Why oh why did I wait this long to visit Lily's cafe !! Cash only $50 and over in order to use Debit Food was fresh and delicious . I went with the Tuna on Ciabatta bread and it was loaded with delicious albacore tuna , Swiss cheese, tomato and lettuce. I also had the cup of their organic fresh chicken noodle soup and it was full of flavor ! Their homemade iced tea was also delicious . The owner greeted us , was friendly and super sweet. Parking in that immediate area is a pain but they have 10min parking up front so pick up is an easy option . My husband had the turkey on wheat and devoured it . Everything at Lily's is amazeballs. People complaining about service can leave because that means more soup for us who enjoy it. They literally run out of soup so like seriously more soup for us. The food is clean and refreshing; afterwards you don't feel heavy which is the perfect work lunch. If you try it and for some miraculous reason you don't like it (I'm pretty picky so it's mind boggling that there's reviews saying otherwise...to each their own), try a different soup! The turkey chili has a TON of meat and is delicious. Her pastrami sandwich is to die for. Chicken noodle soup is perfection. Everyone I've given her clam chowder to was an instant favorite that I now pick up on fridays to take home to my family in Bakersfield. Lily is a fantastic owner and face of the business. She's given recommendations for when I feel sick and always delivers. She recognizes my voice whenever I call at this point. Parking can be challenging but I've only had to drive around to find parking once which was during the lunch rush. Poor timing on my part. I managed to unlock my gaze long enough to notice the sandwiches, the rotating list of daily homemade soups, and the turkey chili. I guess I'm the exception to all the reviews because I left this place unimpressed. I had the recommended Turkey Chili which, to be honest, should be called "Bowl o' Beans" because this was a 9-1 Beans to Turkey ratio. When I ordered, I was asked if I wanted onions and cheese on top. I said yes to cheese, and this was worse than the extra .50 for a cheeseburger instead of a hamburger. $1.50 for a slice of Swiss (?) on top...I guess it was a big bowl, but if it's a big bowl of stuff you (or other restaurants) would prepare differently, you wouldn't be happy, either. $1 extra because it's chili (that's how it goes on the menu) and $1.50 for a slice of cheese that costs, what, $3.00 for 10 slices at the supermarket? Small. Tiny. Cash only. and parking can be quite a pickle. Lily's got some requirements but given the fresh food and excellent customer service she puts forward, I don't mind jumping through these small hoops. Ordered to go the other day and food was ready in less than 10 mins. Lily herself walked our order over and chatted with us for a few mins. She bid us farewell with a big smile and handshake. Turkey sandwich was delicious and fresh. Sure, I could have made it myself but would gladly fork over $8 when I'm feeling lazy/don't have the ingredients myself. The turkey chili was BOMB!!! Very flavorful!! Totally recommend this, yum! Sadly can't say the same for the pasta salad. While the ingredients were fresh it was lacking that Italian-zesty flavor. Wow! Thank you fellow Yelpers. I followed your reviews and advice and drove over to Lily's Cafe yesterday. I've been in desperate need to switch up my lunch routine and now I've added another fantastic spot to places I would definitely do lunch! First off, Lily (I'm guessing that is her name), is amazing with a capital A and a plus at the end! She has so much confidence. She runs that place like you wouldn't believe. The tiny place was packed when I arrived and I never saw her sweat. Calm, cool, and collected baby! I ordered within 5 minutes. Yes, there was a line but she speeded everyone through without making them feel rushed. I ordered the vegetarian sandwich on olive bread. I asked her how long until my order would be ready. 10 minutes. And true to her word, 10 minutes later I walked back into the cafe and my order was all bagged up and ready to go! The sandwich was huge and oh so tasty with mixed greens, feta cheese, avocado, red peppers and a yummy dressing. The olive bread rounded out the sandwich perfectly! I had 1/2 of it at lunch and was so full I saved the other half for an early evening snack. That's one way to get over the afternoon blahs! Go see Lily and her cute little cafe. I even get to VEG out here because the grilled veggie sandwhich is striking to the tastebuds. A well seasoned and grilled eggplant, red pepper pair comboed with some fetta cheese and juicy red tomatoe, top it off with a bite of pepperchini and it really is hard to believe your eating healthy with a taste that does not bore. Was having a craving for Chicken Soup. Found them on Yelp searchingly for it. Perfect little spot. Ordered take out. Sandwiches, delicious chicken soup. It was everything I wanted and more. One of the items I ordered at the last minute when I picked my order up. Can't believe I asked for something with Jello in the title but it's so much more. The Jello is not quivering like Jello. It's an amazing blend of Jello, fresh berries (black berries?) with chopped nuts and several chunks of what appeared to be Cream Cheese. It was SO good! Very smooth and creamy. So much more than just Jello. Check their specials. Going back on Thursday for her beet and asparagus salad. And of course the Jello item. Very reasonable and generous portions. WOW! I go out to eat lunch every day in Burbank and hadn't give this place a try. I have had allll the local sub shops and most other places as well but this place is a KEEPER! I had the Black Forrest Ham on Rosemary w/ a Mediterranean Salad. The sandwich was one of the best I've ever tasted. Everything was soo FRESH! I am adding this place to my list and will frequent it a lot. It's a great place to have in the neighborhood as Lily herself is chatting with the customers (first name basis) and providing GREAT customer service. There were a few downsides with my experience but nothing to write home about. -Parking is on the street so if you don't get lucky, :( -There was about a 10 min wait just to get to the cashier/pick up desk even though I called my order in. (that's not necessarily bad because that means they are busy!!) -My salad had a little too much dressing for my taste but next time I'll be sure to let them know to go easy on it. I've eyed this place for a while and I typically have a great sense for interesting restaurants but it unfortunately fell flat for me. It's cash only, this I was unprepared for. Since it was my first visit the cashier let me pay with card but assured me that nothing other than cash would be acceptable again. That's a great way to lose me as a return customer. The house salad dressing was good but it utterly drenched my greens and the turkey sandwich was, fine. I filled me up.
