Why was I ever paying $50 for pedis at red door?? Stupid stupid stupid! For $42 at Lilyana's I got both mani and pedi, and it was seriously the best experience. First off, it looks like a typical salon till you notice how sparkling clean the place is; polishes are actually color-coordinated, there's classical music playing, massage chairs are in good shape and the place doesn't smell at all. Lilyana gave each finger and toe special attention, a hot stone massage for legs followed by a chair massage while my nails were under the dryer. Lilyana's has always been my go-to for pedicures. The salon is quiet with classical music playing and no chitchat among the staff. Now Lilyana is here alone, with shower curtains separating massage chair/foot soaking tubs. I've always found all their sanitary procedures very good, and now they are doing everything I can think of to manage Covid. read more

I've been coming to Lilyana's for at least 10 years. She takes walk ins but I usually make an appointment at least an hour ahead of time to be sure they can take me. It's a pretty salon, with a nice staff. The staff speaks English. I've been very happy with the manicure and pedicure services. You get personal attention. It's not a factory operation like some other local places. They also provide waxing services which I have also been happy with. I feel perfectly comfortable with their COVID 19 precautions. Plastic sheets at the pedicure seats, and plexiglass screens at the manicure stations. They ask that you wear a mask, and wash your hands upon entering, and of course they wear masks, the correct way. read more

I 've already reviewed Lilyana's but wanted to update because they are just THAT amazing. They just got in new pedicure chairs that are so dreamy, it's almost as good as going for a massage. Also, while getting a pedicure they put a heat pack on your lower back. During your manicure you get a heat pack on your upper neck. Following your manicure you get a brief neck massage. All the while there is beautiful music playing... It is the most relaxing 2 hours of my life. read more

When the going gets tough, the tough get pedicures. I've been working late on four simultaneous projects. I'm stressed out, and rough heels have been adding to my anxiety. Today, I decided to take a break. I stopped into Lilyana's since it's right across the street from my office. They took me right away. Sarah took me over and gave me a warm soak. My office is so cold, I feel like I commute to Antarctica. It was nice to get some feeling back in my feet. I took great joy in reading about Teresa (from the Real Housewives of New Jersey) and her bankruptcy proceedings, while Sarah worked on my feet. The massage chair was great. It has separate controls for your neck and back; they also give you a pillow. Sarah used a foot stand, and shaved my poor neglected heels with a razor. She used a hot stone to massage my legs, and wiped them down with a hot towel. She was meticulous in her work. While my polish was drying, she gave me a neck and back massage. I also had the chance to chat with the owner, Lilyana. I've never had such excellent services included in the price of a pedicure ($30.00). read more

CUSTOMER BEWARE: I called Lilyana's at 11:00 AM on a Saturday asking if they were busy and if I could come in for a manicure/pedicure. The woman on the phone said 'yes' and asked me when I would be there (10 minutes) and my name. When I arrived, I was told that a walk-in had come in and now I would need to wait 30 minutes. WHY WOULD YOU MAKE A RESERVATION IF YOU CAN'T SEE ME FOR 30 MINUTES? This was my first time going here and I won't be going back. I liked this place the first few times I went there. They did a nice massage after my manicure and they charged a greatly reduced price (I think it was $25) for my 12-yr-old step-daughter's mani/pedi. However, the last few times I've visited Lilyana's I've been less than happy. I went in last Wednesday as a walk-in. I asked if they had time for a gel mani and pedi and the head owner lady (don't know her name) seemed reluctant to answer me and stressed out by my arrival, so I asked out if she perhaps had too many appointments to accommodate me (which I completely understood and told her so given my walk-in status). But she insisted that it was ok, she can do the mani/pedi. She wanted to do the mani first, which was very suspicious and based on that I got a very big hunch that I wasn't getting my pedi based on her behavior. I was right! After my mani she said she had no time for my pedi so could I come back later? Ummmm, heck no I cannot come back later!! And you should have told me you couldn't do both instead of pretending you could only to send me away with half the job done! So I went to Janet's Nail Salon around the corner and got a great pedi. Also, my gel mani is not good. She rushed through it and now It is currently DAY 5 and the polish on my left thumb has completely peeled off, plus I have chips on 3 others where she got polish on my cuticles. If I lived closer to this salon, I wouldn't review it for fear of it becoming too popular. This is probably the nicest nail salon I have been to in all of the DC metro area. It is clean, friendly, great polish selection, and the quality of my mani/pedi was excellent. It is easy to park and instead of the usual blaring TV, they have nice soothing music. My technician did a great job, carried my stuff from the pedi chair to the mani table and then the dry station. She gave me this great mini massage while my nails were drying. All for $42. This place is AMAZING. The woman who gave me a manicure was extremely detail-oriented. She worked on my cuticles with quick little strokes of the cuticle snipper, gently and deftly. (I feel like I'm writing a romance novel, but it was THAT good.) She did a few extra steps that I other manicurists don't normally do (for a manicure of this price, at least), like painting the edges of my nails, putting quick-dry solution on my nails, putting cuticle oil on twice, and so on. The nail polish application was done expertly. Seriously. Probably close to my best manicure ever. Also, she did the typical hand massage with lotion, but the lotion was herbally scented - reeeeally comforting scent - and she's good at massage. It's all about the little things. So. It cost $15, which is a low-to-standard price for this uppity area of Northern Virginia. Here's what makes this experience amazing - she gave me a BACK MASSAGE for the 5 minutes I was at the drying station!! I have never had that done at a nail salon before. NEVER. I love this place. I also got my upper lip waxed. It cost $10, which is a tad pricey in my limited experience, but again she did a couple of extra additional skin-soothing steps. Amazing! This place is a hidden gem! My mom and I went for pedicures and manicures, and the women who took care of us couldn't have been more attentive or professional. My parents have lived in McLean for 30 years, and I decided to try this place based on the reviews. It was even better than expected! All the equipment and tubs were sparkling clean and looked brand new. The shoulder and neck massage is such a nice touch. Great that they're open on Sundays too. I called on Saturday afternoon, and we had no trouble getting two appointments for the following morning. And it's so well-priced. We will definitely be back from now on! read more

I'll echo the sentiments of previous reviewers by saying that I'm hesitant to leave a review because (selfishly) I don't want this place to become overrun with customers - both times I've done a walk-in so far, I haven't waited more than 5 minutes for my pedicure to start. This place is right up the street from my new office, so I will definitely be making it my "go-to" spot for summer pedicures this year. Who doesn't want a pedi during lunch? Great color selection from OPI, Essie, China Glaze. The colors are neatly organized by shade, so if you go in like I usually do with a specific shade in mind, it's easy to find the perfect color. They also have nail colors for sale if you prefer to go that route. The salon is clean & quiet. I don't know if I'd call it a "spa atmosphere" by my definition of a spa. It's one big open room, with space in the front for the nail stations, pedicure chairs in the back, and a couple of small rooms for waxing. I'd say it's a step above a run-of-the-mill nail salon, though. They have signs advertising different add-ons for pedicures -- something about a gel pedi and something else. I don't know. I never usually upgrade my pedis unless I'm going to an actual spa for a special treat. In this case, you honestly don't need to because their basic pedicure comes with some great pampering perks of its own. Chairs are standard massage-y/cushion-y things. I've sat in a lot of pedicure chairs, and while these are comfortable, the massage functions aren't the greatest. I usually forget it's even on while I'm sitting there, and the customization of the functions through the remote is limited. Fortunately, they make up for it with hands on massage (more on that later). I've been twice so far, and had a different lady each time. Both of them were wonderful. I'm not a chatty person at the salon. I'm there to get a service, they're working. No need to make idle small talk. I would rather read a magazine or play Yahtzee on my phone, and I'm sure they would rather not have to pretend to be interested in where I'm from, what I do, and how many kids/pets I have. That being said, I know some people are more comfortable when they are talking to their nail tech. The ladies in the salon are very perceptive and seem to tailor the experience to the person getting the service. Another bonus: none of that pushy business with asking me if I want my eyebrows waxed, or a manicure also, or to add on one of the aforementioned services over and over again. The pedicure itself is very thorough and includes leg massages by hand and... my favorite... a mini hot stone massage on your feet and legs. Feels. So. Amazing. I can see now why people get these all over their bodies (note to self: get a full body hot stone massage -- message me if you have recommendations). The right amount of attention to detail is paid to cuticles and nail length -- I don't feel like I've been butchered when it's done. I haven't seen them razor anyone's feet, but maybe they do upon request? My feet are never that bad -- upside to frequent pedis. If yours are, you might have to ask for some extra sanding on those bad boys. When you're done, your nail tech will escort you and your shoes to the drying station at the front of the salon. I always find these a bit awkward, especially when you're staring across the magazines stacked on top at the lady across from you, counting down the minutes until you can leave. This situation is helped immensely by the short and sweet chair massage you get for the first few minutes you're sitting there. You are given thin foam flip-flops at every appointment to wear out (no extra charge), which is great for people like me who never remember to bring post-pedi appropriate footwear. They take credit cards & will ask you how much tip you want to add on. If I recall correctly, a basic pedi is $34, which is higher than a no-frills pedi... but I'm usually so relaxed by the time it's all done that it doesn't really matter. :) read more

My feet are happy. My nails are pretty. What a wonderful experience today at Lilyana's. I went with 2 of my roomies with an appointment. One roomie commented on our way home (in the haze of our delightful experience), "I felt like a celebrity!" We had the salon to ourselves and were beside ourselves at how attentive, relaxing and lovely our experience was. Every detail of the salon works to make the experience "other-worldly" good. Our appointment was early afternoon so happy sunlight streamed in through skylights, classical music wafted through the room, no weird chemical smells were present. Pedicure chairs had fashionable feather pillows. The manicure bowls were deep and pretty. Most of the professional products were in pretty containers. The shop is run efficiently for maximum relaxation and amped up ambiance all the while minimizing distraction/movement (paper towel pieces were cut to perfect-sized pads and in a drawer ready for nail-polish removal). I gave this place a try after reading previous positive reviews, but I will never be going back again - do not ever get full set acrylics here. I have gotten full set acrylics on many occasions, and it is very clear to me that the lady who did my nails did not know the proper technique. It was so bad I had to have her stop before putting the polish on. The only tool she used was a normal nail file even after putting the acrylic nails on. The acrylic nails were literally twice as thick as usual, very uneven and bulky, not to mention it took over an hour to do what normally takes ~45 minutes - it was painful to sit through and watch. Bottom line - it was bad enough that I ended up going to another salon to fix up the job and then put on the polish. I left feeling completely disappointed and ripped off ($40). read more

So I called on a whim today to see if they could get me in for a mani/pedi. They agreed (never took my name) and I showed up 15 minutes later. After an extended soak (they were fully booked, all three occupied), they started on the pedi and someone came over and did the mani at the same time. It was actually a pretty good mani/pedi, not anything wonderful but decent for $40. I decided (against my better judgment) to get my arms waxed while I was there. All I can say is that while the mani/pedi and extended soak was an hour, I left two hours after showing up. The woman really struggled to wax my arms. And the other girls were walking in and out the entire time as their break room is through the waxing room. To add insult to injury, I have a huge bruise on the back of my arm where she ripped the skin and I noticed after I left that the polish wasn't really well done. So it's ok, I might go back just for a mani/pedi (at $40, it's not a bad deal in McLean). But only if I check the polish really carefully. read more

I went in for a manicure/pedicure and was pleasantly surprised at how clean the salon was. The business seemed to of taken extra precautions that made me feel comfortable getting services done. What stood out to me the most was that the pedicure supplies were a one-time use pack. This on its own would have me return as a regular customer, as I am very big on cleanliness. After reading all the great reviews of this place I decided to check it out today. I had called to make an appt. 3 hours before the time they gave me to come in. I arrived 5 min. Ahead of my appt. they were ready for me and set me up for my pedi. My technicians name was Chris, I asked with a C our K .. I don't think she spoke that good of English but it didn't matter..she was amazing at her trade. I got the Chinese jelly pedi with a buff... Excellent.. After the manicure, she actually gave me a 2 min. Shoulder massage... I will go back to her anytime I need a mani pedi.. I have been coming to Lilyana's for several years and had been happy with the service and the results. However, the past two times have been real disappointments. After the first unsatisfactory experience earlier this summer, I decided to come back today to give the place a second chance since I had been a happy customer in the past and for many years. Whereas the original owners/staff were diligent, professional and took their time, the new pedicurist I had the last two times was unprofessional in many respects: - she cut my skin in several places - she kept on chatting with her colleague while attending to me - she rushed through every single step of the process: buffing (almost non existent), scrub done in 5 seconds, massaging with hot stone (15 seconds) - I did not get a massage after the pedicure was over because she rushed off to take care of an unscheduled appointment - and to cap it all, I paid in cash for the $33 fee and had not particularly wished to give her a tip because of her poor service and she just said: "Thank you very much" and walked away with the cash. Now I am upset with myself for being too polite and too soft with this pushy service... To quote another dissatisfied client: there was no pampering or polishing. I will look for another place and never come back here. read more

I had a terrible experience on Thursday going in for an eyebrow wax. The lady did not clean my eyebrows thoroughly and left one eyebrow thinner than the other :( There were so many hairs that still needed to be waxed/plucked. So I kept telling her what to pluck. Today I got french pedi and french shellac mani, it was just ok,nothing special, service was ok, they weren't to nice, it took her forever to do my nails, but it's not the worth part, when I was doing my nails I gave another girl my cart to pay and when she brought it back I was shocked they charged me 91$! Well I asked her why it so expensive and the answer was that 7$ of this 91 was because I came with shellac on my toes and it was 7$ to take it off ,what? I never heard that someone will charge extra for it, when you do pedi it's all ready part of it, guys just a nice reminder you are not a red door spa to charge so much for that type and quality of service!! read more

I hate to do this- but this place is just not what it used to be. The nail tech turnover is high- the new nail techs are no where near as good as the old ones. I got a Shellac manicure here recently that chipped in two days. The complimentary massages that were once offered are now luck of the draw- most of the time they do not give them anymore. read more

Don't go here for a gel manicure: they have botched 3 manicures of mine with the black Opi clamshell nail dryers! I went back over and over - hoping each new gel manicure would improve - given my other good experiences. There are many nail salons in the area, but Lilyana's has always been my favorite. They give hot stone massage with a pedicure, and a shoulder rub while your nails are drying. The staff is kind and helpful and the salon is very pleasant - classical music playing in the background and since it's relatively small, it's never loud like some salons.
