MY FAVORITE COFFEE SHOP EVER!!! firstly, the staff is SO nice. one of the managers, naba, is such a sweetheart & i love seeing her whenever i come in! the spiced chai latte with oat milk is my absolute favorite drink, the oat milk they use is so creamy & makes every drink even better! their valley toffee coffee is also great!!!! other than drinks, their sandwiches are BOMB. there's one with pear, arugula, turkey, and raspberry jam--AMAZING. check this place out, you won't be disappointed! read more

I was super excited to try this place because of all the high ratings but the service here needs so much more work. I ordered online at home (about 15 minute drive to the shop) and when I arrived I checked with the cashier which took her about 5-10 minutes for her to even check up on us and she looked like she was just wandering around trying not to attend to us and the line behind us. Then after checking on it they told me they didn't have it and they explained the order doesn't go straight to their ordering system and was at their register.. understandable. I also understood there may be a wait because they didn't see the order but waiting 30 minutes for an order is a bit excessive. They also don't seem to try to help you because after receiving my sandwich they just dropped it and left. The 1 star is only for the food because the sandwich was actually good but service is trash and drinks are "ok". Try gladly coffee or a regular Starbucks. .. read more

As a avid coffee critic, I understand that the barista makes or breaks the taste of your coffee, the bean as a whole was flavorful, and quality, however, the barista let my shots expire before mixing with milk which through off my coffee. Secondly, I was unimpressed with the non English speaking worker at the register. I was given a 2/5 star service, however I see the potential with this beautiful, quiet establishment. I absolutely loved the drinks here and the light bulb bottle is super cute. I really liked their lavender latte, the lavender flavor is strong but pleasant and not overwhelming. The coffee flavor also comes through and is quite strong. The drink overall is very creamy and rather thick and the flavors are well balanced. Their avocado smoothie is great as well, very thick and perfectly sweetened with great flavor. Definitely recommend! read more

Wow simply star struck with the Cali pistachio drink they made. It may sound dumb but it taste like an Ice-cream pistachio and it's amazing! And the art work they do is very warm and welcoming! It was our second visit to Lightbulb Coffee. We continuously try to support local businesses. However, both experiences have been far below expectations. The most recent visit I ordered a plain latte. When my order was ready, she called it out as a mocha latte. I told her that I ordered a plain latte and she responded..."Yeah...it's a mocha latte," as if those were the same thing. I didn't want to make a big deal so I took the drink and left. It was so sickly sweet and unenjoyable. Such an expensive disappointment! The customer service has also been extremely lackluster...almost as if they don't really care that you are there at all. Such a bummer. The good news is that there are other outstanding coffee choices in La Mesa, Public Square being the best. It's just unfortunate that this place doesn't offer anything special to the community. read more

Lightbulb Coffee has plenty of space to sit, browse the net and enjoy a lazy afternoon. The coffee is moderately priced and has great flavor. I try to avoid Starbucks, not for any political reasons, and not because I'm too good to patronize the place, I just prefer to shop local when I can. Lightbulb opened last year and I've driven by more than a few times, but never stopped in. I did today and I was not disappointed. So, I have a new option. I love downtown La Mesa, and this place is within walking distance too. I like the artwork on the walls, I really love the Edison bulbs that light the place.
