We recently renovated my kitchen and replace doors in my house. I worked with JBL in ordering doorhandles and drawer pulls. Andrew was able to help me find just the right style of door handles. He also help me detail all the things you need to know in ordering hardware for doors including "Which hand", hinges, tracks, pools, doorstops, etc. Noland was wonderful in helping me order all the drawer pulls for my cabinets and when I needed to expedite a front door handle, he miraculously made it happen overnight. I don't recommend rushing things, but in this case he was a lifesaver. The best part about all of this is not only do you have excellent products, but excellent courteous service. People at JBL Hawaii are truly great professionals!!!! I was looking for a special hardware for the door of a unit. Which Home Depot and Lowe's don't carry. I called them and spoke to Keola, super helpful, kind and knowledgeable representative! After ordering the right part, upon arrival the part fits the door frame perfectly, however; it doesn't lock in place. I went back and told Keola, while explaining, Mr. Dewy the lock and key supervisor overheard my situation. He allowed Sean the door specialist, another great professional to help assist me by meeting with me at the unit the next day. He came and worked on the door, and the end result was amazing! He didn't just fixed the problem, but made everything perfect like new!!!! Unbelievable!!!!! JBL Hawaii, an awesome company with super professionals at work! I needed a handset and 5" latch for my 70s downtown condo. Not knowing any better I looked at Home Depot first, but they sent me to JBL. This is apparently the pro place where contractors and locksmiths go. I found them extremely helpful by email, then I came in and knew exactly what I needed. Thanks to Dannard for spotting my confused and frustrated expression and coming to my rescue! My condo is on the older side, and therefore Lowe's and Home Depot do not carry the size lock for my door knob. My knobs aren't the standard size, boooo. Thus I was referred to JBL! I walked in not really knowing what I could do and Dannard came to assist. I told him what I wanted and he showed me the items available and what I could work with. He took down my contact information and said he would contact me when he came up with the estimate for the items I requested. The following evening I got the email. Thanks for all your help! Went here to buy a longer lever, 5 inch for new door knob on our door. Lowes, City Mill, and Home Depot didn't have. They only had the standard size so they recommended I go to JBL. Apparently my current door is ancient, haha. It looks like a warehouse, so keep your eyes peeled for the sign. Inside is not like Lowes or City Mill where you can just grab what you want. You have to look at what you want, then talk to a representative at a desk (or at the station of what you need), and then make your purchase. They pretty much had all kinds of door locks and handles, I got what I needed. Sales person was knowledgeable, but very impersonal. I'd actually rate it 3.5 stars if I could. read more

Went to JBL to look for tracks for by-pass doors. No selection, just an expensive brass type. Very helpful salesperson and nice showroom. Ended up not using the tracks. When I tried to return them; DENIED. I missed the part about their 30-day return limit policy. There was nothing in the invoice copy and I didn't see a sign. Nice place but just know about the 30-day limit if you might have to return your purchase. Missed it by a week! Now I'm out $215 with no other use for them. -_- read more

We went to go pick up a new lock, handle and key because our lock and handle on the security door to our home, kind of got stuck and broke. We picked up locks from them before, so I knew what I was looking for. Great Price and a great associate that assisted us! He answered all of my questions thoroughly and was really really nice! I wish I could have remembered his name... We were in and out in 15 minutes and was happy to get home and change out the broken one! I will continue to do business with JBL. These guys are AWESOME!! I have a very old mortise lock on my front door that needed some repairs/troubleshooting. I brought it in one morning and they dedicated practically their whole morning to helping me fix my lock! This is the rudest place I have ever been. Go direct to manufacturers you will get more help. The man with ponytail was a witch (with a b), literally rolled his eyes at us when he was talking to us. Then just threw the lock at us on the table and said this is what we need. Acted like we were wasting his time. "Excuse me I am trying to buy something from your company instead of online. Trying to buy local. ". Never said thank or anything. So when we got it home realized it wasn't even close to what we wanted so went back and returned it. Got the same treatment as before. JBL has some major employee morale problems. They have terrible customer service. Not one smile or "can I help you?" I would give them a minus 5 if I could. Very sad i would like to buy local but i get a nicer attidtude from the pop-up person on the internet. Haha! read more

Looked all over the mainland for the product I needed! Had several sent and had to return them because they didn't work. Who'd have guessed... right here in our own state at JBL was the item I needed?! ...a locking system for a sliding door system made from two wood framed french doors. Yeah, a bit odd. It worked well until a visitor just muscled it open and broke it! So, now... exactly one year to the day, I have to order another... although it's not in the online catalog. I'll have to call Monday and hopefully describe it! (couldn't find receipt; no name on lock). read more

Couldn't find what I wanted at any of the home stores, so went here based on a recommendation from a contractor. Wanted five sets of hinges and door stops to match our antique brass door handles in our house. Took time to drive here through lousy traffic. Walk in and take a left to the showroom that looks more impressive in the pictures here than it is in person - part was empty as I guess they were renovating it. When I came in a lady who was emptying out the cash register an hour before closing ignored me. No one approached me in the showroom - there were a bunch of guys sitting at desks in the entry area past the cash register talking to each other. I go back in by the lady still emptying the register and ask for help. One guy comes over (Kendall? Kerrick? Derrick?) and I explain what I need. He looks at me like I'm crazy and asks a bunch of questions, then brings over two door stops not in the color I asked for. I show him my Stanley Hardware printouts from online and explain some more, as he obviously has no clue that anything other than the two color finishes he had in the store are made for hinges and door stops. Uh oh - you mean I know more than the professional hardware guy? He even takes my printouts and makes copies of them, I guess as he wouldn't know how to find them otherwise? He says he'll send me a quote. Oh good, so I drove here for you to act confused, not know what you sell or can get, make copies of my printouts as you don't know anything about hardware beyond what's in front of your face, and I'm supposed to drive away through lousy traffic so you can research it and send me a quote? So now it's been two weeks and no quote. I'm sure he's busy chatting with his fellow desk mates in the corner beyond the cash register. Hopefully his chair is comfy. Oh, and I got everything I needed online at HardwareAndTools.com. I tried Amazon but the items came outside their packages and were damaged. So JBL was a waste of time and gas, neither of which I have in unlimited supply. read more

I had a non-standard Falcon lock tumbler that a locksmith had to drill through. Neither Home Depot nor Lowe's had a replacement tumbler. Not desiring to replace the entire mortise lock system (expensive!) I took the damaged piece to JBL. I was out the door 20 minutes with a $20 part they pulled out of a bin that matched my old locking mechanism perfectly. Awesome experience. Only reason I'm giving four stars is that they're bad at answering email. Great in-person experience! read more
