Patrick (the owner) gave me an appointment for his workers to install a sump pump. The first pictures are of the check valve portion of the project. The second picture is an extension installed by Mazzone to my check valve two feet below my basement floor. The third set of pictures are from the completed job by Arid. The workers from Arid were very polite and worked quickly and very effectively with a great deal of carefulness for my home and living spaces. Their pricing was similar to the competitors, but what set them apart was that they offered unlimited pier depth per section. Other companies had limits--for example, up to 20 feet, then an additional charge per foot after that. I'm glad I went with Groundworks because several of my piers ended up going 90 feet deep across 16 sections. With another company, that could have cost me significantly more. I also had their gutter guard system installed (similar to a French drain, though they claim it's better), along with a vapor barrier and mold treatment. I will say, if you have a serious mold issue, I'd recommend hiring a dedicated mold remediation company instead. I did have an issue with the mold spray, but after calling a couple of times, I was able to speak with a manager who surprisingly took my concerns seriously and resolved the issue. The salesman who came to my house, Randy S., was excellent--very thorough and knowledgeable. He always answered my calls and would text be back in a reasonable timeframe. One thing I didn't like was the same-day discount tactic. They present you with a price, then offer 10% off (or whatever discount they choose) if you sign that day. It puts pressure on you to make a major decision on the spot, which is difficult when you're spending over $50,000. There is a three-day cancellation window, but some people may see the discount as more of a sales tactic than a real benefit. I also want to mention the foreman on the job, Jose G. He was great--he answered all of my questions and even let me watch and learn a little while they were working. Overall, I was very pleased with the experience. Their warranty is transferable, which is a nice bonus, and hopefully I won't have any more issues going forward.

They did an outstanding job installing their drain system around the entire 96 foot perimeter of her wet basement. For the estimate, Anthony (Papariello) walked and inspected the basement with me and as he did explained everything they would be doing - moving the washer/dryer/sink, dust covering basement items, cutting paneling for access to paneled walls, opening up the floor with electric hammers, digging below the footings, carrying all excavated material and paneling out to their dump truck, installing stone, drains, drilling weep holes, moving the existing sump pit, installing a new Zoeller sump pump, applying neutralizer and waffle board, and re-cementing the floor. We then went through the work and his literature item by item as he wrote a proposal detailing everything, including the terms and conditions and transferable lifetime warranty. I had 5 other waterproofing contractor proposals for the exact same work and Anthony's proposal checked every single box at a terrific price. Jeffry (Sandi) and his six-man crew came the following week to do the work. Jeffry again reviewed everything in detail and answered all my questions before beginning. I went down every so often to take photos and see how they were doing. I could not believe how labor intense the work was and the impeccable work ethic of his crew. They did a beautiful job and left the basement spotless and broom clean. Bottom line, the photos speak for the outstanding work from start to finish. Incrdible.

I really wanted to like these guys. I hired Plaster Pro to do stucco repair, caulk, and paint the…read moreexterior of my house this past May. I will start with the positive. Shivon, the owner, and Geronimo, his subcontractor are very nice people. But that's essentially where the good vibes end. Just another contractor disappointment. From the very beginning, it was clear something was amiss. They were in such a hurry to get the contract signed and start work. But when the time came to start the job, very little was happening. There were maybe 1 or 2 people here at any given time to tape up all the windows and do some of the stucco repair. But days would pass and no one would show up. The house was uninhabitable because all the windows were sealed with plastic during some of the hottest days of the year. I would ask repeatedly why we weren't moving along and I was told by Geronimo, "we still don't have materials." Which begs the question, why are starting a job you don't have materials to do? Why are you sealing up my house with temperatures in the 80s and 90s if you don't have stucco or paint?!?!? This became the refrain for the next several weeks. (This was supposed to be a 2 week job.) We pushed into June... then July. The material issue never seemed to get resolved. Then it became about weather which is understandable. But that was just a few days here and there. Ultimately, sunny days would come and go and maybe Geronimo's brother or sister would show up to texture things. But this created another issue. The quality of the work just wasn't there. How can there be any continuity if every step of the way, the process is piecemeal. Well, this is where the contractor should be the first line of defense when it comes to quality control. But Shivon was disappointingly pretty absent throughout the process. I can count on one hand the number of times he made it out to my house. I would call and text and no response. I'd then call his office manager (his wife, Ellaine) and he would get right back to me with some excuse as to why he didn't respond the first 3 times. I would see Geronimo more frequently, but his skill set was just not there and he, frankly, seemed more interested in securing direct jobs from my neighbors then doing the job I paid Plaster Pro for. So, I became quality control but my Spanish isn't great. So, there was definitely a language barrier. So, if my contractor is basically AWOL, what am I paying $22K for?!?!? In the end, the job never got finished. There are windows that didn't get fully caulked. Sloppy paint work. Sloppy texture work. The house clearly didn't not get a full two coats of paint. I can actually see where there are two coats and where there aren't. I have stucco and cement glopped onto my pavers and roof. Paint on my window screens. And they used red duct tape to seal my windows as opposed to Painters tape. So, I have duct dried tape glue on my window frames. And there's an entire section of stucco on the garage I had identified to Shivon on our first meeting that is separated from the substrate that never got repaired! Shivon did ask for the balance of what I owe them but the terms of the contract are that the work must be 100% complete. He insisted Geronimo said it was complete, but here's the wrinkle. If Shivon had bothered to come out and do a final inspection, he'd know it wasn't. But he left it to me because he was too busy to give Geronimo the final punch list. True Story. He ultimately relented and said he'd come out to take a look. But the last text I got was "Good Afternoon, how does this Thursday look for us to meet?" I immediately responded the same day with "What time? That was August 23rd. I haven't heard from him since. In the end, it was Shivon's son, Isaiah, that clued me in to what may have been at play here. From the sounds of it, they do a lot of high end work for rich people and celebrities. So, in the end, I was likely not a priority. But, though $22K may not be a lot of money to Shivon and Plaster Pro, it's the most I've spent on this house outside of buying it. Update: I've started uploading photos of how their shoddy work and cheap materials can't even last one NY winter. I'll keep adding pictures since it's only February. What a waste of money and time.

In…read morethe recent round of rain storms, my sump pump stopped working as it is supposed to, and I ended up with about 5 inches of groundwater in the basement. I was able to get the sump pump working again, but 3 days after it stopped raining, I was still getting a lot of water in the pit. I found a sticker for Contractors Waterfproofing, and figured they might of installed the system for the old owners, so I gave them a call. From the moment he picked up Greg was service oriented and responsive. He asked for my address to look up the job, and when he couldn't find it, he called back within 5 minutes to ask what was going on. I explained the problem, and he immediately told me that was normal for my part of town, and told me I just needed to replace the pump and I would be fine. He offered me a price that was half what his competitors charge, but I told him I would do the work myself since I am capable. He then answered a ton of questions about the install, and we had a great conversation about life and how my son could maximize his potential long-term, as he is currently a plumbers apprentice. The bottom line is that the system Greg installed 20 years ago is still working perfectly, and when the pump failed, he not only gave me a fair price, but then walked me through how to do the job myself. It was located at the lowest point of the neighborhood so that the yard is over 4 feet below the street grade. I asked many contractors and nobody could give a warranty on their potentially trial-and-error treatment until I found Gregg. Gregg and his crew know what they are doing. They offer a warranty. We had a French drain installed and never another issue with water. Now mom's house is getting ready to be sold but she's had years of water issues. We couldn't ignore it any longer so I called them again and in 2 days the main part of the job is done. They will be installing a sump pump for mom and again they hung plastic to keep the dust down they move items out of the way and day one the basement was trenched. Tomorrow the outside work begins and the drains will be laid out. After inspection they will be back to put the cement down clean up and done. It was a large project…read moreinvolving digging up the old floor, leveling it, adding in multiple pumps and French drains, and we ended up having to redo all of our underground pipes. They were meticulous and timely in their work. Recently we had an issue with our sump pump, we could smell sewer water and had a lot of drain flies coming. Lou, came right away, and helped us get to the cause. It was the main sewer line from the city had backed up to our house. A small part of our drain had to get fixed as a result and they did it right away. Outside of this one issue, which wasn't due to their work, our basement which would get flooded all the time has been completely dry. I recommend A-1 waterproofing all the time.
