Silver is definitely one of the best employees at this gym. He has been so extremely helpful anytime I need anything and always has the most welcoming smile when you walk in! Life Time Garland is amazing! They have everything you can think of at this location. From the equipment to the pool, there is a vast amount of things to do here. You can swim, run, use the machines (pretty clean compared to most gyms), or even take classes. Speaking of classes, they have the BEST instructors in Garland. I've been to a few other Life Times and I've got to say, Garland has the top-notch professionals located there. Abrea, Mark, Jasmine, Miranda, and Chris are just a handful of instructors who showcase the best of their abilities every time. Buyer beware! They will tell you that you can cancel or suspend your membership at any time if you lose your job, but when you try to do that, you suddenly can't speak with anyone there (the same place you signed up) and are then told you have to pay the balance of the contract. So they WILL tell you anything to get you to sign up, but then it changes if you have a money issue. And to make it even worse, they actually immediately charged me a higher than normal charge after I tried to cancel. So I got charged twice that month. This was right after I told them I was having money issues. read more

I've been a member here several times since 2006. My current membership began last November. I signed up for a loyalty plan, which is basically a one year contract that saved me $10 a month. My membership is still over $70. During the past year I've made good use of the weight room and the cafe. Cafe staff was great for awhile. Recently they've not been too personable. Here's why I gave two stars: it's the sales staff; the folks who sign you up or make requested changes to your membership. I have had a bad experience from start to finish with these people. They're interested in sales (no surprise), and treated me like a number not a valued client. When I decided to join again last year, I was promised one fee via email and told that couldn't be honored when I came in to sign up. I didn't. They could have had me as a member right then by just keeping their promises. Several months went by & I returned to join. About midway through my membership I decided to upgrade to Diamond, which offers two perks: an assigned locker & reserved parking. It was difficult to get the sales staff to help me with this, and once it was done Lifetime didn't keep their promises here either. There are not always enough reserve parking spots, and I had to fight to get the locker I was promised. The pièces de resistance though just occurred & is the reason for this long review. I received an email from Lifetime letting me know my loyalty membership was ending & I'd be momth to month starting November 1st. I emailed back stating I'd like October to be my last month to correspond with the end of my deal. The staff person indicated all I neede to do was come in and sign something to make it official. I tried to do do today. No one came out to help me. I was directed to a sales office. The salesman refused to let me cancel. He stated I had to come in on November 1 to do so. I referenced the email. He said I'd have to email that person again. I asked for a manager. He said he was the sales manager. I went back to the front and asked for the general manager. Lo and behold one of the guys at the front desk, who has always been personable and helpful got it done. So, Lifetime's fine if you want to pay over $70 per month & have patience to deal with the officious administration & discourteous salespeople. read more

This is a relatively new and well maintained facility. The equipment is in good working order and spaced out in an orderly manner. There is plenty of equipment and even during peak times it is not too crowded. They must spend alot of time cleaning because it is always clean without fingerprints on any of the glass. They always have clean towels available, and the staff is pleasant. read more

I was recommended to go Jessica at Life Time and I'm so happy I did because she did such an amazing job. I will be coming back to get another one. BEWARE OF GARLAND LIFETIME FITNESS. We have been members since 2006. We've spent 100s of 1000s of dollars with Lifetime for enjoyment and health of our 5 person family. In 2014, I paid for a 3 month membership for our Nanny so that she could take the kids to the gym over the summer. from September 2014 until now, Nov. 1, 2015 they continued to bill me for this "3" month membership. I have canceled it, I have closed my credit card they are now billing my new one. I have repeatedly called, I have formally requested meetings for someone to call me back or meet with me. AND THEY ARE STILL BILLING ME. Lifetime Fitness business practices are Deplorable, and Unethical. Thank god they are building a new gym miles from my house so that be done with them. IF I CAN EVER CANCEL OUR FAMILY MEMBERSHIP. read more

This gym charged me $12.99 for four months when they were supposed to cancel my membership. I signed the cancellation papers and they charged me the "freeze" fee anyways. I had to change my bank account to keep them from stealing from me. The manager Jeff Mangam did not offer to return the funds on our phone conversation about this. I'm sad to say that I would not recommend such a nice gym because of something like this. It's a shame that it is hard to find gyms with honesty and integrity. read more

I've been a member of this gym for several years and was happy until I realized how SHADY they are with the billing. First, did you know that part of your monthly dues go to a magazine called "Experience Life" which you are automatically subscribed to? Yeah, me neither. After throwing these things away for a few years I finally found out they were from Lifetime, and that I've been paying for them on my gold membership all this time without my knowledge. I've asked them repeatedly to unsubscribe me, both in person and via email. I've been assured repeatedly this has been taken care of, but here they are, every month. I also started noticing some shady charges on my card over the last few months from LT. Weird charges on random dates for random amounts. I have emailed the manager Betsy about this, along with their billing dept and gotten absolutely NO response. My fiance and I have both talked to several of their sales reps in person, yet it seems every few weeks some unexplainable new charge is put onto my card. When you come in as a potential member they treat you like gold. But beware once you've signed up. I had a really high opinion of this place until they started abusing my card and insulting my intelligence. read more

First of all, I LOVE this gym! It is pricey but worth it. It's like a country club. I currently pay $87 a month for me and my son. It's $67 for me and $20 for my son. The classes are awesome!! I needed a gym with classes early enough in the day to get my toddler home at a decent hour. I love it. I also get my hair colored there too! You can use the childcare while you're at the salon. A big plus!! I just love Betsy Paxton. She's the one that signed us up. If you're thinking about joining ask for her. The yoga is awesome too! So relaxing! I've participated in swimming lessons for my 21 month old. They were great! Bottom line- I'm super glad I work out here! read more

Just not worth the price. I was going to life time for a while and it was ok, nothing special really. The trainers bug you and their rates are ridiculous. When you want to leave and go somewhere else, you will still be billed. When it comes down to it, there are plenty of gyms that are 10 or 15 a month with no contract, you'll get just the same out of it. I still get emails from them asking me to come back. I've been a member of LTF Garland for over 10 years. Top notch, certified instructors that push you in a healthy way, clean facility, constant update of fitness equipment, quiet and peaceful yoga room, beautiful and well kept locker room with towels, soap in showers and hair dryers, indoor lap pool and family area, amazing hot tub type spa, dry sauna, outdoor lap pool with family pool, and the healthiest and most delicious food and shakes made in their cafe. I've even used the spa many times for a haircut and style . Thankful for this gym. And even though I've moved into Rockwall...I will continue to be a faithful member. :) read more

I've been a member here for about a month now and have to admit, I'm impressed. As somewhat of a self-proclaimed "gym-rat" I was frustrated with my previous gym - equipment was often out of order or not working properly for weeks (if not months!) at a time, the staff didn't really seem to care beyond getting new-members in the door, location was overcrowded, and the gym itself was just generally dirty... I decided to try out LifeTime as I have heard good things and it really does live up to the "hype". I can't compare to other locations, but this Garland location is huge and easily dwarfs any other gym I've been to. There are 3 pools (one outdoor), a indoor rock-climbing wall, yoga/pilates studios, racquetball courts, a salon, sauna and steam rooms, huge cardio area - you name it, it's there. With a complex this size I have been thoroughly impressed with the level of cleanliness here. Even on a busy Saturday afternoon the locker rooms are relatively tidy, clean towels are readily available, and there is not trash all over the floor of the cardio area. Either they're doing a good job of keeping up with things or they hide it well! The cardio equipment is great. There are a wide number of options available (they have about 5 different styles of ellipticals alone!) and there has yet to be a time when I haven't been able to get the machine I wanted. The machines themselves appear to be well maintained (i.e. buttons all work, no strange grinding noises) and people seem to do a good job about wiping them down when they are done (it does help that cleaning wipes are conveniently located throughout!). There are two areas available for stretching, abs, and light free weights with all sorts of kettle/medicine balls, stability balls, resistance bands, and mats for use. I can't comment too much on the free weight area other than that weights are restacked well so you're not spending time looking for what you need. There are also a large number of classes available (included with membership) and they even offer a fair number on the weekends as well. The few that I've taken thus far have been great - classes start on time and the instructors are energetic and friendly. Overall, the staff generally seems to be a bit more engaged than I see at other gyms and are quick to say "hello" or offer help when needed. Even the sales people I worked with weren't pushy at all which was a nice surprise. The only real downside to Lifetime is of course the price. I'm not going to lie, it is a considerable amount more than your typical 24 Hour or LA Fitness but you really are getting quite a bit more for your money. If you're just looking for a place to do straight lifting or some sort of basic routine, it may not be worth the additional cost, however if you're planning on taking advantage of the classes, pools, and any of other amenities/services, I would easily recommend checking out LifeTime. read more

I mentioned in my past review that I don't like the gym before 10 PM, and that's partially true - I don't really like the gym floor during peak times, but I love the yoga classes provided. I've gone to every type of yoga class and all the instructors are fabulous. The employees are very sweet (management, front desk, personal trainers, everyone) and I feel very welcome and motivated at Life Time. Absolutely terrible. I'm a multi-club member, I travel frequently for business and the first thing I do when I go to a new area is see if there is a lifetime fitness near by. I am staying in Rockwall this week, so the closest Lifetime is this location, in Garland. This is far and away the worst lifetime I've been too. First and most importantly, it's absolutely (over) packed, all you do is wait for equipment. For example, there's not enough squat racks, there's actually only two full free weight squat racks...wtf is that about, my home (Lifetime) gym has 8. Lifetime needs to either raise their prices at this location (sounds weird, I know), or stop taking new members... This is not what I expect out of a gym that costs 70+ per month. The next time I travel for this client, or into this area, I will not be going to this Lifetime. read more

This gym is definitely on the high-end cost wise. And, once you stepped in you will know why. They've a lot of equipment, cafe, swimming pool, basketball court, yoga studio, and group training classes just to name a few. I'll caution you to be super careful when they offer to sign you up for anything, and I mean ANYTHING. Read the fine print and reread it...because that's how they make their money. And they will try to rush you when you start reading the fine print. Don't mind them, read it because it'll make you either change your mind or at least know what you're getting yourself into. If you want to go there because it's nice and clean and just to use the gym, I'll say maybe go for it with (a little hesitant though). For anything else, do not sign up, or better still do month to month. The staff chooses when they want to be responsive. If they know you've your facts in order and one of their staff members gave you incomplete or flat out wrong information, good luck getting any responses to your phone calls or emails. Customer Service and employees giving accurate information even if that means not getting that one customer is a deal breaker for me, and this particular Lifetime Fitness do not hold their teammates accountable for giving out incorrect information. read more

I love this gym its the best gym I have ever been too and I have been to them all !!! I have been a member since 2007 and just recently they keep increasing my monthly dues by $2 no explanation no extras just bam more money from me and nothing in return. They have probably made this increase to the tune of $10 so far who knows next month they will probably increase my dues again. I mean really I have been loyal to this club for the past 8 years and this is how they treat their loyal members? I've been a member of this club for a few years now, though I barely use the club I enjoy it when I do. My issue is not the facility itself, it's with their management. For the past 3 years, my daughter would come home for the summer break and join under the "student summer rate". Only this time, instead of the student rate, they added her to my account and started charging me $40 a month for her being added. A lot more than the student summer rate. When I called asking for credit on the difference, they went out of their way explaining company policies with as to why they can't credit my account and why I have to come in to cancel her and wait 30 days for it to be on effect. Another words pay another month when my daughter has been long gone back to college. So, rather than losing one member, they ended up losing 3 members. All because of greed not to credit what they Over charged me. I called the manager Corey to at least let him know why he's losing 3 members but this guy won't even return my call. I asked for their corporate number, the girl who answered the phone put me on hold for 3 minutes then came back to tell me that I can only get the number through the manager, who by the way won't pick up the phone to call me back. Being the most expensive gym in the area you would expect better customer service... not here. Facility is nice, people that are running it SuCKS! And it starts with their Manager Corey. read more

I came to this gym with my brother ( who is a member with the club). He has been telling me about how great this place is. Thus, first time in Texas, first time at Lifetime Fitness. Overall impression: This is abolutely one of the best gym I've been to. This place is absolutely humonguous. No one has to wait for any equipment. No overcrowding here and they really kept it clean here. Best of all, all the accomodations are under one roof, three pools, indoor rock climbing wall, sauna, etc. All the top of line equipment. In anycase, I had a good workout this morning. I really wish they have something like this in Southern California. read more

Great gym, its like its own little health and wellness city, every kind of class, equipment, classes you can imagine for a gym. The staff is all very nice and helpful and the sales counselor wasn't too pushy. They have different challenges going on all the time and the cafe has great food and service.
