Very convinient location for me. Huge parking lot with plenty of parking spaces. When you first enter, they have a bakery section with breads, pastries, and donuts. They have nice selections of fruits, veggies, and salads. They have great deals on frozen seafood, and my favorite are their mussels for only $3! They are delicious! Overall, it's similar to an Aldi, but I think they have more options, and you can't beat the bakery section. They have great deals on milk and eggs and yogurt options. It's a great place to come get some quick items you may need if you aren't planning on doing such a huge grocery haul. There are lots of good sale items as well. read more

You had one of your lady employee's Tanya harass my partner and me (10/7) by the way she was dressed. We are grown adults and working professionals. For someone as a store clerk to come up to us and disrespect us and causing a scene over the fact that my partner was wearing some blue jeans shorts as we entered your establishment is appalling. You would think we were stealing or fighting with someone outside by how low class of behavior your employee was acting. Unlike other people who would brush off this nonsense I have and will contact corporate/management and any other avenue I see fit until the employee face's disciplinary action. I like Lidl simply because I like trying new things and Lidl fits that bill with European goodies. I don't think we could do a weeks worth of grocery shopping here but that's okay considering that's now what we go for. Yummy bakery with croissants, French baguettes and German sourdough. My best friend raves about this store so when I arrived in Charlotte I had to go check it out. This store is easy to locate. It is at the corner of Margaret Wallace Rd and Idlewild Rd. and across the street from Harris Teeter. A note from my experience, do not turn on Margaret Wallace Rd off of Idlewild rd. If you do you will have to make a u- turn to pull into the parking lot. As you may know Lidl ( pronounced LEE-duhl) is a German based grocery chain. People like to compare it to Aldi, however, they are NOT the same company. One initial difference I must point out is that you do not need a quarter to use a cart at Lidl! Additionally, you can use coupons at Lidl. I also found that they carry more brand name items than the competitor. When you enter this store you are in the produce section and the bakery area. My research revealed that they bake goods several times a day! As you continue walking you have refrigerated and frozen items. The perimeter of the store is dedicated to refrigeration and freezer sections. The center aisles have your canned goods and boxed goods items. They have a section of non- grocery store items in bins on a few aisles. I saw a nice coat I liked for $29! Overall I can see why my best friend loves this store! You can find basically everything on your grocery list plus items you did not even know you needed. I found a 2 piece mixing bowl set for less than $6! I had to grab those. read more

Just casually walking around shopping while one of the employees decides to fake check on items on my aisle. Here's the best part. Even watched me and my gf scan items while hawking us down at self checkout. Gives off racist vibes for sure & the wild part about it. You hire white, black & hispanic folks and those the main people doing some dick riding while I'm grocery shopping. Makes me wonder if they do this to other people that don't look like me. We live a few streets over from this location and we have been patiently waiting for the grand opening of this store. I have never heard of Lidl before so it was neat to experience a new store on its first day of being open to the public. Right off the bat, the staff was super friendly! I hope that continues. The parking is decent for the spacing of the lot. It's pretty easy to get in and out of the center. I know how crazy it can get in that area at times, but it wasn't too challenging to get in and out of. The store is not massive but there are definitely a lot of products inside. I am a HUGE fan of pretzel bread and seem to have quite the difficult time with finding a store that consistently sells them. (I hope they sell pretzel bread year round). I was told they bakery goods are baked fresh daily. That's awesome! The produce selection was pretty decent. They have a lot of different kinds of protein to choose from. The prices on everything are pretty low. It was kind of weird seeing other products than food being sold. Like random clothing, hiking gear, car cleaners, etc. Check out was super easy. You can have an associate ring up your items or you can go through self checkout. I can't wait to come back. Great first experience. read more

In the past, I would have rated this particular LIDL 5 stars but I had a very sad and disappointing occurrence with the manager, and the cashier, being blatantly, dishonest, rude, and discriminatory towards my husband and myself. From June 2020 to my last day shopping in 2021, I spent a total of $3418.77 at this Lidl. I found that their selection complimented the discount choices, found at Aldi. Between the stores and Costco, they made up the majority of my household consumable spending. After an injury, I had to be sedated for scans and an MRI. This took an entire day, and I was exhausted and still recovering and my husband drove me home. On the way we passed the Lidl on Margaret Wallace Road at Idlewild and I remembered my daughter, asking me to bring her some yellow mums that we had seen in Lidl a few days before. My husband went inside to grab some items we needed, which included some wine, beer, ground beef, chicken thighs, veggies, fresh herbs, and some frozen desserts for the kids. I texted him that I was going to come inside to grab the flowers and see what else they might have. I didn't have my purse and was wearing yoga pants/loungewear and flip-flops and still had my hospital ID bracelet on. I met with my husband and found some other items, including spices and some other meats on sale and loaded them into the cart. I walked with my husband to check out, and he began to unload the groceries onto the belt and I patted his back and told him I was tired and was going to go back out to the car to sit and wait. The cashier stopped me and said "are you together?" My husband and I looked at each other and said "yes, we are married, but she is going to the car is that OK"? He said "she needs to show her ID". Mind you, my husband wasn't asked for his. He showed the cashier his own ID. I did not have any ID available as I had just left the hospital , and did not need/have it because I didn't shop for, touch, or purchase alcohol. After back-and-forth, the 25 year old manager was called over and he lied right to our faces and said that North Carolina requires that if a couple is together both must show ID if alcohol is purchased. I insisted that I was leaving and showed them my hospital discharge bracelet and explained that I had been there since 6 AM for a procedure and was tired and my husband was the one who had done the shopping and I was only getting some items that I promised my daughter and others I'd found on sale. The manager refused to show me in writing or on posted placard in view of the public anywhere on the property where North Carolina requires a couple to both show ID to buy alcohol. I insisted that no one else was being asked that I could only assume that it is because I am a POC and my husband is white. The cashier then went on a tirade and told me that he is "browner than I am and that he is gay and from Pakistan so he is a double minority and he is only doing his job" The manager then admitted after we had been publicly humiliated and lied to That they had been in trouble by undercover agents and in violation of alcohol laws, and we happen to be the people that they over policed and ended up lying to and making up false laws that didn't exist. We were given two options -show my ID or we were not allowed to buy ANY groceries and we were not welcome to shop at the store for 24 hours. I told the cashier I would have my son come to pick me up and take me from the store because he said I could not be on the property if my husband wants to buy the alcohol. Now that he had seen me he said that they could not sell me the alcohol even if I did leave and my husband was unable to buy. None of what they were saying was making sense, and it will take more than a yelp review to explain exactly what happened as I documented the interaction. What was ludicrous about the situation is that many times a mother and daughter could be shopping together, father and son, roommates, to best friends, etc. I have never heard of a single law, that if you are joined by others at a grocery store. Everybody in the party over the age of 21 has to show ID. We left without the $300+ of groceries and items and never set foot again in Lidl since. We went across the street to Harris Teeter and asked for a manager. They had the North Carolina alcohol laws available. My husband grabbed a bottle of wine and asked the manager could he purchase it. The manager said yes. He also did not ask me for my ID. My husband asked why I did not need an ID and the manager said because my husband already showed his it would be redundant to demand the spouse show ID when it was already verified by the purchaser. read more

So happy we finally got a Lidl in Matthews, if you get here early you can't beat the prices in produce , both regular and organic . What attracts most people here is the simplicity , bakery area , and bang for your buck in foods . I still like to go to other stores Bc Lidl isn't a full service grocery store , but for the most part it's a one stop shop filled with interesting finds as well . My top picks : Fruit especially their strawberries and grapes Avocados Veggies (fresh) Chocolate bars (the dark chocolate with pistachios )!!! Chuck roast, grass fed Croissants There's much more , but that's our staples . You will need to bring your own shopping bags , which I commend Bc we should've banned plastic bags everywhere by now . Today was my first day shopping at a Lidl and I must say I was VERY impressed with my overall experience. Right when I entered the door, the aroma from the fresh baked goods hit me! (I had to purchase a box of croissant as my friends have been raving about them!!) The store is very clean, the produce looks (and tastes) so fresh, and they have so many enticing deals!! The area in the back with all the clothes and knickknacks definitely caught my eye... Oh, and the staff is very nice and helpful! So glad to have found my new neighborhood grocery store. Wow this was my first time checking out a Lidl store. They don't have Lidl in the mid west or west of the states. I was surprised as to how great the prices were. I'm familiar with Aldi essentially they are the same but I feel that Lidl is on the better end and offers more choices. The customer service was great. I actually like the store I was one of those people who always wanted to shop in big namebrand stores I went in there one day out of curiosity and I was delighted when I went in and tried their orange juice. I'm a big connoisseur of orange juice funny enough but that's my thing I love orange juice and drink it more than I should anyway I'm used to buying simply orange or Tropicana Boy was I impressed their orange juice is awesome and they have cold pressed orange juice as well. I can honestly say that every couple of days I go back and I buy it because it's better than any orange juice that we have on the market right now in my opinion I also purchased a few other groceries and found that they also are a cut above even Harris Teeter Publix is still my go to and always will be; However during those times when I'm trying to save money like now when the economy is so uncertain and money is not as plentiful as it as it once was Lidl is my new best friend I'm glad that they put one of my neighborhood. I only wish they had a larger selection of certain things. read more
