    Pepperjack boudin dip
    Allaina F.

Rouj Creole has a very solid happy hour that I truly enjoyed. We tried the pepperjack boudin dip that was really good but it would've been even better if it was really hot. The smoked brisket arancini was such a treat! They're plated on a lake of gravy which is delicious as well. I tried french 75 that was pretty good as well.

Dining that is conveniently located to shopping, medical facilities, and condo living! Convenient parking with excellent service! Contemporary ambience with booth, table and bar seating. Thoroughly enjoyed the patty melt and the crabcake is to die for! Baton Rouge has so many good dining options and this is one of them!

Visiting Baton Rouge and stumbled across this place on someone's Instagram. We went right at 1:00, but I didn't realize they were serving brunch at that time. I didn't want soup, salad, or a sandwich so my only other choice was breakfast food. I ordered the grits and grillades, my mom and cousin did the fish and grits, and my aunt did the shrimp poboy. The waiter said the poboy was huge, but we weren't expecting it to be how big it was. They were not stingy with the shrimp at all. My aunt thought the shrimp could've been crispier but that the poboy still had a good flavor. My mom and cousin enjoyed the fish and grits. They were jealous that my food came with a biscuit and theirs didn't lol. My food was good but it was kind of salty for my liking. Our waiters were nice and the food didn't take long to come out. Overall it was a cute place and I'm sure it would be nice for dinner.

OH MY GOODNESS! Everything, absolutely every part of the dinner we have couldn't have been better. Just WOW! The food options on menu were refreshing to my eyes! The options reached far more than typical of Cajun, Creole flavors of what I expect as a restaurant that serves local cuisine. I was torn between lamb and duck entree. I ended up choosing lamb and I should make my next reservation soon to try the duck! The red wine from Oregon complimented PERFECTLY. It was just phenomenal!!!

Personal Lemon drop flight, French 75, and other cocktail

I really enjoyed this place for the drinks and atmosphere! It was the perfect place for my twins and I's 27th birthday dinner! The lemon drop martinis we got in all the flavors- strawberry, blueberry, and mango plus the French 75s were amazing! The Cobb salad was also great! My only complaint was the crawfish cream sauce on my steak. The crawfish tails were very fresh, fishy/unseasoned like and really took from the overall enjoyment of the steak/cream sauce combo. The garlic mash potatoes were perfect coupled with the steak I just hated that the crawfish were so disappointing. The Thai shrimp app was also delicious. Honestly also think they're a bit overpriced for the portions and food quality but would come again for their happy hour. The drinks were 10/10. Service , the wait staff, and our personal waitress were also great!

About tonight.... Stopped in for a quick bite and wow... just wow... The house chardonnay was fabulous and I was in the mood for Eggplant so tried the Eggplant + Crawfish. Unbelievable! Hit every culinary note possible. How did I not discover this before?!? We decided to order off the "Lent Features" menu and split the Shrimp Arrabbiata Pasta. From the second it was set on the table a beautiful Smokey bbq smell hit us from a wonderful sauce. It was delicious!!! The only critique is that I wish it had come with a small piece of bread for soaking up the leftover marinara. Afterwards, we had an Apricot Old-Fashioned. I will tell you this... if you truly LOVE bourbon and Kaleb is bartending, you have got to try one. I have had these here for years but this one hit all the notes! Perfectly done and NOT too sweet (thank goodness). Ethan G was our server and he was fabulous! This is one of our favorite places because it has everything. Fabulous food, fabulous service and fine crafted cocktails.

Rainy Wednesday night in BTR I met a friend for dinner at Rouj. His family are regulars at Rouj and he chose the restaurant - a good choice Environment is upscale but not stuffy and a nice place to grab a happy hour drink We started with the smoked brisket arancini - delicious! Crispy and hot with plenty of gravy to mop up - easily big enuff for 2 to share For entree I had chicken paillard, chicken cutlet, beef dirty rice, haricot verts, tasso cream sauce - honestly one of the best pan fried chicken dishes I've had. Cooked perfectly, not dried out, tasso cream sauce was great! When in BTR Rouj definitely warrants consideration for your dinner needs

Continues to be some of my favorite seafood in town! I always have to get the eggplant. Had dueling bowls of gumbos and finished both! Love the dark roux of the duck and andouille, and the tang of the seafood gumbo. Our waiter was wonderful, quick and attentive. Helped us celebrate my birthday with a treat too good I forgot to let me phone eat ;)

She came across as short, unfriendly, and overall not very pleasant. I first ordered a Banana Foster's Martini, but she came back and said they didn't have the ingredients. No problem--I asked for an Espresso Martini instead. A few minutes later, after bringing everyone else's drinks, she returned and simply said they couldn't make that either and asked if I wanted something else. At that point, I just declined. When it was time to order, our table had nine people. She took my husband's order, then went around the table taking everyone else's order. By the time she got back to me, she said, "Okay, is that it?" I had to remind her that she hadn't taken my order yet. I ordered the crab and corn bisque, a salad, and the stuffed catfish with creamed spinach. The salad came out quickly and was very good. Then everyone else at the table received their meals while I only received my bisque. After waiting, I was told my stuffed catfish "didn't come out right" and had to be remade. At that point, I honestly wondered if it was a joke. It wasn't. By the time my entrée arrived, everyone else was nearly finished eating. To the restaurant's credit, they did remove the stuffed catfish from my bill, and I appreciated that. However, the entire experience left me feeling overlooked from start to finish. My biggest suggestion would be for our waitress to work on her customer service. A smile goes a long way. Saying things like "Give me that plate," slamming cups onto the table, and appearing annoyed throughout the meal doesn't create a welcoming dining experience. Hospitality is just as important as the food, and I hope this feedback is taken constructively.

When did dirt become "seasoning." Unless y'all have invented invisible Cajun dirt seasoning. Customers do not expect to purchase filthy, dirty, cold, crabs from a company hailing an 'outstanding, legendary reputation as a top-tier local institution, highly praised for its exceptionally fresh Gulf catch and serving quality food.' When returning the crabs for a refund, the lady giving the refund trying to convince my husband to keep them dirty cold things said, "We sell crabs at room temperature. We don't sell hot crabs." Ya'll the receipt clearly says, "HOT CRABS." Did she not realize the infraction she admitted! She basically confirmed they commit food violations, not keeping food at proper temperature!! How about that? He told her to refund our money back. Cleanliness and proper food temperature matter and this is not the first time I have returned dirty, cold, CRABS, back for a refund. Your hot food portions also have shrunk considerably yet your prices had increased tremendously. People are paying more for less. Tony's, this horrible economy does not support greed, especially dirty greed especially where improper food handling or poor food prep can lead to food borne illnesses. Guess who's leading the pack!!! "Tony's Seafood: "Located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the largest seafood market in the Gulf South operates under a strict operational standard that prioritizes extensive washing and sorting of live local blue crabs and crawfish prior to boiling or retail packaging to strip away pond and bayou mud." Louisiana Crawfish Company "instruct to physically rinse mud and marsh grit off blue crabs before they hit the boiling pot." As the song say, "You better shop around."
