My 3 year old and 8 year look forward to going to the kids club and always seem to have a blast when they're there, which is always a plus! I pay $160 a month and this gym is constantly out of soap for the showers. And every time they don't give a notification to the members they have no soap. We just had a pandemic and you don't have soap. I don't want to hear your vendor doesn't have soap, by at it at target or another vendor until then. So far, it is the best gym I've ever been too, a lot of amenities and clean. Every employee is really nice, especially the locker room attendants. I've suffered a stroke 2 years ago and I still have some memory issues. Every time I've gone there I keep forgetting which locker I used so I have to tell them to help me out and they did without making a fuzz out of it. Now they see me going back to them because I can't find my locker and it just became a funny thing between all of us. They don't act like they hate that moment, they just help me get my stuff. Well so far so good! I stopped in one day as I needed to back in the gym and was debating a $10 a month gym or Lifetime. Since I'm a dad and I had to really commit, I decided that the $10 a gym honestly would not have checked all my boxes. I met Phi as a walk-in Appt and was able to be shown around. I have been in plenty of gyms and know what I'm looking for. I didn't sign up day one but he sent me a guest pass and asked about my needs. I provided him a list and he called me the next week as the promotions had changed and it was what I was looking for. I love the kids center for my son. They are all nice and they have have classes just for him as I want him to understand the importance and fun working out at a gym can be. For me tons of free weights, treadmills, rowing machines and trainers to help you out. Plenty of cleaning supplies to wipe down your equipment after use plus they have employees also doing this as well. Happy I'm here and hope to drop some of this 40 year old weight! read more

I would not recommend Lifetime Fitness to anyone, I was physically threatened by the assistant manager, Matt Shane. In July of 2013, I went to Lifetime Fitness in Garland on a one week trial membership pass. I arrived at about 7pm and went to the front desk and showed the two girls working there my temporary membership card. One girl seemed confused about what to do and she started talking to the other girl whose was on the phone. The first girl just acted like it was OK for me to go on in the club. She handed my card back to me and smiled so I thought that it was OK to proceed. She did not ask me to sign in nor did I see a sign-in sheet. I started walking towards the locker room when someone yelled at me from behind. I turned around and saw a very large black man approaching me in a very aggressive manner. I later found out he was assistant manager Matt Shane. He acted very threatening and told me that I did not "sign-in" and that I had to go back and "sign- in". Neither of the girls had presented a sign-in sheet to me so I thought he meant that I did not "check-in", which I of course had done this. I told him that I did check-in and that a Lifetime salesperson had given me a 7 day pass. He walked up to me and demanded I go back to the front desk and "sign-in". Again, I told him I had already done this and asked him to speak with the salesperson that had given me the pass. He became very aggressive and confrontational at this point. He stepped in front of me in a threatening manner and said that I had to do it "his way" and go sign-in or else he was going to kick me out of the club. He also kept saying that I had to verbally agree to do it "his way". I again told him I had already checked-in and saw no need to do it again and told him to check with the girls at the front desk. I told him I was going to proceed to the locker room at which point he said he repeated that he was kicking me out and that I can leave the "easy way" or the "hard way", which I took to mean that he was going to physically throw me out. I told him that I wanted to speak with the club manager and he told me he was club manager. I asked him who his supervisor was and he said that he was the boss and there was no one above him, which I later found out to be untrue. I could not believe an employee was acting this way to a customer.....like he was going to physically assault me. I told him that I would go back to the front desk and "check-in" again even though I had already done this. He then said no, that he was kicking me out of the club and he repeated I can leave on my own or he can do it the "hard way". As we were both walked up towards the front desk, he told me his name was Matt Shane. I told him I was going to file a complaint against him because of his attitude and he became very angry when I said this. We got to the reception desk and I saw a sign-on sheet sitting off to the side of the desk area. I walked up to it and proceeded to sign in. Mr. Shane glared at me as I signed-in and then walked back to his office. I went on into the club and worked out. I was of course very upset for the treatment I received and obtained the name of the manager from the girls at the front desk. A few days later I was able to reach the general manager, Jeff Mangen, and told him what happened. Jeff apologized for what happened and said that someone would be in touch with me later regarding the issue. No one ever contacted me. I also mentioned to Jeff Mangen that he may want to view the video tape to see how confrontational Matt Shane acted towards me in his aggressive mannger. There was a video camera right where this took place. Jeff Mangen stated that doing this would serve no useful purpose since there was no audio to go along with the video. I was surprised that he said this as I felt he could see what happened on the video tape..no need for the audio. I called the corporate office located in Chanhassen, Minnesota and told guest relations what happened. They said they would look into the matter and get back with me. I never heard from anyone. I again called the corporate office and spoke to a supervisor named Nathan Jones. He said he would look into the matter and get back with me. Never heard from him. I emailed him twice and he never replied. I called back several more times and spoke to several other people in guest relations and they all said someone would get back with me but no one ever did. I would certainly not recommend LifeTime Fitness to anyone as you may get physically threatened by Matt Shane like I did and no one seems to care. read more

I've been a member of LTF since 2005, having cancelled my 24Hr membership before this location opened. I'm very predictable, go 5-6 days a week. I've frozen my account 3x without any issues (all for maternity-related or general health complications). General: When this place opened, everything was 4-5 star. I took advantage of PT and loved it. Pools/wet areas were clean and well staffed. The childcare at this location has consistently been great (my kids never turn down the opportunity, and they are now 8 and 5). I've never used the LifeSpa at this location, but they always seem busy. The LifeCafe is very reasonable ($), well-staffed, and clean. Now, in 2013, b/c of work schedules, sometimes I visit the Carrollton or the Plano locations instead, but always visit N.Garland on the weekends or evening if I don't get my daytime workout in. Now that I can compare... Women's (and Family) Locker room: Over the past year I've definitely seen a decline in upkeep and general hygiene. While I do fault the disgusting habits of members who do not pick up after themselves or their children, I am disappointed to see that the hospitality staff do not do enough to pick up the slack during a "busy hour." I'm tempted to bring rubber gloves and bleach lately. When comparing this to Carrollton, the locker rooms (N.Garland) are a pig sty, and the staff seems more "behind." (We have enough towels, do some cleaning please). Even compared to Plano, which sees a lot more people in these areas, at least the clean-up effort is more evident (at Plano). Aquatics areas: Over the past few years, I've seen at the N.Garland location members trying to sneak their own food in and litter the place, w/o any fear of being addressed by the staff. The litter results in pest issues. If I hadn't been to other locations, I would've grudgingly put up with this, but I see more watchfulness from the staff at these other locations than I see at N.Garland. Would I leave LTF over these issues? As long as I can easily fit in visits to the other clubs, likely not. I just hope this review helps others and maybe also reaches management (N.Garland). read more

The gym offers so many great amenities like a day spa, hair salon, indoor pool, outdoor pool (both of which include slides), yoga (in different forms), basketball courts, brand spanking new flashy gym equipments, jacuzzi, cafe that is well stocked of healthy delectable treats, spacious sauna and so much more! I love the fact that the facility is clean. The bathrooms/changing rooms are so clean! This review is of the LifeSpa only. I am a member and love the gym and classes. I came for the spa week special - facial + massage + mani/pedi = $99. What a great deal, i thought! The facial left a lot to be desired. The lady who did it basically just washed my face and gave me some werid kind of facial massage - i think she was trying to touch my pressure points but instead just poked of my face with her fingers. The poking lasted for about 10 minutes. She didn't use a steam machine either to open up my pores. After the facial, i even told her that it was the weridest facial i've ever had. She said that this was the Express Facial - later, i checked the front desk and they said i should've recieved the Signature Facial. Oh and guess what? They still charged me for it! And guess what else - the lady left make-up on my face so she didn't even really clean it! I left sad and feeling that i had been cheated:( read more

I have been a member at the Garland Lifetime for several years. I take yoga and pilates classes only. I have two children, ages four and six, and they love coming in the summer for the outdoor pool. My son has also taken a rock-climbing camp and loved it! I feel compelled, though, to address the childcare personnel. I took my children to the childcare room one morning while I attended a class. Although I pay to have my children on my membership, I rarely utilize the childcare option. On this particular day, I dropped them off, and they seemed happy to be there. One hour later, after class ended, I went into the child care center to pick them up and just watched them play for a minute or two as they hadn't seen me yet. The girl in charge of the play area seemed very frazzled; she didn't seem as though she was enjoying her job at all. She didn't know I was there either, and my son was sitting in front of a slide, and she went to my son, grabbed him by the arm, and started dragging him from the slide across the room. My son looked terrified like he was about to cry, and I immediately asked her what she was doing, that was my son, and she had no right to touch him, much less grab him and drag him!!!!! I took my son away from her and he hid behind me and started to cry. I was horrified and she never apologized; she just walked away from us. I reported the incident to the main desk employee at the child care center; I also reported the incident to the general manager. He apologized and offered to buy my son a smoothie. That was it!!!! A couple days later, I went in and removed my children from my membership as they now refuse to go to the childcare center because of how they were treated. My son was afraid to go back! I don't know if they fired this employee or counseled her, but I hope, for the sake of other children, they get rid of her and employees like her. That is NO WAY to treat a child, and I just happened to be there to witness it...I wonder what would have happened had I not been there? Once you go Lifetime, you don't want to go back unless financial needs forces you to. It may not be considered the newest gym compared to the other Lifetime locations but something about this place makes it enjoyable. Compared to their competitors, their service is outstanding from my experience. Friendly staff members and trainers who are available to help if needed. The trainers engage with their members to ensure your visit is worthwhile. Lifetime over a variety of classes including yoga, hip hop, insanity and Zumba etc. If you're into yoga, I would recommend trying their classes. It's definitely worth it compared to other fitness center. There's an indoor and outdoor pool that includes a water slide. There's also a volleyball court outside if you can rally up some players. As for the inside, the gym is very spacious. I like the cafeteria since they offer good healthy food. Aside from that, there's a spa center, rock climbing, and even a taekwondo class. What I love is that they have clean locker rooms which comes with towels and blow dryers. I would spend hours here as if it was my second home; more of my sanctuary I would say. Honestly, I've been spoiled here so it's really hard to adjust to other gym. I would suggest getting a free trial pass to start your own experience with Lifetime. They usually have monthly deals so be sure to ask about that. There's also great perks if you do decide to sign up such LT Bucks where you can shop for apparel/gears. My family has the lifetime premier club membership - we're diamond club members. I never could get the drive to make the short distance to the premier club. We had the membership for a while and as summer approached, I started looking for one of the gyms with a pool. I should not have waited as long as I did. This place isn't as posh as the Premier club, but the other amenities make up for it. The first person I met when going to this gym was Josh. He has an amazing attitude. He's upbeat and fun! He showed me around this gym. Its a nice size. OH MY GOSH - THE POOL! THE POOL IS AMAZING! I could leave my daughter in the childcare center while I went to relax by the pool. Ahhhhhh.... so lovely! My youngest daughter is four. She is my main reason for loving this gym. This is the one SHE wants to visit! The indoor play area has an area for her to climb and slide. She makes friends here every time she goes. They have a nice outdoor play area when the weather is nice and in the summer, the pool has awesome kiddie amenities. My daughter loves the staff in the play area too! She wakes up in the morning and wants to go to the gym! How about that? My four year old is a big motivator to make the drive from my house to Garland to work out. The indoor pool is very nice. It is complete with a water slide and they have family swim every night. Do you want something relaxing to do while your kids tire out? Come here in the evening! The ladies locker room is nice. Granite, nice steam room, clean showers, clean towels. There's even a quiet lounge area where you can watch television or if you are nursing an infant, this would be perfect! The lifecafe is really nice. Its always clean and they can make anything you eat gluten free. Braden has always remembered my name and is friendly. I always love coming in to the cafe, he's very quick witted. I get a smoothie almost every time I go. On occasion, I get asked why I go to this lifetime when I'm a member of the lifetime Premier club. Why here and not there? This place is awesome. I'm treated well, people go out of their way to say hello. Everyone is friendly. My daughter has lots to do and loves to play. She never, ever, ever gets bored. Are you looking for a gym? Do you want to go somewhere that has clean, reliable, two hour childcare? Go up in this gym and work on your fitness. This is the place to go. In fact, I've even made the suggestion in my home that we find a home closer to the gym because I would be there all day, every day. This place is awesome! I'm giving Lifetime Fitness 5 stars based on my comparison of other similar gyms in the area as well as gyms I currently am experiencing in New York City. I do realize this is a stark contrast of a comparison, but I still want to review for anyone who might feel slightly dissatisfied and/or unknowingly spoiled by Lifetime. I just wanted to share my experience in not knowing how good I had it, until it was gone! First, the price of membership is worth what you are getting at Lifetime in my opinion. There is always a plethora of clean towels, lockers, machines, and staff that you never, ever have to wait for. A dry and wet sauna; indoor and outdoor pool. Childcare, beauty/salon and health facilities. Get your hair and nails did. Treat yo' self to a massage. See a physical therapist; get your fat arse in shape with a trainer. Swim laps in the lap pool, or lay out at the outdoor pool where there is also a plethora of tanning chairs. Lifeguards to look out for you. A cafe inside and out, just in case you get hungry. Spin classes indoors, spin classes outdoor IN A POOL. Classes. LOTS of classes. At Lifetime, everything is within your reach and accessible. Most locations are 24-hours too, so it's extremely accommodating to your schedule! This place is like a Club Med for heaven's sake! Now, I'll tell you about the gym I currently go to in New York. First, the price of membership is completely not worth what I get at this, unnamed, large chain of gyms in the Tri-State area. Since the cost of living is so high here, I pay 75% more what you pay at Lifetime but I don't even get half of what you're getting. I get perpetually smelly and dirty locker rooms, plus the risk that a broken locker door can easily break and hurt you, as has happened to me and plenty others. Our dry sauna room is literally a 6th of Lifetime's - only 1, at most 2 people can be in it at one time (what's the point?). I get ghetto trainers and instructors that love undressing womens' bodies with their eyes. I get just a few classes each day, recycled in one classroom that STINKS. I hate it and it's not worth the money I pay for it! But it's the most I can afford! Hopefully, you can understand, for the amount of money I was paying, I can now be appreciative of all that a gym like Lifetime has to offer. I have belonged to Life Time Garland since the day it opened. It is as nice now as it was then. I don't understand the negative reviews but suspect these people have an ax to grind. The club is clean and is not over crowded. I see LA fitness mentioned and there is no way it competes with Life Time. I have been to LA Fitness belonged to Los Caballeros when I lived in Orange County and all kinds of mom and pop gyms. Life Time is expensive but you get what you pay for. Life Time has the right formula. No other gym has all these amenities (outdoor pool with slides, dido for indoor, indoor and outdoor lap pool, towel service, lockers, nice basketball courts, hot and dry saunas). I see the trainers and managers cleaning the areas all the time. They often greet you by name when you enter and say goodbye when you leave. read more

Never thought I'd have an issue with a gym; nonetheless here I am reverting to making my issues public so others are aware of the horrible service and lack of care for their members. Long story short my father was a long time member, talking years here. My issue is when my father went to request a guest pass for me to utilize during my quick visit with them. Instead of being handed a pass he was told I needed to pick it up and was handed a card with the name Maegan Wade King on it. Ridiculous! To play along I went and had to wait over an hour to meet with this Maegan and in the end I was sent to see a representative who tried to sell me a membership. Not only that but I was offended and appalled the other employees lack of professionalism when he stereotyped me and insulted me by assuming certain things in regards to my situation. I emailed this Maegan Wade King twice and received zero responses. Needless to say My father ended his membership with this heinous gym. read more

This club used to be awesome until Corey became the club manager. The previous club manager Jeff was always concerned about customer feedback and always responded in a timely fashion. He would NEVER make customers wait to weigh in while he discussed what they are doing in the team Alpha class that starts in 10 minutes. I have sent emails to Corey. They have been IGNORED!!!! Ample parking. Friendly staff. Clean. Availability of equipment AND this location is 24 hours. I was welcomed upon coming in with a smile. I was greeted again prior to entering the locker rooms. Ample towels were available. The locker space was interesting. This location is a "gold" club. However, the first couple of locker areas have signs on individual lockers that are for "platinum members" only and or specialty recognitions I.e. 90-Day Challenge winner. This did not bother me as I am primarily there to workout so I could care less about special/preferential lockers. I just thought it was interesting to separate and make stand out the fact that certain people pay more money to use the same club. I smiled and continued on to the main floor upstairs. This location was quite busy for a Sunday night. However, things were in place. Weights were racked in order and in the right places. I had no issues finding a squat rack and immediately getting to work. I did not use other amenities I.e. Pool, steam room and or sauna. Those areas looked well kept. Great location. Family friendly. Pretty cool place to have fun. The facilities are kept immensely clean, the staff here are super helpful, and the lifeguards do their jobs very well. I came here to swim as a guest with a member and I really loved the place. The women's locker rooms are very tidy and they come with hair and bathing suit dryers. The showers are clean and I feel comfortable enough to walk barefoot (I wont). I really like it here, I recommend swimming and the waterslides. read more

I have been working out here for 8 years, it is the main club I go to because it is on my way to work. They have the whole package here. The staff is friendly. If your looking for a trainer I suggest Jeff Land. He is very knowledgeable about metabolism, supplements, obviously training. He sticks with you when your having a hard time, if your stuck he wants to figure out why. Lifetime offers extensive testing through there labs, such as food sensitivity and more extensive blood work it has helped me to achieve my goals. I am going to start working with the nutritionist Ashley. Very encouraging and positive atmosphere, especially when you take full advantage of what Lifetime has to offer. read more

Not Happy with the service from the Supervisor and the General Manager , did not want to listen and was very unfriendly, So easily charge you and take out money from your bank account when you not there's but in order to cancel your account, you have to be there, be careful of the scam about them telling you to not cancel and keep your account running for only $15 and it's up to 9 months until you are ready to redo the contract and it's been only 5 months and I noticed they just take $130's from my account and when I brought it to their attention, the supervisor and General Manager did not want to hear it, so now I am pursuing to corporate level and the general manager say that corporate will have to answer to him . We need more people to step up to voice about services like this, there is plenty of other places, do not waste your money and time with unprofessional people! read more

Two things. This fitness center is very HOT- temperature wise- even in winter- if you do aerobics. Most "nicer" fitness centers have the temps a little cool (68 degrees or so) for aerobics. The teaching rooms are much cooler. Very hot temperatures in main cardio area. If you use the treadmill to run or walk, be prepared for disrespectrul members to be blabbing loudly on their cell phones next to you. It does not bother them a bit to be so obnoxious. You just have to endure. If this were a yoga class in the club - this rude behavior would not tolerated. But - it is OK if you are "only" running or walking on treadmill. Many of us go to the gym to "escape" and decompress. It is very jarring and annoying to be next to someone- yammering on a cell phone next to you. "Conversations" between 2 people do not have this same level of intrusiveness. There is a softer quality to "in person" conversations. I wish they would ban cell phones from the aerobic area. Rude people do not realize how obnoxious and rude their behavior is to people trying to decompress and focus. It is very hard to get into "the zone" listening to this jabbering. I left Lifetime Fitness for this reason. Other gyms in the area are a little more respectful. I won't say where I went - because I do not want the jabber heads to go there. I am relieved to be in a gym now, that is cheaper, cooler and has a much more respectful clientele. Do not try to "complain" and waste your Life Energy. The staff are oblivious and do not really listen. They want your money. End of the story. They do not care about maintaining a respectful environment for all members. Silver is definitely one of the best employees at this gym. He has been so extremely helpful anytime I need anything and always has the most welcoming smile when you walk in! Also, I've been going to this gym since 2007 and I moved away for a bit and tried to use other gyms but nothing compares. Forever my favorite gym. read more
