Happy I was able to wake up early this time around. Their pastries are mango sticky rice Danish (8$) and black sesame mochi (6$) ah! Sold. Fresh, delicious, and worthy of their James Beard nomination. As another reviewer said, they are a bit pricey but they're so worth it for pastries! Also tried their iced latte with ube coconut syrup this time around. It's light, personally I liked it. Their coffee is truly not the highlight everytime I've gone which is 3 times now including their other location in Eado. Their pastries alone make this place a 5/5. We always try a new coffee shop on Sunday and this one was next on our list. First walking up this place was huge, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and very quiet it would be the perfect place to work. The guys were super helpful being out first time and helped us navigate the menu. We usually get a pastries but today we just did drinks, I was a little shocked by the reviews saying the coffee was not the front runner here because my husband and I really enjoyed the coffee and both said we would come back. I got the halo which was listed as a favorite and it got a 10/10. It had so much flavor and not too sweet. My husband who usually only gets cold brew was actually very surprised and loved it. My husband's cold brew also was made very well and I love a shop that makes its own syrups!! Long story short we will be back for the coffee and for a pastry item next time!!! read more

Easy to miss this place. In a very industrial looking area. The interior is really lovely and deceptively spacious. The Cambodian Iced Coffee was decadently rich and sweet. And the baked goods? We ordered quite a bit and then regretted we did not order a carrot cake roll, so I corrected that. When asked if I wanted it warm, I asked the worker if that was the play and she said yes. Finally got to visit Koffeteria ! Well, this was L'il Koffeteria but it is the same... Ever since I read that Koffeteria had made it to the 2024 James Beard semifinals, and was the first bakery in Houston to get there, it had been on my list. Today, happened to be in the area where their second location l'il Koffeteria is located and visiting it was a no brainer ! James Beard nominations is like the Oscars for food and restaurants in America. Vanarin Kuch- the acclaimed baker who owns this cafe not only reached semi finals in the Outstanding Bakery's category, but was also awarded the 2024 tastemaker award for his pastry creation including Pistachio Baklava Croissant. In this really cold weather got the Cortado - it came in the cutest of glasses. It was warm, strong and soo good. Ginger Coffee - Ginger in chai is must for me and this was a coffee twist. Interesting. Corn Bread - it was savory with mild sugar in it. Kinda eggy taste. Service was fast and the girl was in such good spirits. She was lovely to talk to and bother with my questions ... lol... Interiors and ambience- absolutely wonderful. It has an open feeling with various kinds of furniture. Free wifi. Absolutely love this place and their food. Definitely unique flavors that you've never tried before and worth the hype. The ambiance is very nice and quiet. Just wish there was stricter rules on kids coming into the cafe and treating it like a jungle gym. Came on a weekend and it was packed. I really love the cool design of the space. The modern decor and the variety of seating is really nice. I got the tiger upper cut and my friend got the make ya halo for our drinks. We also shared the chicken mole croissant, the Chinese sausage brioche, and the mango sticky rice danish. The tiger upper cut was really strong. I knew that it was thai tea with espresso, but I expected more of a sweet drink. The bitter flavor of the espresso was definitely more prominent with a very mild hint of thai tea at the end. If you are looking for something that will wake you up this is the drink for you. (6/10) The make ya halo also had really mild flavors. The coconut milk and ube flavor were very subtle compared to the coffee. Though this is their take on a halo halo drink I would say the flavors are not as bold as I like. (5.5/10) The chicken mole croissant was good. The croissant was standard, but the mole had great flavor. I just wish there was more mole or mole flavor throughout the pastry. (6.5/10) The Chinese sausage brioche was delicious. The brioche was soft and buttery and I loved how there were bits of Chinese sausage throughout the bread. The pickled veggies on top was also a great addition to provide some contrast in flavor. They helped to breakthrough the fattieness of the sausage and the heaviness of the bread. Would definitely get this again. (8.7/10) The mango sticky rice danish was also spectacular. The danish was flakey and buttery and the mangos on top were so fresh and perfectly ripe. There is also a layer of stickey rice cooked into the danish and really made this one of the best pastries I've ever had. I will be running back to get this. (9/10) Overall, Though the drinks weren't my favorite, the pastries were phenomenal. The shear variety and the innovativeness of them was awesome. $$$ Attached and one of the main spots of The Quad, parking spaces are a premium here. I found myself parallel parked on the street right next to a steep water ditch. So beware folks! Once inside, the vibes are definitely more welcoming and relaxing. (except for the 80's love songs blaring). $8.5 for a Cambodian Iced Coffee $8 for Pho Kolache The Cambodian Ice Coffee was delicious, but I have a hard time differentiating it from the Vietnamese Cafe Sua Da. Tastes the same... looks the same... except the price is a lot higher than what it should be. Pho kolache came out to be the same size as a regular kolache but with the added pho beef flavors into the mix. Good overall pastry but again, the price is pretty high for a kolache. 1 coffee and 1 kolache... close to $20 for my total. I'm sure some people don't mind, but I'm going to be more selective with my dollars. I see why people like Lil' Koffeteria. With their accolades and attention, they're milking their stuff for as much dollars as they can. Its a one and done for me. Nice sofas though. $$$ read more

I've been wanting to try Koffeteria for a while now, so when I heard they opened up a second location in spring branch I had to stop by! I ordered the 'Cambodian coffee' and my sister ordered the 'make ya halo' and the earl grey pastry. Sadly, I was super impressed. I thought everything tasted ok; I was expecting for the taste to be unique but it wasn't. The interior inside was really nice and it felt very clean. They have a lot of seating so great place to chill, work or study at. Parking is limited we had trouble finding a spot. The employees were very kind!!! My new fav coffee/breakfast/work-spot! The staff is kind and welcoming, which sadly isn't the norm a lot of places these days. The coffee is always well made and balanced. I can confirm they make a real cappuccino, YEA! The scones, cookies, buns, and kolache are all delicious. I try something new every time I visit, and haven't been disappointed yet! I've never encountered a crowd (also YEA), but everyone seems respectful and aware of others who might be working. They have clean restrooms, and an outdoor area with seating. If you like more bitter coffee flavors, you might like this place. If you're a sweet coffee person, you probably won't. Asked for the coffees we got to be "extra sweet" and they were not at all. Also $9.50 for the specialty coffees we got was pretty outrageous. I definitely won't be back for their coffees, but the pastries we tried were good. BEEF PHO KOLACHE: Delicious! Meat tasted marinated and flavorful. Bread felt and tasted like good quality. Bottom got soggy though so it was a little messy to eat for a kolache. CINNAMON ROLL: Delicious! Especially when heated up. Dense. Felt like great quality. SALTY CAMBODIAN: I thought this was very bitter, but my bf (who doesn't mind bitter coffee) thought it just tasted like a regular unsweet latte. Not sweet AT ALL even though we asked for it to be extra sweet. Definitely not worth the price imo. We couldn't even taste any salt at first, but after about 30 minutes, it got super salty. My bf didn't like it at all. He even swirled it constantly to try to taste some of the salt in case it wasn't mixed well, but he never tasted it until the end. And by then it was a disgusting amount of salt. TIGER UPPERCUT: I asked for it to be extra sweet and, at first, it basically just tasted like Thai tea, which I liked. It wasn't mixed at all though because all of the Thai tea flavor was just sitting at the bottom. So when I drank it all with my straw, I was left with extremely bitter coffee, which I hated. Receipt said the large had 4 shots of espresso and it sure tasted like that for the last 2/3 of the drink. Make sure you stir this if you get it. read more

The menu seems to be the exact same as the original location and the quality is definitely on par as well. Everything that I've had here is just as good as the EaDo spot, coffee and food. This is probably my go to coffee location now that the summer hours have them open on the weekends. The pastry display and checkout counter is minimal but the finish product is huuuge. I was so surprised that I've been craving them on the constant now. Location inside is a bit modern eclectic with somewhat limited seating but has an open area with some umbrellas outdoor. No pets allowed inside. The staff is so sweet and always have a smile. I enjoyed a tasty Salty Cambodian here on a quiet Sunday morning. This Koffeteria outpost is in an unassuming location, but has ample parking and seating inside. The drink itself was tasty - not too sweet, a staple of a good coffee place, but unique in its salt and clarified butter flavor. A quick scan of the pastry selection suggested that many of the same deliciousness found at the original location was also at the secondary location as well, including lemongrass and ube inspired pastries. I was very excited to see this place pop up in my area. I noticed that they've adjusted their hours from being only open on weekdays to being open on weekends and closed Monday and Tuesday. My first experience was at their flagship location downtown, and in all honesty, I was left unimpressed. But I did want to give it another shot, so there was no better opportunity than their new location nearby. It's located in a barely noticeable area off of Brittmoore that says "Quad" in large letters, which overwhelms the "koffeteria" signage. There's a decent amount of parking and more seating and space than in the original location. I was having breakfast at home, so I picked up a couple pastries, and both were great! I tried the sticky mango rice danish and the London fog roll. The mango was perfectly ripe and the soft texture was an interesting contrast to the chewy pastry. The London fog roll was drier than the mango, but not in a bad way. It had a lot of flavor from the earl grey sugar, and lovely citrus notes. Truly like a cup of tea in pastry form. I'm thrilled to have this addition in the area and can't wait to give them another shot to try their coffee! read more

I was in the area and decided to try out Lil'Koffeteria, Koffeteria's second location in Houston. They are an iconic Cambodian bakery known for having a weekly rotation of unique pastries. I ordered their French onion danish, guava rose cheese & danish, and the Tiger uppercut. The inside of this place is so nice and seems like a very studyable spot, but unfortunately they close very early. The French onion danish is a nice savory option. It is coveted in the melted cheese that French option soup is known for, and has a bunch of caramelized onions inside. The bread was a little tougher but overall this was pretty good. The guava rose & cheese danish however clearssss. This is a more sweeter option and was soo soo good. It has a guava jam in the middle and is surrounded by cream cheese and rose petals. Guava and cheese is such an underrated combination. They go so well together. The bread was flaky as well. I would definitely get this one again. I also got their tiger uppercut, which is Thai iced tea with espresso. It comes in a unique to go cup. I think I mixed it wrong because I only tasted Thai tea at first (which was good btw), and only tasted espresso near the end. I want to come back to try some of their other popular pastries whenever they're on rotation such as the mango sticky rice danish or the crab Rangoon one. We finally settled on: * Mango sticky rice danish: 4/5 - the mango sticky rice is perfectly coconut-y and the mango is generous, the pastry was a little tough. * Pho Kolache: 5/5 so good and unique * Banana bread mochi: 5/5 really good, lightly chewy with a great banana flavor * Taro, egg, and cheese taco: 5/5 really good and I like the taro sub for potatoes * Salty Cambodian: 4/5 - the salt is subtle and the espresso is smooth, it's not sweet * Tiger Uppercut: 4/5 - fun combo and is essentially a dirty Thai!
