The lamps are quite old and very collectible so I wanted to find a store in Honolulu that I felt would be able to handle a project like this with the care and attention to detail that I wanted. I decided to take them into Elegant based off another review that I had read. I was not disappointed. Mark and Vanessa were so nice and professional through out the entire experience. Mark walked me through what the different options were along with pricing. A few weeks later, my lamps were ready. To my surprise they also re-did the felt on the base of the lamp and included new light bulbs as a part of the service. My brother and I had a customized lamp that we thought for sure short circuited on us. We took it to Elegant lighting and patiently waited for the store associate, who was currently helping another customer, to help us. My condo has many quirks, one of which is the pendant lighting in the kitchen which is oddly spaced apart and the tiny bulbs are hard to reach. When the bulb flickered on one of them after nearly 11 years without a problem, I had an "uh oh" moment. But luckily, Lighting Elegance came to the rescue. I took the entire fixture including the socket down to the showroom, and Stacy fiddled with it a few times and figured out it wasn't the bulb but the wiring for the socket which was frayed. So two weeks later since I had not heard from the shop, I called to find out the status and learned the part was on order. Ironically, it came in the very next day. Stacy was extremely careful reloading the wiring and socket, and replacing the bulb which was from Japan. It was very hard to remove the old one, so I was thankful for Stacy's confident touch as I'm sure I would have broken it! Total cost: under $50! Since the shop is in my neighborhood, I know I can count on Lighting Elegance to replace the other kitchen lighting fixtures when they go wonky. Now I can actually see when cooking, haha. I moved to a new unit in a condo in kakaako and have been looking for these specific DMF lights for my living room and bedroom to match the ones that have been installed in my kitchen and hallway. After calling and checking about 4-5 places on the island, this place was the only one that had it. Another place and I have been going back and forth since October and they kept saying they will email the vendor and ask and I finally only got a response two weeks ago...in JANUARY. . And the price of course was much higher. Customer service is amazing especially working with Amanda. I called them on Monday asking if they had the DMF lights in stock still (I last checked in Oct and they had it then). They were really busy but took down my info. She called later that week to tell me they can order the lights for me but charge me shipping. She sent me the specs and I asked her to check on other items too so I can go and pick them up all at once. Then she called me on a Saturday even though the store was closed (only open M-F) and told me she dug around in their stock and actually found 3 remaining ones. So i won't need to place special order for these commercial lights! What's more she offered to meet up with me on this off day so I can actually pick her brain some more about the options that I have and she also offered advice and helped me decide what the best option is even though I might not end up buying from them. She said she had talked to the owner Mark and even he said if the lights come out half as much from Amazon, he'd just advice customers to order from there too. I learned so much from her already in my 30 mins or so with her and now know what to look for as I do my research to figure out what I need. I have purchased items from here before but I have not written a review. The odd thing is, this 5-star rating is strictly for their service I received last week. I have been looking for a specific LED replacement bulb and been having such a difficult time trying to find it. I've been to ACE and City Mill which both did not carry what I wanted. I went to another lighting specialty store and again, they did not carry it. But when I came here, the gentleman who approached me was very willing to help. He looked at the photo I had yet sadly told me that he does not carry such a bulb. But what he did do that the other establishments did not was ... he gave me two other businesses to try. This is how you provide "customer service". You listen to what they want/need and help them to attain it. Today I went to Lighting Elegance to look for a specialty bulb for a lamp. They did not have it. However, Amanda at the desk, suggested another store that might have it. But she did not stop there. She offered to call the store, which I gladly accepted. She called the other store, described the bulb, and the other store said they would check, and call her back. We waited and looked at a coupe of things, then the person called back. I went to the store and bought the bulb. Lighting Elegance got nothing from this effort (except good will). I really appreciated the lengths to which she went to serve her customer. This is what business should be like. It was almost like Santa Claus offering deals at Gimbels in "Miracle on 34th Street". It really made my day to be treated so well. I appreciate this store. Lighting Elegance helped me with another bulb that no one had, previously. They really know their business. It appears to not attract as much customer traffic as other stores with lighting options, however, it is a shining beacon for indoor and outdoor design opportunities.
