I really enjoyed my experience here. Went with a group and split lots of appetizers. I enjoyed all the appetizers a lot, especially the Brussels sprouts and short rib poutine (buffalo chicken, tuna tartare, truffle poutine, and crab cakes were good, but not as outstanding). I also ordered the crab cake entree - the appetizer was honestly better because the entree was drier comparatively and it also had a decent amount of filler. Still tasty crab cake though. Visited Lib's grill yesterday for happy hour for the first time. Our waitress was super kind and the food my friend and I had was amazing. The spinach salad was delish; however you do the cashews OMG!!! That's what made the salad. The deviled eggs with crab were good... but not my favorite. The fish tacos and shrimp and grits were also delish! We also had the seasonal martini... cucumber watermelon...definitely yummy. I look forward to visiting again read more

I'll start by saying that we are a regulars at Liberatore's in Perry Hall (probably spent several thousand dollars there this year)... We love everything about the place, especially the service. It can be a bit pricy, but it's worth it. The bartenders and waiters are very professional and attentive. We've been to Libs 6 times now and at this point, we've all but given up on the place. The last time we were there, my wife got very sick from something she ate. We decided to give it one more chance on Saturday afternoon (1/4/2014) and it was a mistake. We went for appetizers and a few drinks ($70). My wife order a Kettle One, Club Soda with a splash of Cran... They managed to mess that up. The bartenders must have been the Junior Varsity Crew... They are not very attentive and are very unprofessional. Perhaps it's because the Varsity Crew wasn't in yet for the night hours. I have to say the staff here is horrible compared to Liberatore's. We ordered a batch of chips, when they arrived they were not cooked and were still dripping with oil. When we sent them back, they looked at us like we were a-holes. I will say, that my experience with the oysters and the oyster shuckers (these guys are very nice) has been great. I come here just for the oysters... But when I can't convince my wife to come because of the food, poor service, and unprofessional conversations by the bartenders it's a real shame. We may give it another try again in the future, but for the time being, Liberatore's will be our go-to spot. I hope they upgrade the staff at Libs because this area is sorely lacking a place with that "city" vibe in the burbs! read more

Returned to Whitemarsh after moving away last year (home for holidays). Wandered into the new shopping area and found Libs Grill. Looked cute from the outside, so my husband and I went in. I really liked it, great ambiance - one side for quieter eating, and one side in a really homey bar area with TVs (not monsters, but enough so that you could tune in if you wanted). The place was really attractive, and we sat near the oyster shucker which was interesting in of itself! I don't eat them, but it sure took me back to the days of a little girl on the Chesapeake Bay. The staff was really nice - one of two waitresses chatted a bit - and they were not even our server. We loved Kerrie - she was a great waitress and she must be a mixologist too. She made this terrific pink grapefruit cocktail that I am dreaming of - I should have asked for the recipe! I had the crab soup (excellent!). Husband had the garden salad - which was a little boring - looked like the stuff you get out of a bag - but other than that we loved the food. Quick service, great crabcake, terrific dessert. Aside from the general stuff that you rate a restaurant on, I just liked the "feel" of the place. Comfortable, cozy, yet interesting and lively. Good decor. Although I live farther away now - I am back in the area every few months - and I have found a new great hangout. Highly recommend (but fix the salad!) read more

I actually registered for Yelp just to write this review. I don't know what restaurant some others on here went to--everything here was great. Went for dinner on a Saturday night-- it was pretty busy but we were seated immediately by friendly staff. The menu is amazing and I can't wait to go back to try everything. Great craft beer and nice wine selection. Immediately they brought ought the bread--soft pretzel rods with cinnamon butter which alone may bring me back. I ordered seared chicken with lobster home fries--there was a lot of lobster--everything was perfect. My fiancé ordered filet mignon with a fried lobster tail--steak cooked nicely and the lobster was fantastic too. We had Heath bar bread pudding for dessert --that was really good as was the brownie cheesecake. We dine out a lot so we are always looking for places with a menu full of yummy options--can't wait to go back. Oh and live music and a nice atmosphere too! read more

We've struck out twice at Libs - and made the mistake both times in coming on special family occasions. First was Fathers Day for brunch. Food was great, but after the food runner delivered our meals, we didn't see our server until I had to flag her down from across the room. Even then, she didn't offer to fill any of our empty drinks, she just boxed the leftovers and brought the check. She was obviously preoccupied with other tables she was assigned to in the bar - we were her only table in the dining room. Since we enjoyed the food at our first visit, my husband and I decided to give Libs another try last night for his birthday (June 21). We came before the dinner rush... No one at the front to greet us. We watched as all servers and managers stood in the back by the kitchen talking. Finally a bus boy came by and we asked if we could seat ourselves in the bar - he was very nice and apologized and pointed us to any table we wanted in the bar area. We took a hightop in the back, near the raw bar. Prime seating to listen to the waitresses and female bartender talk badly about the customers in the dining room. I've worked in the restaurant world for 10 years - I know it can be a frustrating job, but really? Take your conversation to the back of the house. We got the popcorn and bacon snacks - very good. Husband got the NY strip and he cleaned his plate. I got the seared chicken which was lacking a little flavor but the sides were very good. The real problem was that we had at least three people waiting on us. It started out good.. Bartender greeted us, another girl took our drinks and food order, then a third guy delivered the food and checked on us as we were eating. Everything was great until they cleared our plates and Never came back. All the servers walked past us over and over again. Another couple came in next to us and got bread (which we were never offered), drinks, and appetizers delivered. and still no one had even looked at us. We finally literally waved one of them to stop so we could ask for the check. We were never once offered dessert... Which was incredibly disappointing because my husband wanted dessert for his birthday. But at this point we had sat for an extra 20 minutes and my husband was angry and wanted to leave. I really think libs could be great but the servers are too busy standing around talking or covering each other's tables. One actually admitted that he thought the other one gave us our check. For it being relatively slow (plenty of open tables both times we were there), I don't understand. Servers need to follow all the way through until the end of the meal so that people don't leave on a bad note. Two disappointing meals.. Don't think we'll be back any time soon. read more

Have dined 5 or 6 times at Lib's Grill and was satisfied with both the food and the service. The fish tacos and the fried lobster tail are great! Last week tried the chicken fried steak, and if we hadn't brought friends along who had never dined there, I would have sent it back. Didn't want to create a fuss in front of others. and possibly influence their opinion. (I was the only one who ordered this dish) The chef needs to seriously rethink this dish. The texture of the meat was awful and tasteless, the breading looks and tastes like cardboard, and the carmelized onions add too much sweetness to the gravy. Over all Lib's is a good addition to the VERY LIMITED Perry Hall dining scene, and the oyster bar is terrific, so PLEASE either improve this dish or eliminate it. It's terrible. read more

My boyfriend and I went to Lib's Grill the other night for restaurant week. I recently moved to the area from Baltimore city and am always on the lookout for good restaurants. We were not disappointed at Lib's! We both had a cocktail to start. We stuck to the restaurant week menu because they gave so many good options. He got the oysters and I got the Thai spiced edamame for appetizers. For the entree, I ordered the salmon with Israeli cous cous and sautéed shrimp - this was delicious! I was pleasantly surprised with the portion size, too; I had to bring some home. My boyfriend got the Wagyu beef entree with mashed potatoes and green beans. The beef was perfectly cooked, flavored and melted in your mouth. The Heath bread pudding was an awesome and scrumptious end to my meal. My boyfriend got the cheesecake, which he said was one of the best cheesecake he ever had. This will definitely be a go-to place for us! read more

Libbs Grill is a wonderful little American food restaurant in the heart of Perry Hall. Having replaced the middling Manhattan Grille that stood in this location for several years, they have shed the specter of mediocrity that hung over that establishment. A complement of raw oysters from around the country will get you started with a roster of apps and flatbreads that will often prevent you from even making it to the other sections of the menu because you will simply end up ordering 5 of them and just sharing the likes of mini empanads, shrimp and grits, mini crabcakes, or some of the best fish tacos you've had just to name a few. If you do make it to the sandwiches and entrees the shortrib sandwich with a couple large crispy onion rings and a horseradish sauce will provide plenty of richness, while a beautifully simple Pork chop dish will make you think of being home at momma's. First, let me say if Yelp allowed half stars, this would be a 4 1/2 star rated review. But they don't, and it isn't quite a 5 star restaurant for a couple of reasons. 1) They only have white bread. Two of us had their excellent Baltimore Sandwich (Crab cake, house made bacon, shrimp salad on three pieces of non-descript white bread. Don't get me wrong - the ingredients are the star of the sandwich, and can stand on their own. The crab cake had excellent flavor, the shrimp in the shrimp salad was perfectly cooked without too much mayonnaise, and the bacon was crisp, thick cut and had a great flavor. But a sturdy toasted rye would have allowed us to pick up the sandwich and taste everything at once. Then there was the surprising lack of options for the vegetarian in our group. They have an excellent grilled cheese - with red dragon cheese (cheddar cheese with mustard seeds), and she was planning to have tomato soup with it. However, upon checking with the kitchen, our very friendly perky sever was informed they have chicken broth in the base. But as the kitchen said, "only a little". Well, you can't be only a little vegetarian, so she had to order a side - plain baked potato. Our other diner ordered the fillet and ate every bite. He said it was cooked to order, favorable and very tender. We shared a heath bar bread pudding with a scoop of salted caramel ice cream. It was a perfect ending to an almost perfect meal. I should end by saying reservations are a MUST, especially on weekends. We were seated 20 minutes past our reservation time, no big deal. But those that appeared without a reservation were told the wait was 'at least" an hour. The bar was packed when we arrived, so most people who didn't have a reservation just left. read more

Today I was in with my girlfriends for my birthday and unfortunately did not have the same experience. The food was amazing, but the service was not. We had Danielle as our server, and it seems she was attending the whole bar area (behind the bar and the floor). So whenever we needed a refill, we had to go to the bar to tell her. She never came over and asked if we needed one, we had to go to her. Also when it came to the checks, she just assumed whatever cash was in there was hers! This was my second time visiting Lib's grill. The first time was a Sunday afternoon and it was a great experience. Walked in got a table, service was great, food was awesome. I was disappointed on my second visit for as my boyfriend and I chose Lib's for our belated Valentine's day date. We walked in on a Saturday evening around 6 pm. The hostess told us the wait would be 30 to 40 minutes. We decided to wait because we had such a great experience the first time and we understood it was a Saturday night and restaurants are busy. We stood by the door and watched people come in and be seated right away. Some had reservations and some I don't believe did. The hostess just kept looking at me and looking at others. There were tables that were empty, perhaps reservations however it was becoming very annoying waiting when person after person walked in the door and was seated. Finally, after waiting almost 50 minutes the hostess came over and said we have a table available. We ordered dinner and felt rushed the entire time to eat because there were so many other people waiting we felt as though the wait staff just didn't care. We wished it would have been a better experience. Not sure we will be visiting anytime soon and if we do I will most certainly be calling ahead for wait times. read more

I am reluctant to submit this review because I don't want this place to become too popular where they have absurd wait times. I see some reviews that are not so good, maybe they had bad luck? I worked in the service industry for many years and this place rocks. They have been so good every time I think they deserve this review. My girlfriend and I love to eat out. We first went to this place on new years day because not many places were open. We loved it and have been back 4 times since. Every time, the service has been outstanding and food great. My daughter picked me up after work and off we went. I've been anxious to try this place as I love oysters. As we entered everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming... nice. We were waited on immediately and as it was our first time there, our server explained all that was on the menu and answered all our questions competently. My daughter got the scallops and risotto. Little too salty for me but my daughter loved it and as she has had risotto quite a few times and I never have, I'll go with her. I got steamed clams which were not like the Maine clams which I deeply miss but still delicious and 3 different kinds of oysters. The oysters! Soooo good! The service was impeccable. Attentive but not hovering. Never had to look for her wanting something. My only little teensy-weensy complaint was the house salad. I love salads and was disappointd with this one. Zero taste and not too sure how fresh the two or three cucumber slices were, or maybe they were zuchini. Just sort of nothing. I've worked in a 3 star restaurant before and I was always amazed at the delicious dressings chef made. I had no idea dresings could taste like that. I was hoping for something like that.
