line from the city had backed up to our house. A small part of our drain had to get fixed as a result and they did it right away. Outside of this one issue, which wasn't due to their work, our basement which would get flooded all the time has been completely dry. I recommend A-1 waterproofing all the time.
