Ambience was nice when we arrived. The tables and booths were dirty and seemed liked the waiters were just lounging around. We had to reorder twice as they messed up our order (even though we're the only customers). Food was alright I recommend the nachos if anything. I think the food was good compared to the chefs attitude. The pasta was watered down so we sent it back and the waiter made a face. Looked like cooked pasta with watery tomato sauce and chefs just complained from the window. It was a decent experience at the end and they tried to be nice towards the end. If I am remembering a boat's steering wheel in the place, and one does not exist, then I am just imagining the place as it should be based on what it is trying to be. I went there for breakfast. In fact, I thought it was only a breakfast place. But it is a lunch and dinner place too. I had the country skillet. It is easy for me to love biscuits with gravy, and strawberry jam with some type of meat a top. The lighthouse offered a solid country skillet. I happily enjoyed it, and I would love to get it again. This place has been around forever, but recently changed ownership a few years ago. The menu is slightly more Mexican-oriented since the ownership change, but for the most part the food is delicious. The only thing consistently lacking is the coffee cake, which is flavorless. But other items like the Benedict, and other breakfast standards are quite good. Fair warning, the service is very hit and miss. Getting your coffee refilled is next to impossible, and twice I've ordered items that have been missing when the food came out. Have been here several times and never reviewed. Brought my mom and son to see the new renovations and grab a bite. We split the sunken city and a garden salad. The sandwich was delicious. The meat was so thick that i was super glad we shared. The horseradish added a nice kick to the sandwich. Their onion rings were freaking amazing!!! Super crunchy and the onion was not all chewy. My son had the california cheeseburger (which i did not take a pic of) which was a nice thick full patty that was bigger than the bun. It was perfectly cooked and super tasty. Super chill place with plenty of food options for everybody. They also have a very nice drink menu. I had a spritz with my meal and it hit the spot. The reason i didnt give it 5 stars because the service. We were first seated by one waitress who brought us our menus and took our drink orders. We flagged her down when we were ready to order and she said ok but never came over. We still saw her walking around and i was trying to get her attention but to no avail. It turns out she wasn't our waitress because our real waitress came over and brought our drinks and took our food oder. She was very attentive and gave great service. I met some friends here a few days ago, 12/18/24, for lunch. We experienced excellent service and we all agreed the food was great. I had the 2 fish tacos, which came with a small salad, refried beans, and some yellow rice. Those tacos were great, and I'm thinking about going back there in a day or so to order the same entree. My friends were quite satisfied with their orders as well, but they won't be back here for a while. They live in Laguna Beach, so the convenience factor isn't there, but I'm just a few blocks away. This little place changed ownership a few years ago and the new management has made excellent renovations. It's just off S. Pacific and they have several tables outside on the sidewalk and it's just far enough up from S. Pacific to avoid any disturbance from traffic noise. read more

We ordered fish tacos and the lobster omlette. The omlette had only a few pieces of lobster but the fish tacos tasted and smelled fishy. We ate the tacos because we were hungry and didn't feel like waiting for another order of something else. The last bite of the fish taco was so fishy I had to spit it out. When the manager came by with the bill, I told him about the fishy tacos and asked if he could adjust our bill. He said he could not because we ate the tacos. We paid the bill and on our drive home we noticed how fishy our hands and faces smelled so we called and asked to speak with the manager. He told us that the cook said the fish was fine and that he isn't going to adjust our bill. We asked to have the owner call us back. The manager called back and offered a 20 percent discount, which we felt was inadequate, so we asked to speak with the owner directly. The owner never called us back. I have been coming here for 30 years and this is the first time I have ever encountered bad food, but it was the refusal of the manager to resolve the situation that prompted me to write this review read more

The food wasn't good which i know is something the waiters cant control. However, the service was terrible ! they rushed us after we asked for some time to look over the menu! It wasn't very busy and i overheard the also didnt serve the next table well either. They 'refill' your FIVE dollar drinks with a tiny little cup of soda so they don't change out your ice and it's just a mess and unappetizing. The waiters were not friendly at all! So I have been here a few times recently and all for breakfast. While the prices are a tad high for breakfast I will say their breakfast is top notch! Fast service and everything executed to perfection. Absolutely 5 stars for breakfast. French toast is excellent and hash browns perfection! Coffee quite good and service has been great. So why only 3 stars? Well we can here for cinco de Mayo and literally had the worst meal eating out in recent memory of forever. Ordered the special which turned out to be a pricey and awful mistake. Started with pesole which was quite good. It went off the cliff from there. Cheese enchiladas lacked cheese and all around flavor and were undercooked. How hard is a cheese enchilada? Rice; total undercooked and under seasoned like the rest of the food. Refried beans might have been from a can but a can might have been better! Chile relleno tasted like a puffy breaded frozen one. The plate lacked flavor and doneness across the board. 66% of the food was left behind and not taken with us. We also order their chili fries which was either over spicey Turkey chili or chili beans. Why even have it on the menu. Well I went with the Turkey chile version and the only thing it delivered was spice but not a good tasting one! Left 75% of that behind. I will say they were willing to replace these items but I don't really do that and by then I had lost my appetite. They might have some other items that are fine but these were not it. They need to remove chili fries from their menu and never try a Mexican special again. The the following cost me $63 after a 20% tip: Root beer Cinco de Mayo special Chile fries That's it. Best breakfast around but that was the worst meal we've ever had. Will be back for breakfast but never anything after high noon! read more

Hello My wife and I had breakfast here for the first time . We have lived in San pedro for 3 years . We both give the food a solid 7.5 out of 10 . I ordered the eggs Benedict and she ordered the light house breakfast Food was good overall . I also ordered a cup of coffee Got one refill Coffee was mediocre at best My bill came out to 52.87 Plus I gave a 15 percent tip / 8 dollar tip ( hopefully the cook gets some of that ) Total bill 60 bucks I was charged 850 for a cup of coffee with a refill . I'm not wealthy I can't afford to eat at place like this so for this reason I'm not going back again . Thank you and GOD BLESS it Update I went back to lighthouse cafe and I got my refund for 1 coffee Now, my issue I still have is with the double tipping. They charge me on my bill for the tip (see receipt below) when I paid the bill with my debit card and it asked me how much I want to tip and I gave a 20%. I will give an update after I see my bank statement. A bit of b/s for breakfast / noting That most tips always reflect a few days later If another tips comes out in a few days then I paid a total of 14 dollar tip . I will update accordingly I hope the manager was right when she explained to me that only 1 tip was applied . FYI I never do this ever first time writing a review . Maybe don't come on a Sunday... Our entire order (Crunchy French Toast/Burger well done/Coffee) was wrong. Although our area of tables was pretty empty we waited over 10 minutes to even be acknowledged. When another couple came out they were immediately asked if they wanted a drink (diff waitress) so it felt kinda meh. Our $4 "hot" coffee, was cold and came out maybe 10 minutes after our order was taken. I asked for a stirrer or spoon and never got one. We didn't even drink our coffee. When our food was finally here I bit into a raw burger (I can't eat raw/"undercooked" meat right now) Luckily my partner likes his meat more red so he was able to eat it. My partner ordered their Crunchy french toast and was served FT and not the "special" toast they serve, so it had to be redone. When we called another waitress over about the burger (our waitress was nowhere to be found) she comped the burger and I ordered something different BLTA which was pretty good. I'm not sure if we just have bad luck but everyone else's waiters seemed really nice and attentive. I'll give this place another try, the 3 stars are for the onion rings alone and had the service been great it would've gotten a higher rating. BEST ONION RINGS EVER. Food was great! So was the ambiance. Street parking available down the street. It's not a huge location but we went on a weekday so it was quiet. Not sure how busy it might get on the weekend. I remember checking in with a photo of my BLTA with curly fries but it be gone! Oh well. So essentially I ordered the BLTA sans mayo. It was delicious but sort of dry (my fault no mayo) but dang the curly fries were good. All my friends enjoyed their meals but I didn't try any so can't say for sure. They let us chill which was nice but they have the whole front open to outdoor seating. Makes for nice ambiance but we were literally dodging flies like crazy at the end. Came here with my husband recently. He had been there many years ago but this was my first time. I ordered the fish tacos & a side of rice. My husband ordered a spicy chicken sandwich. The fish was grilled. I was expecting beer battered. So I think it would be helpful to specify on the menu. The fish was okay. The taco itself was impossible to hold. Even with me ordering the coleslaw on the side, the taco was overloaded, the tortilla fell apart, & it just felt like a soggy mess. The rice was good in regards to flavor, but was undercooked and hard. My husband's spicy chicken sandwich was a similar situation. Hard to hold, soggy, too much sauce, etc. I wish I remembered our waitresses name. She was absolutely lovely! A young girl with light skin and brown hair. Pretty smile, very friendly, attentive. The rest of the staff was fine. Checked on us a few times. Ambiance: Absolutely beautiful in my opinion. Very "put together". Everything is cohesive & the open windows with a street view makes everything feel open & fresh. You get that sea breeze too which keeps the temperature nice and cool. I don't know if they were having an off day or if it's always this way since I've only been here once but it's unlikely that I will return. Unless its to drink. Our first time trying this place and We are not disappointed at all. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and the place is very nice and clean. We will definitely be coming more often. I was a little surprised that they aren't allowed to serve alcohol until 10 a.m. I always try a Bloody Mary at every new restaurant I go simply to find the perfect one. I was disappointed that they don't do their own mix, I saw them open a brand new bottle of bloody marry mix and just served over ice with a shot of vodka. Decent food and service, but the parking can be a little tough. Even though they have their own parking lot, the customers from the next door restaurant are taking up all the parking. Even with the posted signs and the possibility of getting towed, they still park there. Why post signs if you're not going to enforce them. We've tried to eat here before, but there was no parking. Street parking is taken up by residents and/or employees of either restaurant. The restaurant is clean, both indoor and outdoor dining areas. But we often have to eat elsewhere due to the lack of available parking. read more

The Lighthouse's menu and interior/exterior upgrades are fabulous. If you liked the "old" Lighthouse's food and ambiance you're gonna be very pleased with the changes! First, let's start with the interior and exterior changes; they are obvious and outstanding!! The old Lighthouse was a primary colored, great luncheonette for moms and their kids to go to for great breakfast's and lunch's. Always a welcoming children's menu and a great ship shape toy chest to keep kids busy while moms' chatted. The toy chest is gone the ambiance more mature. The updated Lighthouse is chic the outside front wall has been torn down. The inside's part of the outside of with tropical looking umbrella tables and many of them. No more waiting for seating. The service is wonderful and that makes them all Pretty Special! The food was amazing! My good friend in tow. She had never been to the Lighthouse!
