I recently hired Katamount Construction for a kitchen renovation, as well as an entire first floor update, including updating all of the floors. The team was not only perfectionists on their work, but they completed the entire job in just 6 weeks. That included removing two walls, taking the kitchen down to the studs, installing all cabinets and appliances, and installing a new floor. Their master carpenter David might be the most amazing contractor I ever hired. He made sure that every inch of my kitchen was done perfectly, and even designed and built a hood vent that wasn't part of the original plans. I'm sure their work is fine, but their estimate was 3x the cost of the guy I ended up using....to add, based on their response below where they claim i never got an estimate, they are wrong. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt (probably a mix up with the name) but here is the text I got from them, "Hi Dominick, this is Ashley with Katamount Construction. We engaged Katamount to replace our leaking roof, update a bathroom damaged by the leaking roof, and modify a wall between our kitchen and living room. It was great working with one contact to do it all. It saved a lot of time and was much more cost-efficient. Katamount removed the old roof, fixed all the issues with the structure underneath, and had the roof back together in one day. They even updated the structure for better ventilation. Katamount knocked out a pass-through window between the kitchen and living room, making the space much more open. David and the guys did a great job dealing with the electric behind the wall and blending the transition between the rooms. Katamount did a great job taking our bathroom idea and making it a reality. They told us what we needed to get so they could put it all together for us. They had to modify the room's structure to make it all work, and they did a great job with it. Katamount Construction recently replaced a number of structural posts supporting a roof overhang in the front of my house. I had noticed that at least one of the posts was rotten at the base and was starting to rotate -to be safe I decided to replace them all. I solicited a quote from another contractor, but when he bailed on me I called Katamount -thank god I did! Katamount returned my call immediately, reviewed my issue via pictures and offered me a reasonable quote. They came to perform the work a few days later, doing an excellent job of shoring the roof, removing / replacing the structural posts and cladding / caulking them with nice material. They even replaced and reconnected a broken piece of gutter that was attached to one of the posts and connected to an underground pipe. I'm a professional engineer and I deal with contractors / construction regularly. These guys knew what they were doing and did it well. I closed on the purchase of my first home in November of last year. Immediately after moving in, one of my skylights had a leak that dripped through the attic into the bedroom below. I had another contractor replace the flashing and install an ice guard in a dip in the back of the house where the slope was not flush (there was almost a step down to the main roof, where the water would collect). More recently, a second skylight began to leak badly. I contacted Katamount Construction for a price quote. They completed the roof in a day - while it is a smaller roof, this included adding plywood to fix the start of the slope of the roof over the bathroom, so it began flush with the main roof, installing a ridge vent (the house was originally built in 1930 and this was not added with any subsequent roofing jobs), and replaced all three of my skylights. The roof is beautiful - I don't know how to add photos to a review on Yelp, but you can see my review on Google to view the end result. I am so, so happy with my roof and will be contacting Katamount for future home improvement projects as well as recommending them to everyone I know. I also want to add that the pricing for everything was transparent - I knew exactly what I was paying for the roof, the skylights, and the debris removal. I'm going to add that the price I paid for the roof alone (not including the skylights and dumpster) was only a little more than I had paid another contractor for two temporary repairs. Also need to add that it was raining Friday night into Saturday morning, and the work was done Friday, so I had zero leaks for the first rainfall since I moved in and that has seriously reduced my anxiety. read more
