Went in here after preschool graduation to reward our boy with a sweet treat. The store is easy to miss on the busy street so make sure you use your gps if you're not familiar with the area. Lovely little store with handmade sweets of all kinds. From chocolates to gummies and a full service ice cream & fro yo bar, Liled's doesn't disappoint. The staff was kind, friendly and moved quickly. The ice cream was creamy and cold but not the point it would be hard to eat. You could choose to make ice cream a sundae complete with whipped cream, sprinkles, & cherry or just grab a scoop (or two)! They even offer an old school banana split. The only draw back is that seating is pretty limited.... Roughly 12 seats in total (1 large booth and 2 round tables). Best thing about this place is affordability. Everything was reasonably priced. For under $20 bucks you can get a few great treats AND support a local business. Pro tip: if street parking isn't available, check behind the store! Today was NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY (16 July 2023) and I wanted to support a local business. You can't get more local that Liled's Candy Kitchen. If feels retro and yesteryear with their round tables and sweetheart chairs. There are softserve options (mostly dairy free - yea for the vegans) and sugar free. At least 24 different fresh made ice creams that you can buy by the scoop, the cup, the sundae, the split or quart, you choose. I chose the banana split and it was a delight! I chose the 2 scoop with Strawberry Cheesecake and Pineapple coconut. The sauce choices are strawberry, caramel or hard shell chocolate. They offer whipped cream (so fresh), chopped nuts and maraschino cherries. Hubby had the Pineapple Coconut and the Lemon. I tasted the lemon and it was so tart and lemony! Loved it. We had a lovely server / cashier. She was so patient and took time to make our orders were ready for us. Such as dole whip, ice creams, assorted chocolates, sundaes, shakes, freeze dried candies, and etc. I have been craving Dole Whip for a long time and I'm so glad I have a local spot to now grab it when my cravings happen. When you step in, you are instantly teleported to the past. It was a welcomed short escape. There are all sorts of enticing, old fashioned confections like delicious caramel apples. I was given a sample of their caramel apple, and it was the perfect combination of a tart apple and smooth, creamy, and buttery caramel. The helpful young ladies that work there said to let them know if I wanted to taste any of the frozen yogurt or ice cream flavors. They have a good variety of flavors in both yogurt and ice cream, including non-dairy frozen yogurt choices. They also have prepackaged frozen yogurt to take home. I decided on the banana cream fro-yo, prepackaged to go, and It did not disappoint. They have all sorts of nuts, toffee, etc. They are very attentive and personable. Finally made it to this little gem of a chocolate and ice cream shoppe. Service was very good. Staff are super friendly. I didn't try the ice cream but pick up some assorted milk and dark chocolates with nuts and marshmallows. They have an ample selection. I did buy a small piece of rocky road, I was surprised to not find any walnuts as I was told there was some in there. It wasn't as yummy as I expected without the walnuts and it makes a difference. Hence the 4-star rating. I did love the pineapple coconut marshmallows. They were very fresh. I will definitely support this local shoppe again in the near future. I went to Liked's to get a sugar-free frozen yogurt. The only flavor was Cheesecake. I bought a cup. When I started eating it in my car, I noticed that the yogurt was extremely thick and had a strong sweet taste. By the time I got home, I had a stomach ache. I called Liled's and spoke to a young lady. She claimed they cleaned the machines daily. I think there was something wrong with the mixture. She pretty much blew me off. Now that there is no other place in the Benicia/Vallejo area, I will go over the bridge for my frozen yogurt. I received a response from the owner. I do not want a credit. I simply wanted the mgt to know that there was something wrong with the frozen yogurt that I bought. I do not have a lactose intolerance. read more

My family have been visiting lileds for years. I'd go with my step dad and he'd grab a box of candy for my mom. As an adult I'd visit and the caramel and candy was home made. Everything melted in your mouth and the quality was dependable. Now, it is under new ownership. The caramel is tougher than toffy. The chocolate is waxy and bought out. Recently, my gf paid $9 whole dollars for a small bag of popcorn. Upon opening we saw that the strawberries weren't dehydrated enough, and added moisture to the bag of popcorn. $9 for mushy popcorn we won't eat. Children who came in were well behaved and jokingly complained about the recent closure due to the vacation the owner took. Old school candy scales lined the walls. Employees briefed me on a little history stating the shop has been open for 82 years and all of their treats including the chocolates and ice cream are made in house. Even though it was close to closing time they generously answered all of my questions as I stared hungrily into the display cases without a clue as to what I was going to order. Multiple ice cream selections from chocolate to cheesecake. Not your average chocolate selection including milk, dark, and sugar free options. Over the counter view of candy preparation for the next day. Affordable! $13.00 for about a dozen pieces of chocolate plus a chocolate malt. They gave me the extra malt they couldn't fit in the cup (this definitely won me over) I did feel the awkward stare as I took pictures but that didn't spoil my time. These aren't your average commercially made candies and creams. Be prepared for twists on flavors you can't imagine. Some of my selection I wasn't a fan of but that's okay because the ones I loved made me smile like a child. life's a box of chocolate, you will never know what you will get! It's also a walk into a nostalgic European old fashioned candy and ice cream parlor of yesteryear. Throughout the stores' walls and shelves, one can behold vestiges of a historic candy shoppe. Remnants of whimsically painted shelves and colorful signs adorn the entire store. Antique metal candy scales, glass candy mason jars and an old stamp dispenser are showcased on its shelves. Carefully decorated candy and chocolate delicacies tastefully perched behind glass shelves and white paper boxes. Nuts and popcorn delicately bagged with handwritten labels. I come here for one main reason---caramel apples! As the weather gets cooler, caramel apples emerge from its kitchens and they are abundantly available. Liled's uses Granny Smiths that are crisp and juicy and smothers each apple with thick gooey melt in your mouth thick gooey caramel glaze. My husby's favorite treat! Plain ones at $3.25 each and with dipped in chocolate and nuts at $4.95 each. You cannot just buy one. I buy at least a dozen of these fall treats and I give them as teacher appreciation gifts. I haven't found caramel apples quite like Liled's in other nearby counties. It's ok. While the weather stays cool, Liled's will keep making more. And, I'll keep buying them. Yummy! read more
