Wow, what a fantastic find especially after just returning from three weeks in Europe and experiencing all the great gastronomy there! Libertango is a hidden gem in Sandy and has only been here for seven months! We couldn't believe how great the service was within the first 10 minutes. We had three servers helping us. The wine selection is fantastic and highlights some of the beautiful unique areas of Argentina. The food was phenomenal, the steak cooked just right, and the sauces were to die for. We were so fortunate to sit down with the owner, Jorge, who share to story being a restaurant here in Brazil, and then coming over here, four years ago, and having a dream to start here in South Salt Lake! He is such a great guy, and really puts his heart and soul into this and has even made the recipes of the sauces from his family tradition! So glad he is nearby, and we will be frequenting this for a little taste of culture, awesome food and ambiance and excellent service. read more

This place is amazing! Perfectly done steak, the right way. Truly authentic Argentinian style of cooking. This was the best cut of steak I've ever had and it was perfectly prepared. We also tried the Provoleta Dehumada appetizer and it was insanely good. The Arroz con Queso side was just right for two of us to share. It was rich and delicious and paired well with our steak. For dessert we did the Romeo y Julieta. Wow. So great. The service was friendly and informative. They did a great job of explaining where their recipes and styles come from. Overall one of our favorite places to eat. Save up your pennies though because it's an expensive night out. read more

We held a corporate event over lunch and it was incredible! First, the food was amazing! I loved the creamed corn and the steak with chimichurri the most. Their chicken breast was also really tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. Second, the AV equipment they had set up for us worked well for presenting to the group and employees that couldn't attend in person were able to watch the presentation remotely. Argentine steakhouse. Romantic and hip atmosphere. Staff were incredibly nice and informative. Everyone looked very on point. We most enjoyed the Burrata and sides. The steaks were okay; we were a little underwhelmed by the quality of the steak for the price and they were a bit overcooked (10oz flank steak and 12oz New York). The sauces they came with were very good. Overall, will definitely try again. Still worth the price point due to service and atmosphere. read more

Unique flavors make this place a must try. The south end of the valley has been in need of more high end dining options and this place fits the bill. Normally, steakhouses are boring. Anyone can slap a cut of beef on the grill. But here, the Argentinian twist brings the dishes to life. And not just the filets, but delicious and creative side dishes as well. Service was exceptional as well. I demand a high level of it, and am far too often let down in Utah when it comes to that, but Libertango is the exception. This place was so unique and every single thing that we got was amazing. The service was great and the servers were very welcoming and helpful. We got both the pork belly and some sort of provolone appetizer. The pork had the texture of a muscle (seafood) but both appetizers were very good. For my entree, I had the lamb chops with saffron rice.... Amazing as well. They give you a lot of food too, but it all tastes and feels very fancy still. Really really good. I would not recommend Libertango. This is not a kid friendly restaurant and the staff let you know it in a demeaning manner. The food was subpar and the service was not on par for the price point. It pains me to write this... I lived in Argentina for some time and was thrilled to find an Argentine style steakhouse.... We tried this restaurant twice in one week! Once for lunch and the next time for dinner! Both times were fabulous! The food was delicious and the ambiance just as great! The second time, the owner took the time to sit with us and chat for awhile. He showed us the mechanics of his giant broiler grill that is the focal point of the restaurant! We tried a new place for our date night. There was no hostess at the front when we walked in and we did have to wait several minutes until one came. Not a huge deal, but several at the bar and one employee could have at least greeted and said someone will be right with you. Foyer of restaurant is very nice, pretty large, but nicely decorated and has a comfortable couch if waiting. We had no reservation but didn't wait long to be seated. Although I'm not exactly sure why we had to wait as all the tables were definitely not full, nor did they become full while we ate our meal. We were seated. Tables and decor of tables are unique. Table does sit a bit higher than most tables and their menus are lite up, iPad like. I liked that as it was dimmer in the restaurant and I could actually see my choices, the menu was a bit bright for my date. Here's where it started to get iffy. We opted for tap water. Which we got a half a wine glass full with no ice. We had to ask for ice twice before it was brought. At no other time during our meal was our water refilled. We noticed this right away and limited our drinking of our half filled water glass to sips. The pre meal bread with garlic butter was tasty. The waiter started out nice. He had suggestions, which is very normal for any restaurant. The minute we ordered and he realized we were sharing everything changed. He became short in speech, clipped, still polite, but you could tell he was annoyed and it showed. My date and I share a lot. Not because we can't afford not to. We actually can quite easily afford to get our own meal. We just don't like being stuffed sick (we don't each eat a 16 ounce steak just one person plus a side and a appetizer....seriously we can't consume all that), and we don't like warming steak up for leftovers. We eat at Fleming, Market Street Grill, Harbour Seafood and Steak, The Capital Grill, Texas Roadhouse etc. No other restaurant has ever batted an eye when we share or changed how they treated us and sounded to us. The meal itself was very good. Our appetizer, steak and side were delicious. The employees did come to clear our plates as they emptied and to be fair we could have requested more water, but I feel at the prices they are selling their food, it seems they are trying to push a more elegant and posh dinner place, they should be more on top of drink refills without having to be asked. That is one mark of a good waiter/waitress. I can't really say the service was slow, the appetizer came out in a timely manner as did the main meal, and the empty dishes got taken away in a timely manner as well. But there did seem to be lulls. And I feel those would have been filled with the refilling of the drinks. The last turn off where my date stated, well we won't be coming back here, is when we got the check. Once again, the pricing of the food and decor leads you to feel like they are trying to run with the big dogs, but their check came a paper receipt just placed on the table. We paid with a card and the waiter brought back the iPad like thing to sign, saying sign here.....with the 20% tip already checked off. And stood there the entire time while we looked at it and signed it. Once again, we eat out often, we are also good tippers, and yes usually 20% even when the service is lacking. But, when the end is presented as it was - clicking the 20% FOR us, what if we wanted to do a 15% tip- and the waiter stands at the table waiting (as if to make sure he gets his 20% because we shared a meal? I don't know). We can pay similar prices at The Capital Grille and Flemings and get quality food AND quality service while being treated as guests and welcome instead of bothered we came in to share a meal. They also have a little quote somewhere on their menu about how it's done in their country? I can't remember the whole thing, but something about if you need anything raise your finger or something like that. As I stated before, we have been to many good restaurants and the ones that are really excellent ones.....are the ones whose waiters anticipate your needs before you even ask among other things. So for us, while the meal was tasty, it was unfortunately a one and done restaurant. First impressions are big for us, and this one failed to hit the mark. read more

I like this place. Will for sure go back. The service was excellent. They have a big wood stoked broiler/grill cooking the fish and steaks. It is interesting to see this at work. The steaks were very good. There are not many steak houses at this end of the valley so I hope they make it. They give different steak condiments to try. My first thought was why would I ruin a beautiful piece of meat with a sauce. I tried them and a couple of them were very delicious. By the time we finished drinks, appetizers, bread, and the meal, there was not any room left for dessert. I want to go back and try some of them. Two Thumbs up. read more

The most melt-in-your-mouth Ribeye I've ever had in my life! Definitely get the 18oz Wagyu. The smoked provolone app is the best starter. I also love their Chorizo. They've got excellent service. They definitely make you feel welcome and attended to. Fantastic atmosphere. Locally/family-owned. Absolutely the best date night dinner anyone could ask for. The service was ok considering we sat at the bar, but it took several minutes to get anything because the bartender was making drinks. But if you don't have the time to properly serve people then don't offer full service at the bar. Very nice ambiance, but you can't taste ambiance. Incredible steaks, sauces, wines and desserts! The decor is sultry and romantic yet fit for families (the closed foyer and single stall restrooms made for a perfect baby soothing options). Everyone we talked to in the staff had an incredible story and we felt like part of the family leaving on a Tuesday evening. My wife and I have been to Libertango multiple times and have always loved our time. We heard about a cool special they were serving where you can pick multiple different types of steaks and two cocktails. We decided to go with it, even though it was expensive and when we finally got our cocktails (20 minutes later) there was clearly no alcohol in either of them. And it was probably because our waiter forgot to check your IDs and came back 10 minutes later to look at them so he had already placed our order and they did not add alcohol to them. Unfortunately it took over an hour and 20 minutes to receive our meals and our waiter only checked on us once the entire time. The table behind us had also been waiting a very long time for the food and the manager ended up going to them and comped their meal for them. We overheard it and were frustrated but decided not to ask for the manager and get our meal comped as well but felt like he should have understood the situation and approached us without needing to ask because we were CLEARLY frustrated. Unfortunate, because we do like this place, but it was a huge letdown last time we went. read more

I've never had service or attention to detail like I did here. The food and ambiance was perfect for celebrating our anniversary. Asking any questions were met by thoughtful answers with the why behind it helping me learn a lot about meat and more. Meat came out more rare than expected but I did plan on this. (Asked for medium rare and was more of a cool center - maybe ask for a step more done than usual.) Overall, an incredible experience. We will be coming back! read more

I don't know if they just had an off night or what. But we ordered 18oz picania and 14oz ribeye to share as a family of 4. We asked for medium and got medium rare that was very raw. We sent it back with a reminder we would like a medium. While waiting for the main dish to be back, we finished all the rest of the food: sweet potato fries, Brunos Ares salad and a saffron rice, we got the meat back as "medium well". The picania was delicious. The ribeye not even comparing in flavor to the picania. we ate the meat on its own since it took so long to get it back. The saffron rice was off to me. Like cooked in water from the tap. We enjoyed the sweet potato fries and ordered more. $14 for two little baskets of sweet potato fries dawned to me as we ordered them. Kinda ridiculous. $68 picania and $42 steak eaten as just meat not a meal.. The host was nice and staff tried to be accommodating but they only had 1 booster seat for my kid and we needed 2 so my 6yrs old had to seat on me the entire meal to reach the table. That wasn't fun at all. While operating a sharp knife to cut the meat. The place is nice. In a Groucho sort of way. Which means cow hides as decorations, pictures that are kinda dated and decor that is ok. I read the raving reviews and wish we got what they got. I would have tried again if we weren't visiting only. Expected more from this place for the amount. read more

WOW, we had the best evening here! The food was fantastic - steak cooked perfectly and every side is UNBELIEVABLY GREAT - do not miss the smoked corn! We also had the smoked provoleta appetizer which was soo unique and a perfect starter. Even the grilled veggies were grilled perfectly and not over-seasoned. Everything was delicious. It was a birthday, so we tried 3 desserts as well, each one was FABULOUS, but do not miss the wine-soaked pear - unlike anything you've ever had, and really amazing. What really wowed us though were the servers - these kids were the ultimate mix of professional, friendly, and really knowledgeable and attentive. Joe at the bar is SUCH a pro-he really knows his cocktails and even came to the table to discuss them and make suggestions...he even knew how to make a perfect New York Sour, try it if you get a chance! This place blew my mind. We were in town visiting from Seattle, and came here for a family dinner. Throughout my career, I've eaten at some of the highest end steakhouses on the west coast, and this place blew them all out of the water. It's rare to find a place that does EVERYTHING on the menu exceptionally well. This place delivered above and beyond. Not only was my New York Strip steak perfectly cooked and seasoned, but the accompanying sides basically stole the show. If you find yourself here, you HAVE to try the cheesy rice, creamed corn, grilled vegetables, and the sun dried tomato rice.
