We decided to try Color Café for a fun pottery painting outing. It was me, my two daughters, my…read moregranddaughter, and me, and we were looking forward to spending some creative time together. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out to be a great experience. * No blank pottery to paint - Everything available already had printed designs on it. We were hoping to paint our own plates, cups, or bowls, but there were no plain pieces available. * Very limited selection - The inventory felt small. We were told a party of 20 was coming in, and it seemed like the blank items might have been saved for them. * Unhelpful service - When we asked about options, the staff didn't seem very helpful or friendly. * Pricing - There's a $10 studio fee per painter, and many of the stamped platters were around $42 more, which felt expensive for items that were already pre-designed. Since there was nothing blank to paint, we ended up leaving without doing the activity. We were hoping to try something different from Color Me Mine, but unfortunately this visit didn't work out for us. We're going to Color Me Mine.

Sometimes it's not just the framing! The word "Gallery"…read moredescribes a place for exhibiting and selling art but really it's so much more. For me it's the experience - the time spent looking, studying, and simply browsing a collection is worth gold to me. Chemers Gallery in Tustin is that place that offers that whole experience. Every time I go in there, which I admit isn't near often enough but probably more than some, I delight in "finds". I have a fairly decent collection of artwork and it's not confined to paintings. I've ceramics, sculptures, glasswork, pottery, photographs, and a few weird pieces of found object works as well. Quite a few of those pieces have come from this jewel of a gallery so close to home. The owner Karen, and her friendly staff have always allowed me the luxury to simply roam. I have to walk through numerous times to take everything in. I get distracted by one or two pieces and then turn around and find something else completely unexpected. And, it becomes mine. I love this place!! I am a retired healthcare designer and Chemers was the art consultant on a few of our firms healthcare projects. What I enjoyed was the chosen works were always different from the predictable works too often seen in healthcare spaces and, they always complimented the concepts of our interiors. I also love the shows and exhibitions they often host here. Often soliciting works from local artists, craftspeople, and even foodies, these "pop-up" shows are always good for gifts, wearables, and sometimes taste-ables! And if I'm lucky, I often walk away with a new piece! I always look forward to stopping in on these shows and could spend an hour or more perusing. Do yourself a favor and visit this gallery - oh, and of course, don't forget, they also do excellent framing!!

I didn't want to go, I had to go once I found out what it was. I have never been in such awe and so stoked walking into any skate-oriented location. This is a true museum of skating history. My son and I spent some time there with the coolest guy (Todd) who was also the owner of this treasure. We as a skating community must support and keep Todd doing what he is doing. I truly believe it is a must to keep this museum alive. It is truly a hidden gem of skate history. Todd is an amazing person and is so knowledgeable. It was a true honor and pleasure being able to visit. As weird as it sounds I got emotional when Todd was sharing information about his collection. That never happened to me but I felt his passion and it was amazing to have someone else share such a love for skating and bikes. I will be going back again to soak in more of this place. So much to see and so much history in one place. Thank you Todd for building this masterpiece and keeping this history alive for future generations. You are a legend and such a rad dude!
