Five stars all the way for Jersey Dry for performance, professionalism, cost, staff efficiency and…read morecraftsmanship. If you read other reviews, you'll find that their positive experiences mirrored mine. Without hesitation I would recommend Jersey Dry. If you want to know more about my experience, continue reading. Our house had basement water leakage caused by storms for decades before I decided enough was enough and began to research and search for a solution which was the installation of perimeter French drains. I was also apprehensive and cautious to identify the right company who was going to dig up the basement floor in a nearly 100-year-old house. Initially I was planning to interview three contractors and after the third visit I was perplexed by the differences in their proposals. Each recommended a French drain trench along the perimeter of all four walls, but there were differences such as the placement of the exterior discharge pipe, the location of the trench relative to the furnace, type of piping, and duration of work. Regarding piping, one uses PVC; another the flexible perforated, corrugated plastic pipe; and another a grate system with a rectangular plastic piping. All estimates were within a similar cost range. These differences led me to contact a fourth; that was Jersey Dry. Darek Snella provided a comprehensive explanation detailing the scope of work and an estimate for the French drain and two sump pumps. He suggested insulating and encapsulating a crawl space as a separate project. Frankly, that was a sound idea and something I hadn't thought about yet made perfect sense. At no time was there any sales pressure. The estimate was in line with the others. After I contacted quite a few of the provided references and heard lots of reassuring comments about Jersey Dry and Darek and Jerry, I called Darek and he returned to take exacting measurements and to video the specifics of the excavation work. A modest down payment was given and a start date chosen. On the scheduled day, Jerry and the crew promptly arrived. He is a master at his craft as are the team members. Jerry kept me informed on the progress of the work at the start and end of each day. To my surprise, there was never a mess or any dust infiltrating from the basement to upstairs. At the end of each work day, the area was tidied. The noise level was well below than anticipated. Neatness, communicative, friendly and concern - attributes that made the project go well. The crawl space was insulated, leveled and encapsulated, providing unexpected storage. A note about the discharge pipe. Our town doesn't permit cutting the curb to make an opening for the discharge pipe. One of the initial three contractors planned to extend the pipe to the street by cutting a section of the sidewalk and the curb. The other two planned on the outflow to end in the middle of the lawn. Darek (Jersey Dry) planned to excavate under the sidewalk for the discharge pipe and to end with a pop-up at the edge of the curb. No cutting of either the sidewalk slab or the curb. That's what was done and it works without a problem.

This was the second time working with this team. As expected, Darek put our interest in the center of his recommendation without any up charge because of the neighborhood we are in. We were treated fairly with full transparency. Darek was responsive and patience helping us to navigate a viable solution within our budget and needs. Jerry and his team were prompt arriving on the target date and time. They've gone above and beyond ensuring timely completion of the project and diligent follow up to ensure quality work being delivered. I would recommend Jersey Dry Waterproofing for any of the waterproofing project, planned or unplanned.

As a result, I had to deal with penalties and violations from the township that cost me more time and money. Gary took months to perform a job because he put me on the back burner in favor of getting new work from other potential customers as opposed to finishing the job he had with me. A three week job took eight months, contrary to his promise, and his excuse is that he has to prioritize trying to rope in more customers over taking care of the ones he has. Unlike performing the work and getting the job done, when it comes to the payment amount and schedule, Gary is always on time, even coming to your house late at night and on weekends to insist on cash, and calling and texting you incessantly. The guys Gary uses for labor are the same guys you can find yourself looking for an honest day's pay, and on top of all that, Gary verbally abuses and berates them. What is the point of hiring Gary when you can just pick up those guys, treat them well, pay them the same or a little more than what Gary does, and get your job done quickly all while saving the premium Gary charges for himself? Terrible. Never again.

Then he recommended a plumber (Mazzone) that would fix one facet of the whole issue. After the owner of the plumbing company came out and fixed what he needed to quickly and at a very reasonable price the worker from Arid came out to view the final phase of my problem. Patrick (the owner) gave me an appointment for his workers to install a sump pump. The first pictures are of the check valve portion of the project. The second picture is an extension installed by Mazzone to my check valve two feet below my basement floor. The third set of pictures are from the completed job by Arid. The workers from Arid were very polite and worked quickly and very effectively with a great deal of carefulness for my home and living spaces. I completely recommend both these companies for any waterproofing projects you may find that you need.

After several estimates, I landed on All County. I recommend them, but with some major reservations, and here are the deets: Sales: very responsive (naturally! They want your business.), and thorough with answering questions and explaining the process. Price: competitive with all the other estimates I got. Project: this is where things start to get dicey. Guys showed up on time. No project leader, just the workers. Language barriers made communication tricky at times. This was problematic as the salesman had described a certain construction approach, but these guys were doing something else. I had to call the salesman a couple of times during construction for clarification or for him to speak with the workers. That should have been a red flag. Also, this work was done in winter, and although it seems like common sense in hindsight, no one told me to turn off the central forced air heat. A fine layer of dust coated everything in my home (and some of the flooring they dug up in the basement to install the French drain was asbestos tile...ugh). How could they not ensure the heat was off before starting such a messy project?! Afterwards Part 1: I began getting water in areas of my basement I'd never had water before (although the original damp area, which had prompted me to install French drains in the first place, remained dry). I had to call the salesman several times in the weeks and months that followed. To his credit, he was always very responsive, although he couldn't understand or explain what was going on. After several months of repeated calls and visits, they finally decided to dig up the flooring in the area where I was getting the most water. Again, workers showed up with no project leader and a major language barrier. What they uncovered was incredibly suspicious to me: there was a quarter-sized hole in the main sewer pipe (that pipe was jutting out of my basement floor in an area that had been dug up to install the drains and was located in the area where water would occasionally mysteriously appear). The workers showed it to me, and it was evident "someone" had accidentally punctured the pipe and tried to repair it by gluing a bent metal piece over the hole. The guys cemented it up with waterproof cement and repaired the area of the floor they'd dug up. The alternative would have been to replace the entire pipe for mega $$$$, which I refused to do since they assured me their fix should be adequate. They did not charge me for this work, and rightfully so. Afterwards Part 2: I was having a final inspection for a new furnace that had been installed four years ago (yes, my town was late to the party!). The furnace was fine, but the inspector found a huge crack in one of the vents coming out of the furnace. The ductwork was tucked away in a corner area behind the furnace that's tight and not easy to get to, an area where no one would ever go...unless you were installing French drains and needed to access the entire perimeter of my basement! The inspector said the crack meant that the furnace was just blowing carbon monoxide back into my home(!). I had to get that repaired at my expense. Since the furnace was only four years old and everything was on good order except the crack, it was obvious it had been damaged (as opposed to a defect due to age). Of course, there's no evidence either of these damages were caused by All County. However, both were issues that didn't arise until AFTER they installed the drains. And both were problems that were located in areas of my basement that only they had been in or had access to. At the end of the day, it would seem the water issue was addressed. However, the French drains cost me much more than just French drains when all was said and done. If you use All County, proceed with caution.
