We showed him pictures of the electric outlets where we intend to put the light, and he confirmed the light we chose would work for those outlets. Very helpful. Dial Electric seems to be the place most electricians and electrical engineers recommend. While there are other places to get fans and lights, we decided to start at Dial when looking for ceiling fans. The showroom is most definitely geared towards contractors not everyday folk. There's a counter when you walk in with SAs on the left, and the showroom to the right. The showroom consists of 2 small rooms, the first fans and the second lighting. I'm not sure if what is on display is all they offer or whether you can also order via catalog. Nonetheless, what is on display seems limited. Prices are a bit high (approx $400-$900/fan and even higher for lighting) and I wasn't familiar with the different manufacturers so I don't know if the quality and prices were good or not. We did talk to a SA who was very nice but not that helpful in recommending ceiling fans. He didn't have an opinion but just stated facts. It seemed that you should know exactly what you want otherwise you're on your own. Since I'm not that knowledgeable about fans it would have been nice to get some guidance. Perhaps next time I need to bring our electrician. Parking is ample and adjacent to the crazy Marukai parking lot. I was happy to see lots of stalls since the general area is industrial and parking is a luxury. Ultimately we did not purchase anything from Dial. We just didn't see anything that suited us. I still haven't found a fan so, I might return in the future. read more

I came in looking for a switch for my Dad's 2 ceiking fans but they didn't have the part. I am giving them 5 stars because of the great customer service. They did write down 2 other places I would be able to find that part. I felt like they went the extra mile even though they didn't get a sale. This is a place where construction workers and electricians go for their parts and pieces. I walked around the store to see what the offered while the staff went to look for the part. If you need lighting fixtures they do have many different things to choose from, from garden lights to chandeliers. They even got outlet cover designs. Even though they may not have the extensive inventory as a home Depot or Lowe's, they have different specialty items that you can find as far as lighting fixtures. We have been customers and window-shopping customers of Dial for several years. It's hard to find nice custom-lighting in West Oahu, so Dial has always been our store. We are currently in the process of renovating our home's exterior and need nice outdoor lights. Internet and mail order is great, but the shipping costs are prohibitive, so we decided to check out local businesses like Dial (and also Aurora and City Mill today) without any luck. A lot of fixtures were indoor only and the outdoor fixtures were pretty limited. Customer service was pretty friendly and prompt though.... We didn't find what we wanted here but appreciated the ample parking and the prompt service. The selection was geared more for the indoor lighting crowd. read more

During several visits to Dial Electric over the course of 5 months to select a track lighting system, I was impressed with Kerri's Customer Service and knowledge received from the start to the final purchase decision. She would offer to print out the information and give you catalogs as reference materials. Because she made the whole experience comfortable, I ended up picking out several additional pieces. She even suggested that I take the item home to see if it would work out and if it didn't, just bring it back. That way, I would be sure of the light fixture selection. 01/19/15 I am completed to write an update for Dial Electric because of the outstanding service we received today!....We are renovating out house and needed to select interior lights for our ceiling, a light fixture for our guest bath, closet lights, dimmer light switches, exterior lights for our front patio and security lights. When we arrived Carri was helpful in showing us some of the fixtures available and giving us information on them. She took the time to explain to us the different kinds of lights (warm vs. cool) and answered a lot of our questions. Carri took the time to show us and explain the different kinds of dimmer switches and outdoor lighting. She also then directed us to Kyle...Kyle is professional, knowledgeable and certainly knows his product line. He made things really easy by showing us what we needed and explained why they were the best one to select. He also discussed the benefits of LED and answered my questions regarding fluorescent lighting. He know which type of light and fixture works best in various areas. We got into a discussion about smart homes and Kyle is well versed in that as well. He was able to give me information and when I asked about an under counter power ,strip he shared with me the latest find from a trade show. Dial is probably the best source for electrical products. They provide high grade commercial products as well as good quality for the home owner. I was able to make my list of what I need and Kyle promised to follow up on a couple of items for me...I look forward to finalizing the order! We are renovating our home and needed some light consulting. I had spent a long time going through all the options in the two largest depot stores - you know the ones, but they never had the quality I was looking for. Eventually, I was referred to David at Dial Electric and Lighting. He was very knowledgable and even came out to my house to inspect what our needs were. He went over the pros and cons of LED and that it would pay off over time and was the more 'energy efficient' way to go. He did provide us with 3 options with cost and quality in mind. We ended up going with the LEDs but we specifically wanted recessed lights that could install on a slanted ceiling (as well as other rooms). They helped me source a specific type of recessed lamp that angled with our ceilings. David and Kerri made the extra effort to see what we needed and made sure we were happy with the light plan they recommended. They then put us in touch with an electrical contractor, Force Electric. Glen came out to inspect our house with David's lighting plan and installed them over three days (they had to rough in a lot of wiring). They asked us how we wanted it and did the best they could considering the wiring runs weren't the easiest going through a lot of sqft of ceiling area 20' in the air. I think the value we got out of Dial Electric and Light and Force Electric was a great combination to get our job completed on time and budget. read more

Absolutely the worst experience ever. Well a situation like could be someone else's best if you like opening a box of what's supposed to be a new LED lighting fixture,only to find a surprise. When I opened mine up, it was missing all parts except the drive - even the cover lens wasn't there! There were no hassles returning the merchandise, but here's the kicker, the guy checked the computer when processing the credit and told me that another customer in the past returned the same merchandise for the same reason. In his immortal words, "might as well throw this light away". They tried to sell the same defective product 2x! Auwe! The clerk who sold the faulty product walked by as I'm waiting for my credit to be processed. All he asked was, "what's wrong?" So I told him. His reply was, "not even the cover?" What he should've done was apologize. A short "sorry for the inconvenience" would've sufficed. After about 10 steps from the front door to the warehouse entrance, the guy was gone. Poof. Luckily my money went back into my account and not disappeared. So if you're in the market to look for a new lighting fixture then I recommend someplace else. To be fair to these guys I've been here before without any problems but only for light bulbs. I guess they're good at doing small stuff right. read more

We went there this past week looking for lighting for our new home. When we arrived we were told that only 2 of our party could enter the showroom because of Covid which is understandable. So we waited, and waited while the salesperson showed another couple the various lights that they sell. Then another salesperson who was talking to what I think was a long standing customer told the guy to follow him in the showroom and he began to show him the different types of light fixtures that he was asking about. Whatever happened to the Covid restrictions and only two people in the showroom at a time. I guess it doesn't apply to their regular customers and only to new customers. My family felt like we didn't rate at all in the store and left. Their loss as we were looking at purchasing lighting that we estimated to cost about 3-5K. There's a lot of other companies on island that have very attractive lighting and I'd go there first and not even bother with Dial Electric as I really feel insulted by this incident. Been here a few times and bought many products over the years. Service is great when they are selling you something, but if you ever have a problem with defective merchandise, they will not return your calls, or they will keep promising to look into the problem and get back to you, but they never do. I have two defective light fixtures I purchased from Dial that are still under warranty, but I cannot get them to help me. After a month of unreturned emails and phone calls to Dial,I finally gave up and called the mainland manufacturer directly. Although the manufacturer said that they normally have customers go through Dial, they agreed to help me once they found out how much trouble I was having. I will definitely not be giving Dial any more business in the future. read more

I'm in a rental house with track lighting. The lights are rusted, and the type of track is so outdated that replacement fixtures must be special ordered. I visited Dial and immediately wanted to buy everything on display. The showroom is small, but the display items are really nice. David, one of the salesmen, was wonderful. He helped me choose from a catalog some replacements for my rusty lights. He kept asking me if I was sure I wanted to spend so much money on a rental. (I liked that.) Later that night, when I changed my mind on what I wanted, he redid the order -- a lot of work, actually -- and coordinated with the supplier to get some of my questions answered. Terrific service. Finally, I did some comparison shopping, and the price I paid was the same as if I had ordered on-line. The lights are up now, and I am a happy camper. After a 4year search, we were finally found a crystal chandelier for one of our homes. Wanted to replace some CFL bulbs in two bathroom ceiling lights purchased from Dial a few years ago. The current bulbs were replacements purchased from Dial a few months back but the constant flickering when turned on was very annoying. Called ahead, and Sean said they shouldn't flicker and to bring them with me. Upon arrival I explained what I needed and Sean actually greeted me from around the corner, then went back to his desk. ?????? What???!!! I explained to man #2 that the original Panasonic bulbs were always instant on - did not flicker, and he recommended a different brand. He then proceeded to tell me that when CFL's are old and the gasses are used up, they stop flickering when turned on. (The original bulbs that came with the lights never flickered.) I told him that explanation didn't hold water because the original Panasonic bulbs that came with the lights never flickered. At that point I knew they would make-up and say anything for the sale -- Don't know which salesman was truthful -- if either! But completely lost respect for them. And then -- the Sylvannia bulb he recommended today flickers worse than the Phillips brand they sold us last year! :( read more

They are nice to home owners who has nice cloth. They look you down if you are the contractor. They told me "Don't touch. What do you need?" Comment by a sales guy in show room today. Every time I visit this place, they are chip on the shoulder. Look me down. Even skinny lady. Put me down, if she find out I am the business owner/contractor. Yesterday, I emailed a summary of some electrical items I needed to a Sales Associate at this company. I called back today to schedule an appointment to come in. I was transferred to the same Sales Associate who when asked about my email said "Oh ya, its on my list". I understand everyone is busy, so I asked if we could set up a time to come in. I explained that we were interested in some of the new LED options in recessed lighting. He began lecturing me on why what I wanted was not available (or on the market). I am a developer and well aware of what is available. He cut me off and said "I don't have time to meet with you". This is the worst service I think I've ever received. I had ordered a whole houseful of lights from Dial when I remodeled my home and had a very good experience with them. So when one of my blown glass pendant lights (I have 8 identical lights in a row) broke 9 years later I went back to Dial to replace it, and replace another specialized fixture as well. I guess because I only wanted a couple of hundred dollars worth of lights it was just not a priority for them. I brought in a large piece of the broken light as well as multiple photos of the other identical lights. The guy told me the brand and said he didn't think they made it anymore and that I probably would be unable to match it, but he gave me the manufacturers catalog to look through to find my light and his business card with his email on it and then he vanished. I found the closest match, which was really no match at all,(color-wrong; size-smaller) and went home with the catalog. The salesman never answered my emails. I finally called and he eventually returned my call and said he'd been busy. I put it off and finally decided to bite the bullet and order the pendant and hope for the best (the alternative was to replace all 8 lights). After being unable to reach the salesman I gave up and went to another lighting store where, Eureka!! within 2 minutes they found my exact light in a DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS CATALOG. I won't go back to Dial again and I gave them two stars because of my first experience. Don't know if the problem was the salesman or the fact that I had a manini order compared to all the contractors who are in and out of there, but I think it was a combination. He really didn't care if I got my light or not. read more

Few days ago, I was at Home Depot looking for some small Philips LED light bulbs but they did not have. At their Customer Service Counter, the staff said she could not order for me online either. Then a gentleman whom I don't know waiting in line behind me told me to go to Dial Electric and look for Kerri. He said she is the best. He even showed me the address and phone number on his cellphone! When I called, I talked to Kerri and she told me patiently the way to get there. When I got to the store, Kerri greeted us with a smile. She was so professional and patient with such kind attitude that even though they didn't have the item I was looking for, she was so willing to help to find it for me. She took down my name and phone number and said she would call me. Sure enough, she called 2 days later telling me that she has contacted some people and it seemed that item is no longer in production. That is how nice and reliable Kerri is.
