The capellini is a blend of primarily angel hair and sweet sausage. Simply add a touch of parmesan cheese and you'll be in heaven. I usually eat cheese filled ravioli with marinara sauce, but the chef put an excellent twist to this dish! The food preparer has given a new meaning to ravioli by altering the filling and the sauce making it tastier. On a slightly constructive note, I enjoyed the tartufo but it's basically a pricey version of a Klondike bar with a cherry in the middle. However, their cakes are out of this world. The tres leches and chocolate mousse has the perfect amount of sugar and consistency. Sweets like these are the reason why there are two "s" in dessert; you'll always crave seconds! From appetizer to dessert, you'll dine like a king in a suburban palace. Be sure to go the full distance with a three course meal! #italianrestaurant #njfoodie #ravioli #calamari

The menu isn't massive, but they cover every category with extreme precision and do it really well. Seafood, pasta, veal, chicken, and all the classic appetizers you can think of from stuffed artichokes, zucchini blossoms, and house-made burrata. The ambiance is old-school Italian in the best way: timeless, romantic, and cozy. It works just as well for an intimate date night as it does for a small group dinner. Bonus points for being BYOB. We ordered the veal marsala and the seafood pomodoro. The veal was pounded to perfection and swimming in a ridiculously addictive sauce. The seafood pasta was cooked perfectly and loaded with fresh shrimp, clams, and mussels and you can taste the quality and care put in the food. Meals are served with a salad to start, and you can expect to spend around $35 per entrée, which feels more than fair for the quality. We were genuinely impressed and were treated with a lot of attention throughout the meal. The concept of the restaurant being run by two italian twins was honestly so sweet. Highly recommend if you're looking for classic Italian done right without trekking into the city.

Located on the busy West Pleasant Avenue in Maywood, my partner, our friends, and I decided on Amici's, translated from the Italian meaning "friends." Upon arrival for some of us as first-timers at this family-owned BYOB neighborhood establishment, we were greeted by the staff and got a table for 5 inside one of the dining rooms by the window for a celebratory dinner. Outside dining is available, weather permitting. Their menu features authentic Italian staples such as wood-fired pizzas, classic pasta dishes, and homemade comfort food. As appetizers, we decided on the Rice Balls with vodka sauce. For our main meal, we opted for the Flounder Francese, Eggplant Parmigiana (one with spaghetti and another with linguini), Paccheri with Seafood, Roma Pizza, and Tossed Salad. Some meal accompanied by a side salad. Complimentary bread began our meal. Everything tasted fresh and well-balanced. One can tell they take pride in their ingredients and preparation. The pasta especially deserves all the hype, rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The portions were healthy and suitable for a second meal. The prices were reasonable. The owner, Rosario, would personally visit each table for small talk. The entire staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely cared about making our experience special; our server was Dawne. So, the next time one sits down to eat, take a moment to appreciate the experience. Savor the flavors, yes, but also relish the connections that form across the table. In a world that sometimes feels divided, food serves as a reminder of our shared connections. This is exactly how a business needs to be run; therefore, we highly recommend Amici's to anyone looking for true back-home dining.

We've attended functions of all kinds here, and each time, we left feeling completely full and sated. For a chain, Maggiano's punches well above its weight class with its mix of ambiance, service, and generous portions of dependable pasta-centric dishes. The food is surprisingly decent for something that's cooked and served in such volume. My favorite entree from my most recent visit was the chicken parmesan. I don't know how they achieved it, but the cutlets somehow stayed crispy under the load of hot red sauce and melty cheese. The service is fantastic. Every time we've rented out a space, the staff were readily available and attendant to our evolving needs throughout the event. The all-you-can-eat part of the catered events is a major plus. When our table raved over the fried calamari and quickly bulldozed our shared platter, we only needed to ask for a refill. Minutes later, our server came by with a plateful of freshly fried calamari. So, the comfort that I didn't quite find at my hotel? I found it here -- at an Italian restaurant…read more I wasn't so much in the mood for Italian food as I was for patio/al fresco dining and something delicious to drink. The food was an afterthought (initially). At Aumm Aumm, it (the food) became the main story. My rideshare dropped me off and I thought, 'This will do.' A large patio in the late spring sun was just what I needed. I walked in and said I was a party of one and I wanted to eat outside. Done. Soon, a very chatty and kind waiter was taking good care of me and offering a glass bottle of still water.* As I am wont to do, I ate in waves: appetizer and main course (and, if I have the room/interest, dessert). A drink and a solid. A began my meal with the burrata. Rarely can you go wrong with a ball of cheese but this was a silky, milky sphere of mozzarella, served with oranges, toasted walnuts & topped with truffle honey. Truffle honey. I tried to pair every bite with cheese, citrus, nut, and honey and each time I was successful, my mouth sang. To accompany my chews, my waiter suggested Rancoli Vermentino, a dry white with a crisp finish and enough adjacency to the fruit components of the burrata to make it make sense. Lovely. I forgot that I was in Jersey. For my main, I had a GF version of the pennoni alla genovese napoletana - slow-cooked caramelized onions & diced beef pasta. Simple but incredibly flavorful (which, I've learned, is what Italian food is all about). The plate was large and I could smell it before I saw it (a very good thing). To help bring the dish to life, my waiter suggested a warm red blend (earthy, cherry/berry forward). He was correct on the type of wine but I was a bit disappointed in the price point. Believe me, I know the ins and outs of the restaurant biz, but this glass should have been (at least) a couple of dollars cheaper (knowing what I could get a bottle for). This slight faux pas lessened my rating to a 4. Not the end of the world. Just know what you're paying for before committing. I was pleasantly full so I passed on dessert/coffee. Th NJ sales tax was less than I was used to but the dreaded credit card charge fee made an appearance. I probably spent more money on dinner than I would at present but I don't regret the experience. I slept very well that night. *There was a charge. Know before you go.
