My husband and I were in downtown Perry on a Friday night for the Bourbon Street Festival, just minding our business, when we noticed a food truck with an extremely long line and a steady stream of people walking around holding white boxes. I wasn't sure what the craze was, but I was determined to find out. One kind stranger saw our curiosity and let us in on the secret, those boxes were from Yodee's. She told us they were the best doughnuts she had ever had and insisted we had to try them... Say less...We got in line. Yodee's is a mobile food truck you can find throughout Middle Georgia on any random day. If you check their Facebook page, they post exactly where they'll be and for how long which is helpful because once you've had them, you'll start planning accordingly. The doughnuts are made fresh on site. You can literally watch them come out hot, get placed on racks, and see the glaze dripping down the sides as they prep them for sale. That visual alone is enough to test anyone's willpower. We ordered a variety, original glazed, chocolate glazed, and peanut butter glazed. These doughnuts are large. Not cute little bite-sized pastries. These are fluffy, golden, full commitment doughnuts. They were still warm when we received them. Now let me preface this by saying I eat a doughnut maybe once a year (got to maintain the girlish figure, you know ). But baby... it was worth it. The original glazed was my absolute favorite. Light, airy, perfectly sweet, and melt in your mouth good. The chocolate and peanut butter glazed were also delicious, but a little rich for me personally. If you love bold, sweet flavors, those will absolutely be your jam. These were hands down the best doughnuts I've had in years. Those long lines are long for a reason. If you see Yodee's Mobile Fresh parked somewhere in Middle Georgia and you love homestyle doughnuts, iced coffee, or a good frappe go ahead and get in line. I tasted of it and it would have been better without the avocado mash but that's just my personal preference. My daughter didn't care for it at all. The young man at the window was nice and polite. The sausages are good and wrapped in a gloriously soft bread layer. These days I usually get the sausage roll if I come in not knowing what I want. Service is quick and friendly, and prices are reasonable. It's a great place either to pick up a dozen doughnuts to share with the folks at work or to grab something when you've left the house without breakfast. Cochran is lucky to have this place.

Families were out picking strawberries in the patch, people were relaxing in rocking chairs on the porch with ice cream cones, the café was buzzing, and the roadside market was full of shoppers loading up on goodies. The place was busy but somehow still relaxing. We started in the roadside market where I immediately grabbed one of the little carts because self-control clearly wasn't part of the plan. I stocked up on fresh produce, preserves, ciders, wines, and somehow convinced myself I "needed" adorable wooden earrings from a local artisan. We sampled a few local wines and naturally left with several bottles. The market also has gifts, souvenirs, and and entire section dedicated to dogs/ furry pets. After shopping we headed next door to the café for dessert. They offer cobblers, cakes, pies, homemade ice cream, and enough sweet treats to make you abandon every diet plan you've ever created. My husband is a peach cobbler enthusiast, so ordering their famous peach cobbler was mandatory. According to him, it absolutely lived up to the hype. I went with the peach pound cake and it was moist, buttery, and delicious. Their breakfast and lunch menu also looked really good. If I were road-tripping through the area, this would absolutely be a stop for a meal. It's also definitely going on my list of places to take guests when they come visit Middle Georgia. What really tied everything together was the staff. Everyone we encountered was warm, welcoming, and full of genuine Southern hospitality.
