We love a nice higher end steakhouse, so when we saw this one pop up in the south end of the Salt Lake Valley, we were excited to try it. Great first impression right when you walk in. Then the glowing tables were a cool attention grabber. Very unique. But then came the food. The basket of bread was A+. Then the entree. DAMN do they have some great offerings at pretty reasonable prices. I always like to get the wagyu when it's an option, and Libertango has more wagyu options than I've ever seen. Especially here in Utah. Had the wagyu tri tip and it was excellent. Will definitely get it again. They didn't cook it consistently though. It was too rare in spots, so I sent it back to get cooked some more. Afterwards it still tasted great, so no worries there. The sides were great. We got the Puré de Zapallo con Gorgonzola, which is seasonal squash puree topped with gorgonzola. My wife LOVED it, but she's a cheese fiend LOL. I enjoyed it but eventually I reached my Gorgonzola limit. Would get again though. Also got the smoked creamed corn side and that was insanely good. Very rich though. We couldn't finish it all, so we had a nice lunch the following day. We loved this place, and have plans to visit again within the month. Highly recommend. read more

Great service and delicious food. Our host was one of the owners and he explained some of the history behind the restaurant. Mom had the short ribs. I had the flank steak, and hubby had another cut of steak. All of the meals were delicious. We ordered mashed potatoes, which were delicious and creamed corn, which was okay. We did try their pureed green apples with the steak, which was a delicacy in Brazil. That was pretty tasty. And then we ordered apple crepes and a pear and wine sauce, which was delicious. All in all, everything was really good and we are looking forward to going back and trying different items on the menu. read more

Unfortunately, i can't recommend getting a table here. The waiter came to our table a total of 4 times. Drinks, order, food, and check. They never refilled our water, never checked on the food. We waited over 20 minutes after we were finished before anyone came. Another 10 minutes to get the check after asking for it. I get better service at chilli's. There was such a sense of this being such a special and exceptional place that we were a bit disappointed with the food. The rice was undercooked (unless that's how they do it in Argentina, and I'm wrong) the steaks were bland and needed the assortment of sauces. Perhaps that's the style in Argentina and I'm uneducated. I was raised that it was an insult to put sauce on a steak so this place was not for me. The staff and ownership have done an excellent job transporting you to a place where your get exited for what is presented as an exceptional meal, but then we found ourselves tasting the food and being like... meh, is that it? Not a single note! Our main dishes were the wagyu picanha and the wagyu tri tip. I was worried about my tri tip because I had to order it well done due to the fact that I am pregnant and cannot eat undercooked meat, but wow it was so tender and flavorful! We went here for our anniversary soley based on ratings. It's a brand-new space with very high ceilings and widely-spaced tables. While most of the surfaces in the space are hard, it wasn't noisy and we had no trouble talking. The space also isn't austere. The walls are decorated with beautiful paintings of dancers performing the tango. We were greeted at the door by the owner. He continued to provide information about the restaurant and the food throughout our dinner. Our party had two servers who were both excellent. They clearly enjoy their work. But we were there for steak. Even before we arrived, I had checked out the menu and decided to have the 18 ounce wagyu picanha, which is a cut that I only see in Brazilian and, now, Argentinian steakhouses. It's seasoned simply with salt and grilled over screaming hot wood coals to medium rare, and is the epitome of beefy deliciousness. I also got to taste the picanha, because my wife sat next to me and we shared our food. It, too, was seasoned simply with salt and grilled perfectly to medium rare, and the fat cap was just as crispy and delicious as it looked. The desserts were all quite good, as well. The kids enjoyed the alfahores de dulce de leche (aka caramel crepe. All in all, it was an amazing experience and should be considered for very special occasions. First off the ambiance and decor here is exquisite. Upon entry you are greeted with the aromatic senses of burning wood and wood grilled meats. There is nothing that smells better at a steakhouse than natural wood burning at temperature. Secondly the bar and cocktails at this place are second to none. I was really taken back by the quality of their cocktails and the service. Now on to why I went here...the steaks. I ordered the wagyu trip-tip and I gotta say this is one steak that is cooked in the old way and how they are supposed to be cooked. It had an amazing sear on it and was tender and juicy inside. I gave the chef the preference on how to grill my steak and it turned out amazing. 18 oz was a little more than I could eat but all the different sauces and spices they serve with your steak are so fun. A truly 5-star experience from the time we walked in to the time we walked out. Well done Libertango. From a classy, comfortable interior to excellent food and service, our visit here was really great. We showed up on a Friday night where reservations are absolutely recommended. We showed around 5 hoping to be there early enough to get a table. There weren't any tables but they sat us at the bar (there are only 6 bar seats) but we didn't mind. They have cool backlit menus which aren't complicated or extensive but there is something for everyone and clearly center around their steak choices. Everything is A-la-carte. Look, if you're looking for a cheap steakhouse, this isn't it. It's pricey but in my opinion, it's worth it. Based on previous Yelp recommendations, we tried the smoked cream corn, the cheese rice, rump and flank steaks. The only issue, if I had to pick one, is that that steaks are hit n miss in terms of their done-ness. Our server said the cooks are "still figuring it out" so he couldn't guarantee we'd get the perfect "medium" my wife asked for for her flank. I asked for medium rare and it was certainly on the rare-er side! (See pictures in this review) but I didn't mind too much as I don't mind a rare steak for time to time. I can't say enough about this place. First of all. Adan, was fantastic and a total gentleman. Music excellent. Classic South American oldies. Atmosphere excellent. Sound levels excellent. Adan checked in regularly. His recommendations were all spot on. Adan recommended I pair an Argentine malbec with my picanha, which was perfectly prepared medium rare. All the side sauces were delectable. The brocollini rice was perfectly salted and flavorful. The vegetables were seared and absolutely delicious. Broccoli mashed potatoes were rich and creamy. The shrimp was charred to perfection and the sweety drops were eye opening, crunchy, tangy out of this world delicious experience. Never had or heard of them. If you love incredible cuisine, this place easily earns every penny you're paying for. I came with my girlfriend and left pregnant with an Argentine food baby. Start to finish it was enjoyable and for a higher end dining establishment the pace of the meals were on the quicker side which is great for a date night or if you show up hungry. I appreciate that. Everything we had was special and delicious with its own unique flavor that I can't wait to go back to try everything else on the menu. If you're a first timer I would highly recommend the smoked creamed corn as a side and the smoked provolone appetizer. If youre a true medium rare steak lover then this spot is for you. They source their streaks from Snake River farms, for many Utahns you've probably heard of it. Save room for dessert too and finish strong! We've driven past this place many times and always wondered what it was all about. It's a lot bigger inside than it looks and has quite a nice ambience. They have a great little lounge upon arrival and a nice bar area that is full service if you don't have reservations. We'd happily give 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that we waited 20 min at our table before our server showed up. Once she showed up, everything was great but it didn't make for a good first impression. We enjoyed the Provoleta Dehumada as an appetizer. It came out in a cute dish that looks like a painter's palette and was delicious! Then we had the cafayate salad and the el lomo as mains. Everything was perfection! I ordered the Buenos Aires salad with tri-tip. It was amazing and I would order it again in a heartbeat - diced mango and fresh lite cubed cheese. The dressing was mango something, I forgot to ask. The most tender and flavourful meat! Honestly, so good. My husband got the New York Strip Wagyu...also incredible. The veggies, smoked cream corn....and empanadas that we started with were all so dang good! I couldn't get over the empanada dough, best I've ever had. Service was excellent. Overall disappointing. We weren't that hungry so we split some appetizers and a side. We ordered the salchicha parrillera, the smoked provoleta, the empanada, and the arroz con tomate seco. The provoleta was fine but in no way tasted smoked, the empanada was fine but nothing special. We were given the chorizo instead of the salchicha and it was fine but not good enough to make up for being not what we ordered. And the rice with "sundried tomatoes" was actually rice with canned tomatoes, so it was mushy and under seasoned and had zero texture. Not worth the time, money, or calories. read more

The way they renovated the space from the old restaurant before is so well done. Very chic and high end now. I ordered the lamb chops which were outstanding. The pear dessert was also amazing. I have an allergy to gluten but Al helped me determine what was and was not safe on the menu. Most everything can be altered to be gluten free if it isn't already. The pear dessert is the only gf dessert option. Definitely recommend Libertango. There's nothing else like it in the area and they are also open for lunch. read more

The food was to die for! Everything we ate was great! The staff there are so helpful with the menu. They described what everything was and the best pairings with each item you ordered. The owners came up to us when we entered and introduced themselves and asked about us. Then after the meal they came and asked me what I had and what I thought of the place. They were very personable owners I've ever met before. The environment was incredible as well. The kitchen was a opened to the restaurant so you could watch them cook the food in front of you. The only person in our four top who liked their steak got the Wagu. I'm sorry but a $42 steak should taste better than a $17 dollar one everywhere else. The empanada was good,the cheesy rice was good. All the desserts we had were tasty. Atmosphere would be great but someone brought their child and they ran around the place. They seated us next to the back station and that was distracting. And surprising service wasn't great. It's beautiful, especially the bathroom. Ask for a table....the booths are too far away from the table. I refrained from posting for a few weeks but we are still talking about what a shame it was for $400 so I think others should know what they are getting into. It's far better than you would expect from a strip mall restaurant. The ambiance is very nice, and the service tends to be good - as with any new restaurant there are occasion where it feels like they are short staffed, but I generally feel very attended to. The owner is awesome, and spent time with us. The steaks are amazing. The sides are extremely good. My wife ordered the trout and loved it as well.
