Lovely experience & great food. Our waiter was Mr. Kasey, his service was impeccable. Drinks always stayed filled. Not once were we waiting on him. 9.9/10 for the service. As for the food, I would give it 8.9/10. The cheese pull unbelievable, the filet cooked to perfection, the redfish beautifully on a bed of some Jamaica rice mixture (similar to jerk, but creamy). Upscale option in the AP. This place is close to me and it's taken me a while to find a second to dress up and unwind but I finally made it in. The place is small but quaint and the service was wonderful. Make a reservation because as mentioned this place can't sit too many people at once. The crawfish Mac was the key star here. It was cheesy and delicious. The red fish was cooked perfectly and my hubs said the smoked old fashion was number two out of the many he has tried. First of all, I would like to say in the past I have had nothing but great experiences here. Tonight, a group of my girlfriends and I were very caught off guard when the server asked us, mid-meal, if we would be willing to get up and move from our table to go outside because others needed to sit where we were. We had just gotten our food, although we had been there drinking and eating appetizers for roughly 2 hours at this point. We were basically forced out, when we were not done eating. We were given to go boxes and our tickets, and felt VERY uncomfortable. Meanwhile there were 3 open tables available for seating. The way this was handled, when we are not frugal in our spending/tipping for the night, was totally inappropriate and uncalled for. We are very disappointed in the service, especially when one of the girls with us, has a locker there (which they did not even know). This is no way to treat loyal customers. Highly recommend proverbial wine and provisions for their service and recommendations over this place, if you need an alternative. read more

I came here with my two girlfriends to end a beautiful day out together. We did not have a reservation, but were seated right away and enjoyed cocktails and appetizers. The Lavendar Affair was superbly delicious and the truffle fries are to die for. The Creme Brulee had not set properly, and the custard was a bit runny, but the sugar cracked perfectly and the flavors were divine. The entire vibe of this place is dark and masculine, but also so chill and quiet just like a library. The portraits of great writers also adorn the dark walls adding to the ambiance. Called last minute hoping to get a reservation. The guy who answered was completely accommodating. He said they had a small lounge section and mentioned that he could reserve it for us. When we got there she sat us. It was a small table in the back with a very short table. If your there for only drinks and to socialize it's perfect. However we were planning to eat a lot. We saw a few seats at the bar and asked if we could move and they were absolutely okay with it. When we sat at the bar, the bartender was wonderful. Drinks : The gatsby 6/10. Idk why but I didn't love the smell which made it hard to sip a lot. Lemon drop = one of the best I've ever had. It was smooth and refreshing and not overpowering Chocolate covered strawberry = I could take it or leave it. Almost taste like too much cream? And it looks weird when things settle Moscow mule 7/10. Taste like a good refreshing Moscow mule which I adore. Food: Meatballs 8.5/10 absolutely delicious and moist with a nice texture on the outside Egg rolls or spring rolls 9/10 spicy but absolutely amazing would order again. Steak flat bread 3/10 I'm spoiled with bin 77 steak flatbread and this one just can't compare. Too much sauce on it you can't even taste the steak. Burrata salad 8/10 refreshing and a wonderful thing to split if you have someone to do so. Crawfish mac n cheese 5/10 To be fair I'm biased I'm never a fan of crawfish mac n cheese I'm more of a lobster Mac n cheese fan. Idk what it is about crawfish with the Mac n cheese. But it never pairs well for me. Black truffle fries 9.5/10 Perfectly crisp and the best size. Comes with a garlic ketchup and a horseradish. Which were amazing choices. The restaurant is fairly new and the atmosphere and decor are fantastic. It has a darkish interior which I rather prefer for a peaceful meal. A more adult type of establishment it was not noisy at all. Everything ordered was delicious and well prepared. Nothing on the menu disappointed us. The service was lousy. Our waiter was inattentive and forgot about us for long lapse while serving all the tables around us. Definitely feel let down for the price we paid and the quality of everything else. The Library is very close to where I live in Pelican Crossing. I wish they weren't closed on Sundays and Mondays, but the times I have been there I sat at the bar. Also, don't understand why they close at 10pm when most people stay open much later than that. There was no offer to, nor chance of, correcting the error on their part. I was with my two parish priests and was not going to be angry about this. Instead, I ended up having the same dish that I had for lunch at another restaurant. No manager came to check on us- something a "high end" restaurant should always do. Service was quite slow. Love the concept of the drinks having names of writers and poets. All the ones we tried were good, but I do not remember which ones we had. For the appetizers have had the tuna tart, lamb empanadas, meatballs, wagu flat bread, crab cakes, house bread, and shishito peppers. The crab cakes were probably my favorite but all of them were very good. Entrees have tried the gnocchi, filet, scallops, and the fish. You can not go wrong with any of those choices. For such an elegant and intimate place I would think the drinks would match but sadly you get a lemon wedge and that is all. Even the coupe glasses weren't all that fancy but that's ok, they tasted fantastic so kudos to the bartender! We decided on just appetizers so the sliders, Asian rolls, guacamole ceviche and artichoke flatbread. Everything came out lovely except the flatbread was cold. So we went here last night. Walked up and the place looked like it was closed. We timidly opened the door and saw the hostess and a few tables with people. They had sun shades on the windows that they didn't raise at night. So you don't know if they are open or not. Weird. The place is called "Library"... not a single book as decor, yet there was a wall to the left when you walk in of a really big honeycomb design. Odd bc they don't have drinks or food with honey. Or if they do have a drink with honey it's just one. Not enough to dedicate a wall to that. I'm being picky because this was a bad experience. The poor hostess had NO idea what she was doing. She asked if we had a reservation and we looked around, saw about 5 empty tables, and said no. She said "oh well we don't have any open tables right now. But we could seat u by the fireplace or u can make a reservation for 8pm." It was 7:15 when we walked in, 75° outside and she said we could sit by the fireplace???? And yes, it was on and blowing heat (electric). THEN we sit by the fireplace and ask the hostess when she walks by , after about 10-15 mins of being ignored but servers walking by , if we could put out names down for that 8pm spot..."oh I don't know, the servers might get upset, let me ask." She disappeared upfront and when she finally walks by about 5 mins later going to the kitchen she ignores us. I have to flag her down when she comes back out to ask if she was able to ask if we could have that reservation. She said "oh let me ask". By this point I'm livid. No one has said hi to us, brought us water, nothing. FINALLY a server sees we are there an no one is taking care of us and he moves us to a table and then things get better. But then my food comes out and my chicken in my pasta is BURNT!!! Like to a crisp. I could only eat about 5 pieces of it. This was a bad experience. The hostess was an IDIOT! Now, she may have been new and not fully trained so that's on the management. But still. I would not recommend this place. It's trying VERY VERY hard to be "cool" and it's not succeeding. We drove to gonzales to the Library after hearing some girls chatting about it, so off we went. We went with friends and we both did a little homework looking at reviews and pictures. Our waitress was the bomb. She knew which drinks were great and was very accommodating to our old lady requests. Our favorite thing was the Brussels sprouts, my friend loved the burrata salad, honestly everything was great, except the steak. It was cooked perfectly but dang it could have used some salt and pepper. The crab cakes had a spicy bite that I loved. Atmosphere was on point, but it was very HOT. Needed some airflow! Once again not a large menu so our table covered just about all of the entrees and everyone seemed happy with their choices. Plenty of wine choices and a fun drink menu to choose from. Located right off of Hwy 44 in Gonzales you wouldn't expect to step inside this plain outer white building to a dimly lit, speakeasy style bar with an upscale food menu that offers anything from black truffle fries to crème brûlée. We opted out of Taco Tuesday for this treat around 5pm and was promptly greeted to a comfortable plush style table setting. With ample alcohol offerings we choose our first round of cocktails: Pride & Prejudice and Catcher in the Rye. For our dinner we choose a sampler of small plates: Bluefin Tuna Tart, Shrimp Ceviche & Guacamole, New Orleans Crab Cakes, and Wagyu Sliders. Drinks were tasty and met our expectations. The food? Well it actually exceeded! The Wagyu sliders were cooked perfectly, the Bluefin Tuna Tarts had the perfect amount of sweetness between the raw tuna and the apple, the ceviche-guacamole portion was ample.
