I used these folks to get the heavy stuff moved for me. I will say this is the first time I have used movers -- always before I moved myself with help from friends. They were a little late, but that worked out for me and they did keep me informed of their arrival time -- I was running a little late myself. I did not use their truck, but had rented one before hand. They were very efficient and friendly, moved my things in a difficult and muddy environment with no complaints, even though I was not as organized as I could have been. I had done all my own packing, so did not use them to actually pack things, but they took good care of my appliances and exercise equipment etc. I moved these things into temporary storage. They had it all done in record time under the circumstances, gave me a very fair price and I would not hesitate to recommend them to friends. I would be very careful, as this company is very deceptive in their approach. They are not licensed or bonded and do not respond as a true Consumer Company. I paid in advance for an invoice to move goods, they cancelled on the first agreed date, and then never showed on the second agreed date. After chasing them for 30 days, they gave me an unacceptable answer for keeping my $540 advance payment. We had used Lickity Smith once before when moving into our apartment. Had an appointment for moving today August 30th for a truck and four movers. Lickity Smith confirmed on the 22nd. On Thursday the 29th, I texted and called to confirm a 10am arrival. No response. I tried again later that night, no response. On Friday the 30th (the day of the move), I tried to call and text multiple times. At no point did I receive any response, and I had to scramble to find movers available that day AND rent a U-Haul truck. HORRIBLE.. booked a move a few weeks in advance for 12pm on a Sunday. Didn't show up until nearly 4pm. He text that I had requested after 12pm .. ummm.. nope! Both my text and email confirmations state 12pm. Anyways, I ended up calling a different company for last minute moves n they came right away. Koality in Temecula is awesome. Contacted me with several traffic and ETA updates and price was better anyways. Poor communication and flakiness from this guy. Seriously.. I've attached a screenshot of our texts. All 3 of my calls during the 4 hours bounced to voicemail. Had he called to discuss being 4 hours late, instead of getting the run around, he probably wouldn't have lost my business. But avoiding calls, being so late AND having a Yelp track record of flaking wouldn't let me give the benefit of the doubt. Let me just start off with saying William dont even try to do what you did to these poor other customers telling them their reviews are lies you never moved them and they changed this or that! YOURE A QUACK! This sucks but I am passionate about the issues of this company and want to prevent anyone else from going through what I did. Moving is stressful as we all know, I wanted to use affordable movers again but they were busy on my days in question. I used Lickity Smith and they wanted to do a two day move, packing the first and moving the second. They did not ask to see my apartment first via face time/skype or to drive here which if they had they would have seen what they had to move and it would have been fine right? Likely not. They sent a woman here I never spoke to, to come and help "ME" pack up my stuff. Just one. When my money was going towards 3 men! She did not have enough boxes with her at all and one of the wardrobe boxes was completely ripped. The entire time any time I said something she said "well i dont have that much time today" or, "yeah but i have to go soon i want you to get your moneys worth" ironic! she left after just 2 hours and my apartment basically looked the same because I was not going to help other than little things which is what i stated in the email, i had other stuff to do! Next day comes, I admit I changed the arrival time an hour and a half later. Still, they said "we will be there at noon" did not complain or anything. Never once said anything about having another job to go to. Both movers were boys and both admitted that they were new, one 6 days and the other 2 weeks or so. William the main guy had a scowl on his face the entire time any time I asked for something (wrapping things mostly)! and i am not a picky or high maintenance person. They finished packing (somewhat), and loading their truck and I was leaving to go get my keys and sign my lease for my new place. I told my landlord i only had 15 minutes. i hadnt even gotten 5 miles away to get the money order when my phone buzzes and he says theyre at my new place already! he said they have another job to get to and only have 30 minutes!!!! they didnt unpack or unwrap anything and put my furniture just anywhere! he gave me a contract, he only brought one! he didnt even keep one for himself and why? because they dont sign it! if they signed it, theyd be liars. dont use if you dont want to be ripped off or if you value your stuff read more

My wife and I just had our move done yesterday by these gentlemen, and they exceeded every expectation we had. I am so impressed, I couldn't say enough positive things about them. A little background, I come from an expat family, and now military. It's fair to say that I have moved over 25 times, between three different continents, and these movers where some of the best I have worked with. They were quick; we lived in the third floor, NO ELEVATORS, and they had everything downstairs in less than 1 hour. We were quoted 3 hours, and they did it in a little more than 2 hours. Not only did they move all our items, but were kind enough to take all our trash to the dumpsters. Again, from the third floor. Communication was clear, no confusion, simple, sweet and to the point. Easiest and the most stress free move I've had in a minute. I will definitely be recommending them to all our military friends that are moving. They even remembered who I was when I made the appointment, & since last time they were great, I was excited to use them again. I would give 0 stars if possible. My family and I hired this company to help us move across state from CA to TX. They originally came with two u-pack pods for us to fill with our things but we realized we would be needing a third. Bill, the owner of the company, then up charged us for a third box. We then had the boxes moved to TX where they were put on a hold because Bill had neglected to pay the freight charges. We had to then have friends help us cover these charges. Finally after a week of waiting for our things to arrive to our new place, we received the 3 boxes, and the packing itself was in shambles. If you ever need a moving company, I highly advise that you DO NOT use these services, as they are unprofessional in all aspects, and should not be allowed to be a business. Showed up late, with a utility truck vs a moving truck to relocate items, folded a mattress IN HALF to stuff it into van, no proper covering, then proceeded to charge full cost for damaging moving items. This company is contracted by UHAUL which is surprising because it doesn't even come CLOSE to the experience you'd get customer service wise, when obtaining rentals. Very rude and distasteful. Treated the other mover with disregard as he had him carry the heavier side of the furniture although the first gentlemen was bigger built. Seeing all these poor reviews for their moves I guess I got lucky. First attempt, texted 1 hour after scheduled move saying they wrecked their truck and if we could the move on Tuesday. Kind of forced to say yes because it's the end of the month and everyone else is booked. Tried to confirm for my next day move by text, then email and calling with no reply. I hope more people see what they're getting into when dealing with these guys. I guess I dodged a bullet, but they really put me in a bind. I'm looking for movers with better reviews. I typically do not write reviews of this nature as I believe most people in business try to do their best for their customers. Some simply have a bad day so I give the benefit of the doubt when I receive bad service. In the case of Bill however, my judgement is not based on one bad day, it is based on the past month of numerous phone calls, texts, and emails as an effort to receive some personal items that he was storing for us. If you are considering doing business with Lickety Smith, I encourage you to take a few minutes and read not only this review, but several others that seem consistent with the experience that we had. I will start with our experience with Bill back in March of 2017 which actually was positive. He moved our belongings into our new home without issue. We were pleased and kept his number in case we needed his services again. Two years later, in February of 2019, we called Bill to move our belongings into two storage units. He and another worker loaded everything into the storage units but towards the end of job, there were a few items that did not fit. The items worth approximately $4000 and were: * Mattress * Bicycle * Large wardrobe box with numerous personal belongings * small end tables, one of which belonged to my wife's grandmother and had sentimental value It was late at night and the storage office was closed. Bill offered to store these for us and because it was the end of a long day for all of us, and with our previous experience, we trusted him to do this and graciously accepted his offer. We told Bill that it would be approximately one year before we needed his services again to move us into our home approximately 120 miles away which was being built. He indicated it would be no problem at all. On Jan 29, 2020, we texted Bill to let him know that our new home was ready and wanted him to move our belongings out of storage into our new home. Between Jan 29th and Feb 15th, we placed numerous calls, emails, and texts and never received a response. It was after this time period, that we thought something was wrong, and our first thought was for Bill's well-being. The thought of him being deceitful never crossed our mind. My wife sent him texts and emails asking if he was OK. Because there was no response, and we were reaching our move in date, we had no choice but to contact another mover. Because Bill still had some of our belongings, we decided to check out his website and it was then that we started reading some of the negative reviews on Yelp. If you read them, you will see that some of these reviews were from people who tried multiple times to reach Bill but to no avail. There were a few that identified experiences where Bill held onto their belongings until more money was paid, didn't show up at the agreed upon time and several others with different negative experiences. We immediately began to get suspicious as these instances paralleled our recent experience. After a few more tries to reach Bill from both my wife and I, we decided that it was time to warn people of Bill's lack of correspondence. My wife put a review on Yelp identifying what had happened. Within few days of posting this review, we received an email from Bill. He indicated that his stepmother passed away on Feb 3 and expressed extreme displeasure that we wrote such a review. We expressed our condolences and reminded him how many times we tried to reach him and asked Bill to call us so that we could resolve the matter quickly. He wrote back and indicated he would not contact us until the Yelp review was removed. Most legitimate businesses would put the customer first, call, and try to resolve the unfortunate situation. That was not the case with Bill and it was at this time, that we realized he was not someone that we would want to do business with but we still needed our belongings. I sent him numerous texts, emails, and phone calls simply asking him to call me so that we could resolve this issue. On Feb 14th, we decided to notify Bill that we would remove the negative Yelp review if he would give us back our belongings. We removed it on Feb 15th, and he wrote back the next day indicating he would meet us at our storage unit on Saturday Feb 22 either before 9:30AM or after 4:30 PM. I immediately wrote back and told him we would be there at 9:30 or earlier, but because we were driving over 120 miles and needed to rent a truck to carry our belongings, I asked him to please confirm. Between that day and Friday Feb 21, I called, texted, and emailed Bill numerous times to please confirm. We heard nothing. We decided to rent the truck and drive the 120 miles to meet him just in case he showed up. I called, texted, and emailed up until approximately 10 AM on that day, but never heard a response and he never showed up. I've not heard a word from him since If you are considering doing business with Lickety Smith, please reconsider. Read through all of the Yelp reviews and make your decision accordingly. read more

Received a text 15 min before they were scheduled to be at my house which was on a Friday stating they would have to postpone the move to Monday due to his Daughter was in the hospital. I replied back to him saying I hoped his daughter was ok but was there any way other guys from his crew could move us the same day. Never got a reply that day or even on Monday. Good thing I was able to rent myself a truck and get four guys off the street that Friday or I'd still be waiting for this company to communicate with me or move me. If you want your furniture nicked up, nothing reassembled correctly, and to be overcharged call these guys. It was one thing to be over charged, but the horrible way that they assembled my furniture was ridiculous. What caused me to finally write this review 2 months later is that I attempted to move 2 dressers to paint today. 1 had the foot fallen off and just placed and the other in my children's room had the mirror barely attached, when I went to move that dresser I caught the mirror from falling realizing that only 2 of the 8 screws were tightened. The guys that work for Bill are nice guys. I would say I paid about $400 more than I should have based on their rates. Overtime and double travel time for 2 trips because they showed up with 1 uhaul truck even though I paid for a crew of 4 guys. I hate the idea of writing a bad review because I understand that people are trying to make a living. If the Owner Bill had a little personality and was somewhat remorseful when I had pointed out the way my beds were unsafely assembled I would have never taken the time to make this post. Based on the past negative posts I wont' be surprised by a rebuttal. But to make it clear, I was not being evicted, I was moving to a more spacious home. Add me to the list of people that had many of their belongings stolen from bel air lickety-split. I have had my reviews taken down previously, so I will try again. Hired him in February 2019, also he brought the wrong size truck, but it appears he has done to others. When everything we're not fit in our storage unit, he offered to store it in his unit. As we were under pressure as the storage unit company was closed for the day, and we were leaving the state, we agreed to let him store it. Fast forward a year later and we had moved back into California After trying to contact Bill to obtain our mattress, bicycle, and many other items, It became clear to us that we were never going to get our stuff back. He refused to answer our calls, and eventually I would not even answer our emails. Additionally, after we were able to unpack the items that he did move into our storage unit, we found hundreds of dollars of items broken, even though I had taken hours to pack them all in bubble wrap. Please stay away from this company, it will cost you thousands of dollars, and hours of stress! They were great. We moved from two storage units into a different storage unit. I had used other movers to move to the storage unit and they did nothing to protect the furniture. Lickity Smith wrapped the furniture, padded the pictures and glass with blankets. They were fast, careful and courteous. And then they even unloaded a few items that I had needed from the storage unit into my house. It was nice to have no worries in an otherwise stressful situation. read more

"Intelligent" is the word that comes to mind when I think of Lickity Smith. I arranged a local move within Palm Springs for my brother (because he works nights). Since I was able to provide clear details about the from and to locations, we made price and schedule arrangements by phone and text. But the move was harder than I originally thought! Maneuvering the truck between carports at the new condo required precision driving. And the walk from the truck to the condo was very long because some entrances were unavailable. However, Lickity Smith was so efficient, the move time was super short. They took great care with the items of value. They kept in contact with me about arrival time. One item broke, they brought it to my attention immediately. This move could have been long and painful, but this was completely avoided because these guys are smart and work hard.
