If you have a 9-5 and want to use this gym to lift weights good luck because the majority or the weight racks are used back to back for group class leaving barely any for those of us who come to the gym to lift weights without being part of a class never seen a gym take up a space that's designed for all members fully taken by a class normally they do group classes in rooms or something anyway I basically can't workout here it sucks as I love my personal trainer here at the garland location but what good is it if I can't use the gym on the days I'm not working out with her. read more

I will never come back this location again. If I could give no star for review I will do it. I used to work in the plano location that's so much better than here! When I first visit here they told me they have free pilates class but when I sign up for the space online it need to be paid extra. It's cheating! It's crowded in the morning and smelly at night. I don't know what time should I come. The employees at front desk making face to me when I ask for cancellation of the membership. and she let me wait on the side but I was here earlier than other customers. I felt disrespected. EDITED TO ADD: From reading the "business owner" response, I hope you can see the accusatory attitude they have towards customers, and a bit of false information. I'll provide a little more detail -- the corporate office told me the kids can be 11 and older as long as they are with parents (which apparently the "business owner" got wrong below). I had to provide my kids birth certificates to prove their ages (how often does that happen) and a corporate customer care rep confirmed it in their system. At the same time, I shared about my experience with the Garland location to corporate customer care... afterward, this Garland location went out of their way to have someone call and harass me further. That led me to cancel my membership altogether. Still in disbelief. Also FYI - decided to go for a membership with that home gym company that starts with a "P"... I can see now why they are a threat to these gyms, you don't have to deal with surprises like this. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I had a horrible experience with Wayne at the Garland Lifetime location, who made my preteen children feel discouraged from coming in to exercise. This gym does not want families here. They claim they are family friendly, but in reality they don't want us here. Mine are mature and quiet, and work out with me on the treadmill, stretch, and do sit-ups. Because one is shorter, we get questions from the staff, including this last time from Wayne. So rude, and it discourages them from wanting to come in to the gym. Those of you with kids of any age, know how difficult it is to keep them encouraged to stay in shape. The best way is for them to see us exercise, and do it together, so we are modeling healthy behavior. This gym made it impossible for me to do that. Also, I saw a few reviews here about kids on the pickle ball courts, we actually didn't use the pickle ball courts because there were too many adults and I didn't want my kids to play with them. I think most parents wouldn't want their kids to be playing against random adults. Because of their new Pickle Ball FreePlay times, and the pool closure during the week, this gym does not have anything else for kids to do besides the treadmill. I will never endorse Lifetime Gym. I canceled the membership and will use the $2000 per year toward having our own equipment at home and a gym membership with a better, more welcoming environment for preteens who want to begin working out together with parents. read more

I had to cancel my membership today for me and my 3 children. The childcare used to be amazing. They had great workers such as Kayla and Jasmine. The last several times I've come they call me within 30 minutes or less to come get my daughter. Today they called me after 12 minutes stating my daughter was crying. Here's where the problem lies and why I hope they address the problems with the kids club soon before families altogether start canceling their membership. I check my daughter in at 6:48 pm. There are no other toddlers in the toddler area it is Monday evening. The worker places her down on the floor and exits the area. The other worker still there in that toddler area continues cleaning and does not come over to acknowledge her. She is too busy picking up toys even though the kids club doesn't close until 8:30pm. Now I have 3 children, I am not some overbearing mother who expects special treatment. I was already worried as I walked out that they wouldn't try to interact or entertain her and if that would mean I would be able to get any exercise in at all. At $30/kid a month I would hope for at least 40 minutes. They called me and I came down. When I come down after working out for 6 minutes I find my daughter at the glass door crying while the worker has her back to her still cleaning up. Kayla or Keyla would always do a great job at carrying my daughter, playing videos and dancing and enticing her with toys to be able to give me a peace of mind so I can workout. This worker only had one baby and could not be bothered giving her the time a day to try and console her. Instead of leaving any toys out she made sure to put everything away. I know she knew she was in the wrong because she avoided eye contact with me and continued to ignore my crying baby. I really hate to leave a bad review because I know that I will just be met with some generic response by the owner and I get it. However I thought it was important to share to others looking into gyms with a family about my experience here and how inadequate the childcare is now despite the doubling in price per child. My older children love the activities here and it is a shame to go. However for a family of 5 paying $267 a month, I just can't justify it if they can't even be bothered having to actually put effort in to entertain children. I've worked at a daycare, I know how to take care of kids and show them a good time. The employees here do not put in any effort at all anymore. read more

Poor compliance to ADA requirements. They are not repairing the ADA lift to the pool used for exercise and swimming swim walking. It has been broken for multiple weeks and reminders have been given and the request are delayed. Communications are not clear. Poor responsibility to members female members are not given a safe environment to exercise in, staff can be unpleasant . read more

Zero stars if I could. HORRIBLE and DISTASTEFUL due to employee---Wayne Carlisle, the concierge manager at Lifetime Fitness, He turned what should have been a routine visit into an utterly dreadful experience by negligently turning away my husband. His behavior was not only unreasonable but also incredibly rude and quite evil. I strongly caution against giving your hard earned dollars his gym! Despite their hefty fees, they deny entry without warning. Stating he didn't have a photo. When his staff took a photo! That apparently didn't register. Imagine have a bad mental health day and being turned away for a gym YOU pay for because an error on the gyms behalf !! Thank God my husband is mentally sounds I feel compelled to alert others for those who may fall under a similar humiliating act in the near future without any warnings my husband faced rejection and ridicule when he was denied entry at Lifetime Fitness Garland. As his wife, witnessing his humiliation was deeply upsetting. Despite his earnest attempts to resolve the situation by presenting various forms of identification, including his picture and ID scanned on his first day, he was met with continued rejection. Even fellow members witnessed the ordeal and offered their guest pass to a stranger, as they witnessed this so called managers horrible demeanor It's infuriating that my husband's experience as a new member was tarnished by an administrative glitch that was not his fault. Denying someone access to the gym over such an error is simply unjustifiable. I urge everyone to steer clear of this gym, which appears to condone prejudice and discrimination and does not prioritize mental health No one should be made to feel unwelcome in a place meant for fitness and well-being. Shame on Lifetime Fitness Garland for employing individuals like Wayne Carlisle, who epitomize such disdainful behavior. Frustrated. I just want transparency, and this gym doesn't have it. My husband and I joined solely to use the pickleball courts and occasionally the indoor pool. Come to find out that on top of the monthly membership fee of $180, you have to pay an additional $20 an hour to play, even when there is no one on the courts. I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous. No one has to pay an additional $20 to play basketball or use the weights, and, to be quite honest, they shouldn't, as that's what the membership fee is for. If you're looking for price gouging, this is the gym for you. If you just want to play pickleball, find a new gym. It's just not worth it at Life Time. read more

I recently rejoined Lifetime Garland, TX. Of the clubs I've belonged to, it has the most variety of strength training equipment (machines, free weights, squat racks, etc.), and a great assortment of classes, both included with the membership as well as extra. Without spending extra money, I get a good workout in every class I've participated in. I also enjoy the complimentary lockers (no need to bring a padlock) and towels, and the Cafe now includes vegan offerings (and protein powders for sale) which is a nice development. My only wish: that the 60-day challenge held twice a year - which includes a vegetarian meal plan - would also encompass a vegan meal plan. But it's a minor thing. read more

Lifetime fitness insisted on charging us membership fees for each nanny we used that would be dropping off my son at activities and to take him to the pool. This is in addition to pool fees and family membership for everyone each year! The nanny's were not working out but we're working and taking care of my family. This is unconscionable money -grubbing behavior. They are not flexible and unhelpful unless you pay them. Over $300 a month for our family (mom, dad, 7yo son) to go to a gym. We quickly found a comparable recreational center/gym that fit our needs without dealing with the greedy company of lifetime fitness. I would avoid this place unless you don't mind overpaying and I'm sure, getting taken advantage of in other ways in the future. We have the money to do it but at this point it is the principle that is leading us to avoid this kind of behavior from a big company that will not look out for you. read more

Amazing trainers, amazing clases, there are a lot of options for kids exercise, and they take care of your babies while you do exercise! During summer they have camps for kids as well. They just remodeled the second floor and placed new machine! They have sauna, pool, steam room, showers etc. I love this fitness center read more

Greeting. I joined lifetime when they opened many years ago. In those days it was a great place to work out. unfortunately now in 2023, it in nothing more than a Senior Citizen Rec Center. Seriously, the place is filled 24/7 with the old and in-firmed. Don't misunderstand me, I am 75 years old. I train for Triathlons. I train to be world class. Swimming is a large part of my training. The club has both indoor and outdoor lap pools. Good luck finding a lane. The lap pools are always filled with people just hanging out. Some are playing with pool noodles and other water toys. Many are just floating or waving their hands in the air. All of these thing can easily be done in the regular large pools. Now, let's move on to the weight room. It's a bit better here. All the oldies here do work out. The issue is the crush of people. Granted the oldies do their sets and move on. The young folks are the issue. One set of eight then ten minutes on social media or texting. The request " Can I work in" is totally alien speak to these people. You get the thousand yard stare then they just continue to sit on the machine. Also the club is a day camp for hordes of 7 year old kids. Again, this place is no place for serious trainers. Life Time Fitness, Garland, is a Senior Rec Center / children's day camp. If you are even remotely a serious trainer, go elsewhere. A.P.H. read more

For many years this gym was managed by staff that cared about its members. It had a staff and managers that Understood customer care and expectation. That how ever has declined to the point where management doesn't understand they are a service oriented business. The staff are belittling, rude, unprofessional and prance around like they are better than the patrons. The overall cleanliness and upkeep of the gym has declined to the point that its appearance is a reflection of the poor management. Don't waste your time or money on this location. I would've signed up at Equinox but my dear friend Olivia Smith convinced me it was worth a shot. I just wanted to say never take your staff for granted starting with the greatest Bleson at the front desk, to the life cafe, the trainers, the hospitality team - I can go on and on. LTF Garland is not just a regular gym. It is a home gym. I upgraded to diamond membership just in case I'm around my other property nearby, I will surely visit you. As much as it hurts me to write this, I fear I have no choice. As reliable as this club has been for the past 16 years, I'm sadden to turn on the club and say that this is quite frankly THE worst Lifetime Club in all of the DFW metroplex. Let me preface this review by stating that I have been a member of this specific club since it's opening in 2006. Over the years, I have grown up along side the club and seen it's youthful prime with members jubilantly hustling to get in and out, and its eventual demise with its constructional infrastructure caving in on itself. For starters, this club has definitely become to dirtiest club of them all. Outdated machines, washed towels that are still stained, and basketball courts with nets that look like they have been dipped in sewage water and ran through the roughest dryer you could find. It's almost as if this specific Lifetime is in a competition with the "best" 24 Hour Fitness to see who has the worst infrastructure. Ironically if that was the case, Lifetime would be successful. The saddest part about it is that it's absolutely not the employee's faults. Some of the employees I have known for years on years. This dilapidated and corrosive infrastructure of the club is just nearly the tip of the insipid and negligent iceberg of their management. Sadly due to its proximity of my home, I have no other viable option than to come to this club for the weeks that I am staying around here, but if you're looking to join a Lifetime Club, look towards the Allen, Plano, or Frisco locations. I almost couldn't muster the gravitas to write this review but it was long overdue. I guess sometimes you outgrow your childhood. (This is not a satirical review. I've been a member of Lifetime Fitness for many many years. However, for the last year I've had a friend working there as an account manager. I have come to see that this is not a healthy way of life company at all. She was forced to work 60 hours a week, or risk getting fired. Her boss told her one time, "if I'd have known you'd had two kids I would've never hired you". She's been teaching there for five years as well, and has never gotten a raise. It is a hostile, negative, hateful work environment. If you are at all worried about the people who work there, including the trainers, various staff members, and certainly the account managers, I suggest to you from a human rights perspective, that you do not join this gym. read more

I should give this place a 2 star due to fact that my membership started off at $40.00 and now it's damn near $60.00. I've said many times that I'm going to quit and go somewhere else, but the fact of the matter is Lifetime Fitness is the cream of the crop when it comes to gyms. As far as the equipment is concerned, they have a bunch of the standard equipment such as benches, free weights, treadmills, etc. There are pools inside and out, basketball courts, racquetball courts, rock climbing, and a day care center for a small additional fee. I've heard some good things about all of the aerobic classes that come free with the membership, but I personally have never gone to any. How many gyms can say that they have a full service cafe inside of their gym? They offer a variety of healthy menus items including a "deal of the day." This is an item that they select each day, and is offered at a discounted price. You get to choose from one breakfast item, protein shake or lunch item. Otherwise their menu is fairly expensive.They say you get what you pay for and I suppose at the end of day you're getting your monies worth at this place. read more

I had a membership with Lifetime in Garland and enjoyed it. The showers were a little gross. Like, you would see hair on the drain almost always. But the equipment was nice. I moved to the downtown area and decided to cancel my membership with the Garland location. I was instructed to leave a 30 day notice with the front desk and fill out their form. I did so. But then I noticed I was still being charged almost 4 months after canceling. So, I reached out to the GM. They have no record of it. I gave my cancellation in April and by me leaving this review, I'm sure you can tell that they still have not found my notice and are still charging me for it monthly!! DONT SIGN UP HERE! They're disorganized and crooks! Completely unacceptable for an establishment of this size to not have their shit together and learn proper customer service etiquette and admit that it was their fault. read more

This is an Elite franchise with the same equipment as an old 24hr fitness. Even some 24hr fitness locations have Prime equipment, watson dumbbells, Rogue bars, Mag grips etc, and they dont even charge as much as Lifetime does for their memberships. Yeah, yeah..marble floors and endless pools and towel service. But outdated weight training equipment? Not that you can't get results out of older equipment but for an Elite franchise with premium cost for a membership? Yeah, you should update your equipment for some elite stuff. read more

I will say I have only visited the Garland LTF once. I moved to Rockwall from Fairview last month so my regular LTF was in Allen. The two gyms do not compare. Allen is much, much cleaner, has a lot more classes, a friendlier vibe, energetic staff, and amenities in the locker rooms which are missing from Garland (razors, shaving cream, upgraded shampoo, conditioner, and body wash). The Allen gym is 5 star. I give this one a 3 because 1) I don't want to be mean and 2) I know it is not near as bad as LA Fitness (but it has the same low energy). We are reconsidering our membership bc we are getting less at Garland than we received at Allen for the same price. Because of school and church, we are still commuting to Allen 3x a week but that will end in mid-December. We will have to think about whether or not Garland is worth the price. At this point, I say it is not. read more

Holy smokes! If I lived in the Dallas area, I would get a membership at this Life Time Fitness location exclusively for Mark's TCX class! I came here on a guest pass with a few friends who attend his class every week, and this was seriously one of the most challenging group fitness workouts of my life. TCX with Mark makes Barry's Bootcamp look like daycare, and I mean that as the highest compliment. Total Condition Extreme (TCX ) is a straight hour of full-body cardio and strength combos. One exercise is introduced, and there are a total of 3 variations of the activity, each one progressing in difficulty and usually increasing the amount of cardio introduced. As an example, our first combo was a normal pushup, then plyo push-ups, and just when you think your arms are going to fall off, the final variation is literally just exploding vertically off the ground. I did not know that human bodies were capable of this. Mark's class was so thoughtfully planned and methodically executed. He does not let you slack at all, and will call you out if you do, but still manages to be supportive and encouraging. Honestly, if I came to Mark's TCX class every week, I'd probably be able to get abs lol. I consider myself fairly fit (HIIT classes 5-6x/week), but my entire body was sore for DAYS after his class. Places that I did not think were possible to be sore were sore. Just incredible! read more
