Blue Box Bakery - Marionberry panacotta

Blue Box Bakery

My husband and I got married this past September. We were directed to Christina based upon the…read moresize and location of our event - due to her minimum pricing Blue Box is not an option for small weddings but was perfect for our medium size guest count (just over 100). When meeting for our tasting, we went with the more extravagant 8 flavor option as my husband is a chocolate fan but I am not...this was well worth the price as we got 8 mini cakes to try which meant plenty to take home and enjoy over the weekend! Christina won us over with her flavors and enthusiasm, she provided some off the menu suggestions for mixing and matching sponge and fillings which was awesome. Ultimately, we settled on a mix of a traditional wedding cake (we were so pleased to get more than one flavor choice), along with a smaller gluten free cake and a number of sweet treats to appeal to a wide range of dietary restrictions and palates. When it came to design, Christina was very attentive to our inspiration photos/vision but also mindful of our budget as sugar past dahlias are not easy or inexpensive! When we discussed incorporating our dogs, she had a vendor lined up to make figurines and took care of the ordering process once we provided her some photos. Ultimately, she knocked it out of the park both with appearance and taste! I am hopeful that she waives her fee minimum in the event we want a one tier anniversary cake (-:

My only gripe is that I would LOVE to order that cake again to surprise my SIL with, but alas due to the order minimum I probably won't be able to make it happen. Totally understandable as Christina is rightfully thoroughly booked with bigger orders.

One Bite Cafe - Oreo Croffle

We found One Bite Cafe when searching for new interesting food on the Eastside of Seattle and their…read morecroffles immediately caught our interest. The cafe is in a small outdoor shopping area with many other shops and restaurants sharing one big parking lot. It was not crowded when we arrived so we parked right in front of the cafe. The inside is big enough with a good amount of tables to sit down and enjoy the food and drink. Their menu has a variety of options with the croffles displayed right in front of you so you know what they look like. Their drink is decent but didn't impress us as much as the croffles. This was our first time trying croffles so it may not apply to everyone. They have both the sweet (with fruits) and salty (with meats) options and that fits us perfectly because we have different tastes. The croffles were crispy, not too sweet, and I think they would pair really well with a cup of tea or coffee for breakfast. In overall, I think it was a great experience. The fact that it is not crowded already makes it a good place for chilling during weekend morning where you can enjoy delicious food and drink.

Pretty disappointed tbh. I haven't been to One Bite in a…read moreminute and I was wanting a croffle today so I ordered through UE. What happened? The strawberry croffle looks nothing like it used to. I loved the strawberry creme they piped on but what I received is just whipped cream... On top of that, the croffles have shrunk. Look at my OG review photos and you'll see it too. They were 1/3 larger before imo. They're pricey so I now don't know how I feel paying that for a single croffle of that size with plain whipped cream. I'm sad.

Before the closed down, I paid for two Korean dogs and after paying, their machine broke, so the employees then wrote me a "gift card" for me to bring back and get my two Korean dogs at a later day when they fixed it - all of us thinking it would be just a few days. They ended up closing for "maintenance" and then stayed closed for a couple of months - when I suppose this is the time it changed hands. I went in today with my "gift card" and ordered the two Korean dogs (which I had already paid for with the old owners) and ordered some other items as well. The employee took it to her manager. The manager then took it to the new owner, who was literally sitting 5 feet away from me. She said NO! Then after I explained the situation again, she said that she give me one. Not the two on the card. I totally get it. I could have been absolutely a liar and taking advantage. BUT I am not and was not. So, yes, it would have been nice for her to honor the words and obligations of the previous owners (she didn't keep any of the old staff either which made me sad because they were incredible staff and known for their great customer service), but she chose not to. Then the electronic menus were not working so the staff member had to read to me about a few things. Then I paid cash and they didn't even have coins to give me correct change. Looks like it's a rough start to what used to be a great mochinut store to go to. And she would have had made a long time customer had she trusted me, the card I brought in, and honored it. Today, I'm leaving with kind of a bad taste in my mouth and I haven't even taken a bite of anything yet. Hopefully the food tastes better than the service.
