Located on Thousand Oaks Boulevard across 24 hour fitness, this small and quaint restaurant has extensive menu of Peruvian food at reasonable prices. Parking is available on street or parking lot behind the restaurant. I ordered the Chaufa de Quinoa with salmon for $15.99 and the dish came with generous portion of stirred fried quinoa with assorted vegetables and small bit salmon. I loved the stir fried quinoa being so flavorful and feel greasy. I also ordered a side of fried yucca and it was perfectly cooked with slightly crispy outside and soft inside. Came here for lunch this afternoon and was greeted with a smile! We ordered papa a la huancaina, lomo saltado, and tallerin verde con pollo. My family is from Peru, so my expectations are usually pretty high when trying new Peruvian restaurants as I tend to compare them to my family's cooking. With that said, the food was delicious! Not too salty, but still flavorful. The restaurant itself was very clean (including the bathrooms) with Peruvian music playing in the background but not too loudly. The pricing was higher than what I'm use to, but overall great quality food and great service. Will be returning if I'm ever in town again! read more

I have long been mourned the closing of Galleto in Westlake which had what I think was THE best and most flavorful chicken. I saw the sign out in front of Limena boasting wood fired chicken so decided to give it a try. I was amazed to find it's been here over 2 year! (So much for promoting Business on the Boulevard! ) The chicken was tender moist and extremely tasty! Even the rice had a nice flavor. As noted in all the other reviews take the time to chat with Ruben, co-owner and chefs pop. This is this is a charming family business that I hope will make it for the long run. I'll be honest, I've never had Peruvian food before but I was definitely in the mood for trying something new while I was getting my tires done on my truck next-door. Gilbert made a suggestion since I had no idea what I was going to get and I have to say it was probably the most delicious thing I've had in a long time. I could see the effort; they have a wide variety of Peruvian food options. HOWEVER, the taste is very much lacking. As a Peruvian from Lima and having had the best of Peruvian chicken (like from Pardos, Rocky's, Chio's) this by far takes the cake as the least tasty and bland I've ever had. Pretty good Peruvian food here I'd give it about a 3.5 stars. I ordered the Lomo saltado, some yucca frita and the chicken. The chicken had too much cumin flavor for my taste. It had no other flavor or smell coming from it other than cumin and that's not a good smell - it was overpowering. The Lomo saltado had great flavor, but I walked in about 20 minutes after the lunch special had ended I was charged dinner price but feels like I got a lunch sized portion - there was barely any beef on it. I wish the yucca frita had been served with a sauce. Like maybe a side of huancaina sauce. I want to return again to try the ceviche and see if i get served more beef next time. If not then I'll keep looking for a new location. read more

Excellent! So fresh and tasty! We got the limeña sandwich, pollo saltado and 1/2 roast chicken. Everything tastes really fresh and homemade. The green sauce that comes with the food is excellent and helps to give a little more flavor but isn't too spicy like Mexican salsa. The owner was out cleaning tables and talking to guests and you can tell he takes pride in his food and restaurant. The bread for the sandwich was fantastic - crispy outside and also soft inside! Oof this place is delicious. Food aside, the service is incredible. Cashier was so friendly, explained the dishes to my boyfriend and I. Gave us his recommendations which we ordered and it did not disappoint. Started with the halibut ceviche which was insanely fresh with cancha mmmm chefs kiss*. Both our entrees were the perfect portion popping with flavor. The owner came out and gave us the background behind the dishes which was incredibly kind. Food- Nothing compares to Peru's Taste in Northridge, CA. NOTHING. Their Yucca frita was good, the sauces were NOT. Ordered pollo saltado, the food tastes like soy sauce and nothing else. We also ordered the pollo a la brasa which required an EXTENSIVE wait and it was smoked and overcooked. It did not have good flavor. Service- We arrived when there was a rush and somehow they dropped or lost all the orders and everything got jumbled up. We were hungry, but exercised patience and tried to be understanding. But they brought us our drinks THIRTY minutes after being seated and food did not get to us till 45 minutes (appetizer of Yucca) and then 50 minutes for my plate and we waited an extra 15 for my friends plate! I asked them to take my plate for them to warm it up as I had been sitting there waiting for her plate. It was just awful service. The waiter scoffed when he brought out the plates finally (mine was reheated, mind you) and he scoffed and laughed and offered a silly apology (haha we're sorry) for the errors. Awful service. I regretted having to pay and give a tip in advance. They also have favor for certain friends of the establishment as we watched two tables get preferential treatment. Super rude. Ambiance- Tiny place and gets pretty full around midday. So be prepared to sit outside. I hate when restaurants have you pay upfront. I get it. But it's the worst. I will say the older gentleman was kind and tried to apologize well for the errors and issues but still having paid in advance, we didn't receive any funds returned or any complimentary kindness for THEIR error and our grace and patience. I am very much about fighting to keep mom and pop shops so I'm sad to be honest and share this review. But feel it needs to be said. The whole experience was sucky but had the waiter been kind and appropriate it would have been okay. There's no excuse for terrible service. Won't be going back. read more

After seeing some YouTuber make Pollo a la Brasa, we had to have some. So we looked up where to get some and ended up here for lunch the first time today. Our bar is pretty low for Conejo Valley restaurants in general as you kinda get middle of the road stuff at best out here, so our expectations weren't all that high. Holy smokes, the food was fantastic! We had a whole Pollo a la Brasa with Peruvian beans and plantains. The chicken was super flavorful, juicy, not salty and was complemented well by the yummy green sauce. The plantains were cooked perfectly, with the perfect amount of caramelization making them sweet and delicious. Beans were really good as well. We ordered to-go, without atypical special, specific instructions or anything like that and the wait for the food was not bad at all. We spent the time looking over the menu and scoping out some of their other dishes. The place inside is cute, and the staff was very good and professional. We will most definitely be back as found this to be some of the most flavorful food in the 25+ years we've been in the Conejo Valley. read more

WE DROVE ALMOST 3 HRS TO TRY THIS PLACE !!! (And we'd gladly do it again, probably weekly if gas wasn't so expensive) We have been on an adventure to try different Peruvian restaurants all around Cali from San Diego to LA and the IE and we have found the winner. Thank you Yelp for leading us here because the reviews don't lie, this is Michelin quality authentic Peruvian food right here that I sadly won't be able to find anywhere near me. This was an amazing cultural foodie experience because the owner came out to chat with us about the roots of their famous Ceviche Limena (fun fact did you know ceviche actually originated in Peru?). It was such an amazing personal experience to know how their ceviche is prepped and where the ingredients are sourced from (spoiler alert it's from Peru). Then tasting the dish after was mind-blowing. The big chunks of fresh halibut and the lime and the leche de tigre *chef's kiss*. The best part was the roasted corn nuts and the Peruvian corn with the yams, this combination of salty sweet and sour is genius. The portion was just right for two and I appreciated how they read our minds and served us the ceviche first and brought our entrees out piping hot as we were on our last bite. You can really tell they take pride in their food and enjoy sharing their culture. Service was fantastic! We got our food so fast. Food gets even better with the pollo a la brasa quarter chicken with the fried plantains and the tallerin verde con milanesa steak. The chicken was absolutely the best chicken I've ever had! The chicken was perfectly tender and juicy and somehow the skin was super crispy and you can taste the seasoning. The fried plantains had a little crisp to them and was soft on the inside, one of my favorites! It went so well with the green salsa! I was saddened we forgot to try the rice but the green salsa is like no other we have had before. It is not super spicy but very flavorful. The spice is just a quick subtle heat but doesn't linger in your mouth where you feel like your mouth is on fire for the rest of the meal so don't skip it! The tallerin verde was perfectly al dente and creamy with hints of basil and the steak milanesa was so tender and flavorful. Prices were extremely fair for the quality we got. I ordered over the phone a deconstructed pollo a brasa sandwich, asked the guy to not forget the onion salsa bc last time they did, explained I don't like food touching specially sauces bc it gets soggy, hence, deconstructed. When I get there they give me a tiny container of the salsa filled half way, in the past they given me a much bigger container for same order. The $20 sandwich is focaccia bread with rotisserie chix (usually dryish) that's y the salsa is so important. The register guy was rude and disrespectful even told me I never said deconstructed, he then proceeded to tell me next time explain it in spanish, if he didn't undesirable me over the phone he should of ask then, not serve the sandwich on the same box as the fries, which made it all that much soggier. He was very annoyed and somehow blamed me to the chef. They gave me the extra salsa but charged me for it without saying, so when I saw it I reminded him they owed me one from last time... they made me wait over 10 mins to give me the same sandwich we were both very annoyed he said I had to talk to the chef who never came out to speak. I was there for over 30mins chef never bother, it was another kitchen assistant that very nicely stepped in and was able to complete my order. That chef and that register guy are terrible, will never come back! read more

There was a fair amount of guests dining and in line (it was sunset time), so the Asian inner me knew the food is worth waiting in line for. We had seats reserved to dine outside. Haven't dined out since pre-corona and the location was quite peaceful with the lull of passing cars. I appreciated how the waiters were polite and wore masks too. We ordered the family special Pollo A La Brasa with Inka Cola, fried yuca, french fries, and house salad. The salad was abundant with colors: radish, carrots, purple cabbage, and cilantro. I am in love with the yuca and fries: golden, crunchy shells, and the insides softly melts with the green hot sauce. The owner came to make sure we had a good time and he was funny and charismatic thinking the red bean hotteok I made was made of ube. We also ordered Alfajores and they were reminiscent of Vietnamese mung bean cakes: crumbly and sweet. Perfect food coma. read more

Totally worth the drive! I've been hearing great things about this recently opened Peruvian restaurant so I had to come check it out. We had the Ceviche Carretero as an appetizer and really enjoyed the combination of textures and flavors - the halibut melts in your mouth like butter, the corn nuts have a nice crunch, some sweetness from the yams and let's not get into the spicy leche de tigre - absolutely delicious! As an entree, I ordered the Lomo Saltado and will definitely have to order it every time I come no matter what! The sauce gave the whole dish a rich flavor, the beef was tender and the rice was cooked perfectly - the grains were separate & fluffy. I'm a fry lover so I know a good fry and these did not disappoint. They had a great bite that held up to the dish, which is hard when fries are mixed in with sauce. Throughout my meal I was sipping on Artisanal Peruvian beers that I hadn't tried before and was pleasantly surprised with how fresh & crisp they were. A nice accompaniment to an excellent meal on a warm sunny day! Lastly, I couldn't leave without picking up a box of their Alfajores cookies. They barely made it home (we had a long drive back) lol! I definitely recommend this restaurant! Shout out to the chef, Joshua Burga, who really understands flavors & textures in cooking. I'm part Peruvian and always searching for authentic Peruvian food that doesn't require driving to the Valley. This place hits the spot! The ceviche was so fresh and Lomo Saltafo was delicious.
